hey! you asked for tips with dealing with eds, and I'm sure you'll have heard the standard 'hot water bottles/pain killers/braces' etc, so I thought I'd send some more niche ones that really help me?

my rheumatologist told me to stop crossing my legs when I sit on a chair. obvs it's hard to do as it's something so natural, but it makes your body asymmetrical which, for someone with eds, can cause a whoooole bunch of broblems

symmetry in general is key! try not to lean on one side/leg when standing, sit in a symmetrical position etc

ankle boots are great for holding together loose ankles

muscle tone is one of the best things for helping people with eds as it quite literally holds your body together - if you wanted to go to the gym, aim for small weights but high rep (which is the opposite of what most ✨gym people✨ go for but it's far better for us bendy folks in the long run)

yoga seems to be every non-disabled person's suggestion but with eds it's really not good... the whole culture of (western) yoga has become so much about being the person who can bend the most in this pose and lean back the farthest and whatnot, but with eds it's literally one of the worst things you can do because it encourages you to overstretch. I personally used to love yoga, and I do it far less frequently now I know I have eds but whenever I do I make sure to basically only do half the poses. It's hard to ignore what the instructor or even your brain is telling you, but you can still get the meditative benefits from it without doing damage to yourself!

insoles! a lot of problems can actually be caused by poor posture from walking and the lack of collagen in our bodies can cause flat feet too, so insoles can help even things out. cheap ones will do, but if you've got the means it's great to see a specialist to get ones made purposefully for you

i would say, and this is a pretty random one, but i really love reunions? something about the sheer yearning and heartache of two characters being separated (whether by circumstance or choice) makes their inevitable coming back together so unbelievably good. like idk i eat it up every single time and in my wip i might be planning something akin to that....who knows....👀

tbh I think the money is only like a secondary perk, it's because she's just always gunning for the biggest first week sales possible (which is why we got all those folklore variants, but then after they changed the rule that preorders only count in the week they're dispatched she only bothered with one evermore variant because she couldn't get the extra first week sales from it). I don't really mind variants like different colours or cover art, those feel more like a case of picking your favourite or being a collector, but I hate when it involves exclusive tracks on different variants — it feels like it's turning the core of what the album is about (the music and specifically how this collection of songs is arranged to form a single work) into a business move which is :/

Hello @angelicminds here! I am here to send you a podcast idea while also chatting with you hehe. So you mentioned in the last podcast you wrote a lot of fan fics. I, me, yes I also write a lot of fan fics. I still do it, even tho I am focused on my book atm. So I was wondering how you feel about the difference in audience?

I am not big in my fandom but big enough to get constant interaction with people, especially when I post something. However, I haven't got that yet writing original fiction. I... am struggling a little with the reduce "fame" for the lack of a better word. I feel so insecure all the time about my writing, as I have never published something and yeah I am just very new to writing original fiction. So I wanted to know your experience with it and how you deal with the difference between fan fic audience and original fiction audience. I hope that made sense, it was hard to form a thought hahah. firstly this is such a great discussion/question, and i have already recorded a podcast episode about it hehe (i got excited).

but to give u a bit of an answer now i would say there's DEFINITELY a difference in audience. of course i do love the writing community and the ways ppl champion others' wips/writing even without having read the whole thing or anything like that. i especially love events like nanowrimo and equivalents cos it really brings everyone together.

but, it does feel undeniably lonely, far more so than fandom where you build up mutuals and a following because of your shared passion for the characters + piece of media you're all invested in.

here i feel like im sort of shouting into the void sometimes and that no one really cares,, which makes me miss fandom at times 😭
