summary: When Lucy’s lead actress drops her directorial debut show less than two weeks before it goes up, Lucy must step in to replace her. “Wrong!” Evergreen yelled. “No, no, no !”

Gray paused, as Othello ’s lighting designer yelled at him from below his ladder. “I’m moving it to the left like you told me to.”

“That’s not left!”

“Specify whose left then,” Gray snapped.

It was Sunday, the day of Load-in. That prior night, most of them had shown up to help disassemble the set of the Opera Club’s performance of La traviata and had assembled their set. The next day though, with the bribe of donuts and coffee for breakfast and then gyros for lunch, the cast slowly drifted in around 10am to help with the assembling of lights and speakers. But college life dictated that everyone was sleep-deprived and cranky, resulting in no less than seven incidents like the one above and it was only 11am.

Still, under Evergreen’s blunt watch, Focus commenced.

I love that Mashima stated on live that Lucy is wearing Natsu's shirt, which he rarely uses. Mashima also said that Natsu isn't the type to wear them. LIKE HOW CAN I FUCKING SLEEP KNOWING THIS SHIT? I'M ALREADY FUCKING SURE THEY DID THE DEED.

Lucy spent the rest of the day strung thin like a thread. All she could think about was Natsu and his mouth and his hands. That look in his eyes and his I want you. Just thinking about it made her shiver in anticipation, but also –

She should not have done that. Actor-actor relationships were already messy, but a director and an actor from the same show? What would people say? She knew that it was well-known within the theatre community that the two of them were long-time friends from when they both went to Magnolia University’s Performing Arts High School Summer Program. That Natsu was a talented and in-demand actor within his own right, as he had acted in professional shows before. Natsu did not need to sleep with a director to get a role; after all, he turned down two other offers just to be Othello. Yet Lucy? Othello was the first show she had directed entirely on her own. Unprofessional workplace environment, sex as a tool to get the most talented actor attending Magnolia U, abuse of power allegations? Any of those could destroy her burgeoning directorial career or worse, her acting career. Even if it was well-known that they were close friends, even if they had been more than professional throughout all their shows until now, even if she could hear Cana’s voice insisting that “fucking it out” was a valid strategy for dealing with feelings, even if Natsu was a really good kisser, she should not continue this.

She heard a knock. Getting up from her secondhand dining room table, she opened her door to see Natsu, key ring in hand and backpack slung over his shoulder.
