Some more interior shots from the #RoyalHawaiianHotel. There are so many beautiful details - some truly historic - at this hotel: like the map of Hawaii which has been in place at the main elevator lobby since the hotel opened in the 1920s or the hall of pictures showing that the likes of Shirley Temple, Amelia Earhart and Duke Kahanamoku stayed there. We did the historic tour of the hotel and there was just so much history packed in the place. . . . #Hawaii #Oahu #ThePinkPalaceOfThePacific #Sonya6000 #TamronB070 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQMjSHRD-0N/?utm_medium=tumblr

Continuing my #Oahu "slideshow": after a few days in Waikiki, we made our way up the coast to #KoOlina and to Disney's #Aulani. Aulani is, as always, super photogenic and I took full advantage of this on a daily basis. This is a small sample of the pics I took there. . . . #Hawaii #Disney #Sonya6000 #TamronB070 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQl2IidjSrQ/?utm_medium=tumblr

Venturing out on O'ahu - a mix of tried-and-true and some new adventures. First the tried-and-true: If on O'ahu, you MUST hit #LeonardsBakery for the #Malasadas. Malasadas are the best...the BEST! Originally from Portugal, these delectable pastries have become a true part of Hawaiian culture. If venturing to the North Shore, it's a given to get a #DoleWhip from the #DolePlantation. While it is a tourist trap in the truest sense, it's flippin' Dole Whip from the source! We always try to get there as early as possible to avoid heavy friends and lack of parking. Then, there's #MatsumotoShaveIce. A true legendary snack from a legendary place. Shave Ice is another Hawaiian culture piece and they do it so well. Next, the new (well, new to me and my family): We finally made it to the #ByodoInTemple this trip. What a beautiful, serene place! I took a metric ton of pics here but I only had so much space here to share. While it is a replica of the Byodo-In in Kyoto, Japan, it is nonetheless stunning. We also finally drove out to see the famous #Mokolii (colloquially known as 'Chinaman's Hat'). Such a cool little islet that I've been wanting to photograph for quite some time. Hopefully, i can make it out to Mokoli'i in the future and photograph it up close! . . . #Hawaii #Oahu #Sonya6000 #TamronB070 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQbZVHmjsvN/?utm_medium=tumblr

After a brief pause, some more pics from the Waikiki area of Honolulu. We'd never stayed in the area so we tried to pack in as much as we could of it while we were there. Since I've been taking a deep dive into Tiki culture during the quarantine, it was especially cool to see that the International Marketplace retains a tribute to Don the Beachcomber (who pretty much created the International Marketplace) in the form of a treehouse in it's famous banyan tree. . . . #Hawaii #Waikiki #Honolulu #DonTheBeachcomber #DonnBeach #Sonya6000 #TamronB070 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQaHr0dju4f/?utm_medium=tumblr

Was lucky enough to finally leave the house and go on a plane for vacation. We spent the time on O'ahu with the first few nights spent at the Royal Hawaiian ("The Pink Palace of the Pacific") which is a beautiful historic hotel on Waikiki beach. To call this building photogenic is a bit of an understatement - these are a tiny selection of the pics I took here. . . . #Hawaii #Oahu #Honolulu #Waikiki #RoyalHawaiianHotel #PinkPalaceOfThePacific #Sonya6000 #TamronB070 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQMgY9Pj8a7/?utm_medium=tumblr
