My 5 Favorite Legal J-Dramas

I love them because they have perfect balance of seriousness and humour, not too dark and not too comedic. And the chemistry of the main leads are fun to watch with their constant bickering. 😂

1. Hero (2001)

Kuryu (Kimura Takuya) is an unconventional prosecutor who has a habit of investigating the criminals himself before prosecuting, which agitates his paralegal, Amamiya (Matsu Takako) has it delays the process while more cases are piling up, and often conflicts with the police who thinks he does not trust their investigation skills.

The series is so good that it has a second season with a newcomer played by Keiko Kitagawa, a special episode with Haruka Ayase and a movie with both Keiko Kitagawa and Matsu Takako. I like their chemistry, not just between the main leads but the supporting characters as well that got pulled into Kimura Takuya's shenanigans.

2. Miss Justice (2018)

A similar tale of a public prosecutor, Ririko (Yoshitaka Yuriko) whose strong sense of justice get in her daily work as she takes time to solve each cases diligently, playing the role of a "detective" to ascertain that the suspects are really guilty before she prosecutes them. However, it only delays her other cases which snowballs.

This agitates her older and experienced paralegal (Yasuda Ken) who is tasked to ensure she completes each task on time without delay. But over time, both him and the entire department who got pulled into her shenanigans finally understands her reasoning and begin to respect her as a fellow prosecutor and not as a newbie.

3. Police and Prosecutor (2023)

Gota (Kiritani Kenta) and Minami (Higa Manami) are siblings who work as a law enforcer and a paralegal respectively. She works for an ambitious public prosecutor, Shuhei (Higashide Masahiro) whose values and principles are opposite of Gota, which often puts them at odds with one another when they work together on every case.

While Minami and Shuhei know the grey world in their line of work, Gota is a brash detective who only sees thing in black and white which often puts them at odds with one another. But their opposing personalities and styles of work eventually help to solve the cases in arresting and prosecuting the right criminal.

4. Ishiko and Haneo (2022)

Ishiko (Kasumi Arimura) is an obstinate law graduate who aspired to be a lawyer but after failing the bar four times, she gives up her dreams and works as a paralegal at her father's private law firm where she met the prodigy Haneo (Nakamura Tomoya) who passed the bar on first attempt due to his photographic memory.

Ishiko is a bit insecure in having to work with a prodigy while Haneo is actually terrible at adapting that he often mask it with his "superior intellectual". Their different personalities and styles of working contradict each other as the two of them, with their own inferiority complexes, are thrown together to solve cases.

5. Binta : Love and Law (2022)

Minowa (Matsumoto Toshio) is a former delinquent who doesn't have a regular job and never really thought seriously about life until he had to look after his young step-sister left behind by his late father. He lands a job as clerk, working for a strong headed lawyer, Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka) who is dumbfounded by his "stupidity".

But his strong sense of justice is a welcoming change that she needed having work in a corporate law firm surrounded by "vultures" that the two decided to start their own private firm to genuinely help people that really need help and not simply for the big money. But with each case, they realize things are not as simple as they think.

UTDP Season 2 Begins!

I’ve finally done it. All the sprites I need are at the ready to be used for some weird, funky interactions. Season 2 of UTDP is underway!

Now, I hope with this you’ll all be submitting your own requests, but since we’re about to enter the new series, it’s probably best if we go over the rules. Rule 1: Only the characters listed below will be allowed to be requested.

Not every Danganronpa character will allowed to be requested, particularly obscure one’s who don’t have a whole lot of character to them. However, my goal for this series is to include as many characters as possible. This is a long list too, so if there’s a certain character that you’re looking for, the list below is in Alphabetical Order by first name, so you can search for it that way. Not only that, but after each name will be the game/source material where that character is from, in case you don’t recognize some of them.

Rule 2: Only 3 characters are allowed per interaction.

In order to replicate the game to the best of it’s ability, each interaction may only allow 2 or 3 characters and no more. As of such, I hope the requests will abide by this rule, since I’ve gotten requests before involving way more than three.

Rule 3: Credit for all fan-made sprites go to their original owners.

If you want to use the sprites I use for your own projects, then I have no problems with that personally, but just to be clear, most of these sprites aren’t mine. If their not from the original game, then they’re fan-creations and the rights go to their original creators. A new page has opened up on my Tumblr where all the sprites original sources are located, and you can go and check them out there.

Rule 4: The New System.

As I’ve made clear before, not all interactions are requests. I have a long list of interactions that I pre-wrote for this series a while ago, and I intend to get all of those done. As of such I will be going by a new system. I’ll be uploading two interactions per day from now on. One will be a request, and the other will be one of my writes. I’ve delayed people enough, so that is why I am going to be going with this system so I can stay on track.

Rule 5: Reddit Requests will no longer be accepted.

As unfortunate as it may seem to some, I will no longer be accepting requests delivered to me through Reddit. Only asks that are sent directly through Tumblr will be allowed now, but I WILL finish all requests on Reddit before I end it. The ban is in place as of now though, so if you request through the Reddit link, I will not answer your request.

Rule 6: Additional Rules may be added as this series goes on depending on feedback.

This isn’t put in place because I don’t trust people, but say for example there’s a character from the list that isn’t on it that you REALLY think deserves to be on it, then let me know, and I will consider it. Same goes for any other aspect of this rule list.

Granzella Reveals New Details About Disaster Report 5

  In a recent live stream, Granzella revealed some new details about Disaster Report 5.

  It will have an open world and its story takes place three years after the first Disaster Report game. Additionally, the game's story is set near Stiver Island, where the first game also took place.

  Granzella's chief creator Kazuma Kujo also mentioned that characters from previous entries will make an appearance, including the first Disaster Report's Natsumi Higa and Masayuki Sudo. He clarified that while Sudo was the protagonist in the first game, he will not be so in Disaster Report 5.

  However, it seems like Natsumi Higa's brother is. During a live stream last year, Kujo said, "Last time, she was 22 or 23 years old, but now she is a college student. Her brother is the main character of the story. And the story is about his big sister coming to pick him up. It’s set in the fall. Open-world."

  She was 17 in the first Disaster Report and 23 in Disaster Report 4, where she now worked as a high school teacher. Given that Disaster Report 5 takes place after the first game, it makes sense she is college-aged but still younger than she was in the fourth game.

  The platforms for Disaster Report 5 have not yet been announced.

Original 05/29/18 at 6:51 a.m.: The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has new information on Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories, introducing the beginning the individual characters the protagonist will encounter at the beginning of the story.

The screenshot above presents the following dialogue options to the player:

Seeing him like that, I…

feel sorry for him and want him to give it one more shot.

feel sorry for him, but there’s nothing I can do.

think, ‘What a pathetic guy. I don’t want to end up like him.’

think he seems pretty carefree despite the major earthquake we just had.

Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories is due out for PlayStation 4 in 2018 in Japan.

Update 05/30/18 at 1:13 a.m.: More than 60 characters will appear in the game, more than any previous entry in the series. The series’ traditional and bountiful dialogue options will also return.

Here are some of the characters you will meet early on in the game (their names are our best guess given that we do not know the official readings):

Female Protagonist: Yuuko Ichikawa (22) – You can change the protagonist’s name, gender, appearance, and occupation.

Job-Hunting College Senior: Shinji Taneda (22) – He came to the city for an interview at a major corporation when a big earthquake hit, and his final interview was cancelled.

Layed-Off Salaryman: Tsutomu Kawamura (53) – A middle-aged man who was layed off due to corporate restructuring. He pretends to go to work every day, but kills the time at the park.

Apparel Designer: Akemi Towada (24) – Designer and manager at an up-and-coming apparel shop. The shop suffers damage from the earthquake shortly after opening, and she and the staff are working towards reviving it.

New High School Teacher: Natsumi Higa (23) – A new English teacher at a private high school. She goes out into the city to bring back the students playing hooky when the earthquake hits.

The story starts with the protagonist on a bus when a major earthquake hits, turning the bus on its side.

By getting disaster information on your smartphone, you can get information about the state of the city and clues about how to get out of the city.

You may also be able to steal and wear clothes from the mannequins lined up at the apparel shop.
