For the first half of "Something To Believe In" when Katherine is talking about what love is and how she's come to understand it, Jack can't even look at her. He withdraws so much, he looks terrified, he can't figure out how to stand or what to do with his hands. He can't bring himself to believe that she means him, that a girl like her really could end up with a guy like him. He's afraid she's about to break the spell. Even as she starts expressing how she feels about him, and going toward him, he looks like all he wants to do is run away. And then she lays her hand on his, and then they're holding hands, and he turns to her and he sees she's not going anywhere, and you know he never wants to let go.
