Actually really pissed that discourse around stereotyping and bad writing in media turned into "does this character have X,Y,Z traits? Is this character an admirable human being? Are they the good guy?" instead of promoting actual good writing and what that entails.

It's not about the presence of individual traits! It's about if the minority character is treated as a complex human being with believable motivations and who is looked at with an empathetic eye by the story!

If you personally don't like certain traits to be present in a character that has your identity, you have a right to do that, but it's not criticism, it's your opinion. You know what your dislike doesn't do? Make that character a stereotype! Because a stereotype isn't a character with traits commonly assigned to them, it's a character who isn't written as a fully fleshed human being save for those traits. The character isn't treated with dignity by the author because the author does not give them a character.

If they are fully fleshed out and complex with understandable motivations then? They aren't a stereotype. Because people like that exist in real life, and you viewing them as a stereotype says more about you than it does about them.

Rocket, out of nowhere, challenges Sinedd to a netherball match out of what seems to be pure hatred. And i do mean OUT OF NOWHERE, Sinedd didn't even fucking do anything if i remember correctly 💀 idk i just think rocket didn't have a really good reason for it,i get he was selfish and angry and aggressive but that doesn't mean he just has to randomly call out Sinedd like he despises him for some reason

Rocket and Sinedd have their netherball match, and this is where it actually gets violent. I don't know if you remember,but Sinedd WHACKED ROCKET IN THE FUCKING FACE!! i remember it clearly cause it caught me off guard lol. Then Sinedd slips on his ankle like a dumbass and is in pain and can't play in the match anymore. While rocket wasn't directly responsible for sinedds injury, he mocks him and humiliates him. He wins,i dunno what he fuckin got out of it,but he wins regardless

Sinedd continues operating the netherball systems even after he loses his smog post pirates match. Though there's not much he can do now other than netherball. He doesn't talk to rocket anymore, and imma be honest i found it kinda weird that sinedd never really seemed angry at rocket for the fractured ankle other than silent seething. I always thought he'd blame him more for the shadows loss against the pirates, or at least be angry he had to play like that. Cause i remind you, sinedd had to play against the pirates 2 days after he FRACTURED HIS ANKLE

Rocket stops playing netherball and leaves with his team and Tia. He gives Sinedd a smug grin and tells him to deal with the fight happening and just fucking leaves. Straight up abandons Sinedd who at this point has absolutely no one in his life (his coach abandoned him, rocket left and netherball is over. We don't know if he still hangs out with his team or not)

And that's just .... The end of their relationship, no mentions after or anything. Rocket doesn't even comment about Sinedd or the Shadows when they watch the Xenons vs Shadows match. Just makes a comment about Luur. I think this is kinda lame and underworked, since without sinedd, rocket would have never even known about netherball. Would he still have problems? Sure, but i think they would be a lot less intense. Sinedd is the whole catalyst for this seasons problems. They REALLY couldnt have cut something out? I don't really remember if s2 had lots of filler, but they seriously couldn't have cut SOMETHING? i dunno, making fun of Micro-Ice when they refuse to do anything interesting with his character anymore....or 20 year old Micro-Ices relationship with a 16 year old that never goes anywhere and drags on and on...or D'jok repeating his arc from season 1 ALL OVER AGAIN...or Yukis constant insecurities (it was just a bit much, they felt the need to hammer it in over and over)...or the constant discussion of Ahito's illness...or the writers pretending that Mark is an interesting character and giving him screentime when he never was.......i don't remember if the pirates had as time consuming of a subplot as they did in season 1, but I'm sure there was something in there that could be cut. Some of these were obviously more important than others but i can't think of good examples right now

Feel free to add on anything i forgot. Also, all of that got screentime and Mei didn't. I seriously can't remember a single important thing she did that season other than covering for Tia when she left. While Mei isn't my favorite character or SK, she's still supposed to be a main character!! Cmon guys you REALLY couldnt give her even a little bit of screen time ? I think it's the same problem as Micro-Ice, they already had their arcs in s1 so the writers couldn't come up with anything interesting to do with them so they're just reduced to the love interests of specific characters (i think D'jok also had this problem of already having his arc finished so they just ... repeated it and hoped no one would notice lmao) . Interesting thing that I am noticing about the types of sounds / instruments that I associate with Svern (with examples from some of the songs in his muse playlist):

Flowers first made me associate more twinkling-sounding / chime- or belllike sounds or those types of soft percussion (idk what terms or exact instrument names) with him (happens similarly in this Celeste track), specifically with his underlying quiet or more genuine side.

Then recently I started associating strings with him as well. This one I think started because of the later section of Quivering Prints, and quickly also was picked up in Fatal Error (which had been in the playlist for years, but only now started to get this sound association).

A while ago I did make the headcanon that he was learning violin, not as a thing that he wanted to do, but something he started because it was a thing his parents gave him to learn (he later would avoid it as much as he was able to because he got no enjoyment out of it even if like most other things he could play quite well and he would rather do other things. Lilly filled in for him sometimes and can also play well).

Despite having that headcanon for a while I did not actually associate him with the strings sound until recently though.

The strings sound is associated with a chaotic and unpleasant side of the muse. I wouldn't generally associate it with him (unlike the previous sound), but more specifically with a very Shadow-aligned Svern. I don't think those associations are present in verses where that influence is absent or at least very much less so.

Because the strings are associated with something he has no interest in and that he was kind of forced into (at the time just went along with) that there wouldn't have been any kind of association. It's not something I thought would have happened. The fact it's associated with an angry and careless side of him where he loses (gives up) control to some degree is interesting.

#flowers is by far the softest song in svern's playlist. i don't have much explanation for it beyond it feels like it belongs #ice's instrument is overdrive electric guitar like in pseudo echo funky town cover btw. that's his fav song and helped restore his muse #i have no further justification for that other than vibes and sounds cool though #boredom is so terrible like a dread disease (headcanon)

Here’s a fun fact for the night.

So, as a general ‘au-wide’ rule, Pixie has minimal trust for officers until give a reason otherwise. It’s a little different for the ‘main’ au of course, and it’s the least severe there. And then the Commander verse it’s because she just knows what other officers can be like.

But in the Dead Fae Walking verse?

There is a definitive point of ignition for her hatred and distrust of officers. A single person to blame for it. And his name is Micah J. Pearson.

He had been Pixie’s CO in a previous unit, before the formation of TF-PATRIOT where they were both original, founding members. But TF-PATRIOT was the first time he was really ‘off the leash’ for long periods of time out in the field. He started playing fast and loose with the rules of engagement, but Pixie still followed his command for the most part.

It wasn’t until she was tasked with leading a patrol mission that would’ve been suicide from an intel standpoint. Something she made crystal clear to Pearson, flat out refusing orders. She was accused of insubordination, but the mission was cancelled before it even began, and the TF was instead tasked with guarding a small FOB in the area.

Things went to shit on that detail however, and Pixie was caught in an explosion and taken captive when the FOB was attacked. And instead of really searching for her, or any remains, Pearson called off the search after a few hours when the dust had cleared, claiming that he had found and taken care of her body, declaring her KIA.

Except of course, she wasn’t killed, and she spent the next year in custody being tortured for information she didn’t have, as fuel for propaganda.

It wasn’t hard for her to figure out what had happened exactly when she finally escaped and started working with the CIA, learned the ‘official’ story. Figure out that she had been intentionally abandoned because she fought against unlawful orders that would’ve gotten her soldiers killed.

She doesn’t even know the worst of it either- that Pearson himself was the one to kill her brother to keep the truth about her fate from getting out. Just to save his own hide.

She hates the man with every fiber of her being. But it isn’t worth it to her to actively search him out for revenge. After all, it wouldn’t change anything, and as far as she knows, she was the only one whose life he destroyed. But if she knew that he had been the one to pull the trigger of the gun that killed her brother?

Revenge would be the only thing on her mind until Pearson knew a fraction of the pain he had put her through.
