Headcanons for mutant busters because I felt like it and I have a giant list going to waste (for the less talked about characters, and I have some for every character so feel free to ask for someone not on this list)

Leviathan

He loves romance books

Before the apocalypse, he was a twitch streamer (he played video games) he wasn't very popular, but he enjoyed it and had dreams of doing it for a living

He has gills, webbed hands/feet and waterproof fur as well as a few scales while he's a colossus, which is why he served Verruca

He was mostly immune to the mental effects of mutation, but went "hey, Verruca has free food and place to sleep and the humans are chasing me away, so why not?" which is why he lived in panic chasm

He actually really likes Verruca and decided to try and reform her after the show ended

He knows a lot of random fun facts and is helping Dr White set up a trivia night for everyone

He's a multishipper and ships pretty much everyone together, but isn't interested in anyone himself

Dr White

He's a huge cat person

He's a single dad

He won't tell anyone his actual age. When Sheriff tried to find out and called him old, he gave him the worst chores for a month

Dronny was originally an experiment but Dr White got too attached and now he's a pet

His first name is Walter (/j)

His childhood best friend is Arkan. They also dated for a bit when they were teenagers. Nobody knows this

He loves every comedy movie

Tells dumb jokes

He loves Italian food, especially pizza

He used to make music videos with BP. They were really cringy, but he loves them anyway

Verruca

she really does not care about taking over the world

She really just wants to chill out and watch TV, even though all she can get is old CDs thanks to the apocalypse

She was hatched on Earth, the day that the mutants invaded

She was actually (unintentionally) really nice to Leviathan, not because she cared about him, but because she loved talking about Romance movies with him, and she let him have a lot of time off because she didn't want to take over the world either

She also loves cats. As in, eating them

She reformed after the series. It was very easy to convince her, all Leviathan had to do was bribe her by letting her join a film club with him and Dr White

I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

Raph’s the biggest Hero of the bunch of them let’s be perfectly real here. Raph is THE Hero #All the boys are smart in their own rights but Donnie is THE Genius. #and they all have mystic powers but Mikey is THE Mystic Warrior with immense untapped potential #likewise Leo I feel is THE Ninja #but yeah I love how much Leo goes for the spotlight anyway for better or for worse #he IS a performer again make no mistake! but again the way he does it still lines up with his natural ninja aptitude and I love it #Leo loving magic tricks and magicians so much works doubly well here because like #you’d think he’s focused solely on the performance flair - no it’s ALSO and ESPECIALLY the DECEPTION

Remember Mutant Busters? Good, because I have an idea to share!

Remember how they started growing carrots? I have an idea that Sheriff’s the most experienced (so despite not liking it, he’s the best at this chore), but the others, not so much. Their frequent mistakes in something he’s done for so long that it’s obvious to him combined with his already irritated attitude might make him mad enough to drive them off to let him do it out of frustration. Surprisingly, Brutux is the only one who can avoid this because he’s rather interested in learning about what Sheriff can teach him and is going to try going back to the library to see if he can find a book to help him learn even more. He asks questions and follows his lead very well. He almost makes the chore a little enjoyable for Sheriff.

I KEEP FORGETTING TO ASK THIS ONE

You have any Vegan-Su headcannons?

I do infact have some to share my friend! It's not a long list, never really is with me. Anywyas.

- She's Aro/Ace. I love spreading my aro/ace Vegan propaganda. No but uh, when watching the show I thought she was aro/ace! Like honest to god I watched this show and went "oh she's me frfr!2!2" (because I'm aro/ace myself) and it was like that up until the mermaids episode whatever it was called where I had this "oh." Moment. So yeah, to me she's aro/ace and I hold this headcanon close to me.

- As a young kid, would've dreamt of having her own mechanics shop but yk. The apocalypse kinda threw a wrench (hah.) in that plan.

- was homeschooled (along with BP, I didn't mention this in my post about him. I jus forgot). Her mother would teach them most things and Dr. White would occasionally add in his own lessons when not busy.

- was involved in underground fighting. Despite only learning how to fight to protect BP, something about it gave her this kind of rush and she craved it almost, leading to her involving herself in some less than legal fight clubs.

Mmm that's all my bread brain™️ can conjure up at the minute, I'm about to go to school anyways (last day wooo!! I can be more active hopefully!) so there's not much time to add on more. Hopefully this satisfies you for now my friend!

What if Big Mama recruits Jessica Jacklyn as some sort of referee/hype woman for the Battle Nexus in the Hidden City? Be honest. Do you seriously think that Jessica would be discouraged by the sight of supernatural, nonhuman beings fighting to the death? I THINK THE FUCK NOT. If anything, she would be even more psyched to be there.

Just imagine Jessica standing between two or more unnatural beasts with weapons strapped to their bodies and saying, “Anything goes,” with a devilish smirk and a sassy pose.

Rise of the TMNT Timeline

Alright, by piecing together some clues from the show and making some educated guesses, I’ve put together a tentative chronology for Rise!

(Note: not all episodes are included, just a couple that either have timeline evidence or are somehow plot notable. This is assuming the canonical episode order is also chronological order.)

[EDIT] Added some more information (namely Splinter’s birthday month).

1600s-ish: The Shredder was created and sealed away September 1960: Splinter was born 1966: Splinter’s mother left (Finale part 1 flashback) 1979: Splinter left for America (Finale part 1 flashback) 1980-1984: Splinter became an action film star, dated around 1984: Splinter started dating Big Mama 1987: Splinter’s “Hot Soup: the Game” was released 1989: Splinter proposed to Big Mama, was imprisoned in Battle Nexus November 2002: April was born April-August 2003: (Presumably) Raph was born April-August 2004: (Presumably) Leo and Donnie were born April-August 2005: (Presumably) Mikey was born October 2005: Splinter and the Turtles were mutated February 2014: The first Lair Games was held 2014-2016: Donnie made his first battleshell, goggles, and tech bracer Early 2018: Piebald was flushed August 2018: Mystic Mayhem (the series begins), Down with the Sickness September 2018: The Turtle Tank was created (The Fast and the Furriest), Bug Busters, Hypno part Deux October 2018: Bullhop,  Evil League of Mutants, Shelldon was first created (Smart Lair), Shadow of Evil November 2018: April’s 16th Birthday (Warren and Hypno), April meets Sunita (Operation: Normal) December 2018: Snow Day January 2019: S1 Finale February 2019: The sixth Lair Games was held (Lair Games), Repairin’ the Baron March 2019: Air Turtle April-May 2019: S2 Finale

(Reasoning below the cut!)

So. Assuming that the episodes occur in chronological order, we can reasonably assume that the course of the show proper takes around or slightly less than a year.

In Hypno Part Deux, April is going to a homecoming dance; homecoming dances happen usually around the beginning of the school year, in late September or early October. Since she is canonically 15 at the time (she says she’s 16 in Always Be Brownies, which happens after her birthday) and has a birthday that comes after homecoming, that would likely make her a high school junior! That’s not important, just a fun fact. Placing the beginning of the series around August makes sense, then, since it’d be before April started school and during flu season, giving Splinter a good reason for catching the rat flu in Down with the Sickness.

The other solid time marker we have is Snow Day, which obviously takes place during snow season in New York (which is usually December to March). It’d likely be closer to December, since I’d like to imagine that they would have gone out to have fun in the snow as soon as they could have, potentially even at first snow. Since Lair Games comes chronologically after Snow Day and confirms the year as being 2019, we can assume that most episodes that happen before Snow Day happened in 2018 while those after happened in 2019.

Another, slightly more tenuous time marker is Bullhop, where a calendar is shown that says the 21st of the month was on a Sunday; by our previous assumption, this is 2018, so a calendar shows this must have been during the month of October, which falls in line with the rest of our timeline here! Neat. The 2018-2019 NBA season went from October 6 to April 10, so, since Air Turtle presumably showed a late season game with potential for turnaround, early March seems like a fair bet. All of those episodes combined give a pretty good sense of time throughout the series, spanning from probably around August 2018 to Mid-2019. The finale could have happened any time after March and before June (when high school would end, meaning Sloppy Joe wouldn’t have had to be working Draxum’s kitchen). Because there were quite a few episodes that should have happened before the finale, though, I’ll split the difference and say the S2 finale happened in or around May.

Fun detail: by this timeline, April’s birthday is sometime between October and December/January, likely November (seeing as it comes after Bullhop but before Snow Day, and judging by the fall colors of the foliage in Operation Normal which comes directly after her birthday episode.)

As for the brothers, we can assume that they might have different birthdays judging by how in Lair Games, Mikey says that one of his favorite days is “my birthday”; if they all shared a birthday, he might have been more likely to say “our birthday”. They were mutated sometime close to October, but since they didn’t seem to see the date of their mutation as anything special in ELoM, we can assume they don’t celebrate it as their birthday. We know that at the beginning of the show, Mikey is 13, Leo and Donnie are 14, and Raph is 15; at no point during the show do any of them have a birthday, which leads me to assume that they are the same ages by the S2 finale. They COULD have had a birthday offscreen, but since birthdays are a pretty big thing for teenagers, I’d think that if one of them had a birthday it would be pretty noteworthy. I’ll just guess and say they didn’t have one. If that’s the case, then all of their birthdays would be some time between April-ish and August-ish. By the time the show starts, then, they would have already had their birthdays, confirming for us their (probably only guessed anyway but whatever) birth years as 2003, 2004, and 2005. Realistically, Splinter probably didn’t know how much older Raph was from any of the others or anything like that, but the years are still somewhat important for age calculation purposes. I could try to guess their birthday months by saying they might all have wanted a unique birthday month, but that would be complete conjecture on my part (as compared to the rest of this which is just mostly conjecture), and would honestly be more headcanon territory than an educated guess? So for the timeline I’ll just say that their birthdays are between April and August.

Now, reaching further backwards to figure out Splinter’s life timeline!

In Splinter’s memories in E-turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, we see a clip of a teenage Splinter. Said “teenage splinter” looks to be on the older side of teenager, as he seems to have his own apartment and just looks older besides, so I’d place him at either 18 or 19 (leaning towards 19). Additionally, taking a look around his room, it looks like he might be using a Sony Walkman (first made in 1979), and has what looks to be a Star Wars poster on his wall (1977). Additionally, he has a TV in his room that looks to be a Toshiba Blackstripe model that was popular in the mid-to-late 70s. While I can’t tell if he does actually have a walkman or not, I’d probably place this scene as being 1978 or 1979 anyway, so let’s just say it’s 1979. If he was 19 in 1979, that would place Splinter’s birth year as 1960, which is nice and even so I’m keeping it. That would make Splinter 58-59 during the course of the show, which seems to track! He has a birthday in Mascot Melee (the turtles are buying him a new robe as a birthday present), which, according to my episode timeline, puts his birthday around early September.

The flashback of Splinter as a kid is a little bit tricky, since he looks to be about five or six judging by how he acts in the scene? But he’s also holding a Kamen Rider doll, and that show didn’t exist until 1971. I nonetheless place the scene in 1966, since this is a cartoon and hey, maybe the Kamen Rider equivalent came out a few years earlier in this world, who cares. The bottle flip challenge already apparently happened in 2014 here, why not move some other stuff around? This exercise has already had me comparing calendar days, I will not be deterred

In Many Unhappy Returns, the clapperboard for the film “Crouching Shrimp, Hidden Tiger Prawn” in Splinter’s flashback shows that it was 1984 when he first met Big Mama, meaning that he was not only Lou Jitsu by then (at just 24 years old!), but that he had been making movies for at least a few years. After all, he and Big Mama were supposedly inseparable after meeting, and in The Shadow of Evil, it’s shown that Splinter did date around a bit as a star. Assuming that rat dad isn’t the cheating type, that would have had to be before meeting Big Mama. In Fists of Furry, Splinter mentions that he hasn’t seen any of his dojos in thirty years; while he may not have meant literally thirty years on the dot, assuming he’s at least close, that would mean that he was first abducted around 1989 (age 29). At that point, he and Big Mama would have been dating for around 5 years, which seems like a reasonable amount of time for him to wait before proposing. He also would have had time to build up quite a bit of fame as a movie star; the game he had of him looks to be on a system similar to the Atari 2600 and in fact looks pretty similar to the real life game “Kung Fu Master” that came out on Atari in 1987, a year which would have been the prime of his career. Sure, that date works as well as any. After that point, we know he was imprisoned in the Battle Nexus until Baron Draxum kidnapped him in order to use his DNA to mutate the turtles 13 years before The Evil League of Mutants. That would have placed his kidnapping and their mutations at around October of 2005, judging by the monthly timeline of the show. So, Splinter would have been around 45 when he adopted the turtles, after having been imprisoned and forced to fight for ~16 straight years. Dang.

Finally, I figured that the whole deal with Shredder and Karai would have happened at some point in the 1600s as it was 18 generations ago, judging by the number of “greats” in Karai’s grandma title, and if you average out a generation to be about 20-25 years, that lands you in the range of the 15th century. That works especially because Ninja apparently first started becoming a thing in the 15th century, so the timing checks out well enough.

(and, just as an extra fun note for the timeline, the lair games was said to have been going on for 6 years as of early 2019, meaning it must have started in 2014. We see that, in 2014 (year 1 of the Lair Games), Donnie doesn’t have his goggles or battleshell and is instead wearing glasses. In 2016 (year 3), though, he looks about the same as he does in the present, meaning he must have created all his tech that he wears on him (battleshell, goggles, tech bracer) between 2014 and 2016.)

So, the above timeline is a guesstimated and shoved around compilation of all this totally meaningless investigation, typed in a form that makes some kind of chronological sense! I hope that someone finds it useful, or just fun to think about :D

Not really. When I first joined Tumblr it was to look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stuff but I didn’t realise there was discussion around which incarnations were the best ext. I’ve not stopped liking the show, but I don’t really look at TMNT stuff anymore.

1 - More BugsxElmer stuff. Particularly fanfiction as that’s my creative area so it’d be nice to see some other stuff. To be fair @tuney-and-looney does a lot of Elmer-related stuff and I think @ananicoleta has done some to? 

2 - Maybe more Elmer stuff in general. Particularly - just though of this now - maybe more stuff about his relationship with Elmyra? I headcanon he’s adopted her after Tiny Toons ended [and he and Bugs also adopted Buster and Babs as well] I might do some headcanons, but not sure because I’ve got a lot on in RL now.

What were your favorite episodes of Rise of the TMNT season 1, and did you have a least favorite episode/any episodes that you didn’t like?

going by their order of appearance, my faves are:

- Down With the Sickness (i’m still not over the concept of mutant flues like this, like what even)

- Bug Busters (BIG MAMA’S INTRODUCTION. i love spider milf.)

- Mrs. Cuddles (yall remember how demon puppets are canonically real?? can we address this again please)

- Pizza Pit (god bless DIGG)

- Operation: Normal (april+sunita meet cute, adorable bby lesbians)

- How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will (aka draxum adopts a knife daughter)

- Mystic Library (full disclosure i want to live in this library, i want them to visit it again omgggg)

- Man vs. Sewer (*slaps raph’s shell* this boy can fit so many xeno headcanons in him)

- Insane in the Mama Train & Endgame (these ones are a given)

and tbqh, i didn’t dislike any episodes! they were all delightful and exciting! which is a big ol’ seal of approval coming from me, since 9/10 times i can find at least something to critique about a show.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.

His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).

Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

Shooter can see fine out of the eye covered by his visor. He wears it to improve his aim when shooting

The visor-target thing (idk what its called) covers one of his ears. He has type three microtia in that ear and wears a hearing aid. He got bullied a lot for it in school and started to cover his ear out of shame, and when the apocalypse started he purposely built the visor to hide it (Shooter needs a hug)

His hearing aid went flat before he joined La resistance (finding batteries is hard in the apocalypse) so he's partially deaf

He has naturally yellow irises. Nobody knows why.

He has the greasiest hair ever

He's a closeted omnisexual

And by closeted I mean he hasn't figured it out yet

He has dated like 10 different people (none of the relationships lasted more than two months)

He plays horror games and can't sleep afterwards

He is S H O R T

Uses bad pickup lines on Sheriff as a "joke"

He used to have a pet lizard. Its name was bullet.

I think its pretty much canon but he has dyscalculia and ADHD

He was somehow never held back in school?

Welll you don't have to pick just one. But anyways.

I think I've gotten this ask before actually. It's floating around somewhere but I don't wanna go searching so I'm sure you don't either. So let's start!

- He's Omnisexual and trans. I kinda adopted this hc off of Polar. I love it though and hold it close

- completely blind in his right(?) eye. He kinda where's the thingy over it as a glorified eye patch.

- Has a good cry to the undertale soundtrack (me too buddy)

- Has his bachelors degree in computer science and was going for his masters when shit hit the fan.

(You won't believe how much I had to google shit to write that.)

- he's 24, turns 25 sometime in the show.

- Does modifications for his weapons. And before meeting Sheriff, did it for others (for a price- namely items he could cash in for a decent amount of credits w/ Brutux [namely books])

Okay so first of all, fuck you @polarized-here for what I’m about to rant about. (/j /lh, I could never b upset at you mootie 🤞)

So I’m just sitting here in my bed thinking: “it’s so easy to link mcsm and mutant busters and create a possibly cursed crossover.”

Like- like THINK ABOUT IT‼️ Jesse and the group would be travelling the portals tryna get home (obviously this would be before the whole PAMA thing) and they just end up in this post apocalyptic lookin world where mutants have taken over the world and the only way to cure it is by finding vegetables. They would definitely land in the courtyard thing of the base idk. And MB gang is like: “okay idfk who you guys are but your cool you can stay with us”

And this world is so much different to what they’re used to like, GUNS are fucking thing and- and like there’s all this high tech shit that they don’t understand.

But it would also be weird for the MB gang like- these newcomers from another world literally have pocket dimensions and can shove a whole ass swords in their pockets. Also there’s the whole enchanted gear thing. That’s not normal in their world. It would be strange for both parties but it would be an even better learning experience.

Also I imagine the mcsm group can’t leave till the world is fixed or whatever u wanna call it. in my head they end appearing in the MB world a little after Sheriff is revealed to be part mutant. also keep in mind that I believe time works differently when they’re in a different world, so days/weeks/months in a different world is just seconds/minutes/hours in their home world.

In this cursed crossover Sheriff and Jesse would be a force to be reckoned with. Those two would be absolute pranksters. Given they may not always go according to plan (even better imo) but it always ends up being a mess. They would also definitely spar, both are extremely skilled at using swords (a personal headcanon of mine is Sheriff knows how to sword fight). They also seem like the kind of guys to share leadership tips, for Jesse it would be to be a lil more loose (yeah I just said that.) and for Sheriff it would be to be more stern when needed. All in all they would be great friends. extra thing I wanna add: I think BP would also join in on the duo’s shenanigans.

VEGAN SU AND PETRA MY GIRLBOSSES 💪💪‼️😻! They could probably get away with murder tbh. I can see those two spending hours working on the buggy’s. And when they’re not? Probably boxing. They like- perfectly match each other’s personalities. (Scary and tough unless your someone they care about.) Petra and Vegan Su would totally complain about the lack of girls in their respective groups. This is also a bit OOC but they would spend hours gossiping and shit talking everyone else.

Shooter and Lukas are worried for the health and safety of their boyfriends (Sheriff and Jesse, respectively). I’m thinking that once Shooter pries Lukas out of his Shy & timid shell, the two spend hours competing against each other in various different video games. Mainly Mario Kart but others as well. Shooter would explain technology to Lukas so he could document it in his notebook.
