im going to say it… lin manuel miranda is a well trained actor and is actually eating hermes up a little bit… y’all just need to let go of your thirteen year old self who was cringe about hamilton…. do not let your anger be misdirected towards an artist that lost control of his creation…

Hc that Hermes created the Lin Manuel persona as a joke but Hamilton was wildly successful so he just kept it up and Apollo is FURIOUS that a) he’s overstepped into his domain and b) he’s so damn GOOD at it (much to the chagrin of literally everyone)
It’s like the dam cow thing all over again, but this time instead of stealing fifty of his cows Hermes stole his bit.

showing us from the start- from the very fucking beginning- that hermes KNOWS that he’s a shit father, KNOWS that he fucked up with luke, KNOWS that none of it is fair- is goddamn cruel, and the writers fucking know it.
because here’s the thing, right? hermes knows all of this shit, acknowledges that it isn’t fair, even says that the other gods know it isn’t fair- and yet they all dismiss it because that’s parenting. they know they’ve royally screwed the system, oh yes, but that’s just life, you know? what can you do? they’re all-powerful beings- but feelings and mortals are hard, bro, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t make them see things the way you see them. hermes made a mistake, a HUGE one, and when confronted, he offers nothing but excuses. because that’s what the gods are. immortal, unbreakable beings, who, in their moment of failure, ignore it.
that’s not a casual character flaw, that’s rick waving a red flag under our noses and calling it a mild foretelling.
and you know what the real kicker is?
hermes told percy and annabeth this because he thought they were going to forget. he couldn’t even own up to his own actions under anything but false pretenses.
the gods, people.

lin-manuel miranda was honestly an amazing choice to play hermes because hermes is literally everywhere. my man's statue is on buildings, his winged shoes are used as logos, the caduceus is used as a symbol everywhere. we drove past a random building the other day and a statue of hermes was just chilling on the top. and you know who else is literally everywhere?
lin-manuel fucking miranda.

Did anyone else see Lin Manuel Miranda on screen as Hermes and just call him Lin Manuel Miranda in their heads.
Like yeah Lin Manuel Miranda is a delivery god who spends all of his time in a casino and exists out of time and space idk who is Hermes tho seems like a rip off.
