45th Birthday week 1 started Jan. 1st 2022 w/ a text from @michroc saying #mikehernandez is on the island an it’s his last night. @nubia_esny an I got ready an jumped in da car, drove through torrential rain to meet up @rajaneethai_haleiwa talked for hours & ate amazing food, tanks @keners / @michroc 🤜🏽🍻🤛🏽 got a new piece done that we have been working on #diamond #scrosspendant dropping soon. Venturing out on O'ahu - a mix of tried-and-true and some new adventures. First the tried-and-true: If on O'ahu, you MUST hit #LeonardsBakery for the #Malasadas. Malasadas are the best...the BEST! Originally from Portugal, these delectable pastries have become a true part of Hawaiian culture. If venturing to the North Shore, it's a given to get a #DoleWhip from the #DolePlantation. While it is a tourist trap in the truest sense, it's flippin' Dole Whip from the source! We always try to get there as early as possible to avoid heavy friends and lack of parking. Then, there's #MatsumotoShaveIce. A true legendary snack from a legendary place. Shave Ice is another Hawaiian culture piece and they do it so well. Next, the new (well, new to me and my family): We finally made it to the #ByodoInTemple this trip. What a beautiful, serene place! I took a metric ton of pics here but I only had so much space here to share. While it is a replica of the Byodo-In in Kyoto, Japan, it is nonetheless stunning. We also finally drove out to see the famous #Mokolii (colloquially known as 'Chinaman's Hat'). Such a cool little islet that I've been wanting to photograph for quite some time.
