so indications suggest that Legends Z-A is taking place in the late 19th century, coinciding with the redevelopment of Paris (as our sole hint to the plot of the game), and about a decade out of when Legends Arceus happened

so one question is what's our starter line-up gonna look like? and will mega evolutions factor in? cos one route they could take is that these starters don't have regional variant evolutions, but instead get one of the new mega evos (Charizard is definitely getting a Z, that's a given). but another route is they get regional variants that don't have a mega evo while other starter Pokémon (like the XY starters) do. alternatively, they get both regional forms and mega evolution, with the regional form being the explanation that mega isn't seen in the modern era as much

#Pokémon #obviously Mega Charizard Z is happening that only makes sense #Mega Mewtwo Z probably not unless Mewtwo is also displaced into the past #that or they have a Mew as one of the available event Pokémon and finally give it a Mega #which I'm hoping for now

DBZ fans like 'Gohan and Piccolo didn't earn their new forms' ignoring their struggles and solid characters. Meanwhile, Pokemon fans cheering every time the Charizard line gets a new special gimmick form just for being the most popular playground meta in the 90s because 'cool fire lizard'. It needed a Mega Evolution just to be an actual Dragon-type.

Ok so with pokemon legends Z-A being announced im excited (but dont want to get my hopes too high) but one thing im not thrilled about is the return of mega evolutions.

Now i was not a big fan of how the idea was executed, like giving megas to pokemon that did not need them, whether they were already powerful enough (legendary's, psuedo legends, pretty much any pokemon with a BST over 500) or to pokemon who didn't need the extra attention (Charizard, Mewtwo, the gen 1 starters, lucario, Charizard) and a lot of the mega designs weren't really my thing, most are just "make the original design more complicated, add more spikes, just make it bigger" which if thats your cup of tea then more power to you but personally im not a fan.

Idk maybe they'll add new megas that don't fall into any of my complaints and ill end up actually liking mega evolution this time.

Or they could just mega charizard Z and call it a day.
