alright, so uh. I know I don’t post on tumblr very often (more like at all but I digress), but I just real quick wanted to talk about something that has happened over the past couple days.

I started using a cane for the first time.

Now, this doesn’t seem like a terribly big revelation, like… what, big deal, you use a cane to get around. But I’ve been dealing with so much internalized ableism against me using any form of mobility aid that me finally reaching the point of ‘yeah, I think I genuinely need something like this to function’ is … kinda a big deal to me? I guess? Like… I can’t ignore my disability anymore. I can’t just say ‘oh it’s not that bad’ when my knees give out under me anymore, I actually have to face the fact that there’s something wrong and I need to take the time to fix it.

I’m thinking about trying to do like, occasional art diary type stuff when I have the spoons for it to kind of show my progress in not only figuring out what specific disability I have (though the lovely urgent care doctor I saw said she feels like it may be some form of arthritis), but my progress in accepting this new stage of my life.

If anyone’s wondering how the printmaking class turned out, it went really well! my classmates all likes my zone (they said the art style was really cute which made me happy) and a copy of it is actually going into my school’s special collections!! My silly little xenogender zine has come so far already and I’m so happy 😭
