I hadn’t posted this on tumblr yet but I’ve been working on a robot dude concept for my portfolio, here’s some concept art and a final render. I also wrote a small paragraph about their background which you can read beneath the cut!

Lore:

The area his robot lived in used to be a warzone, and the robot used to be a war machine. Years after the war had ended, various people tried to rebuild their homes in the wastelands that the war had left. Many used scrap from ruined houses to build up new ones, and people even reprogrammed some war robots to help them with the rebuilding of the area and other daily tasks. These wastelands, however, were slightly contaminated by radioactive/chemical spills from weapons used in the war. Once the people realised this, they all fled and left the rebuilt city and robots for what they were.

One person, a mechanic, falling I’ll because of the radiation, knew it was too late for them to return to safer lands, so they decided to try and upload their memory and conscience to their helper robot. Despite all their effort, they were short on time and only half succeeded in uploading the insides of their brain to the robot. This resulted in the robot becoming semi self aware and remembering fragments of a life they never lived themselves.

The reformed robot now roams the land looking for their own past and purpose while slowly breaking down because they too, weren’t fully immune to the radioactive substances since the mechanic installed some organic parts to make the robot more susceptible to their brain.

The cat on its shoulder was the mechanics house pet. The cat once lost its leg but the mechanic replaced it with a mechanical leg, enabling the cat to keep on living. Unlike humans, that were killed by the radiation, the cat seems to only be mutating slowly. With no real reason for the cat to stay behind, the cat now follows the robot through forgotten wastelands simply because they recognise traces of their previous owner in the robot.

Man’s name is Damian

Personality: He’s very cheery, and very friendly. Very. He’s desperate for attention and often looks for it in the wrong places. He get’s attached easily, and once he’s attached to someone, it’s near impossible to get him unattached. If he becomes attached to a bad person, he puts up with it and justifies every action. He’s really lonely. He’s not stupid, he’s just desperate. He’s very dedicated to his hobbies and loved ones.

Backstory and Lore: he grew up in a neglectful home, and was kicked out as soon as it was legal. He put on a cheery persona, although he was in a very, very dark spot, contemplating some very dark things. His life was in the gutter, and then he met Fela. Fela promised him whatever he needed in return for his help. He instantly fell in love. Platonically.

He followed them around and did anything to please them. This was the most attention he got in his life. One day, Fela mysteriously got kidnapped, and all signed pointed to a pink puffball. Kirby. He then set on a mission to rescue his best friend.

Fela is a manipulative jerk who ran away to use Damian’s affection to their own needs. They knew Damian and Kirby combined could restore them to their former glory, so they framed Kirby for their “kidnapping”, and then asked kirby to help with “an evil demon who’s been following them around trying to kidnap them”.

Fela will not be entered into this tourney 😊

Shovin was once apart of the moth tribe, but when the infection arose, instead of facing his tribe in their collective crime of forgetting the radiance, he ran away and hid. He now passes as a Mosskin in Greenpath, and worships Unn. He is quiet, and finds shame with himself

Melphissa is a weaver who remained in Hallownest after the infection appeared. She makes garments enhanced/enchanted with weaver loom patterns that she spins herself. She is vain and prioritizes physical appearance, taking great pride in making garbs for those who ask.

Bieter is a Honeypot Ant who came from another nest. he gathers exotic or hard to find food (usually honey), and sells it to others as he travels. Bieter has a short fuse and doesnt entirely know when to back down, willing to take on foes or challenges far too big for him.

Hoggin doesnt remember their past. All they know is the Grimm troupe they've joined and their role as a performer. All they desire is to make people happy. They are cryptic and jovially antagonistic (but are truly joyful and carefree)
