Remember John's letter I wrote a few days ago? Well, now we have the actual letter, complete with tea stains and something that looks like tears. (😢)

Fun fact: the font I used is the one from "Sherlock: The Casebook", so this is actually the handwriting of BBC Sherlock's John Watson.

So, usually a fic rec is a lot of nice words put together in more or less coherent sentences, telling the author what you loved the most about the fic and urging the (potential) readers to GO READ THAT FIC. Well, I don't really work like that and -somehow- I always feel that I can't put into words what really touched me or why I liked a fic (I can only use the words 'amazing', 'fantastic' or 'brilliant' so often.) as much as I did. I am getting better at it, I think, but I think I have a better way to show my love for a fic. Any way, long story short:

Greg has a case, asking for both Sherlock’s and John’s help. But John isn’t picking up his phone. After many futile attempts to reach his blogger, a worried Sherlock reluctantly contacts his big brother and asks for help. And sure enough: Mycroft finds out rather quickly where John is.

So... because @arwamachine 's fic Full Mount is so inspiring (no, honestly, go read it if you haven't!!), I made this little thing.

(And I had to watch a lot of pics of MMA fighters wearing pretty much nothing. I settled for Conor McGregor's upper body from like 2013, Conor McGregor's (much more muscular) legs from more recent days and Martin's head from the BAFTAs this year. 😇)

Do you sometimes read a fic and it just won’t leave your thoughts afterwards? (it happens way too often, thb.)

The current culprit is

I Knew Him First by LipstickDaddy ( @gaylilsherlock here on tumblr)

which has such a powerful ending and left me speechless and a bit heartbroken. I don’t want to spoil anything, it’s best that you read it yourself- it’s not even that long. But we warned: it’s rather angsty and couldn’t be further away from being fluffy or hopeful or light-hearted. Bring some tissues, maybe. You’ve been warned!

@gaylilsherlock was kind enough and let me borrow some lines of dialogue from the fic.

Plus, I also always wanted to see John in handcuffs. 😏 People who follow this blog for a while know that I would kill for John and defend him against everything. But yea, the beating in the morgue should have had (more) consequences. I don’t believe that John belongs in jail, he needs therapy and help and love and I started rambling now.

Sherlock and John work a new case. Which includes spies. John is very excited about it (and maybe he wants to watch Secret Invasion as much as I do 😇).

(And yes, it's obviously Nick Fury in the last frame, but with their coats and beanies he and Ross could have easily been mistaken for one another in this scene...)

I partly blame* @gaylilsherlock‘s fic My Pound Of Flesh and @totallysilvergirl‘s Thankless (a 5 + 1) for this. ⬆ Both fics deal with the aftermath of the morgue scene and John beating Sherlock to a pulp. And both fics had me thinking a lot, for different reasons. Can John be forgiven with a simple apology? No, and he shouldn’t. I always considered s4- John to be a broken man who suffered so much loss in his life (his career, Sherlock after The Fall, his wife and the mother of his child- and there is still not much known about his childhood and younger years) and after losing Mary he simply reached his breaking point.

I struggled a bit with coming up with the lines for this one... and then the amazing (and sometimes very chaotic) @topsyturvy-turtely thought of the line in the last panel. Sherlock acknowledges that what John did was a terrible and (nearly) unforgivable thing. But he also sees that John is sorry and regrets his actions and he is ready to forgive him. I wish we had a scene like that in the series.

(* I say blame, but I obviously meant both fics inspired me, they were both SO GOOD!)
