definitely at surface level its your standard warriors mom daughter relationship, and the thing about firefang/kylins relationships with her moms is she perceives it all to be surface level good and perfect but on mossysteps side theres this like, underlying resentment, not for firefang herself but in general, because the whole thing is as soon as she was weaned ebonystar went back to warriors duties and being the deputy so mossystep was kinda stuck taking care of her 97% of the time. and she loves her daughter but she didnt really Want to be a queen for that long and didnt sign up for that.

essentially mossystep loves her a whole lot but is kind of emotionally exhausted from raising her almost entirely by herself without any break and firefang has absolutely 0 idea about this and by that i mean shes vaguely aware but is like Haha everythings fine! i dont feel like a burden sometimes! and i dont feel insecure about how my other mom didnt seem to care about raising me! so glad everythings normal here!

but like again at the end of the day they love each other a lot. even though also mossystep is a little <:/ about her being influenced by Murder good philosophy

I adore eeltuft's design! Can you tell us a bit more of them personality wise? What about their life's story?

Eeltuft is not Super Developed so have some basic Fun Facts!

Eelkit was born with a long neck, like her mom. However unlike her mother, she never “grew into it”, leading to her name being Very Appropriate. She did beg her leader Yardstar (formerly Yardstick, was a kittypet with three legs) not to name her EelNECK. She got named for her lil ear tufties instead.

She was a bit of a jerk as an apprentice, often pranking Blackpaw for being too “sensitive”. It took her mentor Ninetoes (because she keeps losing fur off of them, she’s only lost 4) basically shaking her by the scruff after Blackpaw nearly had a mental breakdown. She apologized, but she and Blackfang had a strained relationship.

She and Shiningpaw weren’t close as apprentices, but that was because he has a tendency to fade into the background. However, once they became Warriors, and Mossystep started being…off (she was in a forbidden out-of-clan loner relationship), Shiningleap stepped in to be her friend. Eeltuft didn’t even know she had Husband Standards but boy did she find out what they were quick!

When she had her kits, Halfkit and Shellkit were teased by Mossystep’s older brood for their unusual fur. Eeltuft stepped in to stop it, and then Mossystep started up?!? Oh dirt no!! Did you not learn?!? Seeing Eeltuft defend her kits led to she and Blackfang fully making up, and Mossystep losing her last real friend. As soon as her kits were fully weaned, Mossystep left with her loner bf, yowling about being mistreated. Eeltuft and Shiningleap stepped up, and soon enough Graykit, Moonkit, and Crystalkit considered them more as parents than as aunt and uncle.

Aaand that’s all I can think of! I might draw the other cats mentioned, but no promises! I hope that answered your questions!

top five moments of cr campaign 2 !

Oh jeez... Okay. Let’s see if I can figure this out (in no particular order): 

Caleb’s Confession (2x18, Whispers of War) 

Anyone who’s followed me for any amount of time can probably piece together that I am... incredibly invested in Caleb’s progression. I probably project a lot onto him, and honestly that all started in this moment. I’ve written blog posts about it and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it. Something really big shifted here for me and I’ll never be able to unsee it. This was also one of the first moments of real emotional vulnerability that ever really stood out to me in C2. So there’s that. 

“He’s My Boy” (2x13, Lost & Found) 

This was the FIRST moment of real emotional direction that I remember seeing. Nott defending Caleb’s actions as well as explaining their very complicated dynamic in such simple terms felt really genuine. I still can’t watch this scene without getting emotional and honestly, it was the first moment that I saw how far they were gonna fall. Which... y’know (spoilers for episode 48) but look at us now. Hanging by a thread. 

Fjord’s First Dream (2x5, The Open Road) 

Hoooooooolyyyyyy shit, y’all. If I wasn’t invested before this moment (full disclosure: i definitely was), I was definitely invested after this. C2 was my first introduction to Critical Role, and to Dungeons and Dragons as a story medium, and this shit blew my mind. For the first time, I saw it for what it really truly was: an interactive method of storytelling. And Fjord and Travis both fucking outshone the moon in this scene. This had me hook, line, and sinker. 

The Aftermath of Molly (2x27, Converging Fury)

Molly’s death in and of itself devastated me. I was a wreck. But I’m being 100% honest when I say that I think it impacted the Mighty Nein for the better. I think that the bravery and the indigence and the conflict that we saw in that episode gave way to the people we see now. To Beau growing so much and Caleb admitting that the M9 are his friends. It brought us to a really quick growing up for that whole party... one that I really think they needed. No, I’m not glad Molly died, but yes, I’m very glad that his death had the impact it did. 

Kiri. All of Her. (2x20-2x25)

Okay, here’s the thing: Kiri was vastly fun and games. She was a chance for Matt to mimic his players and for shenanigans to ensue. (Who trusted a bunch of assholes with a tiny baby bird??? Matthew Mercer. That’s who.) But Kiri also served as a point of honesty and good-will with the M9. They all had to think about what they were doing and how they were going to present it to this small child--and even when they had bad intentions, they really, really had to consider the consequences. Conscience and gentleness look really good on them. Kiri’s episodes taught us a lot about the softer sides of the M9 and I love them.

cover for my second minicomic, white noise! "chad why does this one have a cover but the other doesnt" because i Felt like it.

this is a short 7 page comic exploring the relationship between two background characters named birchtail and heronclaw that takes place roughly 5 months before fading starlight. doesnt have much bearing on the main plot but i wanted to finish another minicomic just to like. really prepare myself for getting back into comics i guess

I wanna ask about fs2...tell me about...I think cat tethys is named moonkit right??? What's she up to???

OK OK OK its basically honestly like a warriors adaptation of what infinite wouldve been. only im kinda floundering on moonkits arc and ive merged jamie and anons stories. basically the story follows shadowclan after the demise of riverclan and the great fire. somewhere out there asphodelsong is a rogue and stumbles upon this riverclan kit whos like My Dad totally didnt die in front of me and im totally fine. and they meet another young loner and shes like oh shit its free children.

but anyways shadowclan auburnshine is like the only riverclan survivor and she attacks firefang on patrol and fatally wounds her which is enough to make mossystep finally snap and shadowclan splits apart. so the conflict is between shadowclan and the new group led by mossystep and the other cats that disagree with ebonystar and asphodelsong and moonkit and scorch all get wrapped up in it. firefang can interact with cricketstep because he can see ghosts and is desperately trying to continue where she left off in her life by possessing him. duskfire is just kinda going through it and eventually the city cats get involved where we meet scorchs brother ash who was separated from him, and harpers a bigger antagonistic force. i just love infinite and fs because its all entirely caused by zora/ebonystar being fucking batshit and like things would be so much better if she just got over her mom dying

Well, you were right on the non-anime count (I had a very, very brief period where I tried to draw in an anime style, but it had basically no bearing on the way I draw now.) However, I’ve never read Homestuck in my life. Really good guess, though!!

Seeing Ghosts pt. 2

The mighty nein leave town, as quietly as a group like them can.  He begs them not to ask him to explain why, not yet, and for the most part, they don’t.  

They ride into the night, and he explains as much as he can next to the fire of their camp.  Some of them understand more than others, as always, and as always, he’s not sure that any of them get it.  He’s not sure that it matters.

He is selfish, and he knows this, and he is is so afraid for them.

That night, he remembers.

He remembers caring, and reluctant laughter, and being afraid.

He remembers dancing from one person to another in starlight and the dim glow of a house they should be inside.

He remembers falling out of his chair, startled by the reaction of spell components he hadn’t expected to work, and hearing a laugh that almost makes him wish he could do it again.

He remembers throwing the first punch, his target dodging out of the way.  He remembers landing and hearing a laugh that makes him burn to do it again.

His hands remember holding others, his lips remember spells and kisses and curses, his ears remember words that he cannot help but whisper into the depths of the blanket he’s crammed his face into to block the same out.  Few of them are good.

His feet remember running through a field, splashing through a river, racing down hallways (the feel of a backpack sometimes still sparks his worry of running late), racing down different hallways with an entirely different kind of dread, crashing into--the grass or arms or wall or fear or--something or nothing.

He remembers learning dancing lights, the first time.  He remembers casting it and his mother and father were so proud--

He remembers casting burning hands for the first time, cutting off the retreat of a man they had cornered and looking up and Ikithon had nodded, just once, and he had been so proud--

He remembers watching Astrid cast blindness/deafness, and seeing her smile as their target fell to his knees, shouting and clawing at his ears.  He remembers Ikithon nodding, and she turned back to grin at the two of them--

He remembers Eodwulf stepping up, throwing a shield in front of them just in time to block the knife slung by the deafened man, and Ikithon nodded and Eodwulf grinned at them and he was so proud (and so angry that that man would dare; his hands were warm and itching to bring down that which would hurt his people, but it was hard to focus on that through the shimmering barrier and the voice behind them that came above all else--)

Caleb Widogast holds his blanket to his ears like that deafened man and silently screams and drowns in memories until they sweep him away into dreams that burn more than his past.

gotta ask once again what flowers those are so i can cry about symbolism!

Aw, I hope I don’t disappoint, but I went light on the symbolism this go around! These are all common wildflowers that I thought would evoke the feel of the roads the M9 are travelling in Wildemount - daisies, buttercups, cone flower, poppies, wild rose, and sweet pea.
