Death Note in a Marching Band‼️

Ik I already did death note and instruments but THIS IS DIFFERENT. I present this to you in honor of football season

Light - insists on being first trumpet. Probably joined later and then quit after two years to pursue murder law school. Literally a marching beast but probably runs out of steam a bit faster than others bc he doesn't really do lengthy periods of physical activity

L - I want to make him sousaphone bc he's already got back issues and it can't get any worse, but he'd probably suck at marching. Maybe he'd be a good drum major after playing mallets the first couple years. When he played mallets he'd definitely flex by holding four at once, even if he didn't need all of them

Near - tambourine or triangle. The essentials

Misa - color guard!!! She prefers swing flags over any other equipment, and loves the outfits. Takada tried to get her to play flute so she could show she's better than Misa but Misa thinks the regular band uniforms are ugly af.

Takada - flute. Idrk why

Mello - the most aggressive snare of all time. He played bass drum first and then switched to snare. He likes quints too but snare is probably his favorite because hitty thingy make loud noise hurt ears. He's got the best posture in the entirety of the band too, but he likes to speed up, which can be annoying when he's the one ticking while the band marks time.

Matt: also pit because he didn't feel like marching but still joined because Mello. Probably switches between concert bass drum, gong, and timpanis when necessary.

Mikami: clarinet (I am totally not biased). Also assistant drum major, but he's a lot stiffer than the aforementioned drum major.

I'm so sorry for leaving out the entire sax and low brass family but idk who would play that. I love you all I swear

NO Cause imagine Gevanni struggling to hold his own against enemy agents, low on ammo and covered in blood while hiding behind a concrete barrier. If he has to go out fighting, then so be it. As he prepares to do suicide charge right into the enemy, the unmistakable sound of a gunshot from far away makes him freeze on the spot.

For a split second he wonders if they gathered reinforcements, but when he sees the enemies drop one by one and struggle to find the hidden shooter, he takes this opportunity to eliminate the last few.

When the last survivor is eliminated, Gevanni hears the sound of a grappling hook from above and the thud of someone landing on the pavement.

He turns around and Mikami is standing there.

“You think I’d let you do this on your own?” He says, a soft but serious smile on his face.

Fics I remember killed me on sight

This is how I disappear. (gen) 10/10, work of art, made me sit at the edge of my seat. I recommend everything from this author, definitely DO MIND the tags though! it's dark

If you're into AUs and Lawlight, here's one where Light runs for presidency (Those who stand for nothing fall for anything) and one where he's a cryptid investigator (The forest holds strange creatures), they're both awesome in unique ways. Both are explicit, take that into account

If you're interested in reading different interactions and a very unique twist to the canon events where Naomi is the protagonist, Silent Partner, Unifinished Business is amazing and very suspensey

This one is long, immense, ultra suspensey, with a lot of different characters interacting in interesting ways I never thought before, very lawlight and very explicit, (but I read it all in like 3 days because it caught me BAD and was foaming at the mouth during the entire course of it), also was the founding inspiration to my BB brainrot and design-> Nights

I also made a masterpost of all my favourite meronia (melloxnear) fics back when I was balls deep into it

Finally, my AWESOME friends have made abbie x my BB fics for me back in the days which I treasure with my heart, I feel a bit schoopid sharing them because they're basically my OCs and their story remains a secret but they're beautifully written and. I die. I die everytime I remember they did these for me -> First Christmas (explicit), Stand under my Umbrella (short n funny), Just Another Day (sad and short, based on a comic I did years ago)

ANd also, same author as Silent Partner, wrote Dead Letter Office as a gift to me once, and it melted me into a sugary puddle in the ground

Characters and music

Like every other BB kinnie / stan I have my fair share of associated songs, mostly by style and delusion and very few by actual fitting lyrics lol. But here's what I consider his theme song - and also, I headcanon HARD that he has Danny Elfman's voice

How I feel about L and Mikami

L is special to all of us, love the guy, haven't met a single DN fan who doesn't like L. He's just fun and unapologetic which is what I like about him the most.

Mikami I have a hard time caring about, he's just not my usual type of character at all. He's too rigid for me, although he has his unintentional funny side. I also felt he had no chemistry with any other characters, so that made him less interesting for me

Favourite day and week day

Honestly, it's why I'm relieved that the new timeline is taking a different direction. OG Leon was fucked up, they completely ruined his character, in a way that came across as "nobody at our writers table can agree on what he's like". He declares/shows his belief in something. Self sabotages and does something hypocritical. It doesn't get mentioned again. The cycle continues. You can't complain because Cool Action Hero. I want to like OG Leon and Ada but like... it's really fucking hard to, even outside of Aeon, lmao. The arc is hot garbage with too many plotholes. I genuinely regard Aeon as some of the worst writing in RE history and boy that's a HEAVY statement.

It's not just them though. Chris has had so many iffy stories too... I'll never get over the fucking amnesia thing. It was so stupid imo. Alex was a thing that like... succeeds in her plans but never gets mentioned again. Revelations 1... well... happened. I do enjoy the games. I've had RE brainrot for MONTHS now, but sweet jesus there's so much that annoys me (cough the RAGING racism in RE5, original Ashley and Jessica being more sexist than even Ada, RE6 story deserving to be dumped entirely, Jake the superpowered secret son who just up and left, Sherry being underwhelming). Anyway... love your blog. To stay on topic, god I hope remakes continue keeping Leon consistent and actually making sense! lol

He is an incredible character with a great story at his core, but seeing him immediately being reduced to a total moron that can't keep his opinions or goals straight at the sight of someone he doesn't know? Ruins him. Completely ruins everything he could be. Capcom, fix it.

You really touched on the issue with RE in general: it's been passed through so many dev teams and writing teams, all of whom have had their different visions and interpretations of the canon and the characters, that nothing feels coherent. Because it isn't.

I could write a fucking dissertation on what Mikami's departure from Capcom actually did to RE as a series tbh -- because THAT is ultimately what ruined RE's consistency. RE was Mikami's baby, and he oversaw all of it... until RE0 and REmake flopped and Capcom was ready to pull the plug on the series and then also refused to let him develop RE4 on the PS2 and that was kind of the beginning of the end.

Because RE0 -> RE1 -> RE2 -> RE3 -> Code Veronica is actually VERY VERY coherent. It's stupid and filled with 90s-era writing and dialogue, but it's consistent and logical and makes sense.

But with RE4 being developed under extreme duress and then becoming an overwhelming cultural phenomenon despite that -- but then losing Shinji Mikami's vision and direction almost immediately after launch? Led to Capcom just trying to replicate RE4's success for the better part of a decade, throwing as much shit against the wall re: Leon's character as they could to try to recapture that.

This is why the Remake series is so important. This is Capcom's opportunity to restructure the series under a unified vision again, because it hasn't had one since about 2006.

Heyyy Meiri! I know you're v into Patho rn (and many thanks for passing that brainrot along to me, I love it), but what would you say to someone who wants to start The Evil Within series? <- It's me. I want to start The Evil Within series.

i'd say Teehee Giggle (evilly) honestly! There's not much I can/want to tell you about it: it's very much like. Way More Approachable than Patho and draws way more on Mainstream inspiration and mechanisms than it. It's a good-hearted survival horror game that very much tried to get back to the #sources. The first one was directed by Shinji Mikami (he also worked on the second one but he wasn't director) so there are the very much like #bases of good ole survivor horror. It very much draws on the early REs & you'll see more of it as you play. It's kinda like.... they tried to make RE & SH have a baby & it came out kinda deformed. but we love her regardless ❤️️

some people prefer TEW2, i'd say it's prettier at the very least.

honestly go for it for real, it's approachable, fun, and not too #deep yet not too shallow. It's a perfectly acceptable little set of games that you might or might not get #silly over like i did. If nothing else it's a good time! go forth! i recommend it :3

also there are still loose ends at the end of TEW2 but like. we been waiting for TEW3 for like 5 yrs at this point. whenever they want!!!

I remember when I was watching the anime for the first time, rambling to my sister about it, and basically spoiling the whole show for her. Then, I entered my ongoing Mikami brainrot, and she had no idea who he is so I had a lot of explaining to do. We had...interesting conversations but my favorite so far was this;

Her: "So, again...why did Light lose at the end?"

Me (tired, and has given up all the hope at this point): ...Mikami.

Her: He fucked up the whole plan? Wait, I'm gonna love this guy.

She is now also obsessed with him, I was successful.
