My point is, I fell in love with Petey the science-nerd who lived with his aunt! Spidey-the-dashing-hero was an unexpected bonus!

From Spidey Super Stories #51, from the series that already gave us quotes like: “Can the corn Peter, women can be super too! The cat is just as good as Spider-Man.” and “Here is one woman who is awake and ready to march!”  Is Spidey Super Stories is the most feminist Spider-Man series of all time or what?!

The above panels are from Amazing Spider-Man #519. For those who need it, the context is that the Parkers’ homes have been burned down by a supervillain. As such Peter Parker’s wife, Mary Jane, is comforting him.
Why is this relevant to Sailor Moon?
Well, it is a little abstract I admit, but bear with me.
See, I’ve written in the past about how Usagi ultimately fell in love with Mamoru because of his protective tendencies towards her.
But of course, this raises the question of why Usagi would find such a trait attractive at all?
The simply answer is that she happens to be someone who does. Alternatively, I’ve put forward that in her mind being protective of her is a positively coded trait owing to her best friends (the Sailor Senshi) being her bodyguards.
And afterall, in the first season at least the far less experienced and reluctant Usagi would probably have found Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru’s protective actions towards her most appreciative.
But this raises the question of why someone who eventually became so capable and powerful as Usagi did, would still find Mamoru helping her out attractive. Afterall, she is grossly more powerful than him so there is an argument to be made that she doesn’t strictly speaking need  him to do that for her. If anything, Sailor Stars proved that since he took a hiatus for most of that season.
Well, this is where those Spidey panels come into play.
To give you a little more context for Spider-Man, Peter Parker has what can only be described as a superhuman willpower (it’s literally listed as one of his skills/abilities on the marvel.wiki). He’s had to essentially support his family since he was fifteen whilst also learning how to be a superhero and deal with mistreatment in and out of his costume.
So, we could equally argue he doesn’t strictly speaking need help when it comes to being strong for his family.
However, what the above panels point out (and what I think applies to Usagi and Mamoru) is that even if someone is capable, someone else wanting to relieve their immense burden even a little bit can be incredibly appreciated. And, as we see above, engender romantic feelings.

I’m tired of people claiming this moment was sexist.
Let’s talk about it.
Yeah sure, it’s probably channelling an element of the ‘last girl standing’ trope from horror movies.
But we need to put some stuff into context.
To begin with Michelinie was very deliberate in stating that Venom never even touched Mary Jane. Were this honestly a sexist work (like Identity Crisis) MJ would’ve been at least physically assaulted.
Did the story imperil and terrify MJ, use her as a victim to build up the threat?
Yes. But first of all, Worf from Star Trek: TNG is the poster child for this sort of trope. He was regularly humiliated in order to convey how formidable the threat of the episode was.
In ASM #300, MJ is simply a non-physical version of that. This is confirmed when Peter even says MJ is one of the strongest people he knows and therefore the new threat must be a big deal; see the final panel above.
Additionally, we should consider that MJ’s fear and ‘victimization’ greatly diminishes across consequent Venom appearances. Whilst she cannot return to Peter’s Chelsea apartment and wants him to remove his black costume, she isn’t a crying or quaking as she was at the start of the issue.
In ASM #316, whilst seeing Venom again upsets her and even prompts her to act somewhat childishly, she is again not crying over it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Sub-City arc of No Adj, MJ is unhappy about Peter wearing the black costume again, but is clearly not scared or on the verge of tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the ASM #346 Venom story she argues against Peter’s insistence that she leave town when Venom returns again.
Tumblr media
In Maximum Carnage she is very unhappy about Venom being in her home but she is not scared or crying, more angry.
Tumblr media
In Spider-Man: The Venom Agenda #1 she attempts to blind Venom in order to save Peter. She was unafraid during the story and is left unfazed by the end of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In ‘Back in Black’ MJ is equally unfazed by Peter wearing his black costume again. He is even sporting it in one of their most emotionally intimate moments together in Sensational Annual 2007.
Tumblr media
Most of all however the treatment of MJ here is justified considering everyone is scared of Venom; even Spider-Man himself!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hell, Peter was afraid of the symbiote even before it became Venom, having a nightmare about it in Spec #100.
Tumblr media
And after tricking Venom into believing he was dead, Spider-Man was somewhat disturbed and even traumatized by his experience.
Tumblr media
Given the nature of Venom I mean…is it really unbelievable for MJ to react the way she did?
In fact given her lifestyle with a superhero the idea of something like this NEVER happening would’ve been unrealistic at best, a waste of potential drama (which is the whole point of storytelling) at worst.

Here’s the thing about Spider-Man. Everyone knows about the responsibility thing. But they don’t realize he thinks everything is his responsibility. And no one has enough great power to deal with that. No matter what’s happening in his life, he still worries about everyone else. He still puts other people’s needs ahead of his own. It’s just who he is. Spider-Man is Peter Parker. And Peter Parker is my responsibility. Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2019) #11

Peter Parker eats pussy, it’s canon!
So now that I got your attention with that headline, reason fandom discourse makes me feel that it’s a good time to remind everyone that Peter Parker absolutely and enthusiastically will go down on May Jane!
Tumblr media
So in conclusion, not only will Peter gladly go down on Mary Jane and eat her out until she comes but he will keep going until she orgasms a second time. (Or why stop there, we all know that Peter will just keep going until Mary Jane has had enough and tells him to stop.)
