Classic Medic, The Doctor of BLU
Classic Medic, The Doctor of BLU - The Classic Medic is the mysterious healer of Team Fortress Classic. Since the 1930's, this man has remained an enigma, with most of his files mysteriously disappearing from the Administrator's records sometime in the 1950's. However, despite staying off the radar for most of his tenure in the Gravel Wars, the Classic Medic was beloved by his original team and was regarded as a brilliant mind amongst his peers.
According to his former co-workers, Cmedic was kind, unfailingly loyal, and extremely resourceful on and off the battlefield. Cmedic was also hyper-competent in battle, easily being able to dispatch of larger mercenaries. Because of his combat prowess, he was the first in his generation to be given the informal title of "Combat Medic." He would continue to demonstrate his abilities when he began experimenting with chemical weapons, instilling fear into much of Redmond's mercenaries.
Cmedic's father emigrated from Haiti in 1909, where he would meet Cmedic's mother in Connecticut. Cmedic would be born in 1911 and would grow up a single child. His father taught him much about his Haitian heritage and instilled in him a strong sense of justice and compassion. His father was a renowned neuroscientist and his mother was a famous pathologist. Because of their impressive careers, Cmedic's parents nurtured a strong love of knowledge in Cmedic, where he would eventually discover his passion for theoretical physics. Despite this, however, Cmedic was subtly encouraged to pursue a degree in medicine instead. While Cmedic ultimately did go to medical school, he still retained a love of theoretical physics. When Cmedic joined Team Fortress Classic, he received Fred's help in refurbishing a nearby warehouse into a labratory so Cmedic could continue his research.
During Cmedic's time with BLU, he would develop an especially close romantic relationship with Cheavy. The two were nearly inseparable and would make plans to settle down once their contracts with BLU ended. Unfortunately, these plans would come crashing down after a tragic incident on November 2nd, 1952. Sometime in the middle of the night, Cmedic would disappear without a trace. Sabotage was a likely answer as the bases' cameras mysteriously shut down before Cmedic's disappearance could be captured. According to Blutarch Mann, Cmedic was kidnapped and murdered by the RED's, a claim that would lead to the slow degradation of Team Fortress Classic and the mental breakdown of Cheavy for the next 20 years.
Cmedic would be declared dead until 1972, when he would miraculously reappear in a maximum security prison on China's southern coast. From here, he would join Medic, Heavy, and Cheavy on their journey chronicled in Take Back The Fortress, where his involvement in the story would prove extremely important due to his status as The Marker, a mortal whose Blight-immune blood is coveted by the Disciples. While his blood makes him a target, his immunity does grant him a strange power: he can read the language of the Disciples. This enables him to read the corrupted data from the laptop, a mysterious item once owned by the nameless author of Sol in Umbra.
Cmedic would go on to become highly proficient with the Thunder Resonance Ark, granting him mastery of electrokinesis. In addition, Cmedic was revealed to have a prosthetic leg that he built himself. According to Cmedic, he lost his left leg after a mechanical accident in prison.

Okay I have no idea if your still taking prompts - but plot twist: WRH IS 400! YEARS OLD! He just forgot. Maybe remembers, maybe Baoshan Sanren smacks him and goes: YO - Mao-Ge what’s up!
“My master told me about you,” the little girl said, and at first Wen Ruohan had no idea why she was talking to him or who the hell she thought she was to do so, but then he noticed the distinctive patterns on her clothing, black and white. They were familiar, even after as many years as it had been.
“Ah,” he said. “I see that another of Baoshan Sanren’s doomed disciples has come down the mountain.”
The (undoubtedly nameless) girl flushed red.
“How’s your master doing these days?” Wen Ruohan asked, lips twitching in faint amusement. “Hopefully not still using the heating systems from four hundred years ago – we’ve had a few developments since then, you know, and that mountaintop must get terribly cold…”
“Did you really curse her to stay there?” the girl blurted out.
Wen Ruohan arched his eyebrows. This one was daring; her predecessor, who had been called Yanling Daoren, had also wanted to know, but he hadn’t been bold enough to ask directly.
“That depends on your definition of cursing,” he said mildly. “As well as ‘stay’ and ‘there.”
Also possible the word ‘really’, but who was counting?
The girl rolled her eyes.
“Do you have any grand ambitions for the world before you die?” he asked, curious, and was even more so when then girl shook her head in denial. “Really? Then why come down the mountain at all?”
“To live,” she said.
Wen Ruohan nodded: he understood that motive quite well. He and Baoshan Sanren had always disagreed on the best way to live out immortality – he in the world, participating in it, connecting with others even if it meant he would eventually lose them, while she had preferred her aloof mountain remove, in which no one ever died but merely ‘left’ of their own free will…
“Best of luck to you, then,” he said with a shrug. “May you live a better life than my shijie wanted for you.”
“And you, too,” Cangse Sanren – that was what they called this one, wasn’t it? – said with a smile. When he arched his eyebrows in silent question, she explained: “You should be getting around to dying sometime soon, shouldn’t you? Your form of it?”
“Mm, yes. I hope, anyway. Surely someone will get around to declaring war on me eventually.”
The cultivation world was far too prone to allowing itself to be ruled by a single person. Last time around he’d been one of the ones involved in the rebellion, fighting against evil; this time, he’d decided to take the lazier path of being the evil himself and waiting for someone to develop the backbone to take him down. Sadly, he’d been waiting a while, but surely it wouldn’t take too much longer. Another generation or two at the most, no doubt.
He couldn’t wait.
“Eventually,” she agreed. “Do you have any notion of what you want to do after that? Will you still go by the surname ‘Wen’ as you’ve done so far?”
Given that he’d deliberately set up his sect to be completely destroyed, filling it up in the meantime with every thief and liar and lecher he could find? Probably not. The whole ‘stick to your clan’ idea had been a good one when he’d innovated it four hundred years ago, but it was clearly not working out in the long run.
Still better than the school he and Baoshan Sanren had once both been part of, though, with its teachings spread out to anyone who could make it in without discrimination. Imagine the awfulness of the rising generation achieving immortality – Jiang Fengmian? Jin Guangshan? Forever?!
Ugh. Definitely not.
“I’ll figure something out,” Wen Ruohan said, then grinned, with teeth. “Maybe I’ll swap places with some small sect leader during a raid that conveniently wipes out the rest of his sect and spend my next lifetime as an obscure and invisible part of a crowd, commenting on everything without interfering or taking responsibility. What do you think of that?”
“I think,” she said thoughtfully, “that you should go with Sect Leader Yao for that. No one would ever suspect him.”

After Action Report #1 for Baldur’s Gate: City of Blood, a fusion campaign of Descent into Avernus and Curse of Strahd. It went very well and I have high hopes for next week’s game.
Welcome to Baldur's Gate. Our destined crew, drawn by their own goals, or other focused hands, find themselves coming together on the outskirts of the City of Blood. 4 came together by the way of the Chionthar, the mighty river that provides the lifeblood for many cities in the Heartlands of Faerun. An acrobatic but perhaps overly ambitious elf named Aquila, a daring druid disciple of the stars named Tyche, a wily gunslinger with a debonair façade called Nero and their desperate for approval assistant, Huxley the Owlin, and one half drowned noble named Catherine from Waterdeep, rising to breath fresh air after being in yet deeper water.
Elsewhere, the gnome Sergeant Andreth Mykonia kept watch on the outskirts of the city, A joyful dancer named Penelope endeavors to keep their heart light in a grim metropolis, and Hulst, a young crimson knight of the god of mercy finds themselves being drawn forces beyond their control, be it kind strangers, desperate warriors or the desperate in need.
(In other words, the Dungeon Master had several vignettes for everyone to flex their newly made characters into being, and illustrate how they all arrived in Baldur’s Gate. It was very fun, and thanks to Nero’s player, I made a new character on the spot who might become my favorite example of “yes, and ?” Storytelling I’ve done in a long time. I imagine we will all grow to love Huxley the Owlin)
They arrive from various points to the great bridge of Wyrm's Crossing, the main thoroughfare to Baldur’s Gate from the land, and find themselves to be!the right people in the wrong place when a prisoner kept bound in an encapsulated metal box, a person known only to a few among you as Viekang, a dangerous murderer empowered by Bhaal himself, Lord of Murder, on his way to the city. Their skills pooled together when fellow disciples of the murderous god attempted to orchestrate Viekang's liberation. With only a few injuries among the assembled individuals, they managed to foil the attempted liberation of Viekang.
In the aftermath, the newly assembled group is brought back to Wyrm's Rock Fortress, which found itself under assault in what appears to have been a coordinated effort, the Bhaalites defeated but at cost of a 1/3 of the garrison from the surprise attack. Set to be questioned, the crew waits only to hear a tumble of metal and the cracking of a shell as a red wyrmling broke free of a long stasis from a mysterious box that had been found earlier in the adventure, its young bright eyes meeting the party for the first time. We'll have to wait until next time to see what happens next.
NPC's introduced this session: Ireena and Ismark, a pair of apparent siblings who find themselves the sole surviving wardens of the murderer Viekang, and despite doing well for themselves in the fight, likely would have been killed if not the presence of this group of 7 strangers...
Huxley the Owlin: A former accountant turned devoted manservant of Nero, Huxley is devoted to their master and wants to impress them and learn to thrive in this new life they find themselves in. It's a work in progress.
Greer the Iron Merchant: A trader coming into Baldur's Gate with his family for the yearly caravan.
Chieftain Tugush: An old orc chief who remembers the value of mercy, who hopes the best for the young paladin he encountered.
Corporal Smiley: A friend of Sergeant Mykonia, his fate unknown.
Private Green: A now shellshocked private for the Flaming Fist, his first day on assignment having devolved into a nightmare.
Galvan: The leader of a group of deep gnome refugees hoping to start a new life in Baldur's Gate
Viekang: A mysterious prisoner wanted by one of the Grand Duke's of Baldur's Gate, Dead or Alive. Denied rescue by cultists of Bhaal.
An infant red dragon wyrmling: Newborn and nameless, a child of the most feared breed of dragon in the realms. Who knows who they'll grow to be?
(And with that, our first session came to an end, everyone excited for yet more to come)

have some bamf sakura fics because god knows canon doesn't do her justice and this girl needs some more love
🌸 Retrograde Motion by Crunchysunrises [T, Gen, 105K, WIP]
From sixteen to eleven didn't feel like a big jump until she realized that she was now the best ninja in their class. And that tiny Sasuke hates her for it.
🌸 Freedom in the Eyes of Another by Oroburos69 [M, Gen, 26K, Complete]
The Wave Mission is a failure. Team Seven is captured. Sasuke is gone. Kakashi is next.
Sakura has no choice but to be a hero.
🌸 survival of the fittest by cywscross [T, Gen, 24K, Complete]
Sakura is thirteen, still a Genin, lost in the middle of Earth Country, lugging an unconscious Chuunin around, and so far beyond scared that she’s moved right on to pissed off.
🌸 Dirt and Ashes, or: The One-and-a-Half Body Problem by Tozette [M, Gen, 90K, Complete]
The invasion of Konoha during the chuunin exam didn't fail. Team seven is broken, people are dead, and Sakura is hurt and frightened and a very long way from home.
Alternative summary: In which Sakura carries half of Hidan across two countries, leaving a trail of blood, bodies, and other people's legs.
🌸 The Soul Mate Phenomenon (is ruining by life) by Tozette [M, Gen, 38K, WIP]
Sakura learns why so many ninja hope never to have a soul mate.
🌸 Black Hole Heart by LadyNyxRavus [M, Gen, 23K, WIP]
By all accounts, Sakura is dead for the first five minutes of her life.
Yet, she continues. If she occasionally has too many, too sharp teeth then that's their business.
🌸 Waves by IncompleteSentanc [M, Gen(ish), 68K, Complete]
Sakura dies on October 10th with green eyes that slowly lose their shine and bright pink hair that turns dark with blood. Then Sakura is born on January 12th with dark blue eyes that get lighter and lighter and red hair so dark it looks black more often than not.
She doesn't know it immediately, but she's a child reborn and time is reborn with her. It's time for a change, and Sakura will do all she can to bring it - for one reason or another. She's a woman reborn, and she's already died once before. What more does she have to fear?
🌸 Shiryō by IncompleteSentanc [Not Rated, Gen, 8K, Complete]
Shiryō - a vengeful, dead spirit, left to haunt the land they died upon.
Sakura wasn’t sure what Naruto was thinking when he used that jutsu of his, but she was trapped dealing with the consequences.
🌸 Once Again by IncompleteSentanc [M, Gen, 37K, WIP]
After their long, arduous fight with Kaguya, Sakura's collapses under Sasuke's genjutsu.
There, she meets a man and makes a decision that shakes reality itself to its core.
(A Time-Travel fix-it, of sorts)
🌸 A How To Guide To Shinobi Life by IncompleteSentanc [M, Sakura/Shikamaru(ish?), 81K, Series, Complete]
Minato knows at the beginning of the week that it's going to be a hellish one. Mostly because it starts with the kidnapping of one of his two remaining students, only a year after they'd lost the first one. He just doesn't realize at the time that it's not going to be a hellish week - it's going to be hell for quite a bit longer than that.
It all starts with Rin's kidnapping, and her subsequent rescue at the hands of a mysteriously appearing, monstrously strong, murderously violent woman.
A woman with cotton candy pink hair.
It only devolves from there.
🌸 the ballad of the slug sage by theformerone [T, Sakura/Neji, Series, 219K, WIP]
The legend of Sakura, disciple of Tsunade, the Slug Princess, and how she became the first Slug Sage in three generations.
🌸 the chosen fruit by theformerone [E, Sakura/Shikamaru, 51K, Complete]
Sakura is a rōnin, but she's good enough with a blade to find work. She's trusted at Fukiage because she's a nameless woman who can't afford to bite any hand that feeds her.
Shikamaru's awful attitude makes him a favorite in the teahouse. He makes his money on his back but his real trade is information. There is rot in Fire Country. Shikamaru sees it, and he is going to burn it at the roots.
🌸 before you by theformerone [M, Sakura/Uzumaki Mito, 149K, Complete]
When she is somersaulted back in time to Uzushio before it was Uzushio, with Kurama's yin chakra folded into the seal on her forehead, heart bursting with loss and the weight of her burden, she tells them her name is Tsubaki.
Uzumaki Mito looks at her like she is an enemy.
🌸 the pretty one by theformerone [G, Gen, 4K, Complete]
Kakashi is maybe ten seconds too late to redirect the assassination techniques.
Sakura leaps in between them because those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum.
🌸 It's Just That Any One of Us Is Half Without Another One Is You by Branch [M, Sakura/Naruto/Sasuke, 129K, Complete]
An AU in which all the character development of part one gets its due: Kakashi finds another way, Sasuke does not leave the Leaf, Itachi remains a villain, no one is a carbon copy of a previous generation, Sakura grows up to be terrifying, Sasuke finds his way back to family, and Naruto wins all hearts. Featuring Team Seven fluff, filling in the time-skip, and a rather different second half. Drama, Angst, Romance, Fluff, Action, Occasional Porn.
🌸 🌷 Are You Ready by Killaurey [G, Gen, 45K, WIP]
AU. Sakura gives up on Kakashi as a teacher after Team 7 falls apart. Too bad fate, enemy ninja, and sheer bad luck have other plans.
[extra kudos to this one for amazing Ino rep as well]
🌸 cut the head off the snake by itsthechocopuff [T, Gen, 127K, WIP]
when eighteen-year-old, post-war Sakura is thrown back into her tiny, pre-Academy body, she makes a decision. she'd had a childhood once already, and this time, she's more interested in Not Dying when the inevitable shit hits the proverbial fan. so she will work harder, care less, kill more, and smile when she's done.
and hey, if she ends up reviving an extinct nature transformation to attract the most corrupt, power-hungry man from her timeline, all the better for her, right?
🌸 Dark Waters by Pleasedial123 [M, Series, Optional Zabuza/Sakura, 109K, WIP]
Gato doesn't trust Zabuza to get the job done. Instead he sends a team of thugs to ambush the Bridge Builder on his return to Wave. Team Seven, exhausted from their fight and Kakashi still unconscious, is separated. Sakura gets captured.
Terrible things happen to pretty girls in the hands of men like Gato and his thugs.
But Zabuza puts his claim in first and suddenly Sakura isn't the prisoner of a civilian businessman and his hired muscle. Suddenly she's Momichi Zabuza's.
-
Feel free to add more fics if you know any. Doesn't matter if they're romance or not, m/f or f/f, so long as Sakura is out there being a badass its all fine

Last Line Tag Game
I was tagged by @red-the-dragon-writes :3
Rules: share a recent line/paragraph/small section of writing and tag some people!
Four mounted warriors arrived at the docks on the headland demanding passage across the Sea of Souls.  That was not the least bit unusual; people came and went between the mainland and the islands all the time, and all the fishermen and merchant seamen were used to ferrying passengers back and forth.  What was unusual about these four travelers from Caer Corynnod were their mounts.  The new arrivals seeking passage across the sea were four black-clad war matrons, each sitting astride the cephalothorax of a massive, chitinous black spider the size of a horse.  The boatmen guessed, based on these strange mounts, that the women must have come from the Queen herself, and their leader seemed to be the tall, red-haired woman who wore a heavy iron collar around her neck.
She rode up to a pier where three stout knarrs were moored in the frigid black water, her spider’s legs clicking on the beachrock, and cried out, “Hello, there!  Are these ships headed for Ynys Farwolaeth?”
“They are,” one of the sailors called back.  “You seek passage?”
“We do.”
“And who might you be?”
“Freydis Thorkilsdottir, war matron and chief consort of the Nameless Queen.  These three are my retainers, and these four are my daughters.”
“Your . . . daughters?”
“Is that really so odd?”
The sailor shrugged.  “’Spose not.  We’ll be casting off in an hour or so, and there’s room for all of you.  Are you a witch?”
“I am.”
“Splendid.  Always good to have a witch aboard.  Always good.”
Local woman plans a somewhat unorthodox family reunion.  (Bit from The Disciple, in-progress sequel to the infamous spider story)
Open tag b/c it’s butthole o’clock in the morning and I don’t remember who anyone is

————
Lan Qiren kept his focus on the Jiang disciples, glad to see Xichen was among them—though he was young, this was a good learning experience for cleaning up after a night hunt. Far too many sects were negligent in that, and it caused too many problems. Fortunately, the disciples were attentive and eager to learn. Even the newest disciples, previously street children still catching up on their education, were participating and engaged.
It helped that the yao corpse was impressive, displaying the danger of night hunts in a way that fascinated the youth. They formed a sort of line, with the older disciples hacking into it, and the younger ones finding human remains to remove. Every so often, a disciple used a bucket to clear the blood from an area, inevitably leading to the discovery of more.
He lost track of time, busy explaining how to organize the remains so the bodies could be laid to rest, helping move parts of the yao corpse to an area to be purified and burned. Nearly a dozen so far, maybe more. Some of the victims were reduced to skeletal remains, while others were far fresher. Many of them, he was sad to see, were children.
He could only imagine, if the creature had reached Lotus Cove, how much damage could have been done.
Madam Yu’s voice surprised him, as distracted as he was with the task. She had bathed, he noted, not without a bit of envy—but she had helped vanquish the beast, and so it was deserved. She still looked exhausted, but much less bloody than before.
He bowed and greeted her as she surveyed the site.
“You have things well in hand,” she said. “We appreciate the knowledge you are imparting to our disciples.”
“They are competent and eager to learn,” he replied, returning what he knew was a compliment.
An easy silence fell between them, and the disciples continued with the task, nearly through with the search for victims. There wasn't much of the yao left to search, and then it could be prepared to be purified and burned.
“We will purify and burn the yao overnight. When the retrieval is finished, we must speak in the healing pavilion,” Madam Yu said finally. “Feel free to clean up if needed before you come.”
Her tone betrayed anxiety, and Lan Qiren looked at her sharply. She shook her head.
“Privately.”
He nodded, uncertain what this could mean, but certain it was serious from her demeanor.
“How would you like the remains handled?” he asked.
It was, after all, not his sect or his land, so the decisions should not be up to him.
Madam Yu considered this for a moment.
“If your musicians can find out who the victims are through Inquiry, we can notify their families. We will store the remains in separate qiankun pouches until then.”
She offered him a smile that looked weary.
“Without your presence, we would simply dig graves and burn joss. It is better this way.”
Lan Qiren agreed—it would ease the families to know what had become of their loved ones, to have remains to lay to rest and a grave to visit and care for. And it would appease the spirits of the victims to have more than a nameless grave, to be laid to rest with their ancestors.
“I will send one of the less faint-hearted servants with the qiankun bags for the remains,” she said. “Bring your eldest nephew with you. Lan Wangji knows what we must discuss, so his brother may as well, too.”
Her tone seemed to imply that if not for Wangji’s knowledge, Lan Qiren himself may have been excluded, and if that was the case it was likely quite serious. He realized abruptly that he had not seen Wangji among the disciples handling the yao and its victims. For that matter, he had not seen Wei Wuxian, either, and he could only assume he was involved in whatever needed to be discussed.
But he knew better than to ask for more information now; likely they would put a silencing barrier up before discussing this, if it was so serious.
Instead he simply nodded in acknowledgement and returned to supervising the disciples.
Madam Yu called for her son and spoke to him briefly before leaving. The boy looked concerned, but went back to his task instead of abandoning it.
When all the remains had been recovered and the pieces of the yao piled for purification and burning, he had the younger disciples go for wood to build a pyre, and helped the older ones sort the human remains until they had separated them by victim—or at least as close as was possible. There were assorted human bone fragments that seemed to belong nowhere, but would hopefully be identified during Inquiry.
A servant, as promised, brought qiankun bags, more than needed. He had the disciples place remains in a bag apiece, discussing the need to respect the dead, then the fragments in their own bag.
By then, the younger disciples had returned with wood and they started on the work of building a pyre. Lan Qiren gathered the qiankun bags and placed them inside another one for ease of transport and hung it from his belt, then turned his attention to helping with construction.
When it was finished, he kept them from lighting it just yet, explaining purification would need to occur first, and then the fire would need to be monitored until the yao was consumed to ashes. He would leave that to Sect Leader Jiang and Madam Yu.
“It is likely past dinner now, and it looks like most of you should get baths before eating—no eating while covered in yao blood.”
He was surprised when the disciples laughed, then bowed to him.
While it wasn’t a chorus, he was politely thanked for his guidance as he walked them back to Lotus Cove.
“Xichen,” he said when he spotted his nephew, whose robes were as stained with blood as the Jiang disciples’. “We will clean up, and then our presence has been requested in the infirmary.”
Two steaming hot bathtubs, affixed with heating talismans, were waiting for them in their guest quarters, and he was certain that the servants were preparing similar baths for the disciples. Lan Qiren found himself impressed by the efficiency of the Jiang sect.
By the time he and Xichen were clean and dressed in fresh robes and on their way to the infirmary, dusk was falling, evidence of how long it had taken to handle the yao—it was clear that they would be taking their evening meal late, but so would the entire sect.
Jiang Fengmian was waiting in the infirmary, and thanked him for taking over the disposal of the yao and retrieval of remains. Lan Qiren handed him the qiankun bag, and let him know the yao’s corpse was awaiting purification and burning, the pyre already built.
“The incense is being prepared,” Sect Leader Jiang told him.
Lan Qiren wondered about the preparation, what ingredients would be combined. Sandalwood, for purification and cleansing, was likely, perhaps mixed with plumeria to enhance. Rosemary, to clear negative energy, as well as cedar. Benzoin to clear negative spirits… There were many options, and though he knew what mixture the Lan sect might use, each sect had their own practices.
Ultimately, these thoughts were a distraction from the matter at hand, a nervous habit. He could ask later if he was still interested.
Fengmian led them to the next room, where he immediately noted Wei Wuxian was still and asleep on the bed, his face pale. Wangji sat beside him, holding his hand, his expression tight with worry. Jiang Yanli was stroking his hair. Jiang Cheng, whose hair was still wet from what was likely a quick bath, watched over him like a guard. Yu Ziyuan was at the table, waiting.
When Fengmian shut the door, he activated a silencing talisman before joining his wife. Lan Qiren took a seat as well. The children stay attentive, though gathered near Wei Wuxian, permitted in this conversation, tense with foreboding. Xichen joined them.
“A-Ying saw the attack in his mind, he said,” Yu Ziyuan said, never one to dally. “He saw disciples die and the river run red with their blood. Fengmian and I investigated, and discovered the yao upstream.”
Lan Qiren drew a sharp breath. That explained the suddenness of the expedition. And disciples dying… Xichen had been among those planning to swim in the river.
He tried not to think about that.
“He fought to stay conscious long enough to tell us,” Jiang Fengmian added. “I… didn’t believe him. Ziyuan did.”
“He begged,” she said simply. “If we ignored it, he would hesitate to trust us if it happens again.”
Lan Qiren nodded. Children who felt adults would not believe them learned not to communicate their concerns. And with what had happened to Wei Wuxian, he needed to be willing to say what was wrong.
“The resentful energy in his mind,” Lan Qiren said. “There’s no telling what influence it is having. Perhaps he sensed the yao and its desires?”
Yu Ziyuan shook her head.
“No. He knew his san-shixiong would die. He saw it while talking to him. A premonition.”
That was a bit more specific, he had to admit. With the disaster averted, there was no way to confirm, but it seemed likely. It was possible upon waking, the boy could share more details of what he ‘saw,’ details that would confirm beyond a doubt. For now, this was speculation, but there was little known about how resentful energy could impact the mind, beyond the historical examples involving madness and death.
He hoped they could prevent that in Wei Wuxian, could keep the resentful energy from sending him down that sort of dark path.
But he wondered if perhaps the resentful energy could have a different sort of impact on the jingluo, and with it gathered in his mind, the yingtang. With his amnesia, it made some sense; the resentful energy could be impacting his shen. That was a concern for another time, though.
“The resentful energy may have opened the third eye,” Lan Qiren mused, stroking his beard.
A clairvoyant child would be seen as a valuable tool by some of the sects. Particularly the Wen. If this was truly the impact of the resentful energy, and the boy is having premonitions, he would be seen as a treasure to seize.
He resisted the urge to turn and look at Wei Wuxian, as though seeing him would abate the danger.
Some of his thought process must have shown in his expression. Yu Ziyuan nodded.
“Then you see the issue,” she said.
“This must be kept secret,” Fengmian said. “And we must find a way to protect him.”
They mused silently on this for a while, but were interrupted by Wangji.
“Shufu, if it’s the third eye, then that nightmare he had… could that also be a premonition?”
His voice was halting, as though he hated to speak the idea aloud.
Lan Qiren understood—the idea that Wei Wuxian had seen his future somehow, a future in which he was thrown into Luanzang Gang, was beyond horrifying. Of all ways to die, that perhaps ranked among the cruelest. That the boy could be destined to that… But just as the yao disaster had been prevented, perhaps that too could be.
Madam Yu’s jaw clenched and zidian sparked on her hand.
“If he is seen merely as the son of a servant, he is vulnerable.”
“My lady?”
Fengmian looked at his wife with concern, questions in his eyes. He seemed at a loss for what to do in this situation, and Lan Qiren knew if his wife could offer solutions it would only strengthen their relationship. The sect leader’s mind was clouded by his anxiety over Wei Wuxian’s health and fate.
She smiled at her husband, a soft expression incongruent with what he knew of her, one that took the harsh edges from her face and transformed her.
“He must become Jiang,” she said. “A-Lian, too. He cannot be the heir, but they must be ours.”
Sect Leader Jiang seemed struck dumb, but there was a joy in it. He looked like he felt he might be dreaming.
“Yes, my lady. Ours.”
“Really, a-niang?” Jiang Yanli asked, her voice hopeful. “He can be our didi, really?”
“He’ll need to be,” she said. “Otherwise we can’t protect him. Servants can be taken, can be abused. Adopting him officially, giving him the Jiang name, will mean he is no longer the son of a servant.”
The Jiang children looked alarmed at the idea that Wei Wuxian could be taken. Lan Qiren hoped they didn’t realize that worse could happen, that their mother’s decision had been made based on the idea that the boy had dreamt true, that the dream was precognitive, that he could be targeted and killed in such a manner.
“They may still see him as the mere son of a servant,” Lan Qiren warned. “But it will keep him safer.”
He prayed, for Wei Wuxian’s sake, that it would.
“If they dare say it, they’ll feel zidian’s wrath,” Yu Ziyuan scoffed.
“And I’ll break their legs!” Jiang Cheng added. “No one gets to be mean to my didi.”
Fengmian smiled at his son.
“You’re a good gege,” he told the boy, who puffed up proudly. “And A-Lian will be your meimei, too.”
Lan Qiren realized for the first time that little A-Lian wasn’t in the room, and neither were Madam Yu’s maids. The child was too young to know to keep secrets; keeping her unaware would keep her safer.
He watched the excitement of the Jiang children over the decision. He knew he was only a part of this conversation because Wangji knew Wei Wuxian—or Jiang Wuxian, he’d have to get used to calling him—had ‘seen’ the yao.
His nephews were silent, Wangji still holding Jiang Wuxian’s hand. They, like Lan Qiren, didn’t know what their role was here.
“I know you would have preferred no other clans knew,” he said finally. “We will of course tell no one.”
Madam Yu nodded, less acknowledgement than veiled threat, which Lan Qiren thought completely unnecessary, though he could understand where it came from.
“More than that… If this is being caused by the resentful energy, he will need to be trained to manage it,” she said after a moment.
She was aware of the concerns with shen, then. With how it could potentially warp his consciousness, and the need to mitigate that risk.
“Songs of cleansing would help,” Lan Qiren agreed. “They have an impact on the player as well. It would be easiest to train him in musical cultivation in the Cloud Recesses. The lack of resentful energy there would also possibly help him.”
Fengmian looked thoughtful, though hesitant, as though he was reluctant to have Jiang Wuxian so far away. Understandable, given that the boy had nearly died and was still recovering.
“By now the news of his illness has spread, as you may have noticed in Yunping. Likely, other cultivation clans have heard by now. It would not be unusual to send such a case to you for healing, particularly as you’ve stayed so long already.”
Lan Qiren frowned. He didn’t think they could stay much longer, given that he was acting sect leader. If Jiang Wuxian needed much further treatment following this incident, it would be best for him to come to Gusu. Truly, it would be best for him to receive treatment consistently until the resentful energy was completely removed to prevent damage to his spirit.
“If he were to have need of respite from resentful energy…”
He wasn’t fully comfortable with the lie, though, and he was troubled by the way such an example might impact his nephews. Lying was forbidden, but if one lied to protect, was it immoral?
“Unless we set it up as a cultural exchange, of sorts,” Fengmian added, seeming to notice his discomfort. “But—”
“A betrothal,” Yu Ziyuan interrupted. “To strengthen ties between sects. Part of the year here, part of it there.”
Lan Qiren was completely unprepared for such a suggestion and failed to keep himself from gaping. He was slightly assuaged by the fact that Sect Leader Jiang was in a similar state.
She held up a hand, cutting off anticipated objections.
“It could be dissolved when they’re older, of course. But what better way to explain A-Ying’s occasional presence in Cloud Recesses? The terms could include that they will reside in both places and serve both clans equally upon marriage, which would explain any need to be at Lotus Cove as well.”
“Who would he be betrothed to?” Jiang Fengmian asked, looking baffled.
Lan Qiren could relate—it seemed cruel to bring in someone ignorant of the situation for a farce, particularly a young lady, regardless of how a betrothal would enable them to hide the truth of the matter from the other sects.
“Your younger nephew, of course,” Madam Yu said.
She said it as though it was the most obvious conclusion in the world.
------------
Jingluo is the meridian system through the body through which qi would be circulated, with the golden core being the engine of sorts, I suppose. Yintang is the third eye, not connected to the jingluo, instead serving as an “extraordinary point,” or the 6th Chakra in other cultures. It’s considered a “portal” of sorts to the upper dantian and the home of shen. Shen is somewhat complicated and has to do with emotion, memory, spirit, and mind, though spirit is also made up of other elements. It’s one of the three treasures, the other two being jing and qi.
My therapist has been incorporating various Eastern methods of managing anxiety into my therapy and mental health toolbox, including using tapping or light massage on certain meridians and extraordinary points, particularly ones on the face and upper body. Interestingly, it seems disorders of shen include anxiety, which was interesting to discover in my research.
Madam Yu’s doubling down on her “mine” reaction to A-Ying, as you can see. We’ll see how much of a qi deviation this gives Lan Qiren.

He had been lost by Chaldea the moment they entered this cursed land. The more he had recognized, the more he splintered, shattered.
By the time they reached that hill, he was lost. He wailed, screamed, dug until his fingers were raw and bloody. Dug for bone that didn’t exist. Dug, until he was pulled away, throat raw.
In the night, then, he had left without a word.
He was covered in that dirt still. His veil was melted through, in rain splattered holes were the acidic rain had melted away, eaten at it. And in his hand, was a sword.
A sword which never truly existed. A sword that was the personification of a legend, of an inevitability, of the hope to change it. The fate of a child to be killed by his father.
Unknowingly to Connla, of course, that fate could still be fulfilled. He was marching towards it, after all.
The mud was caked over him, mixed with the blood of all he fought. If they left his path, that was fine. They could run. They could live. But... he couldn’t stop himself from fighting those who stayed in the way. The sword’s thorns curled protectively around him, helping him stay upright. They interwove with his armor, not a single thorn piercing him, bloody red oath protecting him as long as he didn’t walk back. A crude imitation of another weapon.
But finally, he had reached his destination. Tired, numb and furious and heartbroken and guilty and- and everything. Everything and nothing. The man on the ford was the one he was looking for.
Tumblr media
“You.” It came out more as a croak then a shout. “I... ya need to know who I am. I need... I need ya to know who I am.” He had to. Connla refused to die nameless again. So, shaking, he held his sword high.
“I am the disciple of the Witch of Dún Scáith. I am the one who was born upon the Isle of Skye, born to battle. I am the last child of Ulster! I am the one who was killed yet still walks! I whose story was told to tell my death am here before you, do you understand?!”
Tumblr media
“I am the only son of Cu Chulainn! You who killed my father! My name is Connla, and I am here for your head!”

yanling daoren, a good one
he’s the first disciple of baoshan sanren who descended the mountain and he was the first one to walk a plank basically
so far i think we don’t know a lot about him but we do know he was strong and people admired him for it. he was capable. 10/10
and then he mysteriously turned into a villain and killed a lot of people. as far as i know we don’t get anything else about him so imma make some headcanons
——————————————————————————
• the first day yanling mentioned wanting to leave the mountain baoshan sanren almost got a heart attack
• she has warned him time and time again about the dangers of the world out there. but the boy was too stubborn
• so one day he bids her goodbye and descends the mountain, almost teary eyes but excited for what the world holds for him
baby i’m so so sorry this ugly ass bitch mistreated you this way
• so yanling likes peaches. a lot. he can eat like seven in one sitting. he’s a peach boy
• he has a scar on his knee from when he fell off his sword for the first time
• oh, and he’s asexual!
• he spends his time watching the stars because he’s fascinated about how the world managed to create such beautiful constellations
• he travels from city to city, catching the attention of strangers’ whose faces all blur together at some point
• he’s handsome, he knows it, and he owns it
• he probably has a killer eyeliner, ooof
• he wears gray robes with streaks of purple. he has seen it himself, he’s proud of his work, okay? okay!
• he likes nature. every time he goes out hunting he’ll encounter wild berries and forgets about everything as he takes out his small sachet and starts collecting them
• he likes little kids. every time he walks into the new city children are everywhere. mimicking sect leaders and waving wooden swords around, it puts a smile on his face
• from time to time he remembers his teacher and misses her, nevertheless, he’s sure she’d be proud of him
• and then one night the tradegy strikes
• he’s out, patrolling the city on his own terms when he sees a little girl running down the street
• it’s very late for small children to be out at this hour so he dashes towards her
• before he can get to her he sees someone dressed in red robes grab the child by the neck and throw her against the wall
• yanling daoren freezes where he stands when he hears that sickening chuckle
• he shouts loudly and dashes towards the figure, unsheathing his sword
• he’s too late, the person opens up the portal and disappears into it
• the little girl wheezes weakly and yanling directs all his attention towards her. her neck looks like it’s bent at an uncomfortable angle
• “little girl what are you doing here?”
• “mommy said-said daddy was the brightest-est star on the sky... i wanted to-to see him”
• her hand goes weak in his and yanling just sits there, feeling numb and destroyed. every nerve ending in his body numbs for a second and the next he’s sobbing
• sobbing to himself, stroking the girl’s hair out of her lifeless eyes and holding her tiny, limp, hand in his
• and then it all happens. yanling daoren disappears from the cities, people stop seeing the nameless cultivator dressed in grey robes anymore
• instead people start dying. being killed by the one whose name they do not know
• what people don’t know is yanling daoren only kills those who have whispered of their malicious intents
• drunk in the inns, passing in the woods, following the river, everywhere people spoke of the evil things they would do yanling would be there to hear it
• and yanling would be there to deliver the punishment, a very bloody and merciless punishment, fitting the dead’s plans of evil

Fanfic: The Gusu Lan Rift Healing Show!
Part 1
Summary: What if Jiang Cheng had to appear in a reality TV like show where he had to talk through his feelings? What if Jingyi and Sizhui hosted the show? And thus a Crackfic was born.
Music started up, the two flautists played a jaunty ditty accompanied by cheerful clashes of cymbals, and the strumming of a single guqin. The colourful troupe of musicians sat just in front of the elevated stage. The crowd is bubbling with excitement. Blue silk brocaded curtains hung across the large stage, obscuring it from the audience.
“Wow, it is packed in here!” Exclaimed a young cultivator from a sect too small to be well-known, he happened to be seated right near front. This was his first time at an open air theatre for a show like this.
“Of course,” said the older man next to him, working his way quickly through a paper bag of sunflower seeds, methodologically cracking, sucking, chewing, spitting. “The show today, is not to be missed!”
“Not to be missed?”
The man next to him was shocked, “Don’t you know?! Today’s guests come from the four biggest cultivation sects. I hear one of the clan leaders will be here as well.”
The young cultivator’s eyes brightened up, he’d never gotten close up to the big clan leaders before. He was still new to Caiyi town, and when he’d asked what were the most interesting things to do in town, the innkeeper had suggested his try his luck in the lottery to get a ticket to the hottest show in town, the Rift Healing Show. He thought it was worth a try and as luck would have it, he won a ticket. To hear that he was going to get to see a clan leader from the big four, the gods were smiling on him indeed.
“Who is it?” he asked excitedly, would it be the leader of Jin Clan, or from the Nie Sect? Of course it might be Gusu Lan Sect leader, but he couldn’t quite imagine him coming to this show, based on his reputation.
Suddenly a loud gong sounded and the audience quietened down. Two young men wearing plain white clothing came up and slowly drew the heavy curtains apart to reveal the stage.
The stage was split in two by large black lacquered partition decorated with cloud patterns. On the left side of the partition were three lacquered seats, next to each seat was a table with a small white cup and matching jug. The right side of the partition was empty of people and furniture with a red silk curtained doorway at the back.
A gong sounded again, the crowd cheered as the two hosts walked onto the stage.
It was Jingyi and Sizhui, the handsome young disciples from the Gusu Lan sect.
JY: Hello everybody, I am Jingyi.
SZ: My name is Sizhui
JY: And we are the hosts of this ‘Rift Healing Show’
SZ: We are here to help the cultivation world move from solving everything with fighting and towards more peaceful means resolutions.
JY: It is purely coincidental that this type of public show has attracted more - ow!
SZ: [Smiles] Thank you Jingyi, for your thoughtful words. Today we have a very special guest from the YunMeng Jiang Sect, please give a warm welcome for Sect Leader Jiang!
The crowd applauded warmly. Sect Leader Jiang was known to be a dashingly handsome, albeit with an awful temper; this was guaranteed to be a good show. The snack sellers were having to rush about with their trays of ‘bingtanghulu’, skewers of hawthorn dipped in syrup to meet the audience demand.
There was a loud hurrumph and a tall man dressed in rich purple silk strode across the stage to sit on the chair furthest away from the two hosts.
The young nameless cultivator was drinking it all in, the man certainly was handsome, though the clean look was marred by the deep scowl that drew his eyebrows in like a brewing storm.
Behind him he could hear two people chattering to each other.
Person A: Aiyo, he’s got a face like dried bitter melon.
Person B: I heard he was forced to come here, rumours had it he’s recently gone a bit wild with capturing anyone who even breathed the name of the Yiling Patriarch. One of the men he whipped turned out to the young son of a very wealthy merchant. Under pressure, the sect leaders had to show they were doing something about the issue.
Person A: This is punishment?
Person B: The sect leaders combined to ask him to deal with his anger management issues or else they might be forced to publicly denounce him.
Person A: Is this much different?
Person B: Hehe, you may be right there! I heard the merchant is also in the audience.
The young cultivator immediately glanced back around him, but he did not know anyone from Caiyi, so could not tell who were the distinguished guests, as there were so many refined looking people in the crowd.
SZ: Along with Sect Leader Jiang, our second guest is the young master Jin for the Lanliing Jin Sect.
JY: The spoilt princess Jin - OW - Prince Jin is renowned for his lavish attire and arrog- ow, haught- ow. Young master Jin is renowned.
SZ: He is also the young nephew of Sect Leader Jiang.
Jingyi glared at Sizhui who continued to smile innocently at the audience.
A young teen strode come in from the left side, dressed in dazzling golden attire. A silver bell jingled as he moved. The vermillion mark in his forehead contrast with his jade like pale skin. His eyes swept across the audience, a look of disdain on his face.
JL: Why do I have to be here?
JC: Sit
His uncle’s tone brooked no disobedience and so Jinling could only pout silently as he took the middle seat. As he was feeling thirsty, he picked up the cup set on the table to his right , but upon inspection, he sniffed and put it down again. He snapped a finger and one of his servants hurried up to replace the drink with a new jade jug and delicate jade cup.
His uncle saw his action and scowled again, his nephew was too much like his father at times.
JY: Today we are going to try and understand the deeply rooted issues that has lead to the - uh - exponential increase in whippings in the area governed by YunMeng
Person A: Isn’t it obvious why?
Person B: Yes, but you can’t say it too directly you know.
This was very exciting indeed, but wait there was a third seat laid out, who was going to the third person? The young cultivator wondered.
SZ: We are also very honoured to have a third guest today.
JY: Voted the most handsome cultivator of year for 16 years running. I’m sure you can guess it!
The high tension ratcheted up a few extra notches, and suddenly wafts of wind hit the young cultivators. As he looked around, he saw many of the women around him had started fanning themselves, and a few of the men too.
JY: Please welcome one of the Two Jades of Lan. Han. Guang. Jun!
The crowd clapped rapturously, there may have been some screaming as well. The young cultivator was overwhelmed by the volume, and the pitch. He stared intently to the left of the stage, as did everyone else, but after what seemed like a very long wait, nobody appeared. The clapping died down, and murmurs arose. Just as this was about to turn into discontent, there was the sound of a guqin being strummed, coming from above, and everyone immediately craned their necks upwards. There, a figure in white floating down from the high pillars that held up the main gate of the theatre. This man drifted down slowly the sleeves of his white outfit billowing delicately, descending like a god from the heavens. He landed noiselessly right on the final seat.
There were gasps heard all around.
“What perfection.”
“I’m not prepared for this, someone please hold me”
“Screen yourselves with the fans, we cannot look him directly in the eyes”
In amongst the hubbub the young cultivator was sure he could hear some saying
“Does he have to be so fucking extra?”
It sounded like it was coming from the stage.
Person A: Why would Hanguang Jun be here?
Person B: You sure ask the right questions at the right time. But you know what they say, Hanguang Jun goes where trouble is.
Person A: Is there going to be trouble?
Person B: Heh, we shall see!

                 —  INTRODUCING 聂思源 NIE SIYUAN  —                           twenty-four.  inner disciple, nie clan.
[ HE ] who wields HEIYANG. skilled in ENHANCED STRENGTH ( 2X ). his ultimate desire? TO ENSURE THE NIE SECT REMAINS STRONG.
It was dark inside the room. Cold. The angry glares of his ancestors fell heavily upon Siyuan from where they hung, embedded in the tapestry on the wall. The nursemaid was outside, guarding the door with a dagger in hand, lest the enemy dare toe their last line of defense.
In the dark, barren throne room of the Qinghe Nie clan, only its two youngest successors remained.
Siyuan held his twin sister firmly in his arms. She trembled, her wails and sobs haunting in his ears, her tears wetting his robes. He kept her turned away from the door, an instinctual decision he was too young to consciously comprehend.
He didn’t know which of them came into the world first, and truthfully it didn’t matter. She was his sister. And in this moment, she was his only family left.
Father and mother were both gone. When word of an invasion came, big brother and his friend left, too.
Siyuan recalled the last glimpses he’d gotten of his family; clung to them desperately, as if they’d be his last. Almost obsessively, Siyuan kept his eyes glued to the door. Unmoving, unblinking, even as his eyes stung with pain.
Eventually, yuyu stopped crying.
Her breaths were slow and warm on his shoulder, a stark contrast to the ice of their surroundings. It served a reminder to Siyuan that he was still here—even as his muscles ached and his mind tired, he needed to stay vigilant. Adrenaline ran high and he’d lost track of how long they’d waited. Hours, perhaps, minutes.
Finally, the doors slammed open. Instead of the nameless monsters Siyuan had feared—momentarily crushing yuyu to his chest— a familiar figure emerged, covered in red. For a moment, Siyuan couldn’t recognize the older boy. Then, underneath the dirt and grime, Siyuan saw his brother.
Jiuli approached them wordlessly and Siyuan felt a hand on his cheek. Siyuan recognized the warmth of his brother’s palm, the nouveau scent of copper on his skin.
Siyuan’s arms went lax, his eyes fluttering shut. Finally, he crumpled into Jiuli’s arms and succumbed to a deep sleep.

Sekiro Character Analysis
Character: Doujun/Dousaku
Game: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Company: FromSoftware
Tumblr media
Timeline/Outline
Disclaimer: The timeline created below is a matter of combining both videogame lore and historical facts in relation to the Sengoku era; as well as facts in relation to the possible mental conditions. This is only a character theory timeline and is not meant to impede or force any opinions. The purpose is to help fellow writers and artists.
Doujun/Dousaku belong to Fromsoftware.
Timeline coverage: Due to the games manner of concealing time, dates, and ages— this frame will go by Comic/Manga & Game. This covers roughly a 15-20 year timeframe based on the comics description.
Name(s): Doujun (道順)
Meaning: Path, teachings(Buddhism) - obedient; docile; submissive
                Dousaku ( 道咲 )
Meaning: Path, teachings(Buddhism) - to bloom; to come out
Age: Unknown however based on events through the game and character’s within, a reasonable estimate is between 29-35 in game.
Occupation: Former Seeker Bomb Monk(sect of the warrior monks), Ex-disciple of Master Dogen, Presently hired healer/experimentalist in the Ashina dungeons.
Quest: Located in the Ashina Dungeon Entrance.
Pre-Comic/Isshin wins the war and is Lord of Ashina
Origin-  Unknown, however, based on historical facts in relation to Japanese Buddhism (specifically the Zen and Hossō Sects due to Senpou’s design inspiration). Monasteries have their own rules including how they run and ages within ranks (similar to samurai and foot soldiers). Based on average monkhood ordination, Doujun would have entered the monastery around 10 years old and would become a novice monk. He would have also partook in nanshoku with a nenja(elder monk) to learn religious teachings as well as the rank or specialty that was expected.
Theory: One can Assume Doujun’s mentor’s name was Saku. Otherwise this mentor has been remained nameless.
Based on attire, Doujun was taught and trained to be a warrior monk as the art of a Seeker/Bombthrower.
Study: Buddist Monasteries, despite religious discrepancies would have a small group of monks who practiced in “Buddhist Healing” with Kampo influences. Not only did they heal fellow monks, but were also hired by courts and locals to heal and perform medicinal research.
Assumption: Based on Doujun’s Kimono colouring, he was one of the few in that group.
During the Comic:
Important Lore Note for this section: Appearance note outside of what the timeline goes over: Unlike the other monks at Senpou Temple, Doujun’s pupils are still apparent with a steel silver hue and not “glassed over” or has a “Clouded Silver appearance.” Meaning he did not become host to the larvae despite the monks forced consumption of them(unknown if it was physically eaten, injected ect ect)
Reasoning: Due to the Monks consumption of centipede larvae.
Based on:
* In the infested text, it's clear that having "worms" is a blessing to the monks and being "chosen by the worms"  (which can be assumed is a larvae being able to parasite the host and grow). The parasitic insects attack/feed off properties that make up melanin(organism pigmentation) causing the loss of eye/skin pigmentation ....Then when they are "blessed" as the Centipede grows it obviously will need other nutrients and take advantage of the host completely.
Regarding Ape and Hainbei: Matured centipedes can skip the development stages of the Larvae like the Guardian ape, therefore feeding into the host itself.
* Not only are the monks glassy eyed but so is the Great Carp. If you visit the great carp corpse when you kill it, the larvae resides where its stomach was. Either the Carp had been fed the insects or the were in Fountainhead from the start.
Baby centipedes are described as being worm-like.
Due to the comic status is ongoing (7/15/2019) not much can be written regarding this section except Doujun’s trauma and eventual mental split.
Lore: The Senpou monks had been stealing away children for decades to use in the trials of recreating the Dragon’s heritage and in turn making a Divine Child of Rejuvenation for immortality purposes.
Theory/Thought: Doujun, trained as a seeker would be more or less out in the field “spiriting away children” being oblivious to what was going on in experimental sanctums as well as main hall. Based on his innocence later on upon Dousaku deceiving him, it can be believed that the children really were being taken to the temple grounds to perform "virtuous deeds."
Isshin’s Discovery: Upon the lords discovery of the monks encouragement in the teachings of immortality— corrupting the Buddhist beliefs to worshiping the centipedes, Isshin barricaded and refused the monastery, referring to them as degenerates.
At this point the secrets have spilled and to Doujun’s horror not only discovers the truth in regard to the children but also discovers the Temple has turned their backs on Buddha in their search for immortality and use of the Rejuvenating Waters— specifically witnessing the corruption of the centipede.
Doujun & Dousaku
Fact: In order to fully understand the trauma the character went through, you need to step into what we know. This character has a severe case of Dissociative identity disorder.
Definition: Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is a diagnosis characterized by having two or more distinct people, each with his or her own identity and personality, that alternately take control over a person. This disorder may be caused by intense trauma, such as ongoing physical abuse, sexual assault, and/or emotional/psychological abuse/event that occurred at a younger age. It’s believed to be the brains coping mechanism for the victim to escape of leave the traumatic memory/situation.
Note: The development of the personality does not happen immediately at the time of the event but can occur some time afterwards depending on the victim.
It is clear Dousaku becomes the personality that takes on the role of Doujun’s former life with the Senpou monks beliefs and as they slowly warped it into an obsession for immortality. His strategies and teachings align with the corrupted beliefs of the monks.
Doujun’s self is left as a naive but clever personality, doing whatever he can as a student to eagerly please his masters. to become an enlightened disciple of medicine.
It can be determined Dousaku left the Temple in fear of what the temple had become.
Mentions in-game that can be assumed to be prior to the game's timeframe
Lore: Doujun was a Disciple along with Emma to the great Master Dogen. Dogen’s teachings are speculated to be leaning more towards scientific healing and discovery.
During the time in which Doujun was under Master Dogen’s studies is when Dousaku’s personality fully developed and “emerged” and convinced Doujun that the other physician was mad and expressed extreme jealousy against Dogen. (this can be a reference to how medieval Physicians and Buddhist heals often would rival one another)
Since Dousaku has claimed himself as the superior personality, it can be assumed he was the one to be hired or set to task by Ashina nobles to work within the dungeon, experimenting on creatures in the hopes of discovering ways to better assist Ashina in winning the war over her lands.
Based on the reaction of betrayal Doujun expresses to Dousaku during their quest, it can be conceived that he was easily manipulated into thinking he was searching for a “treatment” with the rejuvenating waters sediments.
In-Game
This is a part in which I do not feel needs to be heavily touched on but will make small mentions.
It is made evident by the time Okami reaches Doujun, he is beyond helpless, fully consumed into Dousaku’s manipulations. Over the time of the quest it can be seen Doujun starts to come to a realization that he has not only been fooled, but is in a position in which he can not escape.
Reasoning: The consistent need to confide to Okami over his doubts & lack of enthusiasm towards Dousaku and upsetting disbelief to the first experiment he performed in the questline.
The consumption/Injection of Red Carp eyes and the effects:
Reasoning: The descriptions of the Red lump, Red-eyed Carp, Doujun's conversations of his experiments and questline as well as the description of creature/individuals who have red eyes. Also the fact the Demon of Hatred ends up with red eyes and Isshin’s explanation of Shura.
"Those with Red Eyes are dangerous and filled with rage that is difficult to control through the power of man alone. They do, however, fear the flame above all else."'
"Red Eyed Carp are considered incomplete creatures, Carp with only eyes that are red cannot become “masters”."
Theory: Red eyes are not only an after effect of those whom have consumed some form of stagnated rejuvenating water but ALSO who are consumed by a sense of failure/incompletion/defeat that turns into an endless rage causing their eyes to glow. Thanks to The experimentations of Doujun/Dousaku it's noticed that despite being experimented on, the person you send to him will not have red eyes until after you receive the bloodstained letter.
Note: Based on how much of a victims madness of their misfit circumstances has consumed them will determine the glow intensity until they are too far gone to come back from madness.
This concludes that in the despite Doujun’s fears, he felt that he not only failed himself but his master as well. This is why in the end he desperately in a frenzy attacks you, for the sake of failing his master.
Feel free to DM me if you are interested in the sources I used, any questions or feedback :)

Goblin Reviews 43F: Lorwyn
So that was a huge, goblin-filled set! And also just an all-around great set. When are we going back to Lorwyn, Wizards? WHEN’S RETURN TO LORWYN!?!?!?
Tumblr media
Stinkdrinker Daredevil isn’t for Goblins. It’s for Giants. And it’s good for giants. Is your commander a red giant? Then prepare for it to collapse into a supernova and/or a black hole. Also, you should run Stinkdrinker Daredevil. This goes double if your commander is Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas.  He was obviously a powerhouse in the limited giant deck, but Standard and Modern decks with Giants never really took off.
Tumblr media
Tar Pitcher is repeatable removal, but only 2 damage of it per turn at a significant cost. This makes it an absurdly potent draft card that can shred an opponent’s board state, but completely useless in constructed formats. I would like to talk about its flavor aspects. First, the art and flavor text lead up perfectly into our next card: Tarfire. But second, Omar Rayyan’s style here is really unique and interesting. Wizards gave him 16 cards in Lorwyn, Morningtide, and Shadowmoor, and then... that’s it. Nothing before or since. I understand that Lorwyn has its own feel to it and thus gets a different art style, but I like the different art style and would be happy to see more Omar Rayyan pieces. Check out his website. He’s great.
Tumblr media
Tarfire is a Shock variant that accidentally became a major player. See, most of the time, Tarfire is just Shock, and that’s fine, because in Standard you play Shock. The added subtype of Goblin is a potential bonus for cards like Auntie’s Hovel and Squeaking Pie Sneak, but overall it’s still just Shock. However, Tarfire shared Standard and now Modern with a card called Tarmogoyf. Tarmogoyf’s power is based on the number of card types in graveyards, and Tarfire’s “Tribal” tag happens to be another card type. This means casting a Tarfire over Lightning Bolt would permanently give all your Tarmogoyf’s +1/+1. A turn one play of cracking a fetchland for Stomping Ground and playing Tarfire would mean a turn two Tarmogoyf was a 3/4. Even if the opponent didn’t have a good target, casting Tarfire at their face for the power and toughness boost was often the right move. Tarfire also sees a small amount of Legacy Play. Legacy Goblins runs four Goblin Matron to search for specific cards, and so Tarfire becomes more useful than Lightning Bolt and many other burn spells in such a deck.
Tumblr media
Warren Pilferers is Gravedigger with one more mana for +1/+1 and also sometimes haste. In limited, you run this every time if you’re in black, even if it’s your only goblin. In constructed, it’s too slow to do anything relevant. Also, card images are apparently bigger now than they were before. Before it was Magiccardsinfo, now it’s Scryfall. I don’t mind the bigger cards in general, but it really makes it stand out on a card like this when I have very little to say about it. I could talk about the art, though. Wayne Reynolds is the main artist for Pathfinder, and you can tell that these goblins are very similar to his Pathfinder goblins.
Tumblr media
Wort, Boggart Auntie is a completely amazing card. In limited, she’s an obvious first-pick bomb. Without other goblins, she’s a 3/3 that’s often unblockable. With even one other goblin, she’s card advantage. With Tarfire, Nameless Inversion, or any sacrifice outlet she can grant reliable card advantage every single turn. This was no less true in Standard, and while higher mana cost and Legendary status kept her from being a four-of, she was a strong late-game card for goblin tribal. As a Commander, I’m a bit biased here. She was my first Commander, and still one of my favorites. With Fear she’ll often accidentally win a game on her own just by doing 21 unblockable damage. Basic buffs such as goblin lords and equipment make this go even faster. In a goblin heavy deck, her card advantage is reliable, and while Tarfire is a bit small for Commander, Nameless Inversion has plenty of solid targets and it’s trivial to find sacrifice outlets and goblins that like to be sacrificed. With the possible exception of Krenko, Mob Boss, she’s probably the best option for a goblin tribal commander deck, opening up all of Lorwyn and Morningtide’s black goblins, and various forms of late game advantage that Red doesn’t have. My personal build involves using a number of cards that put my entire graveyard onto my battlefield, and then swinging with a lethal mass of goblins.
BONUS:
Tumblr media
Nameless Inversion is the only Changeling in Lorwyn particularly worth looking at from a Goblin standpoint. While all Black and Red Changelings make decent limited filler, Nameless Inversion’s the only one in Lorwyn with real power outside of that. Two mana to give a creature +3/-3 is fine, and randomly ruining enemy synergies is hilarious, but its real power is synergy with Wort, Boggart Auntie. Wort can redraw Nameless Inversion every turn, enabling a minor removal spell to gradually take over the game. Further, Goblin Matron or Boggart Harbinger can search for it and Goblin Ringleader can dig for it. Thus, while it’s not the strongest removal spell out there, a Goblin deck will be able to cast it more reliably than they can cast their other removal spells. I’d say identical things about Crib Swap, but there’s not yet enough reasons to run White in a Goblin deck.
