Mystic Fashion, Masquerade Edition

I like all the pieces in this outfit separately - the pleated skirt is cute, it’s a great jacket, and her leggings are classy, but it just...doesn’t go together. maybe this is supposed to symbolize old-Caroline and new-Caroline still in the process of meshing, but it Looks Bad. 3.5/10

Katherine is in a great color, and the ruching is excellent. 8/10 (Lucy's belt is so darn awful we should have known she was related to Bonnie right off the bat.)

I know this is just what he had on when he got Katherine’s message, but the fact that this is Stefan’s War Room Commander outfit is just hilarious to me. He looks like Mr. Rogers, either Fred or Steve, I don’t care. 7/10

I like the pattern and the colors!! I don’t like the weird bobbly necklace, and in the wide shot you see this is one of her weird not-quite-tunic not-quite-dress things over leggings, but it’s pretty decent! 5.5/10

Here is a convenient group shot to give us the full length of Caroline’s outfit and show us all the boringly dressed characters simultaneously. Damon is in a black henley, which is my favorite of his shirt options, Alaric is in gray with pockets (again), and Jeremy is in a dark blue v-neck with a charcoal denim jacket over it. 4 for Damon, 4 for Alaric, 5 for Jeremy.

This is a terrible color for Elena, it makes her look kind of sick. I’m extra furious about this because I have Elena’s coloring and my mom just convinced me to buy a pair of cropped pants in this color, and I now have doubts about my ability to make them work. 3/10

Matt is wearing a washed out jean jacket and a darker tone of jeans, which is one of my favorites, and a nice cheery blue which brings out his eyes, so he gets points! 7/10

Mrs. Lockwood looks vaguely Grecian? 7/10

Matt is the golden boy! but I hate the weird gem in his forehead 6/10

Stefan’s mask is RED and black, because BLOOD, and has NO SHAPE because it shows NO EMOTION 9/10

This is a butterfly and I do not care what anyone else thinks. Damon is finally going to kill his ex and emerge from his cocoon a beautiful butterfly. 9/10

He thinks he is such hot shit 4.5/10

Bonnie might have THE VERY BEST mask!! the subtle colors! the shapes!! the eye shapes!! the nose!! 10/10

this is a CLASSIC mask, however. it’s understated, it’s lacy, the wings of it are gorgeous! and her hairstyle complements it so nicely!! also 10/10

ANOTHER good mask!!! the colors are so pretty!! the jagged winged edges!! I don’t like that it’s on a stick but otherwise it’s perfect 9/10

WHY ARE DAMON’S PANTS SO LONG 1/10 THIS IS A TRAVESTY HE LOOKS ABSOLUTELY SILLY

this is a very cute dress. the fabric is lovely, the satin ribbon belt is cute. i'm not sure if it’s slightly too short or if nina just has really long legs. also, this shade of lipstick is GREAT 8/10

this dress should not work. it’s like three different lengths, it’s drapey and a miniskirt and ruched all at once. and yet, it kind of really does work. the color is STUNNING on her, her shoes are AMAZING, and it looks great when she fights in it. 9/10

I just...don’t like this dress. maybe it’s just the animal print, but the style also isn’t super flattering on her. 4.5/10
