“Can we?” Nat asks, more of a hypothetical question than anything. The fight is slowly draining out of her. She’s tired. More tired than she’s ever been. She’s been running on fumes for the past year. It seems stupid that she only really starts to feel it when faced with the prospect of a good safe rest.

A good safe-ish rest with Misty Quigley.

Misty nods vigorously, “Of course! We can talk everything through tomorrow.” She sticks out a pinky finger toward Nat, “Pinky promise.”

Nat lets it hang in the space between them for a moment, eyeing it warily. How much weight does a pinky promise really hold?

But Misty’s staring at her earnestly, face flushed and smile steadily growing wider as she watches Nat watch her. Her blonde curls tumble over her shoulders and Nat is endeared. Fuck.

The night after being rescued, the surviving Yellowjackets stay overnight in a motel. Nat finds herself sharing a bed with Misty.

misty sat across from jackie "jackie..i need some advice." jackie smiles "boy problems?" jackie pulled her bag out her locker "yeah..something like that." more like girl problems "alright! lets talk out in the bleachers yeah?" misty nods happily and follows jackie with a big smile "okay..so first, tell me his name." misty nodded "his name is um richard." she just decided the boy she sat next to in science but didnt really bother to even spare him a glance.

jackie smiles brightly "awee you two would make a cute couple." misty knew that they wouldnt be a thing but whatever "you know what you should do?" misty leans foward in excitement.

nat walks out the locker room out to the bleachers to eat her lunch like always and avoid going home but something caught her eye, she saw misty staring at jackie with this lovey dovey look and she did not like it.

nat was pissed 'thats MY girlfriend.' nat was about to walk towards them with an angry expression but decided to stand by.

misty nods "okay then you push a lock of your hair behind your ear like this." jackie pushes a lock of mistys hair behind her ear making misty blush and look away making jackie giggle and continue to give advice as she placed a hand on mistys knee,it seems so stupid and embarrassing for misty to be doing this but hey jackie was the best option out of all girls.

"HEY!" misty and jackie looked to see nat "get the hell away from her." nat snarls making jackie scowl "or what?!" nat leans closer "me and misty over here need to talk." jackie rolls her eyes "go to shauna, she probably needs you like always." jackie sighs and walks off the bleachers before turning and waving to misty with a smile.

as soon as they were alone nat grabbed mistys collar making misty lift her hands in surrender "what the hell were you two doing." misty sighs "nat..i just wanted to talk with jackie, ya know girl talk?" nat looks at mistys face for a trace of lies and saw nothing so she just sighs and lets go of misty "im sorry, i didnt mean to freak out." misty shook her head "its fine nat..i dont really mind." nat sighs "i-i dont know what came over me." i was jealous of her, i wanna be the one you talk with only misty nods and gives nat a shy smile "im sorry nat but lunch is over, how about we go back." nat nods "yeah sure."
