not to spoil important scenes (tbh everyone who's read I'll Love You If You Let Me up to now knows what's going to happen anyway) but I wanna share my favorite disgustingly sweet bits of what I wrote today, 18+ bits removed for the most part cause that I won't spoil.
Oh yeah there's gonna be a nice resolution to "Kagi-sama" in a way, this last chapter
Important influential lyrics for reference, as well - I'm almost entirely working off this opening phrase to Morphine by Lights:
I had my first good dream
Now that you're haunting me
Here in between the sheets
Right where our two worlds meet
And the chorus:
We end up on the floor
You set my head free
I want you more and more
Don't wanna get clean
You're like morphine
Anyway, on with it. Sickeningly mushy kagihira romance snippets below the cut
__________________________________
“Your bed or mine?” Hirano asked. “Birthday boy's choice tonight.”
Kagi looked back, his eyes flickering between the two beds even though he already knew his preference.
“Yours. I like being surrounded by you.”
Hirano groaned but not exactly in the way Kagi wanted him to. “God, you're so cheesy.”
Kagi snorted. “Yeah, but you love it,” he said, taking the hand in front of him and allowing himself to be pulled to his feet.
“Lucky for you.”
Kagi wrapped his arms around the shorter boy's waist to bring him closer for a gentle kiss. “Yeah, lucky me.”
____
“What's wrong?” He tilted his head in confusion when Kagi hung back, hesitant to climb into the bed.
Standing at the head of the bed, Kagi looked down at him with fascination. He was too starstruck by the radiant elegance of his body, which was perfectly enhanced by the illumination provided by the streetlight shining in the window. His hair faintly reflected the light in the shape of a halo, as it so often did whenever he stood in the light.
Kagi wouldn't go so far as to call him an angel, but if the shoe fits...
Okay, yeah, maybe he would. His angel.
“Sometimes it's just hard to believe you're mine,” he finally said with teary eyes, not born out of insecurity but out of overwhelming happiness.
“Well, you should start believing it because you're stuck with me now,” Hirano laughed.
____
“I love you,” Kagi withdrew from the kiss just to whisper those three heartfelt words. Unable to contain his feelings, he repeated them over and over like a mantra in between kisses as he worshipped Hirano's upper body with his mouth.
Hirano answered with his eyes instead of his words when Kagi glanced up at him. Deep ocean blue irises invited him into his heart as he looked at him through half-lidded eyes that swept Kagi away in an undercurrent he couldn't resist. Hirano gave a gentle squeeze of his hand and grabbed him by the chin to kiss him firmly, not allowing Kagi to pull away from the long kiss - a wordless confession that left Kagi breathless once he broke away. He trailed his fingertips over his bare chest, down his abs to trace the definition of Kagi's muscles again before he caressed the sides of the basketball player's lean torso, making him jump a little.
“Sorry, I forgot you're ticklish there,” he said with a small laugh.
“No you're not. You did that on purpose, Taiga-san. You like to tease me too much,” Kagi leaned back to look at him with a petulant expression, his cheeks puffing as he pouted.
“Only a little,” Hirano chuckled.
____
“Taiga-san, you're sure you're okay with this? You're not just doing this for me, right?” he said apprehensively, his eyebrows knitted together and the corners of his mouth turned downward with concern. He felt guilty questioning his intentions when Hirano was doing something nice for him, but it was for his own peace of mind and genuine care for Hirano's feelings that he needed to make absolute sure Hirano wasn't forcing himself to do something he didn't want to.
“Can't it be both?” Hirano asked. He brought one hand up to rest on the back of Kagi's neck and the other up to cup his face, gently rubbing his thumb over the his cheek before threading his fingers in his hair to brush his it back away from his face.
Kagi nuzzled his head into his hand and turned to kiss his wrist gently. “I just want to make sure you aren't forcing yourself,” he said.
“Idiot, I wouldn't do it if I didn't want to.” Hirano retracted the hand petting his hair to pinch his cheek briefly, and Kagi let out a little yelp in protest. “Is it really so hard to believe I both want you and want to make you happy?”
____
Kagi pushed back Hirano's sweat-drenched hair from his face to press their foreheads together while he caught his breath. He peppered sweet kisses of gratitude over his face, landing back on his lips to press together in a long, unhurried kiss. He didn't care about the mess still covering Hirano's middle when he laid his upper body on him, pressing his ear to his sternum to listen his heart racing. It drummed against his ribcage with a rapid cadence that only ever happened under Kagi's influence - something that made the brunette proud. Hirano responded in kind by putting his hand to Kagi's heart, rubbing small circles over his chest as they communicated solely through the sounds of the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the central muscle responsible for their very lives.
Lives that belonged solely to each other.

temptation tuesday
rules: share something about an idea you have/something that's speaking to you/an au you'd like to see and are considering writing/etc. etc. Basically anything that is tempting you away from your current wips!
Thank you for the tag @just-slightly-chayotic and @viva-yas-vegas
since I got tagged twice I guess I'll share two tidbits? I currently have four-ish chaptered fics I'm rolling around in my brain. What to share~? What to share~?
I'm putting this under a cut because it got quite long lol fic below!
Okay so my second or third most developed one is probably my KimChay mermaid AU?
So for the mermaids, it started off as a branch idea from another AU I'm working on with Tea. They have also been my muse for this one, which is going to have some Little Mermaid vibes (Kim is nosy in every universe) but with some fun twists. I have some snippets written for this one already!
Sound travels differently on the surface. In the water, his songs are close, intimate. The sound doesn't travel as far, but it's rounder, a bubble of music.
On the surface, sound is sharper, it travels farther, straight across the air like a thrown spear. Kim can't decide which is better. Some of the songs his mother used to sing sound better above the waves, so he finds the closest abandoned beach to sing.
But one day, he's swimming to shore when dulled notes drift over his ears through the water. It's not singing, it sounds like one of those many-stringed instruments humans bring on fishing boats.
Kim hovers in the water, indecisive. The sound's coming from above the waves, close to where he was going to perch for the evening. Kim should turn around. That's what his brothers would say. He hasn't listened to them in years.
Kim makes his way inland, belly close to the sand, making sure the powerful beats of his tail don't make waves in the calm evening surf. He's maybe 5 meters from the small beach, when the first hummed notes of a song filter through the water to him. He needs to surface, he needs to hear it. Coming up behind a convenient jut of rocks, Kim's ears finally hear that clean air-sound.
It's beautiful. The singer is clearly young, their notes hesitant, but warm. Kim can't help himself. As he pulls the bulk of his torso on a flat part of the outcropping, he begins to harmonize under his breath. It's as easy as swimming, singing with this boy. And the human's a boy, he can see that now. He misses a few notes when he sees him. He's odd-looking. Humans usually are. Their two legs make them appear shorter than merfolk, and their skin is soft all over, like a hatchling's nascent scales.
But there is something about this one that gives Kim pause. Maybe it's his voice. Maybe it's the way his fingers cleverly find the next chord to play. Maybe it's the glowing golden of his tan skin.
No.
It's those eyes, Kim thinks, as they meet his. It'd almost be comical, how round they become, if not for how the setting sun has turned those driftwood eyes a deep sea-glass amber.
Kim has slipped off his perch and is streaming back into deep water before he realizes.
Oh, he's beautiful.
He wants to sing with him again.
Boom. mermaids. I have some fun world building I'm working on for that :)
Alright and another one for ya! I'm not gonna go into too much detail on the premise of this one, but the Clown Car, y'all know. I haven't written anything for this AU yet, but it's my baby. My child, my most unhinged of thought spirals. My clowns have been subjected to it, there's a playlist already, I have yelled about the world building and I have tortured friends with all the potential angst, but I have not put any thoughts to word.
So, now you're gonna get my first snippet.
The first thing that hits Chay, when the smell of burning oil stops singeing his nose hairs, is how green it all is. He’s not really surprised, he saw Earth from the portholes aboard Orpheus every day. Logically, he knows there were still swaths of green speckling the planet, but seeing it is another beast altogether. For one, it’s greener. Whatever had happened, whatever they avoided all those years in orbit, it had at least done some good for the local flora.
A shout from behind him drags Chay out of his trance. The spacecraft he called home for three years, The Orpheus, lay in a hulking mass of twisted metal and black smoke, the smell of exhaust still hung heavy in the air. Most of the crew had managed to crawl their way out of the smoldering remains, tarnishing their white landing suits with dirt stains and holes, but Bank has a leg pinned under what used to be the support strut between two habitation pods. It now resembled something like a melted twizzler.
The shouting had come from Ice, calling the other crew to help fish Bank out of the wreckage. Chay turns to move toward her, but is caught, enraptured by a streak of color in his periphery. A flower. It’s a stark orange, with five petals curling outward invitingly, its pistil and anthers long and the same color as the petals. Some kind of rhododendron, Chay thinks. He hasn’t seen a flower in the wild since he was a child.
More noises echo through the crew behind him, but Chay can’t pay them any mind. A flower. A flower, growing right there out of the dirt with no greenhouse, no fertilizer, exchanging gas with the Earth’s atmosphere. And it’s blooming, He traces a fingertip reverently over a petal. He’s almost sure his fingers will pass right through it, but they don’t. Its petals are soft and slightly warmed by the afternoon sunlight streaming through the forest canopy. It’s real.
The murmuring behind Chay grows pointed and excited, before Song calls his name in a whisper shout. Chay turns around to see the crew, standing hushed and quiet. They look like they’ve paused in the middle of what they were doing, and are staring off somewhere into the brush behind the wreck of the Orph. Chay leaves his flower with one last caress, and walks parallel to the wreck so he can get an angle on what’s caught everyone’s attention and then–
There. In a gap between two wild, untrimmed bushes stands a doe. If wild plants were rare then wild animals– well.
She stands, ears and nose twitching as she stares down the eight of them. Chay remembers Porsche telling him once about a deer he and Mom saw when they were camping. In those days, the outdoors were more livable, he’d say. The deer had been a stag, young with short antlers. They had come across it while hiking a short trail, and it had skipped away in its hopping gait before Porsche could get close. Now, Chay waits for the doe to realize what they are and bolt. Her nose twitches one more time, and she takes a step forward.
And then the doe charges.
heheheee
So. That's what's tumbling in my brain right now. I don't know when I'll write it bc I have a lot of world building to do and lots of different ideas for plot points. Basically it's gonna be novel length and i'm dreading it :')
okay so that's it for me, idk who all's been tagged so i'm just gonna throw my seeds to the wind. @shubaka @fuckyeah-itme uhhhhhhhh yep idk. anyone else who sees this and wants to do it! Have fun!

More voice claims, and more characters this time around
I was gonna try to do all my Olivia characters I have so far, but a handful of them were proving difficult to figure out, so I decided to go with what I already had. If I can figure out the rest, I'll have a part two for this one.
Voice notes under the cut, copy-pasted from the video link:
(sorry if some are a lot shorter than the others, I have more to say about some of them than the rest... just know I stand by my choices for the most part lol)
Olivia Wolfgang - Tara Strong (Unikitty - UniKitty!): This was another one that in my mind was "specific yet vague" (still don't know if that phrase makes sense but), but I kind of figured it out? The thing with Olivia's voice is that I don't want it to be too annoying, but it still has to be the right amount of childish/excited. A lot of possible voices were either too high or babyish, or not childish enough. Since one of my biggest inspirations for her as a character was Spongebob (who is voiced by Tom Kenny), I supposed that a voice done by someone like Tara Strong could probably work, and I've found that her voice for Unikitty is the best example so far. However, one thing I need to mention is that I do imagine Olivia having a slight lisp. (Another one of her biggest inspirations is Larry the Cucumber from Veggie Tales, who has a lisp-- and if I were to direct someone voice-acting for Olivia, I'd probably tell them "like Larry the Cucumber but more girly," lol.)
Kevin Hyenadae - Dana Carvey (Garth Algar - Wayne's World): Garth has always been the voice I imagine for Kevin, again since Garth was a big inspiration for him. A very specific, awkward kind of voice. He sounds exactly like this tbh.
Dusty Carol - Tara Strong (Raven - Teen Titans): Another instance where I've always heard an OC this way (though I don't think Raven is much of an inspiration for Dusty's character beyond "both of these characters are goth-girls with purple in their colour-schemes."). A good balance of uninterested-goth who can still show positive emotions (there are plenty of examples of "goth-girl" voices that are way too monotone for my liking, at least in reference to my character.) Also don't get distracted by the fact that the examples I've used for both Olivia and Dusty are the same voice actress (Tara Strong), these are merely examples, rather than, "this is exactly the people I would cast if this was a cartoon with full voice-acting." It is kind of funny that they're the same actress here, though.
Audrey Hyenadae - Fryda Wolff (Penny Crygor - Warioware: Get It Together!): She should sound confident, maybe TOO confident. Very determined, too, and a little rough perhaps? But still young (she's 12c LOL.) I also considered Pepper Anne's voice for her, but I thought it sounded a little too old.
Parfait Brulee - Toni Barry (Snork Maiden - Moomin): Parfait's voice should be very light and delicate, kind of feminine and very nice. Not much else to say!
Laramie Lemon ("Lemon") - Melissa Altro (Pippi Longstocking - Pippi Longstocking (1998)): I'll be honest, I had a lot of trouble finding Lemon's voice claim. I knew she should sound real friendly, with an air of confidence. A real go-getter! But eventually I thought Pippi Longstocking's voice fit well enough. (Don't be surprised if one day I come back and change this one LMAO)
Tami Kachiyama - Michaela Dietz (Amethyst - Steven Universe): Kind of rough sounding, kind of rude but not too much. I think I've always imagined her sounding like Amethyst.
Ellie Gibson - Olivia Olson (Marceline - Adventure Time): She should sound really cool, and pretty chill. She knows what she's doing! Another one where I've always imagined her with this specific voice! I did consider Wendy's voice from Gravity Falls, but I found that it wasn't chill enough. (btw I could've included a snippet for singing, since Ellie is a musician who sings, but I decided I wanted more attention for a regular talking voice. You can look up any Marceline song from Adventure Time if you want an example.)
Conner Oakley - Rickie Sorensen (Arthur - The Sword In The Stone): Another one that was harder to figure out. But, I knew he should sound a little friendly and very kind, maybe a little awkward. There were a couple of voices I considered, but found they were a little too loud, or rough, etc. But I thought Arthur from Sword In The Stone was a pretty good fit! The only thing is that he should have a southern accent, too... But it's surprisingly difficult to find voices with American-Southern accents that aren't girls, rude-sounding, or fully-grown men lol. (I'll also tell you it was a bit hard to compile the voice lines for this one because Arthur has like three different voice actors in that movie lol, but I think I found lines from just the one va.)
Sally O'Dylan-Gaterson - Jo Firestone (Annie Fantasy - Teenage Euthanasia): Nerdy, nice, shy-sounding, with a bit of a lisp (though I don't have a preference on the severity of said lisp.) I also considered Gretchen from Disney's Recess, but she sounded too smart/sophisticated? Sally is nerdy, but not that much academically speaking.
Danny Squiggles - Arin Hanson (Max - Game Grumps' Sam & Max playthrough): Ok uhhhh this one's kind of funny. The idea for his voice was originally inspired by Jon Lovitz's Tommy Flanagan character from SNL (I know very niche lol), especially since he was partially inspired by that character. But, I thought that, while it would be EXTREMELY funny, I thought Danny should sound less like a fully-grown adult. Surprisingly, when I was casually watching Game Grumps' let's-play of Sam & Max, I found that the voice Arin did for Max let's play would fit pretty well. I also considered Meowth's voice, but he just sounds too much like a cat, yknow?
Margot Nodarobutte - Stephanie Anne Mills (Lindsay - Total Drama Island): Margot should sound like a girly-teenager. Kind of air-headed, too. But not too much? And not like a valley-girl. I thought Lindsay's voice fit those parameters well.
Chloe Lovebird - Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Crystal Flowers Snagrash - Psychonauts): Somehow it was hard to figure out Chloe's voice, but I got it eventually lol. She's gotta have a high voice, and she should sound pretty annoying. I mean, her annoyance-factor should rival Olivia's, lol. Very excitable. She's a parrot after all, lol.
Debbie Xander - Brittney Karbowski (Black Star - Soul Eater): Debbie is LOUD and ABRASIVE. She tends to yell. Very in-your-face, but not exactly mean. Also, I think she might sound a bit androgynous? Idk how many people would consider this particular voice androgynous-sounding, but eh.
Cammie Kharma - Lara Jill Miller (Libby Stein-Torres - The Ghost And Molly McGee): Cammie was another hard one, though I thought she should sound kind of nerdy and a bit upbeat. Also a slightly nasally voice would probably fit, what with her little horn-nose 'n all, lol. My first idea for the voice was actually Juniper Lee, but looking up the voice actress I found this role she did in The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, and thought the attitude of Libby's voice was a better fit.
Edward Tennyson - Todd Haberkorn (Death The Kid - Soul Eater): Ed's got that anime-type voice yknow. He takes everything too seriously and is pretty sophisticated. My first consideration for his voice was actually Haku from Spirited Away, but I thought that sounded TOO serious (though a very deadpan kind of voice could be pretty funny if executed right.) So I remembered Death the Kid from Soul Eater and thought that could work pretty well, though I might want him to sound a tiny-bit less goofy.
Liz Lawrence - Brigette Lundy-Paine (Billie Logan - Bill & Ted Face The Music): This was another hard voice to find, though I still had a good idea of what I wanted her to sound like. I wanted to find a Pauly Shore kind of voice, yknow? (I guess you'd call it a "stoner-type-of-voice" but that seems wrong to say about a 14-year-old LOL) Though most of those kinds of voices you find are boys. Some voices I found were just really chill, TOO chill and cool in fact. While thinking of Bill & Ted I remembered Face The Music and the fact that their kids in that movie were basically copies of them lol, and I thought Billie was a very good fit.
Vic Kilgore - Nathan Sharp (Damien LaVey - Monster Prom): Ok so my idea for Vic's voice was just, "like Nathan Explosion but a kid." Rough, and like... metal, I guess. But he's still an annoying kid. Thought Damien LaVey fit, although I think Vic wouldn't be so loud. (as a bonus, when Vic grows up he sounds more like Nathan Explosion lol)

Maybe a snippet? If you're up for it of course! But after reading the demo(several times) I love the ros so much that it would be straight-up crime *not* to ask for a snippet! I'm not sure what it should be, so why don't you decide! Let your imagination run wild! Or just have fun with it! Of course, this is a request, so if you decide not to do it, that's alright.
Love your work! :3
Ah thank you so much! I'm glad you're loving them so far! 🥰
I have a couple romance drabbles...
Trapped | Dancing | MC Nightmare | Magesmith and making rings |
Slightly shorter but longish for RO asks: One Bed trope | MC wearing RO clothes
Buuut now that a bit more of the world and characters have been introduced...here’s a little quick background snippet around the Magesmith that also has appearances from the Healer and Sage C: Warning for someeeee angst.
Thank you for the ask! ❤️
“There, is that alright?” The Student asks while their friend sits stagnant in front of them, shoulders hunched and back against the wooden wall. Despite the warmth of the fire in the hearth, there’s a dull but overwhelming chill in the air.
When the Student receives no response, they rub a hand against their eyes, stretching the fresh black tattoos underneath golden irises.
They try again.
“Hey-” The false name comes out quietly, but it’s enough to stir the Apprentice.
Darkened and empty eyes look to their friend first, before looking down at the elbow where their left arm now ends, blood wiped away, tight bandages wrapped firmly around their bicep.
“We should go see my Mentor,” the Student says with exasperation, distracted eyes drifting to the ceiling. “He might be able to do more, I don’t know if that’ll stop the pain long term, is it still painful? I might have something else-”
A hand shoots out to grip at their forearm, pale fingers digging into terracotta skin. The Student looks back to find the Apprentice even more hunched, caving into themself, head shaking “no” frantically as dark auburn hair follows the movement.
They continue shaking their head, until the point where their entire body starts to shudder in its wake. The hand at the Student’s forearm clutches tighter, and the soft sound of a whimper is the only thing that leads the Apprentice’s full collapse, their body folding over to rest their forehead against the Student’s knees as the tears push past the barrier they’d been barely holding onto.
Their friend doubles over them in protective reciprocation, hands and face against the Apprentice’s back as they bury their sorrows and guilt against someone else too.
----
“Look, it’s this glyph here-” The Osmium Sage points out in the floating symbols while the Magesmith circles around, right hand scratching idly at their neck as their eyes dart between the metallic arm on the desk and the magic images in question.
“Can’t be, that’s the same one I changed before but the response still wasn’t right.”
“That was after you aligned the lightning mark?”
“Who do you take me for?” the Magesmith snaps in frustration. They shoot an apologetic look at the Sage after realizing their outburst, but the man waves them off.
The Osmium Sage twists his face as he leans back in the wheelchair, ambient red light reflecting off his glasses from the glyphs in front of him. After a final squint of his eye, he gives a defeated huff and scratches at his hairline.
“Hold on, I think I know someone who could help.”
A few minutes later, an unfamiliar person to the Magesmith opens the door, their hazel eyes bright but apologetic.
“Sorry, the Gold Sage is still busy packing, is there anything I could do?”
“Oh!” The Osmium Sage smiles. “Probably for the better anyway. Magesmith, Gold Acolyte, and vice versa.” He waves a hand back to the brunette before a conspiratorial smile lights his lips. “Though soon to be Sage, I hear?”
They smile softly and a hand glances at the braids near their shoulder. “I don’t want to presume.” Their face turns to the Magesmith instead, who still surveys them. “Magesmith?”
“First quadrant, near Daroca.”
“Oh! You were an Apprentice not long ago, weren’t you?”
The Magesmith shrugs but scratches at their nose to hide a just noticeably pleased smile at the comment. “Yeah, finally drove the old one off I guess. Retired to some little place on the edge of the fourth with their wife.”
The Acolyte gives a warm smile and a polite nod, before noticing the floating symbols. “Elemental enchantment?”
“Of a sort. Part of it is, anyway,” the Magesmith starts, eyes scanning between the newcomer and the Osmium Sage, who still wears a smirk. “Trying to lower the response time in a prosthetic but getting a lot of backfire, think it’s the elemental glyph over the others. Any insight?”
“And the lightning mark-“
“Yes I know, I know,” Another annoyed sigh. “I aligned it and then rescribed the water to blood and-”
“No- why are you using a lightning mark?”
The Magesmith and Osmium Sage pause to blink before slowly turning to the Acolyte.
“You’re trying to tune it to the body, not outside energy, of course you’re going to get backfire with a lightning mark,” they say simply, as if the answer is obvious. “It would be close, but not quite the same. But admittedly, I don’t know how to finesse it enough to the body’s energy, and then lock it with these pathos glyphs.” The Acolyte steps forward to wave their hand through the floating images, cycling through them as the Osmium Sage sighs.
“Sounds like you’ve got your work cut out for you then, Magesmith.”
Humming rolls past their lips as they press them together, and a few moments pass before the challenge lights their brown eyes. With a turn, they stare down the Acolyte.
“You got time to invent a brand new glyph with us?”
The Gold Acolyte smiles.
“How hard can it be?”
