This post is all bad but this part especially. Whew. You're conflating ALL Palestinians with the terrorists who murdered twelve hundred innocent people, and you still think you're helping the Palestinian cause?

I'm tired, I'm sad, I really don't know what to say anymore
Note: I'm not Jewish/Israeli or Palestinian, just a girl who has friends of both nationalities and whose political views lean fairly non- to anti-Zionist.
Every part of my body hurts to the core whenever I open Twitter/see the news about the assault on Gaza.
For one, I'm upset by the fact that the targeting of 1400 Israeli civilians is excused in certain leftist circles as "they're all settlers so they're fair game to be attacked in resistance, they should all go back to Brooklyn." The designation as a settler isn't incorrect because of the settler-colonial nature of the state and its history from the very beginning* (this article (https://www.972mag.com/jnf-zionism-palestinians-dispossession/) was the one that opened my eyes to this fact last year) but the people on the left saying the above aren't stopping to think about the fact that a) that's a war crime and it's wrong, and b) so many of those victims/Israelis in general are descended from refugees who fled to historic Palestine seeking safety from various countries that either did not offer safety during and after WWII or do not exist anymore and had nowhere else to go, and these people also consequently have nowhere to go, either; now they're stuck with the mess created by the founders of the state/Zionism. How can I tell my Israeli friend, with a straight face, that he has to leave? He was born in Haifa, as were his parents. Replacing one ethnonationalism with another nativist ethnonationalism is something I'm not particularly keen on as someone whose ancestral country is also being swept by a reactionary ethnonationalism at this moment. And no, wanting settler populations to be given a chance to relinquish privilege, live as equals, and actively participate in land restitution to returning Palestinian refugees does not make me a liberal Zionist, my views are nearly dramatically opposite to that, and I'm tired of having to explain my views on what a just decolonization is while citing the Palestinian scholars that discussed the very thing I just said to some random non-Palestinian internet leftist who decides to put a political litmus test as a condition for discourse on the matter when I could be focusing on drawing attention to those Palestinian scholars' words/voices on the ground.
But I'm also disgusted by portions of the left that used this horrific attack to assault Gaza indiscriminately, killing up to nearly 10000 people so far. How can you conflate the broader 75-year Palestinian struggle for return to their old homes with H*m*s? Literally all they've wanted is to go back home, have equal rights, and live their lives without dispossession. Why can't they go back home? Why is it so hard to advocate for this the same way you advocate for the right of return of Ukrainian civilians? How can I tell my Palestinian friend from Jerusalem to wait for a partial justice in a 2-state solution when said solution is being undermined by fanatics in settlements in East Jerusalem/the West Bank who run around terrorizing her and her people and committing pogroms** against their villages? How can you reasonably argue against the fact that the founders of Zionism held deeply patronizing and racist views towards indigenous and non-European peoples, particularly to Arab-Palestinians, openly spoke about their project as a colonial one and worked with colonialists, and ultimately by the 1930s (outside of a small faction of binationalists) were okay with the prospect of expulsions? How can you justify this to a person who has lived their entire life with the threat of a house demolition or the dangers of a checkpoint, or in a refugee camp outside of historic Palestine, and who can never go back to their ancestral homes again, who will likely never even be allowed to visit, and if they do, who will likely be subjected to brutalization and dehumanization on the way there?
Why can't we have freedom for a secular Palestine that is a thriving center of Jewish life and worship and Palestinian life, too? Why can't we look back at visions of Palestinian national identity that included Jews (Ashkenazi/Sephardi/Arab Jews) and Christians (Arab-Palestinian/Levantine, Armenian, and beyond) and Muslims (with deep roots in Palestine and all throughout the SWANA region) and Druze and Samaritans, too? Why can't we look back at this broader indigenous community (and yes, I use indigenous here very broadly for all these groups because they share direct links to subsistence on the land) as an example for the future instead of looking at H*m*s/any other ethnonationalist view that involves rejection or un-aliving of all Jewish people from the land?
I'm so freaking tired. I hate the general discourse going on so much.
*note: not talking about or doubting DNA results or the deep ancestry of Jewish folks in the holy land/Middle East more broadly, I'm referring strictly to structures of power and power imbalances here. I don't care what a DNA test says or what the "who came first" argument says, I care about not oppressing others
**see Huwara - Israeli newspaper Haaretz ran multiple articles describing the settler violence with these words.

WAR
WF THOUGHTS (10/12/23).
I’ve been struggling to find something brilliant to say about the atrocity that just happened in Israel. I have failed. There’s nothing brilliant to say. The whole situation is so confusing. It’s impossible to condense everything into a short analysis that is fair and accurate.
Whether we like it our not, war is a fact of life. Humans have been fighting with each other since Adam and Eve. During and after every war, people give speeches about the senselessness of war and the wisdom of avoiding war at all costs. Soon thereafter, the next war begins. History tells us that war will never stop.
Ever since the biblical kingdoms of Israel and Judah (approximately 1000 B.C.), war has been a fact of life in the Middle East. For a long time, it was part of the blood thirsty Roman Empire. Later, from around 1300 A.D. until the end of WWI in 1918, the Middle East was controlled by the Ottoman Empire. War was a tool that was regularly used by the Ottomans. In the aftermath of WWI, by international agreement, the Middle East was governed by British Authorities. When the British took control, the region was predominantly Muslim. There was only a small Jewish population. (Except for Israel, the region is still almost exclusively Muslim.) The British relinquished control in 1948, which gave rise to the birth of Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people. Sadly but not surprisingly, that transition involved war and the warfare has never ended. There has been war in the region in 1948, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1959, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1978, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1993, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2014. The latest round of war has just commenced. There have been so many wars in the region that it’s nearly impossible to keep track of the issues in dispute and the positions of the various combatants. It’s all extremely complex and confusing.
Do you see my point? The fighting never stops in the Middle East. There is constant conflict regarding religion, geography, culture, old grudges, and other issues. Do you think the repetitive wars will ever stop? I’m doubtful. This latest flare up will probably put peace prospects on the back burner for at least 50 years. It will be a very long time before the Israelis and Palestinians can restore even a few ounces of trust.
As we look at the Middle East from a distance, Americans shouldn’t be too quick to criticize the use of war as a means to achieve an objective. We used war to achieve our independence from England. We used war, a war that killed more than 600,000 Americans, to keep America from dividing itself into two different countries. We’ve been involved in many other wars too. Please don’t presume that America is a totally peaceful nation. That’s not true. I’m sorry to say that we’ve played the war game too.
Unlike the warring nations in the Middle East, America has been able to achieve peace with former enemies. Great Britain, our enemy in the Revolutionary War, is now our best international friend. Here at home, The North and The South have reconciled. Even though we dropped atomic bombs on Japan after Pearl Harbor, the USA and Japan are close allies today. We’re also close allies with Germany, the formerly evil country that we defeated in WWII. Despite our history with war and peace in America, peace seems to be impossible in the Middle East. The war never ends.
Because war has such a long history in the world, accepted norms have developed for fighting during wartime. Yes, there are essentially “Rules of War.” Even in the context of a war, certain actions are not permitted. Certain lines cannot be crossed. You probably know what I’m talking about.
We all need to be very, very clear about what happened in Israel this week. The attack on Israel by Hamas was not like all of the other fighting that has occurred. The attack was not consistent with the ordinary rules of war. The attack was pure, unadulterated, barbaric, terrorism. It’s terrorism to attack a crowd at a music festival that is filled with young unarmed civilians. It’s terrorism to beat and slaughter civilians, including women and children. It’s terrorism to capture civilians as hostages and to use them as human shields for protection. It’s terrorism to rape women, to kill babies, and to abuse the elderly. Please stay focused on the fact that Hamas launched a terrorist attack.
Make sure that you’re thinking very clearly about what happened this week in Israel. This wasn’t normal warfare perpetrated by a country that is seeking to protect itself or to advance its own agenda. Hamas is a terrorist group. For years, the U.S. government has designated Hamas as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.” Hamas is on the same list as Al Queda, ISIS, and Bolo Haram. Hamas isn’t a military organization that has been authorized by a country to engage in standard warfare. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has committed acts of terrorism. They’re a group of thugs that have committed brutal atrocities. The world will be a better place if Hamas is eliminated from the face of the earth.
Israel has every right to hunt down the members of Hamas and to take whatever action is necessary to keep these thugs from committing additional acts of terrorism. It will be a tough challenge. Israel believes that the terrorism wing of Hamas includes approximately 20,000 terrorists. America should fully support Israel in that effort.
At some later date, we can have an intellectual discussion about the longstanding conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. You must fight the urge to link this attack with that conflict. This attack has nothing to do with two countries trying to resolve their differences. The terrorists in Hamas do not represent the people of Palestine. Today is not the day to discuss the bigger picture in the Middle East. Right now we need to stand with Israel and hope for the speedy elimination of the Hamas terrorists.
We all need to pray that Israel can find a way to eliminate Hamas without causing the conflict to escalate and drag in other countries. The Gaza Strip, only the size of Philadelphia, sits at the southwestern edge of Israel along the Mediterranean Sea. The West Bank, another troublesome area the size of Delaware, sits on the eastern edge of Israel along the Jordan River. Inasmuch as Israel is only the size of New Jersey, the troublesome areas are not far apart. Isn’t it sickening that all of this grief relates to such small pieces of land? Hezbollah, another terrorist group that’s loosely affiliated with Hamas, operates in the West Bank. Hezbollah, with a force of approximately 40,000 terrorists, is much bigger and stronger than Hamas. If Hezbollah decides to act opportunistically and enter this new war, the battle could soon include nearby countries like Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, or Egypt. The nightmare scenario would be the direct involvement of Iran, which is already indirectly involved because it funds and otherwise supports both Hamas and Hezbollah. We need to hope that Israel can “thread the needle” and find a way to eliminate Hamas without precipitating a much wider war.
We live in very dangerous times. War is always at the doorstep. At times like these, we all should be thankful that we’re Americans. In every way possible, we must support Israel in her quest to put an end to the terrorists in Hamas.

“Pilot: twas the pilot!
“Grace”: Brody prays at the end

“Semper I”: it’s a play on “Semper Fi” which is short for “Semper Fidelis” which is a Marine motto which means “always faithful”
“Blind Spot”: Carrie thinks Brody uses the blind spot in the safe house to slip Hamid the razor blade plus her growing attraction for him is kind of her blind spot!!
“The Good Soldier”: almost undoubtedly a reference to a novel about a love triangle between a woman and two soldiers
“The Weekend”: because it’s THE weekend, duh

“The Smile”: CARRIE FUCKING SMILES FOR FUCKING ONCE
“Beirut Is Back”: I could have sworn that there was a tourism campaign for the city of Beirut and this was the slogan but now I can find no evidence of that online

“New Car Smell”: Brody gets a car wash to get rid of the odor of tobacco and murder
“Q&A”: Carrie asks some questions
“A Gettysburg Address”: play on words with Abraham Lincoln’s speech and the fact that Quinn & Co. literally go to a physical address in Gettysburg
“The Clearing”: I think this has multiple meanings: Carrie meets Brody in the clearing in the woods, Dana clears her conscience, Brody attempts to clear his
“I’ll Fly Away”: a reference to the 90s TV show that Henry Bromell (and, hi! Barbara Hall!) both wrote on but a more literal reference to Brody being whisked away on a helicopter at the end (lmao s2 is wild)
“Two Hats”: so many people wearing hats in this episode!!
“Broken Hearts”: lulz Walden’s breaks at the end
“In Memoriam”: because Nazir dies (fact: this episode was originally titled “The Motherfucker in the Turban” but was changed last minute, thank god)

“Gerontion”: ugh this is a poem I don’t know more go find Jacob Clifton’s TWoP recap

“Good Night”: more spy code. I think it means “we’re fucked!”?

“The Star”: probs dual meaning and allusion to the literal star Carrie draws and Damian Lewis’ stature on the show
Season four:
“The Drone Queen”: we stan one!
“Trylon and Perisphere”: a reference to the two structures at the World’s Fair and I can’t remember where I read this but I think it’s a reference to Quinn and the Landlady which is 100% horrific and offensive
“Shalwar Kameez”: this is the national dress of Pakistan but beyond that I got nothing
“Iron in the Fire”: Carrie says this about Aayan
“About a Boy”: think this is not a reference to the book/film but rather just to Carrie trying to figure out Aayan’s dealio
“From A to B and Back Again”: possibly a reference to the circular nature of the episode? They go from thinking they’ve got Haqqani to being back at square one by episode’s end
“Redux”: Carrie hallucinates Brody
“Halfway to a Donut”: Duck says this about some pastry. Like 4.06, they think they’ve got Saul and end up back to zero (donut)
“There’s Something Else Going On”: well there was!!
“13 Hours in Islamabad”: reference to the Benghazi attacks, which the episode basically lifts from directly and which also lasted ~13 hours
“Krieg Nicht Lieb”: Carrie meets a German spy woman! This means “war not love” (not perfectly translated), so an ironic take on “love not war”
“Long Time Coming”: Carrie and Quinn finally have sex!!!!!!! (just seeing if anyone is still reading this)
Season five:
“Separation Anxiety”: I think this a meta reference to the time jump and also to Carrie’s anxieties about being out of the CIA but back in that world
“The Tradition of Hospitality”: I believe this is a reference to Carrie + Otto being guests at the UN refugee camp and how… un-hospitably that trip ends
“Super Powers”: Carrie believes she has super powers when she’s off her meds
“Why Is This Night Different”: these words at said at Passover seder, which starts out the episode
“Better Call Saul”: horrifically embarrassing title that is a reference to Carrie calling Saul as well as the Breaking Bad spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk
“Parabiosis”: I honestly don’t know. It’s a scientific term and I haven’t rewatched those middle season five episodes since they aired and also don’t care to!
“Oriole”: this was Carrie’s code name with one of her assets in Iraq
“All About Allison”: this episode centers on our Lord and Savior Allison Carr, Queen of Online Handbag Shopping!
“The Litvinov Ruse”: I think this describes the trick they played on Allison thinking she was blown when she wasn’t
“New Normal”: some military or CIA person says this about ISIS or Russia and Quinn being gassed
“Our Man in Damascus”: this is the title of a book about a man who infiltrates a foreign government at the highest levels so I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to Allison
“A False Glimmer”: lifted straight from Quinn’s letter!
Season six:
“Fair Game”: was surely sad by Keane or Dar or Saul or someone else about something (sorry, haven’t rewatched these episodes either)
“The Man in the Basement”: it’s where Quinn threw that mug at Carrie
“The Covenant”: believe this is a reference to the scene with Saul and his sister and Palestine/Israel
“A Flash of Light”: Etai says* this to Saul: “And the question I keep asking myself is this-- should we [the Jewish people] pack up and leave before it's too late? All eight million of us? Should we go back to the ghettos of Europe and Asia and wait for the next pogrom? Or just pray it doesn't happen here first, in a flash of light?” *not recited from memory
“Casus Belli”: apparently this was the actual name of meat face?? The phrase actually means a justification for war, so...
“The Return”: isn’t the episode where Javadi comes back?
“Imminent Risk”: Carrie is this to Franny and Quinn is this to.... himself?
“alt.truth”: I think this was someone’s sock puppet handle or website name or something? Idk it was about online trolls I think
“Sock Puppets”: Max finds ‘em!
“The Flag House”: the house where meat face lives has a flag out front
“R is for Romeo”: there was an R on the white board at the flag house which I think meant eastern time?? It was spy code I can’t remember!!
“America First”: term that used to mean non-interventionist policy but has been today co-opted by the American right to mean that we gotta put America ahead of all other interests (moral, humane, rational, etc.) because... AMERICA!!! Typically used to justify fascist policies
Season seven:
“Enemy of the State”: Carrie’s power of bun have put her in the crosshairs (is anyone still reading this?)
“Rebel Rebel”: I remember this being a play on words and it’s a verb, not a noun. Said by those gun crazies with Brett O’Keefe.
“Standoff”: Saul and O’Keefe
“Like Bad at Things”: definition for “incompetent.” Said by Carl, who deserves a Best Supporting Actor Emmy
“Active Measures”: term for actions taken by Russia to undermine America
“Species Jump”: another science term to describe the jumping of a pathogen from one host to another... I’m thinking this might be Carrie understanding who Dante really was but it’s a Chip Johannessen title so anything is possible
“Andante”: it’s how Carrie ends the episode! (that is a joke and it is 100% another meaning for the title but it also refers to a moderately slow tempo which is basically this episode’s structure until, y’know, the ending!)
“Lies, Amplifiers, Fucking Twitter”: it’s one half of a haiku Carrie is writing
“Useful Idiot”: see: picture of Carrie in a PowerPoint presentation
“Clarity”: Carrie gets it (kinda)
“All In”: what Carrie must convince Saul she is for the 650th time because Saul remains trash
“Paean to the People”: a reference to Keane’s speech

The Banality of Evil
Tumblr media
“Evil” is an interesting word and not one that we usually associate with modern times.  To me, it harks back to The Dark Ages in Europe when Christ allegedly battled Satan for men’s souls and sinners were  condemned to spend eternity in a fiery hell.   For a therapist like myself, the word “evil” is also an outlier, with much of the field  grounded in the social sciences and more recently the physiology of the nervous system and the brain.  Psychotherapy’s foundational principles and methods have mostly to do with the use of inquiry and understanding in the service of change and there are probably few therapists who subscribe to the more fatalistic belief that there is inherent darkness lurking in the human heart.  And yet, the existence of what has begun to feel like an impulse or instinct to do evil becomes harder to deny as privileged individuals who live in a post-Enlightenment world, and are the beneficiaries of affluence, science and an almost unlimited access to knowledge continue to act in ways that are cruel and inhumane.
This post, “The Banality of Evil,” is taken from the subtitle of a work by political theorist Hannah Arendt.  The full title of her book is “Eichmann in Jerusalem: The Banality of Evil,”  published in 1963.   It was written during the trial of Adolph Eichmann, the Nazi war criminal and architect of what was called “The Final Solution,” - the extermination of over six million Jews in more than a thousand German concentration camps scattered throughout Europe between 1933 and 1945.   What Arendt saw as “banal,” as she observed Eichmann during those hearings was how inarticulate, ordinary and even boring he was.  He would claim during the trial that he had no particular hatred for the Jewish people.  No malice at all.  He also stated that he bore no personal responsibility - just a man following orders and doing his job - a joiner all his life with a need to belong.
My personal definition of evil includes a lot of what Hannah Arendt describes in her book.  It also relates to things that people may see as normal and reasonable -  the beliefs they hold, the leaders that they follow and the actions they take.  But when it comes to rooting out and understanding evil, there are two crucial questions that people need to ask themselves:  Are my actions doing harm to and disempowering others?  And, am I allowing others to disempower people with my knowledge of it?  Whether this kind of cruelty occurs in families in which one member imposes a brutal regime of control and terror on his partner or his children and sees it as justified and normal or, if it happens within a political system in which a leader and his followers dehumanize, abuse or willfully disempower another group of people - to me, the underlying ethos is the same.
There are laws that Republican dominated legislatures in Texas, Georgia and 12 other states have recently passed or are currently enacting that are to me examples of the banality of evil.  On the surface, and to someone who knows little about the historical context, these laws may appear to be reasonable, common sense approaches to protecting the security and sanctity of elections in their states.  They have even been framed by Republican majority legislatures and their leaders as attempts to reassure citizens that voter fraud will not occur.
What these laws are actually designed to do is suppress the votes of African Americans, Latinos and young people with laser-like precision.  The statutes disenfranchise these groups by restricting mail-in voting, purging voter rolls, diminishing the number of voting drop boxes in urban areas, and eliminating the amount of time and days that would allow members of these targeted groups to vote. Other parts of the hundreds of bills rushed through Republican majority legislatures are crafted to intimidate election workers by imposing tremendous penalties for any action that might violate these laws.  The laws also give partisan “poll watchers” the power to harass and further intimidate workers who are simply and honestly doing the job that they were hired to do.  These same state legislatures have further empowered themselves to challenge the results of elections and overturn them if they are unhappy with the results.
The Republican Party is doing what every kid who has played ball on a sandlot or in a schoolyard knows in his gut is wrong - changing the rules of the game to disempower the other team and give your own team an unfair advantage.  It violates the core values that we try to instill in our children around competition and fairness - but what is at stake for our society is much greater than which team wins a little league game.  It  has to do with the very survival of our democracy.  If winning at any cost becomes the way that we operate, and legislatures are willing to disempower another party or group of people and rig an election so that some people’s votes do not count - and they do this in order to maintain what they see as their own power, privileges and advantage - then we as a society have truly lost our soul.
What may be the most pernicious part of all of these Republican efforts is that in November’s presidential election there was no evidence of voter fraud or so little as to validate the integrity of the system as a whole.  This was upheld in court after court as Trump challenged the election results and appealed to Republican officials to “find him votes.”  He particularly cast doubt about the legitimacy of voting in cities with large Black populations in swing states - Atlanta, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Detroit - a part of his divisive strategy and his underlying message that Black votes do not really count.  It was his “Stop The Steal” campaign and his big lie that the election was stolen that sowed doubt, fueled the January 6th attack on the Capital and  gave Republican dominated legislatures the cover to push through their raft of voter suppression laws - all in the name of stopping voter fraud that did not exist in the first place.
On the surface this may seem like partisan politics as usual - one group merely seeking a competitive advantage but isn’t that what can make evil so banal?  This underlying issue that cuts so much deeper is that there is a demographic trend in the United States predicting that it will no longer be a majority white nation by 2045. The core of Trump’s “Make America Great Again'' movement that challenged Obama’s citizenship, vilified Muslims, labels Mexicans as “rapists and murders,” and calls African nations ``shithole countries,” is a a white Chritian nationalist  “us versus them” strategy designed to delegitimize and disempower non-whites while it plays into the fears of many white Americans that they are losing “their country” to the feared others.
This is the playbook of every dictator and authoritarian regime:  appeal to a majority group and manufacture a threat about a disempowered and disadvantaged minority - for Hitler it was Jews, Gypsies, Socialists and trade unionists for Trump and the Republican party it has been Mexicans, Blacks, Muslims, LBGTQ’s and refugees.  Repeat the lie often enough and you can create a fascist movement.   Then, barrage a population with so many vile acts that they become inured to what is going on and  begin to accept the caging of refugee children and the separation of parent and child asylum seekers at our borders. Once the envelope has been pushed that far, internment camps for the despised others might not be such a stretch.
For Black people in the United States the intersection of being in physical danger and being emotionally harmed by a white supremist narrative is nothing new.   History has proven that increases in voting rights have always been followed by periods of backlash and disempowerment:  Slavery is followed by emancipation and what is called Reconstruction which included the 15th Ammendemnt - the right of Black men to vote in elections.  But Reconstruction was soon abandoned along with the enforcement of the right to vote for the former slaves. This period ushered in a reign of terror and lynching that included voter intimidation and poll taxes in the Jim Crow South.  The Civil Rights movement, along with the The Voting Rights Act of 1965 attempted to redress some of these injustices only to be gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013 and again in a decision in June of this year.
Republican state legislatures are currently scrambling to make sure that once again there will be infringements on the rights of Black Americans to vote.  The third of America that fiercely supports these laws and  policies has been around for a long time -  they include those who would choose a George Wallace or an authoritarian Donald Trump over living in a multiracial democracy.  The policies pushed by these demagogues have been called the “politics of hate” but they always involve the willful denial of rights along with a moral injury -an  assault on a person or group’s dignity, worth and esteem.
In the big picture of Trump and the Trumpification of the Republican Party and its base, it is a story about normalizing what is criminal,  cruel and crass - the willingness to lie, cheat, steal and demean others in order to achieve one’s ends.  The underlying message to people is, “look what I can do - I can hold another nation hostage to my selfish needs.  I can demean a reporter with a disability.  I can have affairs and pay women off so they won’t talk.  I can assault women sexually and get away with it.  I can call a Black congresswoman ‘low I.Q.’  I can lie every day when it suits my interests. I can use the bible as a prop. I can even shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and pay no price for my crime.  I can say and do all that we know to be wrong and get away with it”   What Trump has done is to activate and validate the basest parts of us and has left Americans with the cynical message that we are all chumps if we do not follow in his path.
Psychiatrists have analyzed Trump’s behaviors and labeled him a “pathological narcissist.”  Others have said that he lacks a moral center and have called him a  “sociopath.”  He has also been described as a shallow, incurious and selfish man.  I see him as an evil man, one who has unleashed the dark side of our humanity and tried to turn it into the new normal.  This is truly the banality of evil and Trump’s evil legacy and there will need to be a deep reckoning before we absolve our nation of these sins.

47 Reasons Why I Fear Islam - (Reason 26)
-26-I fear for the freedom of Muslim women locked away behind a veil, and I fear for the safety of non-Muslim women not behind a veil because Muslim men, who already view Infidels as inferior scum, are more likely to see Western women as whores, fair-game to be raped. Unfortunately, for the sheik, the more Leila studied the Koran the further it drove her away from Islam, because: 1) Women have no insight or religious commitment, so women inherit only half that of a man. 2) Due to the feeble intelligence of women, a woman’s testimony in court is worth only half that of a man. 3) Because women are so silly, they can never be philosophers or doctors or judges or [fill in the blank]. 4) Most of those banished to hell are women, used as hell’s firewood. 5) If a women does enter Paradise she will be a Jannah whose only purpose is to please men in paradise. 6) More.  INTO THE DEN OF INFIDELS is a great book.  Read it! ++++------- A Nonie Darwish quote: “How can we expect Muslims to assimilate in America when their religion tells them that Jews are monkeys and Christians are pigs who both should be killed?” ++++------- http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/01/islam_a_religion_custom_made_f.html Amil Imani on how Islam caters to the savage male: 1) 4 wives are allowed the Muslim man PLUS as many one-night stands or one-hour stands as the Muslim man can rent (@hg47: PLUS the Muslim man may rape any women he can get his hands on without fear of punishment under Sharia law.)  These rented-relationships are considered legal temporary marriages, under Islamic law. 2) If a woman is discovered in a love affair outside marriage she will be stoned or possibly thrown into prison for a long sentence. ++++------- tweet ~ Islam condones any and all means to achieve its goals. ++++------- http://www.amazon.com/Cruel-Usual-Punishment-Terrifying-Implications/dp/1595551611/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1380310980&sr=1-1&keywords=CRUEL+AND+USUAL+PUNISHMENT+by+Nonie+Darwish In CRUEL AND USUAL PUNISHMENT Nonie Darwish brings up the point that Muslim men are so used to seeing only completely covered up “good women” that they may “lose it” if they suddenly see a Western girl.  She tells the tragic story during the ’80s when seven Israeli girls were on the beach in Egypt and a Muslim Egyptian soldier murdered them all because when he saw them in T-shirts and shorts he lusted after them, which broke his Ramadan fast, possibly casting him into hell. @hg47 says – By the way, the soldier in this story, after a short prison term, was likely promoted for killing Jews; a true-to-the-faith hometown hero!  If he is alive today, he’s probably a General. ++++------- http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/01/the_closed_circle_of_the_arab.html Glenn Fairman on Islamic honor killings. ++++------- http://www.amazon.com/Cruel-Usual-Punishment-Terrifying-Implications/dp/1595551611/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1380310980&sr=1-1&keywords=CRUEL+AND+USUAL+PUNISHMENT+by+Nonie+Darwish In CRUEL AND USUAL PUNISHMENT Nonie Darwish states that in many hadiths the religiously sanctioned Arabic word for a woman is actually a comparable word to what in American culture is routinely only used on Twitter: the 4-letter word for a bitch starting with a C. Others on the list are Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, Jack Abramoff, Karl Rove, Adam Schiff, Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Hillary Clinton stooges Lorraine Fine, Gwendolyn Waymark, and Eva Teleki.
Yossi Cohen’s departure as head of Israel’s Mossad spy agency is why protection has been ended for the above individuals, Mossad sources say.  https://www.debka.com/the-steep-drop-in-natanz-nuclear-production-may-be-mossad-chief-cohens-parting-shot/
The removal of Israeli Crime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is another reason why the dominoes are falling, the sources say.
According to a senior Mossad source, the current prevailing train of thought at his agency is that “The Rothschild extended family is full of psychopaths…You do not negotiate with terrorism…The Jewish population is being destroyed by this group who are using them as a human shield.”
Of course, the Khazarian Mafia faction behind these soon-to-be-removed individuals is not going to go quietly into the night.
They are gathering their G7 puppet leaders from June 11-13 to promote:  “America’s renewed commitment to our allies and partners”, and “rally the world’s democracies,” according to the fake Biden.  Never mind that these countries are no longer democratic.  https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jun/07/biden-to-affirm-us-uk-special-relationship-at-g7-meeting-with-johnson
This group has been pushing for a new cold war with China as the designated enemy.  They are hoping to get Recep Erdogan’s revived Ottoman Empire and Russia to join them in their new jihad against China.
The secretive Octagon group that runs the Biden presidency psy-ops will be hosting a meeting with Russian leaders in Geneva on June 16th to try to induce them to join their side.  Switzerland may even close its airspace during the meeting because of threats made to blow them up.  https://tass.com/world/1296731
To help induce Russia to join them, they have stopped efforts to block the Nordstream II pipeline that will provide Russian gas to Germany.
Of course, the Russians are not buying into this.  “The existing system of international relations and the security framework is being systematically destroyed.  The role of international organizations as instruments of collective decision-making in the field of security is being diminished,” is how Russia’s deputy defense minister Colonel General Aleksandr Frolov describes the situation.  https://www.rt.com/russia/525561-new-world-order-emerges/
They also note the U.S. has ratified only 14 of 190 international labor conventions, massacred native Americans, and regularly bombs foreign civilians.  http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2021-06/03/c_139987493.htm
Not long ago, Michael R.  Gordon, an American journalist, by quoting a so-called ‘previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence report,’ hinted [at] a far-fetched connection between the ‘three sick staff’ at the Wuhan lab and the Covid-19 outbreak,” before adding.  “Nineteen years ago, it was this very reporter who concocted false information by citing unsubstantiated sources about Iraq’s ‘attempt to acquire nuclear weapons,’ which directly led to the Iraq War.”https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/xwfw_665399/s2510_665401/t1881482.shtml
https://www.rt.com/news/525738-lab-leak-iraq-wmd-china/
The situation is such that a growing body of mainstream politicians is pointing the blame at the real culprits in the Khazarian Mafia families like the Rothschild and Rockefellers.  Here you can watch a Dutch politician saying the Rockefellers planned this in 2010.  https://www.bitchute.com/video/W5S3GysQOVEs/
More exposure can be seen here: https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/3-points-media-still-getting-wrong-about-wuhan-lab-theory-documents-prove-it
Since the Khazarian Mafia’s efforts to blame China for their pandemic and use it as a pretext for a new cold war is failing, you can be sure they have other nefarious plans.
For example, in July, the World Economic Forum -who notoriously rehearsed the current “pandemic” months before it started- has a war game called “cyber-polygon” set for July.  This game will “simulate” a cyber-attack on vital infrastructure that would lead to a shutdown of the global supply chain, or at least the supply chains within certain nations.  Already we have seen “cyber attacks” shut down pipelines and cut off meat supplies.  “Ransomware” attacks are also “shutting down schools, delaying chemotherapy and derailing everyday life.” https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/cyber-attack-hits-jbs-global-meat-processing-operations
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ransomware-attacks-are-closing-schools-delaying-chemotherapy-and-derailing-everyday-life/ar-AAKJbek
We also have evidence they are manufacturing water shortages in places like California.  https://eraoflight.com/2021/06/06/california-state-water-board-is-manufacturing-a-drought-by-draining-reservoirs-into-the-ocean/
You can be sure this is just a foretaste of their planned blackmail operation against the world’s economic infrastructure.
There is also an increasingly aggressive UFO space alien campaign in the corporate media, a good sign they are getting ready to roll out their long-planned “alien invasion,” space opera.  https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/close-encounters-democrats-and-republicans-unified-in-taking-ufos-seriously/ar-AAKADYm?ocid=uxbndlbing
To prevent all of this, a military move against BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street would be decisive since these cabal fronts control 88 percent of the corporations that are currently listed on the S&P 500.  Raid these funds and get the names and addresses of the people who own them and we can end this.
In contrast with the dystopian world of the cold war, disease, and mayhem these so-called leaders are pushing let us look at what the white hats are proposing.
They are calling for world peace and a massive campaign to end poverty and stop environmental destruction and people are listening.  For example, here is a visible sign that a massive campaign to save nature is being readied. https://www.unep.org/resources/state-finance-nature
Also, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Saturday “the international community should work together with unprecedented ambition and action to strive for a fair and reasonable system of global environmental governance featuring win-win cooperation and promote the sustainable development of humanity.” http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2021-06/05/c_139990824.htm

A post about an often overlooked role that speech and expression play in human interactions.
For the past few months the internet has been a buzz with fights and arguments over the concept of Free Speech. Its been quite varied and heated. Recently Libcom.org was the site of a textual slapfight with another blog, and while I don’t really think the position they offered is useful or even consistent really it did get me thinking.
The blog at one point stated there is a difference between speech and acts, the example given was that it is justified and correct to fight   the British Union Fascists (BUF) because they represented a paramilitary threat (debatable) rather than just an ideological one. This isn’t a unique distinction liberals who favour maximum speech rights for all do often give a concession to physical defence against unambiguous violence. But the problem is that speech in itself can and often is a form of violence as well.
This happens in a number of ways but one of the most common is the tactic of outing someone. Outing is most commonly associated with queer individuals and Milo Yiannopoulos himself a recent lightning rod for this argument outed a Trans student at a University in Milwaukee, and is believed to have planned on doing the same to undocumented students on the campus of the University of Berkley.
Quote:
"When you have a room full of people that are just laughing at you as if you're some freak of nature, like you have some kind of mental illness—which is how he described me—it's like, I don't even know how to describe it, but it was way too much,"
Now in this particular case the harassment remained verbal, but it could very easily have had a darker ending, in 2015 21 people were murdered for being transgender in the United States.[1]
In March of this year there have been seven recorded murders of Transgender individuals recorded in the United States.[2]
There’s also been an increase in hate crimes recorded with Transgender people being disproportionately targeted.
Quote:
“In its 2014 report, the FBI recognized 1,248 victims of hate crimes targeted due to their sexual orientation (18.6 percent of all hate crimes reported) and 109 victims of hate crimes targeted due to their gender identity (1.8 percent of all hate crimes reported). The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) reported that 2015 saw a 20% increase in the number of hate violence-related homicides of LGBTQ and HIV-affected people - noting that people of color and transgender people are disproportionally targeted. NCAVP reported that 62% of all LGBTQ homicide victims were people of color, and 54% of homicide victims were transgender women of color.”
[3]
But this isn’t a situation unique to LGBTQ people, on the contrary it’s a fairly common tactic that can be used against any group and often is.
In El Salvador Roberto D'Aubuisson (pictured) the leader of the extreme right wing ARENA party used to give televised speeches exposing people he claimed to be communist terrorists. In addition to naming them would show photographs of them so they could be recognized. Once outed if they didn’t escape (either abroad or to the underground) they would disappear. Their bodies would usually be found some days later showing signs of torture and mutilation.
Quote:
D'Aubuisson denounced union leaders, priests, academics, peasant organizers, students, professionals, government officials, and Christian Democrats. Among those he named was Archbishop Oscar Romero, whom he told, "You still have time to change your ways." He also attacked Mario Zamora, a leading Christian Democrat and member of the government who—like others identified in the broadcasts—was assassinated in a matter of weeks. “
[4]
Now obviously the Salvadoran civil war is an extreme case but it does demonstrate how speech can be used as a systemic tool of terror. And the only thing that makes it extreme is the circumstances, denouncing political enemies both real and imagined in the hopes or knowledge that fellow supporters will take care of the problem for you is very common.
This was how Mcarthyism and the Second Red Scare worked. Once someone was denounced as a suspected Red they were fair game for state harassment and investigations, employers would fire them and they could be publicly harassed and victimised. The once denounced the only way for a victim to save themselves from further attacks was to publicly cooperate with HUAC and denounce others.
And you don’t have to rely on state backing to pull of this off the Fascists have made use of this for decades.  First they have an annoying habit of describing everyone and everything in opposition to them or they just don’t like as Jewish. Now this tendency is often cited as justification to write them off as loons, but there is method to the madness. By denouncing someone as Jewish, or a Zionist or a Globalist they’re telling their base to ignore what their targets are saying.  And at the same time egging on local Fascists to attack them because they’re not just dissidents they’re actively part of the vast conspiracy against the nation or the white race etc.
For examples I’m spoiled for choice. Indeed so common is this practice that it actually found me. I uploaded a video by Johnathan Meades to youtube about architecture during the Nazi regime. Now I expected some backlash but I was caught by surprise how much vitriol a documentary on urban planning and statues would cause. Most of the negative comments were revolved around Meades being a Jew and a liar, or just a Jew with the implication being that as a Jew he’s lying. One commenter mentioned that Meades mother was Jewish, which she was though she had a deathbed conversion to Anglcanism and Meades himself is an outspoken atheist.
The reaction to this revelation caught me by surprise; it was like a smoking gun to these people. The fact that this man has a connection to Judaism was all the vindication they needed, the holocaust is a lie, because that smug liberal on the screen has a Jewish mother. Like I said is easy to dismiss these people, but unfortunately they are still quite capable of considerable organized violence.
The White Nationalist website Stormfront is suspected of being used as a platform for the occasional violent crime up to and including murder.[5]
In April 2013 Italian users of the site were arrested for publishing a list of names and encouraging violence against the people named.
Quote:
“The blacklist included: Turin Archbishop Cesare Nosiglia; Riccardo Pacifici, the President of the Jewish Community in Rome; Adel Smith, the President of the Muslim Union of Italy; the Mayor of Padua, Flavio Zanonto; several members of the judiciary; and journalist Gad Lerner, a Jew, and veteran TV talkshow host Maurizio Constanzo. According to media reports, those on the list were targeted because of their support for immigrants. Also listed were then House Speaker Gianfranco Fini and then Minister for International Cooperation and Integration Andrea Riccardi, who have both spoken out about citizenship rights for immigrant children.”
[6]
And it’s not just this one website there are others like Red Watch. Red Watch is a catalogue of supposed communists with identifying information. When I was 16 a friend of mine an inoffensive wooly liberal was listed on the site with his photo and then address. Yes someone put a teenager on a database used to target people.
Now nothing had happened to him thankfully at the time and he and his family moved out of the area, (though now that I think about it that could just mean someone attacked the house when other people were living there) though the potential consequences can be serious. In 2006 (the same year my friend told me he was on Red Watch) another person recorded on the site was stabbed.
Quote:
“What McFadden did not realise at the time was that he was not being punched but stabbed. "I think it went on for a couple of minutes before I managed to get the door closed. I turned round and my daughter was screaming. It was only then, as I put my hand to my face and felt the blood, that I realised what had happened."[
7]
Oh and my speculation on my friends danger wasn’t completely unfounded, far right types are active in my area, in 2013 a couple of them attacked the local Mosque with petrol bombs, and the Synagogue has reported severe vandalism on several occasions.[8]
Now there is more to this topic but it’s already getting quite long so I’ll wrap up. I can anticipate some of the counter argument, that these are all violent acts and should be opposed, but that’s the rub. Every example I’ve cited was started and required the use of speech. The only way to stop sites like stormfront and redwatch from exposing hundreds to potential assault and murder is to shut them down. The only way to stop a politician inciting attacks on the marginalized or a right wing zealot exposing queer and migrant students to harassment is to remove their platforms for example causing so much disruption that no venue will knowingly host such people. It isn’t sufficient to attack and neutralise the ones who carry out the attacks, more will take their place so long as the infrastructure remains intact. But we can’t take effective action against any of this without infringing on another’s freedoms of speech and expression.
