Mortal Kombat 2021 with a Platonic, Child Reader

Characters included: Cole Young, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade

Note(s): This is an 'AU' of sorts where they have more time to train and and Shang Tsung doesn't attack Raidens Temple.

This has been in my drafts for about a year now, enjoy!

Cole Young

Sleepovers with Emily? Yes. Absolutely. Cole and Allison get woken up at 5 AM by you two roasting Kano, he has to hold back punching the two of you because he knows that everyone in the Temple would make that personal.

When you're both training at Raiden's Temple, Cole always goes easy on you and views you as his own kid, he gets how finding your Arcana is difficult, especially when it seems like everybody else already has this figured out.

You probably don't have any fighting experience so he takes some extra time to help you, and while he can't teach you any deadly moves, mainly teaching you defense and how to knock out an opponent, he's still very helpful.

Cole gives you extras at dinner, it's not very sneaky, he doesn't even try to hide it. Cue the teasing from everybody else at the table.

If you have anxieties about the tournament he tries calming you down by reading a story, it helped Emily so he can only assume it will help you as well, even for your age it's childish, but it makes things melt away for a moment. There's no training, unfamiliar temple, or Outworld, just Cole and a story.

He gets a mix between anger and sadness whenever anybody mentions the fact you need to participate in the tournament, he's tried to convince Raiden to take you out, to no avail, it leaves him to spend more time with you, he's afraid he'll lose you when the time comes.

Has absolutely no medical experience, the best he can do is carry you to Liu Kang or other medics.

Liu Kang

Liu helps with your temper or anxieties a lot, he's basically always behind you putting a hand on your shoulder, and views himself as an older brother to you.

He's very sympathetic and will give you advice or just listen when you need it, no matter what situation you're in. Liu is extremely truthful as well, if you're in the wrong he will tell you but he'll let you down easy with it.

Liu has a watchful eye on you at all times, he visibly sweats whenever you get close to Kano, Kung Lao teases him for it constantly.

He's like your doctor, and usually won't take you to any other medic in the Temple unless it's necessary, if you're injured in any way he's helping you and you cannot stop him. That is if you ever manage to get hurt anyway, he doesn't let Kung Lao or Kano use their Arcana on you.

Actually your personal hype man, the living embodiment of 'you're doing great sweetie', regardless of how many times you fall over in training, he only counts the times you get up.

Speaking of training, he tends to use repeated attacks so you can learn how to defend against them more easily, he doesn't use his fire unless he's certain you can move away from it, and he's very unsure about using heavier attacks on you.

That's why he's mainly instructing a fight between you and somebody else, so he can set ground rules to keep you not injured while allowing you to learn.

Liu Kang won't talk to you about it, but he's had multiple arguments with Raiden over allowing you to be in the tournament in the first place. He believes that since you're a child, you shouldn't be risking your life. Raiden doesn't listen.

Kung Lao

Kung Lao is probably distant at first, he doesn't really know how to act around children, at least not as an adult. He shares the same opinion of all the chosen, you need to be taken out of the tournament, and while he won't say it out loud, he does back people up when the opinion is shared.

He's more willing to use his aracana and 'deadlier' methods of training, but he has such a control over his fighting style and hat that you've never gotten extremely injured. Anytime you do get injured, he picks you up, regardless of if the injury allows you to walk or not, and takes you to the infirmary himself.

He's not good at comforting words, if you're nervous for the tournament, the most he can say is that fate wouldn't have chosen you for this if it wasn't meant to be.

Kung Lao already despises Kano, but he makes one remark towards you and in his eyes he's about to be a dead man, Liu Kang has had to hold him back on a number of occasions.

Sneaks you extra, and makes some faces at the dinner table, it ends up making everybody else laugh more than anything, but their jokes at his expense make you laugh in turn. So, he technically didn't fail.

He's medically trained and can in fact help most injuries unless they're extremely fatal, like Jax's arms, and so most of them he can fix by simply walking to the infirmary and walking out a minute later, you with a bandaged injury.

Sonya Blade

Sonya is a bit annoyed that a literal child got a mark before her, but then she realises that means you'll need to fight in the tournament, and she proceeds to dedicate everything to training you.

Even if she's not technically allowed to train with you before she gets her mark, she does sneak out with you. While she understands it's not exactly her place, in the short time she's known you she's become attached, and she wants you to have every chance of survival.

As part of the special forces, she's an expert in all types of combat, and will almost definitely teach you how to kill, even if it weighs on her conscience that a child could have blood on their hands thanks to her.

Everybody already knows about this, but even Kung Lao decides to back off once he notices how much she cares for you.

Sonya will get violent with Kano the second he tries to mock or tease you, she won't go too far, but she's teaching him a lesson and she wanted an excuse for months to do so just let her have this one.

At dinner she's firm with your diet, making sure you eat more healthy options every time, which, makes everyone at the table laugh. She's not a complete control freak, she just understands that in situations like these what you're eating is very important.

She's not the best person to come to when you're injured, but not the worst, either, she's very calm unless it's a serious injury, and knows the basics of at least disinfecting the wound / putting pressure on it so it stops bleeding while she brings you to a medic in the Temple.

“IF YOU WANNA SCREAM” KUNG LAO X SPOILED!READER

SUMMARY : Kung Lao needs to help you unlock your arcana by any means necessary

WARNINGS : None

You honestly didn’t understand why you were here. You weren’t a powerful warrior. Not by any means. In fact you were a rich girl that had taken karate lessons when you were younger to the age seventeen. You didn’t believe you were skilled by any means but you were. And Kung Lao could see it.

The only reason you barred the dragon tattoo was because you killed a warrior with it and you were still in shock you overpowered him. You guessed the karate lessons did pay off.

Kano had awakened his arcana which annoyed you to no end since all he did was brag about it. It was everyone else’s turn to get it.

It was time for training. Kung Lao was supposed to be getting you ready for training. You just looked at your nails, completely uninterested of the whole ordeal.

“You ready?” He questioned you.

When he did, you looked at him. You gave him a hard look, up and down and then laughed as if what he had said was the funniest thing in the world. “I don’t do fighting. It makes me get all…dirty.”

Kung Lao had given you a “really” look. You shrugged and went back to looking at your nails. You then took your phone out of your pocket and sighed. “There is no cell reception in this place!”

Kung Lao smirked, having an idea. He looked over at Liu Kang. It was like Liu Kang could read his mind. He nodded to him. Kung Lao turned back to you. He grabbed your phone.

You gasped at the sudden action. Nobody touches your phone and you mean nobody. “Hey! Give it back!” You tried to reach it but he took a step back.

“Fight me for it or I break it.”

You scoffed, not believing him. “Yeah, whatever. Just give it, jackass.”

Kung Lao needed you to unlock your arcana. By any means necessary. So, he threw it at the wall, breaking it.

You blinked your eyes. You couldn’t believe he just did that.

“Oh boy…” Cole muttered, knowing how angry you would be.

“That was the newest IPhone you bitch!” You tried to punch Kung Lao but he ducked out the way. You then tried to kick him but he blocked that to.

You went to punch him in the gut but he pushed your hand away. Then he kicked you in the stomach, making you fall on your back.

You groaned in pain. “Aren’t you rich? Oh. Or did daddy not give you your weekly allowance?” Kung Lao taunted.

You growled. You stood up from the ground and charged at him. When you did, it knocked Kung Lao down to the ground. His hat got knocked off in the process.

Kung Lao and you struggled while you were on top of him. He then head butted you and threw you off of him.

You quickly got back up. The two of you went blow for blow again. You were mainly on offense while he was on defense. This continued for some time until you managed to land a kick on him at his legs.

Kung Lao fell to the ground on his knees. You then smacked him across the face, making him fall to the ground.

Before you had the chance to do anything, Kung Lao swept your feet, making you fall. He quickly got up and so did you.

Kung Lao kicked you in the stomach once again but you didn’t fall. What made you fall was the punch you received in the gut by him.

While you laid on the ground, he towered over you. He placed his foot on your chest and dug his heel in it, making you groan.

“Can’t beat me? That’s okay. I knew you couldn’t do it.”

Oh you were beyond pissed. You didn’t know how but something inside of you snapped. You screamed at him. Screamed. A scream so loud and high that it blew him back all the way across the area and made him hit the rock wall.

The others were covering their ears in pain from how high your scream was.

Kung Lao groaned in pain. You laid there shocked. Did you actually just do that? “What the…”

Kung Lao stood up from the ground. He smiled proud. “You did it.” He walked over to you and he held out his hand so you could get up.

You took his hand and he helped you stand up. “I have a powerful scream? Really?”

Kung Lao shrugged a little. “I think it suits you.”

Sonya, Cole, and Jax clapped for you. “Way to go, (Y/N)!” Sonya cheered.

Kano scoffed. “Mine’s cooler.”

Liu Kang ignored him and smiled proudly at you. “You did very good, (Y/N).”

Kung Lao swung his arm around you. He brought you in closer where you could feel his warmth and he whispered in your ear. “For the record, I knew you could do it.”

You smiled at him that he thought highly of you. You then clapped your hands together and looked at everyone. “Okay. Who’s going to pay for my broken phone now?”

Imagine: being one of the warriors chosen for Mortal Kombat and everyone thinking you are mute but Raiden knows your secret

You were sitting watching Liu Kang train Cole Young, you saw bursts of fire flying everywhere.

On the other side was Sonia, Kano and Kung Lao watching the training. They didn't let you train. They thought you were too weak to fight. That bothered you.

You heard footsteps coming from behind you. You turned around, seeing Raiden. You greeted him, giving him a smile that he reciprocated.

He turned to look at the others who were training until he gave a signal to Liu Kang to stop.

Kung lao: what happens

Raiden: It's y/n's turn.

Liu Kang: Are you sure?

He looked at you again to see if you agreed. You nodded as you stood up.

raiden: will fight with kung lao

You started walking towards the sand and saw Cole Young putting a hand on your shoulder.

Cole Young: Good luck.

He said as he left, you looked at him, you noticed how Kung Lao positioned himself to attack.

kung lao: calm down, i will be nice to you

You looked at him with a frown. You began to take in air to fill your lungs before he could attack. You began to scream, stunning everyone and sending them flying into the wall.

Sonia: What the hell?

kano: he doesn't have a voice that will make you die hahaha

You turned to see Raiden who had a proud smile on his face. I turn to see you. You sent him a blushing smile.

Warning: Cursing, there's a very big chunk Kano hate (I know I have some Kano fans and I just wanna say that I wrote this when I very first got into Mortal Kombat!! This was made way before I started liking him!!)

CG Liu Kang & Kung Lao w/ Regressor Cole (Fic)

"You think they'll improve?" Liu Kang asked, swinging his legs, keeping the fire in his hand steady. Kung Lao and him were sitting on the ledge, a light night hangout. The fire was their only main source of light with how dark it was. "I mean, in time to fight for the tournament?"

"They better! They're like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off," Kung Lao huffed. ". . . Kanos a bitch."

"Kung Lao! . . . Yeah, he is," Liu Kang quietly agreed. "He's so- So cocky!"

"But he was able to open his powers first," Kung Lao admitted. "I mean, with some personal help, but still. I just had to set him in his place!"

Liu Kang rolled his eyes, "You didn't set him in his place, you belittled him."

"Yeah, yeah, hey if I hadn't, we wouldn't have gotten helped unlocked his-"

There was a shuffle behind him. Both men quickly turned towards the sound, making the person squeak in the darkness. Cole quietly walked out, looking a bit nervous and guilty for being up so late. Not that there was a set bedtime, which was why Liu Kang and Kung Lao were hanging out. But all three boys really should be asleep.

"Cole? What are you doing up so late?" Liu Kang asked.

"Couldn't sleep," Cole shrugged, huddled up in his blanket.

Kung Lao motioned him over. Cole quickly waddled towards the fire, smiling happily as Liu Kang put it close, although not dangerously close, to him. It was cold at the temple, mostly at night. Cole was happy he thought to bring blankey- He meant, his blanket, along.

Right now was a terrible time to slip. His training wasn't improving, he wanted to go home, Kano was so mean at times. Everything was piling up, one on top of another! If he was going to slip, he thought late at night would be the best. When everyone was asleep and couldn't make fun or laugh at him. Or, everyone was supposed to be asleep.

"Come, sit with us," Liu Kang said, patting beside him. He grew the fire in his hands, sitting in between Cole and Kung Lao so all three could share the fire. "Did you wake up from a nightmare? Or just tossing and turning?"

"Tossin' an turnin'," Cole said, huddling against Liu Kang. Liu Kang didn't mind, his body temperature was warmer than others. "Whatcha talkin' about?"

"Psh, Kano," Kung Lao rolled his eyes, receiving a glare from Liu Kang. "I mean, we weren't not talking about Kano!"

"Just about the fact he unlocked his power," Liu Kang corrected him, he watched Cole deflate slightly. He looked almost like a kicked puppy. "I'm sure you'll unlock yours in time."

Kung Lao laughed, "Yeah, maybe I'll have to make you angry too! Man, his face was so funny when he got mad, he-"

"Lao," Liu Kang lectured, motioning to a sad Cole.

"I mean, in due time, Cole," Kung Lao smiled. "First you must improve to defeat us in a fight! You'll have a good chance after that."

Cole stayed pretty silent after that, but his mood seemed to improve as they went to other topics. He didn't want to talk about fighting while he was small, or, not about him fighting. He liked the stories Kung Lao began to tell, of ancient heros and his own battles. Which Liu Kang would roll his eyes to and claim he was exaggerating.

Although Kung Lao and Liu Kang noticed small things. His speech patterns weren't as they usually were. He mostly gave small words, or struggled with some pronunciation. He also called Liu Kang, Liu. And Kung Lao, Lao. They weren't new to the nicknames, since they called each such titles. But both boys also used the names when they were small. They didn't take Cole for a regressor, but it was a good guess.

"Whatcha staring at?" Kung Lao, sitting forward. Cole had been staring at him for some time. And if he didn't think it was a child stare, one that usually indicates they want something, he'd probably be questioning him.

"Hat," Cole pointed.

"Wanna touch it?" Kung Lao offered, unclipping his hat. He normally wouldn't let another person touch his hat, let alone someone regressed. But they were both supervising him, he couldn't get that hurt, right?

"Lao, he could hurt himself," Liu Kang lightly lectured. Cole deflated at the concern. Liu Kang was usually a sucker for puppy eyes. "Well- Okay, but we've gotta be really safe while holding it. It's really easy to cut yourself."

"He'll be safe, he has the Great Kung Lao helping him," Kung Lao rolled his eyes, moving and sitting at Cole's side, making the boy sit between them. "Here, let's hold it like this."

Cole awed at the hat, happily showing it to Liu Kang. He wasn't touching the sides, thankfully. Instead both his hands were under the hat, and Kung Lao kept a hand there too just in case. He didn't mean to act so childish around the two, he wanted to hide his regression from his friends. But neither of them looked at him funny. In fact, they seemed to encourage his playfulness.

"Wear it?" Cole asked, kicking his feet slightly. "Oh! Um, pease wear it?"

"Well you asked so nicely. . . Sure, want me to clip it on?" Kung Lao asked. Cole giggled happily, nodding quickly. "Alright, stay still you little monkey."

"I thought I was a monkey," Liu Kang laughed. Kung Lao was always great with regressors, more of the playful side. Liu Kang was also quite good at playtime, but he'd admit that Lao was always a bit. Although that might be biased from the amount of times they'd babysit each other.

"Eh, you're both monkeys," Kung Lao shrugged as he clipped the hat on Cole. "There! Now be careful where you turn your head, you could seriously hurt someone."

"Mhm," Cole nodded, seeming to try to be careful as he went to snuggle Liu Kang's arm.

"Woah woah! You can't hug my arm with the hat on," Liu Kang backed away slightly. "You might cut my neck, and that wouldn't be fun."

"Lao does," Cole pouted, holding onto Liu Kang's arm still. Although trying to keep the hat away from him.

"Well, Lao's been training with the hat for years," Liu Kang tried to convince him. "Plus you're too little to be wearing to anyhow. We really should have put the rubber protection on it."

"Noooo!" Kung Lao whined. "I hate that thing!"

"It's safer around regressors, Lao," Liu Kang shook his head. "Seriously, you act like such a child some times."

". . . More than Kano?" Kung Lao joked, causing both boys to laugh.

Cole tensed at Liu Kang's words. They knew? They both knew? No, they weren't supposed to know! No one was supposed to see him little. What if they told Raiden? He didn't really want to be here anyways, he missed his wife and daughter. But he wanted to prove that he was supposed to be here. What if they told Kano? He'd never let it go! And he'd be so mean and rude and call him name and-

"Too little?" Cole frowned. "I- I dunno what you mean. I'm not little, I'm very big- I mean-"

"Hey, we get it," Kung Lao lightly shook Cole's shoulder. "You're a very big boy, you're wearing that hat. Little ones shouldn't be wearing something so dangerous."

"Except you," Liu Kang teased.

"I won't share my food with you tomorrow," Kung Lao threatened, causing Liu Kang to eye roll. "It's getting pretty late, don't you think? Should we head in for the night?"

"It's not that late," Liu Kang frowned. Kung Lao motioned to Cole, and he quickly got the hint. "Actually, we do have a full day of training tomorrow."

"Don't pout so much, we'll tuck you in," Liu Kang offered, grabbing Cole's hand with the one that wasn't producing fire.

"Don't need to be tucked in," Cole huffed. Kung Lao laughed and grabbed Cole's other hand.

"Sure, sure, let's get you tucked in for sleepy time," he said. Cole grumbled, but let the two lead him back to the sleeping corners.

Cole didn't like Kano's snoring. Or how Sonya woke up as they passed by, only to grumble and fall back asleep when she noticed it was them.

But he did like how gentle Liu Kang and Kung Lao were. They knew, they so knew. But they were being very nice.

Kung Lao took his hat back, much to Cole's complaint. Kang Lao tucked him in. Liu Kang tried to help, but there was only so much he could do with one hand. He didn't want to burn Cole by accident. Cole felt incredibly sleepy, drowsy hitting him as he was tucked in.

"Ni ni, Lao," Cole yawned. "Ni ni, Liu."

"Sleep well," Liu Kang kissed his thumb, pressing it to Cole's forehead. Cole giggled at the action, looking at Kung Lao expectedly.

"Night Cole," Kung Lao smiled, repeating Liu Kang's action. "We'll see you in the morning, okay?"

Mhm," Cole hummed sleepily, struggling to keep awake.

Liu Kang and Kung Lao slowly, and quietly, left the room. The three would have much to speak about tomorrow.

"You think he's gonna cry?" Liu Kang frowned as they walked to their sleeping cordors.

"You cried when I found out," Kung Lao gently nudged him.

"I'll burn you!" Liu Kang threatened.

Both boys glared at each other before bursting into laughter.

The morning would be a fun conversation.

Don't like this one very much, but it's been in my drafts for a super, super long time (I wrote it before the Regressor Mileena w/ CG Tanya one but hated it so I put it in a file I never looked at).

I like the 2021 Movie though, it's pretty cool. So why not publish it? :3

FINALLY WATCHED MK 2021

So a few things

I did not cry. Im sry but it was prolly the pacing of the movie cuz it was a little too fast, or because my brother’s asleep and it’s 2am and i’m not supposed to be loud, but i did not cry (uuu internally i did but im sad that i didnt cry). However i did feel hyped especially at the ending :D

LIU KANG RAGGHHH HE’S SO FUCKEN BABEY. I LOVE HIM. I WANNA RUFFLE HIS HAIR AND SQUEEZ HIS CHEEKS URHRHHRHGGG. HE DESERVES ALL THE HUGS IN THE WORLD‼️‼️

The shaolin boiss!! Love them. Kung Lao really said “skill issue” 😭😭 i’m just gonna casually steal that. Liu joining in was the icing on the cake

there’s a next movie coming if i remember correctly? Anyway, i’m looking forward to that as well ueueueu

Love how Kano’s portrayed here. His banter with the others was funny for a while but as the movie progressed, I got a little too immersed and the second hand embarrassment kicked in 😭

I love the idea that Cole’s just standing there while Hanzo’s talking to him in Japanese like “yeah i totally got that (did not understand a single word he said).” It doesn’t really mention that he can understand it soo yep

I FINALLY GET WHAT ONE OF THE REBLOGS ON THE GRASSHOPPER POST WHEN THEY SAID SOMETHING LIKE “(in tears remembering mk21)” THE FUCKING HEADBAND RAHH

Can Kung Lao be brought back as a revenant, pls? I’m under the impression that Bi-han will come back as Noob Saibot, so if that can happen but Revenant Kung Lao can’t, I’m gone

Overall, a solid 9/10 for me. Minus 1 because of the pacing. Again, I’m looking forward to the next :0

[2021 Mortal Kombat Movie AU]

I think Shang Tsung granted Bi-Han his immortality after he killed Hanzo & the Shirai Ryu, so this time Bi-Han adds one more thing to their agreement: his brother will also become immortal. (Kuai Liang is probably the only thing he feels something for)

He wants Kuai to fight beside him, but Kuai can't bear to see what his brother has become in action so Bi-Han convinces Shang Tsung to let him go and live his life, even if he's not happy about it. Bi-Han is capable and vicious enough to do whatever the sorcerer asks of him on his own.

So Kuai spends centuries in different countries, doing different jobs, eventually settling down somewhere in America. Maybe he owns a farm, lol. Living in a remote location would help him go unnoticed on how he's not aging. All the while, Bi-Han keeps an eye on him from afar, getting rid of people who get too close to blowing Kuai's cover, not that he knows about it.

Anyway, after Cole escapes Bi-Han for the first time, Shang Tsung decides to play dirty and has Bi-Han bring Kuai Liang into the fold. He glamors a kombatant mark onto Kuai and has him run into Sonya while "escaping" Bi-Han. He joins her, Cole and Kano from there on. He strikes up a friendship with Sonya, but it's Cole he really hits it off with. Kuai was already doubting his mission but it's getting worse every moment.

They do the whole arcana thing, and the defenders are kind of put off when he "unlocks" his ice powers, but he's nothing like the creeping menace Bi-Han is so they write it off.

Kuai does his best to support Cole as he tries and fails to unlock his. Having lived so long without regular human contact, Kuai can come off as a bit intense, but he makes up for it with how earnest and genuine he is. (Cole might be starting to doubt his sexuality, a little.)

Kano still betrays the team but he runs into Kuai when he's about to destroy the relic that keeps up the force field. Kuai has a change of heart and attempts to stop Kano, but they destroy the relic anyways during their fight. Kano gives Kuai "a chance", to keep what happened to himself as long as he won't get in Kano's way again. Afraid of what the sorcerer will do, Kuai goes with Kano. He stands by Bi-Han's side before the defenders, to the tune of betrayed shouts. Sonya seems angriest while Cole is just disappointed.

The next time he's seen again is in the final scene with Bi-Han. Allison and Emily are still frozen, but the reason they aren't completely encased in a block of ice like Bi-Han might've done by himself is Kuai's coaxing. They can still be saved by design.

Hanzo's appearance was a bit funny imo, so I'd turn that into just him "possessing" Cole to a degree, or enhancing his abilities/guiding him like Sento does for Kenshi. Even with all that, Bi-Han gets Cole into a "say your last words" position. So Cole does a bit of a BotR speech that finally gives Kuai the push he needs and he turns on Bi-Han. He freezes Bi-Han solid but has to keep at it lest Bi-Han break free. He tells Cole to tend to his family, and that he'll deal with Bi-Han.

The defenders arrive, thaw Allison and Emily and get out of there, reluctantly leaving Kuai behind. The rest goes as normal.

After Shang Tsung is defeated, Bi-Han and Kuai go missing. The good ending is the brothers' lifespans becoming normal in the absence of Shang Tsung (if they were 30 they still have like 40 years to live), and Kuai taking steps to rehabilitate Bi-Han. Maybe his path crosses with Cole again, someday.

The sad ending is the brothers perishing immediately without Shang Tsung's magic, lol

(I wanted to make Kuai the Kitana to Cole's Lui Kang but the plot had a mind of its own, lol)
