i keep seeing people say "oh eddie would be x in a modern au" "eddie would be y in a modern au" and im ???

a modern day eddie would still be a metalhead dnd player who's probably read the LoTR triology more than once; he'd just also own all the movies and know a bunch of useless trivia about the actual filming and production.

he'd probably still be a drug dealer, still gets held back a year in high school, probably has a second hand phone with a cracked screen that he only uses to listen to music, skips class because his teachers don't like him, runs a dnd club either in the drama room or the art room, either forges notes to get out of phys ed or just doesn't show up, he strikes me as someone who enjoys the process of burning music onto cd's so he probably has a bunch of mixtapes in his glove box and steve would hate driving with him bc his car wouldn't have an AUX port or anything so he'd either have to listen to the radio or eddie's music

a modern day eddie would still be eddie, he'd just have the luck of getting to experience all the nerdy shit that comes out after the 80's and also modern technology

#it just always catches me off guard bc i guess i just don't understand why people think he'd be any different?? #things that still exist today: metalheads + dungeons & dragons + kids getting bullied for being weird #eddie munson #he probably gets dragged into ZiNG ever weekend by the kids and he acts all put out about it but he always leaves w new dnd stuff #idk what the american equivalent of ZiNG is so you get the australian pop culture nerd store instead fjkdh #i can imagine him working somewhere like Sanity (another australian store; this one sells music/movies/books about music/boardgames) #he'd still smoke and play guitar and sew patches onto his battle vest and wear his hair long #idk why im so fixated on this but just!! you don't have to completely change a character to adapt them to a modern setting

Home from day one of @legendsconsortium. It was a great day and an great convention.

Saw some awesome panels, took a writing workshop with Michael Stackpole, bought some prints and a set of Rogue One figures, and managed to get five of the books I took signed (and even bought two more to be signed while I was there because why would I not?).

Looking forward to day two tomorrow and an attempt at one more sighing.

finished maybe my last ever spring break by going to two parties over the weekend and then monday classes immediately remind me that the last half of the semester is gonna be approximately five times as much work as the first half AND i need to start looking for jobs
