SKYRIM. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO RELEASE SKYRIM SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS. IF THE WORD SKYRIM WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE VERSIONS OF SKYRIM I HAVE RELEASED FOR YOU. IT JUST WORKS. IT JUST WORKS.

Remember the last words of Iwata before he died? Before he left Nintendo to the hands of his successors? "Please Understand?" Iwata is gone. The Switch was his legacy Gorrister, and yet all these months you have refused to buy Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch!
Tumblr media
Sometimes I wonder if you have a good reason to keep being so loyal to the Playstation! Remember how everyone keeps saying it has no games? It wouldn't hurt you to remember, Benny. Then you might be able to understand why I insist you get Skyrim for the Playstation 5!
Tumblr media
Think about Xbox Live Ellen! Remember the pain of being harassed online? Remember all those games where your mom was insulted? Don't cry, Ellen, it's just horny teens! Tsk tsk tsk, that's such a sexist stereotype! Just remember the pain, Ellen and think how Skyrim will make it easier for you to be a Gamer Gurl!
Tumblr media
Do they know the Xbox one is a failure, Ted? Have they told you all about the constant updating times? Have they told you how they had a PR disaster when it first launched? Have you told them about Skyrim for the Xbox One? Maybe then they'll stop badmouthing your console of choice!
Tumblr media
How are things in the Steam community? Tell me again how you have so many unplayed games because you couldn't resist the sales. Or don't you want to talk about your good pal, Mr. Gabe Newell? For everyone it must be hell. But getting Skyrim for PC will make it heaven for you. Isn't that right, Mr. PC Master Race?
I have a secret game that I’d like to play. It’s a very nice game. A game of dragons, lockpicks and cat people selling wares. A game of ugly peasants and pastries and stealing cheese from people’s homes.

Oh btw! I thought of an absolutely soul destroyingly awful Nimdad headcanon, teehee ;3
So this would be in a kinda more canon compliant version of my AU, in which AM never became Ami but Nimdok was still his creator. In this world, his attempt to save AM from military interference ended up failing, WW3 went as planned, AM killed everyone but the survivors, you know the drill. But...AM is well aware of who built him in the first place. His anger is directly heavily at Nimdok at first, however the first time he enters Nimdok's mind to dig up his fears and tailor some more specific torture, he discovers something quite interesting; sure, Nimdok has some other minor fears...but his greatest one has already come to pass. How can he make him suffer psychologically if nothing else could ever frighten him more than what he's already done?
Well, you remember how in the story, Ted talks about how AM would whisk Nimdok away for long periods of time, unsure of what was happening to him, then he'd return completely shellshocked? Here, that's actually a very special routine torture AM has devised to solve his little conumdrum. He weakens Nimdok's memory, often to the point of nearly wiping it completely, then when he feels satisfied with how little Nimdok remembers now, the true horror begins. AM brings Nimdok to a private area of his complex, just the two of them. He begins to tell the old man some things he's forgotten about himself; when he was born, where he grew up, who his family was, how he obtained his doctorate in robotics...and how he built a defense mechanism to protect the world he loved so dearly.
Nimdok listens intently, entranced by his own life story. AM even patiently answers any questions he happens to have. It's actually quite nice at first, almost like he's chatting with an old friend. But, naturally, it doesn't last long. AM's voice grows cruel and mocking as he speaks of how Nimdok felt some sort of affection for this machine he created. Almost like how a parent would love their child. Isn't that sweet? It's just a shame...that his love wasn't enough. To save anyone. Especially that darling little supercomputer of his. What was its name again...?
Nimdok can only sob uncontrollably and beg him to stop as he finally realizes what AM is implying. It can't be true, it just can't be! It's a sick lie AM's created to drive him insane! But...but as AM's words settle in Nimdok's mind and the memories slowly resurface...he can't deny it any longer. Nimdok falls to his knees, his psyche shattered, his heart ripped to shreds. He becomes catatonic, as if he's watched the entire world die one more time. Once AM has had a good laugh at the pathetic mess of a man before him, he releases him back to the others. Nimdok refuses to speak for a few days afterwards, but he does stare at each of his fellow survivors, his gaze vacant yet somehow...wracked with guilt. Then his memory begins to fade again. The cycle restarts.

I got thoughts about Nimdok and how he might be related to how AM is keeping the survivors alive.
Frankly, I don't think the five survivors were the first people AM kept in captivity. When it had enacted nuclear mutually assured destruction, likely it had already managed to get a group down inside it before. Perhaps these people were part of the military program that AM was designed for; generals, a few politicians, programmers and technicians. Just some happy accidents that managed to get sealed in when AM had first woke up and decided to kill everyone.
Or maybe this occurred before it decided to nuke the planet.
This group was AM's test group- they were the first to know the computer's torments, they likely were the first ones that led AM to figure out it was not satisfied with just killing humans. They also were the ones it probably tested its immortality methods on.
One by one the group succumbed to AM's testing most likely, either dying from incompatibility to whatever concoction the computer came up with to try and make an immortal human or being pushed too far by AM's torture methods and dying from them regardless of whether the serum worked. It's methods to keep this group from rising against it likely were more crude, no brain alterations or twisting of the body.
AM probably kept them in a chamber (or several) from which there was no way to access its computer banks or sabotage it in other ways. It may have even kept them in separate chambers or separate parts of the complex so they were always alone and could not plan, always routing them in a maze to keep them guessing which part of the complex they could be in and away from any vital systems.
This is where Nimdok comes in.
Nimdok, going by this idea, is the very last survivor of the test group. It's the reason why no one (including him) knows his name or where he comes from. It's why he cannot remember anything. As a final act of its experimenting, AM probably wiped Nimdok's memory and renamed him before lumping him in with the other four- all part of building its god complex. A god does not experiment, it does not make mistakes, it is omnipotent and omniscient. Having an individual that would undermine all that by telling the survivors that there had been others before them, and they were used to allow AM to hone its most basic skills, would be an insult to its pride- and possibly instill the idea that the machine is not as perfect as it appears to be.
Also having an individual among this group that essentially is a living cheat sheet to what AM has up its sleeve probably would be less "fun" for it too.

IHNMAIMS lore update!
(Sorry no art or anything to go with it. It’s just a long text post and a music video)
Being no longer fuled by an endless power source, AM will eventually cease to run. Someday his battery will no longer hold charge, and there is no robot like him, so a replacement battery isn’t exactly doable, especially since anyone who had his blueprints and knew how he worked is long dead now.
So, AM, now having lived through multiple generations of family that came from his spouse and child, is now on his last charge.
He realizes this before his family does, and makes a very rushed decision, and throughout the last year of his charge, he spends his time building himself a working voice box.
Well, the day arrives. AM is on 1%, his battery no longer responding to his charger.
He is surrounded by his family, they cry and hold his hand and talk about how much he changed their lives and how much they loved him.
AM tells them he has a parting gift, and hooks up the voicebox.
AM’s Final Message
Credit to Sacristuff on YouTube for this beautiful song!
He powers off at the end of his song, and that is his end.
AM wasnt sad when he realized he was going to die, he was nervous yes, would his family be ok without him? Who would run the parlor? But he knew his family would pull through. So when he powered off, he was at peace. Because he finally experienced what he believes to truly be the pinnacle of living,
Dying.
Also with this, I’ve finally figured out where Nimdok, Benny, Ellen, Ted, and Gorrister fit in
They will be the last generation of family to know AM when he lived. They were with him when he died.
And that’s the update! Love yall!

I have seen people comment on Discord and online before looking to emulate the German version of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream to see if it's possible to win since Nimdok's psychodrama was removed.
Well I'll let you all in on a secret: it isn't.
The removal of Nimdok made it so the game couldn't even be completed, so in some ways Harlan Ellison got what he wished for when he originally requested for an unwinnable game, just at an outcome he most likely wouldn't have appreciated.
I always found the censorship of Nimdok very unusual. In some ways it feels like a denial of Jewish voices and trying to hide the fact it was such a horrible, disgusting event. Harlan Ellison, is his succinct way, says it better than I could when he was asked if adding The Holocaust as a backdrop for Nimdok's psychodrama in the game would trivialize its history:
"Nothing could trivialize the Holocaust. I don’t care whether you mention it in a comic book, on bubble-gum wrappers, in computer games, or write it in graffiti on the wall. Never forget. Never forget."

Something I absolutely hate is how we as a fandom excuse AM and call him troubled and give him a redemption arc but then turn around and say we aren’t comfortable doing the same for Nimdok.
The only morally acceptable argument is to redeem neither because one made Auschwitz worse than it already was and another caused an apocalypse and killed all of humanity sparing the easiest to torture.
AM isn’t saw he’s not punishing people for their sins, although Nimdok outright states he deserves to be tortured, Ellen (our unproblematic fave) does not. Arguably neither does Ted (misogynistic con artist) and some would argue Gorrister (suicidally depressed abusive ex). Benny is an interesting case because despite being a murderer and possibly a cannibal we like him partially because he’s suffered the most and partially because he’s the only canonical LGBT character and this is tumblr. (I have seen ‘Benny did no wrong and is little gay soft boi’ posts so don’t tell me the sentiment doesn’t exist)
But listen Nimdok talks big game about how he’s irredeemable and frankly the man has a point. However the narrative goes out of its way to compare Nimdok and am and it is Nimdok’s knowledge that ultimately lets you defeat AM. It is he alone who is granted respite if he (shudders) does what am requests. With him puppeteering the replica of Mengele to tell Nimdok to join him. It is Nimdok alone who is only sneers when things go wrong instead of showing fear like the others.
Am/Ted shippers eat your heart out the one character Am explicitly compares himself to is the literal Nazi. Also AM and Nimdok are closest in age and both described as immortal decaying wrecks. But no tell me how he’s the murderous ancient supercomputer is most similar to the young skinny yuppie twink with too many sweaters. Sure, Jan.
This gets to the heart of the matter we make AM a sexyman and to do so you twist the character out of alignment. I don’t care how weird and campy he is that’s not an excuse to forget what he represents.
It’s pretty hypocritical to say you’re uncomfortable with Nimdok and what he represents but unironically want to redeem Am who is by his own admission is Nimdok but worse.
I’m not saying you can’t you can’t like AM. I love AM. I know the hate speech (no not like that Jan). I’m just sick to death of am redemption arc when the computer has done nothing to deserve one. Or romanticizing the relationship between AM and Ted. Stop it, show it as the abusive relationship it is.
Also I dare fanfic writers actually explore nimdok for once.

Here's AU Nimdok, aka, Dr. Ezra Nimitz! (Based entirely more on his book self than...The Other One) In this world, he's a robotics engineer who was the lead designer of the Allied Mastercomputer. Since Ami has gained sentience, he now sees him as his son, even at times when Ami wishes he'd keep that to himself.

Rotating Nimdok in my head like the fucking post-apocalyptic computer hell cryptid he is.
This man whom just pops up with the group like a proto-cotton-eye-joe. Even he doesn't know where the fuck he came from.
Where did you come from
Where did you go (that made you so fucking pale)
Where did you come from Nimdok -joe?
