Chaos update part 3

Chaos is definitely the word I would use to describe this playthrough cause my god. I didn't do much today, did two side quests and picked up Liara so not much chance for dialogue. So far the pattern remains pretty similar, though Esmea has made a new bestie in Tali. She has been nothing but nice to her the entire time she's been on the ship.

On her hunt for Liara Esmea came across an Asari slaver, took them out and made sure they wouldn't hurt anyone else but also found that she was related to an Asari diplomat (gasp). Also on her hunt for Liara we came across a Thresher Maw, which made Esmea giddy with adrenaline. Girl has a death wish I swear. At the Maws nest she found a unit of Alliance soldiers who had been lured by a fake distress signal. She plans on reporting back her next trip to the Citadel.

After a few random stops Esmea finally finds the planet where Liara is at, and happily gets rid of some Geth and gleefully biotic blasts a Krogan, taking him down in one fell swoop. Esmea was cautious of Liara at first, her mother being Sarens right hand lady after all. But once they talked a bit caution quickly turned into attraction and poor Kaiden was left in the dust.

Speaking of Kaiden lmao, the only words she spoke to him today was calling dibs on the Asari so... Uhh... That's how that's going lmao

And she's a (heavily homebrewed) adept! I played sentinel on my first ME1 playthrough and it was great, SUPER versatile, and then I was dismayed at how much more useless it got in 2 and 3 lol. swapping powers around is a little harder in 2 - the "Set SFXPowerCustomActionBase IsBonusPower" command resets constantly in 2, while only resetting on save/load in 3, which means that I can get rid of the useless biotic grenade and replace it with Charge in 3 and I only have to remember to run the command on startup instead of Every Time There's A Loading Screen. (are those words not gibberish to anyone but me?) so she's a little glass-cannon-ier in 2 than in 3, where she is an extremely op'd one-woman wrecking ball.

(note that despite being my favorite series* ever ever ever, it is notably not on the extremely short list of "games whose combat I like enough to play on anything other than Idiot Weenie Baby Difficulty". its casual difficulty is genuinely still too much of a pain for me. the combat in mass effect sucks absolute ass and I stand by that.)

*horizon zero dawn does ultimately eclipse (🥁💥) it as my favorite single standalone game. we don't talk about the sequel.

also, for completeness: earthborn** / war hero, romances Garrus (obviously. seeing a Cool Alien and finding out you could kiss him was 100% of the reason i first played it. she would be absolutely dtf w/ wrex if bioware wasn't COWARDS though), renegon (ride or die for her crew, can't be assed with politeness to anyone else, will always do the right thing eventually but will bitch about it the entire time), destroy MEHEM ending :3

**she was originally a colonist, but earthborn works better for her Extremely Stupid Crossover Backstory that i've built up in my head. look, noveria was basically just the plot of aliens, you can't give me that AND lance henriksen and expect me NOT to run wild with it.

No Good Day

In honor of my favorite Commander's birthday coinciding with not just mine, but my bestie @mallaidhsomo's birthday, I decided a mash-up was overdue.

So, happy birthday Molly, and happy birthday Commander of my heart! Here's a little snippet of our chaotic Shepard's if they had been earth born twins in another universe. <3

Emery fisted her hand in the hem of her dirty tank top and stretched it to his nose. “Here.”

He smacked her hand away and wiped his arm across his face, smearing blood all the way to his elbow, and shot her a glare she rarely ever saw directed at her. 

“This woudna happened if you’d left well enough alone,” he said angrily.

Guilt clenched through her belly, but a dark dribble sped past his lips, so she tried again to hold her shirt hem to his bleeding nose.

Eric sighed, but he didn’t yank away from her this time. “Why’d you go and do that anyway? You know what messing with Lark means.”

Her tears welled, hot and angry immediately. “Because he’s an asshole,” she spat.

He fixed her with a look, despite his swollen eye that was already purpling. “I should’ve just let him hit you.”

His mumbled words hung visibly in the cold air, and somehow she felt like she’d gotten that punch anyway.

The rain was the only sound between them, loudly pinging off the metallic awning of the stoop they were huddled in.

He was soaked to the bone, his baggy clothes sticking to him and black street grime went all the way up his thin legs. He looked so small and miserable, and she probably looked exactly the same.

This was not how she’d been thinking this would go at all. The entire day had been a fat mess.

Just like her.

She opened her mouth, but a Lonestar shuttle blasted by somewhere close, its siren and thrusters seeming to rob her of the right words as they drowned out even the pounding storm.

Rain was pouring down her face in thick streams, and plastering her ponytail uncomfortably to her neck - and that suited her just fine, she could let the tears go and he wouldn’t even know.

“He took my money,” she grumbled, then turned away from him to blindly watch the tourists shuffling by the dim alleyway.

“What?!” Eric exclaimed. “God, Em, I got socked because he took a measly coupla cen—”

“No! He took 10 whole credits from me!” she cried. “And they were mine! I spent all day helping Mrs. Lee clean that shitty little shack to get that!”

He blinked up at her, but before he could continue she put her foot on her sopping windbreaker and yanked it to them, then bent awkwardly to scoop it up off the toe of her boot while keeping her shirt firmly under her brother’s nose.

Emery shoved the jacket into his lap. “Here. It’s for you.”

He sucked in a shuddering breath around her wet shirt and gently unwrapped her present.

“Oh…Em…” he trailed off.

“It wasn’t a waste,” she vomited the words at him, knowing his likely protests and trying to head them off. “It's not replicated - I went all the way up to Greenwich for it.”

He held up the clear plastic container to the flickering stoop light to get a better look at the dark piece of chocolate cake inside of it.

“Why?”

Emery shuffled her feet. “Well, it's our birthday right? You said it was probably sometime in February.”

Shadows of emotions passed across his face, but with his fat eye she couldn’t tell if they were good or bad.

The container crinkled and popped in his grip.

So, she hurriedly continued. “And you’re a teenager now. That seemed….” she trailed off.

Eric tugged on her arm until she sat next to him, then he popped open the lid of the cake and eagerly shoved a goey piece into his mouth.

“Mmm,” he hummed, then held the container out under her chin and impatiently shook it. “You’re 13 now too, you know.”

Emery’s stomach growled loudly as she stuck her fingers into the frosting. It was every bit as soft and perfect as it looked in the glass case, but nothing prepared her for the absolutely overwhelming creamy sweetness of real.

So she savored that bite, curled shivering into her brother’s side while blood dried on his face.

“Worf it?” she asked with her mouth full.

Eric nodded and swallowed another bite. “Yeah. I’m sorry I said that — I’m glad I didn’t let him hit you, Em.”

She snorted. “Because I'm the most thoughtful sister ever?”

He stuffed another piece in his mouth and talked around it. “No, becuf I still look goof even wif a black eye — you’f look like a vorcha.”

Emery punched him in the arm, and they both dissolved into laughter muffled by chocolate cake.

New Year, New Me!

Or rather, more coherent me. I'm entering this year with a PLAN, and that plan... involves me writing more fanfic, not going to lie, but ALSO involves me writing some original stuff as well!

I'm also realizing I didn't do last month's end of the month roundup, so let me quickly go over that. First, there were four chapters of Vista of the Stars, with Vista finally taking off into space. Secondly there were eight little oneshots for that Worm/Bofuri crossover, which may be expanded on, plus another oneshot where a certain butterfly flaps their wings entitled Vogue. Finally, I added another chapter to An Injection of Chaos, in which Charlotte builds a horse.

Yes, you read that right, builds a horse.

Hmmmm... while I'm here, I might as well mention what I've done this month. Another chapter of the Conference Call fic, wherein the girls talk about their childhoods and being a princess, plus another Vista of the Stars chapter for all of you that like Star Wars and upgrades. Oh, and I kicked off a new fic: In Defiance Of Oblivion, starring Mass Effect's Commander Shepard as an unwilling source of chaos while she sets out on her quest to save the galaxy!

And in non-fanfic news, I'm halfway through one project, partway through another, and starting on a third. Those projects, once they're ready to launch, will be hitting Kickstarter--and I do intend to get at least one of them ready to launch this year.

I have never met a game whose story is fighting its open world concept as hard as Red Dead Redemption 2 does.

I've reached Chapter 6, and so far the main story of the game is the gang drawing too much attention to their crimes, getting into an epic shootout, and then having to shift camps, towns, even states, because they're wanted men.

It's 1899. The Wild West is dying, the strength of federal and state governments and their collaboration with Pinkertons is growing, an outlaw can't simply shift to the next town over with a different name. We're losing people, the law is closing in on us, everyone is feeling desperate. It is literally the story of our protagonist losing his old way of life and his world getting smaller and smaller.

But like. His world isn't actually any smaller.

How am I supposed to take Arthur saying "I'm a wanted man in two states :(" seriously when I have the whole map at my disposal, with any of the bounties I get (including ones from main story missions!) easily paid off at the local post office.

This is way worse than when open worlds make it seem like the protagonist is fucking around while the world is on fire! At least then it is merely that the open world is orthogonal to the main story, and some games even throw in a token reason to go running around (see: closing portals in Dragon Age: Inquisition). But here the open world actively fights against the deliberate claustrophobia and panic that the main story is trying to induce in us, which is the worst interplay of open world and main plot I've seen.

i think a lot of morality discussions in fandoms, those with more action are kinda silly because most of the time that action involves killing people.

Ok part two of Mass Effect chaos run... And things are interesting... To say the least lmao

To start out with, the council meeting actually went... Well. Esmea yelled at Saren and got a little sassy but was otherwise amicable. Stay neutral through most of it. She did not however want to recruit Garrus in any way.. she has a thing against Turians apparently 🤦(how I have no idea something is def wrong with her)

She was very nice to Udina and Anderson. Like extremely nice to them. (Ass kiss)

She met Harkin and I was honestly amazed she didn't punch him for his comment, but her niceness lasted for five seconds. As soon as he called her princess it was over lmao. She was nice to Wrex when we saw him.

After this she went to the med clinic. Biotic slammed everyone there lmao, then was an absolute bitch to dr.michel. idk why since she obviously doesn't like Garrus but what ya gonna do. When Garrus said he wanted to join the dice got vetoed and he was added to the crew. After that she was pretty nice to him, airing on neutral.

She went to pick up Wrex next and was pretty nice to him, but I don't think she knows about Krogan sarcasm lol. She decided not to take him to get Fist, didn't want to deal with him trying to kill him and what not. Managed to get everyone in the bar and scared the shit out of the warehouse workers. Impressed Garrus😏. She spared Fist simply because she didn't want to deal with him.

After this she ran off to save Tali, and when we found her they quickly became besties. I swear Tali was the person she has been the nicest too the entire time. Then they all went all the way back to the council and Esmea was mortified with the conversations Ashely and Tali were having behind her. Like... Ashley.. really... Garrus was nicer to her. Council finally saw sense and Esmea went full bitch mode over them not believing her and not taking Saren seriously. Took Spectreship like a boss lol.

After all of this she went wide mission crazy, or at least tried. Most of the time she didn't want to deal with people's problems. 🤦 (Goodbye xp)

She was convinced to help Jenna at the bar however and Chellick and her... Well let's just say they didn't get along... She did finally agree to help him but then... I honestly don't know what happened. She took the shipment and then just refused to pay him... Her excuse was that... She didn't like him.. and then proceeded to have a full blown fire fight in the market... So... That was fun..

That's the most of what happened today lmao. Other then her just being an absolutely terrible person to Ashley my god. She has not said one nice thing to her this whole time I swear.

I wanted to try different looks for Spinel, in the Spinelluva Boss AU...

this would be her third form, she of course had poofed and her conciseness manifestation of light had retreated back into her gem.

in all four concepts of her mature new form, she pretty much looks a little the same, but she is given a more air of maturity.

in this form, she is slightly taller than her two previous forms, but still keeping some of the looks of her second form.

I could think over if the 1# look, could be her first new mature form, and after poofing about three times, before reaching her fourth form where she goes back to having two ponytails, but them being much longer than her previous ones, and her having spiked wristbands and a collar/choker...

the rest of her outfit would still be the same, only some parts of it would be in a different color from the other three.                      

in the 4# form, it has her wearing lipstick...

in all three different concepts of her new fanon form for Spinelluva Boss AU...

she is possibly around Blitzo’s height, but in theory in her previous second form, she may have been around Millie & Moxxie’s height.

and if she was in her first form, she would probably be up to both Millie & Moxxie’s shoulders, possibly have been a bit shorter than them in her first form

but in her second form she would possibly be the same height as them.

but in her third form, she is taller than them now...

in Spinelluva Boss Au, Spinel never met with White, Yellow and Blue on Earth, and end up going with them to Homeworld and becoming new friends & family.

she instead ends up going to Hell, but of course she is very much alive when she did so, and wasn’t shattered...

and yes this is a spoiler from what I had wrote, but she was taken there by I.M.P. but their originally plan was to take out someone who was suppose to be at Beach City, but because of the situation that had to do with Spinel, they had to try again on a later day...and the target happen to be Greg’s Ex-Manager “Marty”....

and while Spinel ends up being saved by the I.M.P and brought to their work place, she ends up becoming a part of I.M.P.

even though she has a different look in this drawing, she is still a Jester...

but she’s a “Freelance Jester”, and if you think about it, she would be like the “Harley Quinn” To Fizzarolli’s or Robo-Fizz’s “Joker”....

picture her reaching in her gem and pulling out a Hammer and twirling it in her hand before getting ready to wack Robo-Fizz or Ozzie’s Fizzy.

and like any gem, she can shape-shift, and not just stretch.

so if she wanted to, she could probably make herself look like Ozzie, Alastor, Angel Dust, Blitzo, Robo-Fizz and possibly anyone else she had met or heard about by watching on TV or from a newspaper.

in theory, when shape-shifting a gem could change the color of their palette to match who they are taking the form of, but their gem would stay the same both in color and on the place it is on their body.

so if Spinel could shape-shift into a perfect copy of whoever she chooses,

what would be different about the forms she takes, even if she matches them almost perfectly, they would end up having her gem on their chest, or rather it would still be her, so it would still be her...

         it be funny if she shape-shift in the form of Charlie’s Dad, and did what Amethyst did when she shape-shift to look like Pearl...

like picture Spinel who looks like Lucifer Morningstar, and ends up slapping “his” own butt while making the same sound that Amethyst did when impersonating Pearl.

and picture Charile, Vaggie and Lilith watching and trying to hold in their laughter from what Spinel is doing in the disguise Lucifer form.

anyway, when I can I will have this drawing be part of a Cover for a Chapter...

to show her four possible new forms.

the fan fic of the Spinelluva Boss AU, which is a Crossover AU...

might not end up being very long, and might end up being a few chapters.

and anyway, that is all I have to say about it...

     meechi. i constantly think about the fact Firo & Luck took down an entire syndicate in one night, and that wasn’t even their original intent. no, they went to Mexico to go question some guys who stole money from their individual organizations ; the whole ‘stopping an enemy syndicate’ was basically like a whole side quest interrupting their main quest. absolutely hysterical to me.

              𝒓𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕 to pull back. it’s not bitterness or former revulsion towards the xo that bars her from pushing further; it’s the initial resistance she’s been met with that sobers her up. true, she hadn’t enjoyed miranda’s company or presence since boarding the normandy. but somewhere along the lines of nearly dying time and time again as they head towards certain death, that dislike is chipped away and makes room for vulnerability. seeing the so called paradigm of perfection break formation and twist under pressure of fear, just like any other crew member on this ship. seeing her obvious discomfort on pragia, which later grows with each mention of rory’s own cerberus experience. it humanizes her in ways rory hadn’t expected. and rory realizes miranda’s been as much a victim to cerberus’ tactics as anyone aboard this ship is. maybe she thinks that’s where they stand, on common ground, and the mutual situation would give a little way for more. 

              but miranda holds her at arm’s length like she was poison, somehow. and rory blinks owlishly up at her, still trying to reconcile the whirlwind of how she carried herself into miranda’s office and where she was now. ❝ yeah ... ❞  rory responds, wiping her thumb at her own lower lip as her face fills with warmth. it’s as gently as anyone could be let down but it’s still delicate. she already tries to turn to leave ... but miranda’s hold on her arms doesn’t relent. instead they’re very much still facing each other, shoulders rising and falling subtly as they both force their breaths to a slower rate. rory’s not sure which direction to move in, but her head tilts at miranda’s words, almost in complete confusion as she begins shaking it. 

              ❝ who said anything about emotions ? ❞  she asks slowly,  ❝ that’s not what i’m here for. but ... if you want me to leave, i’ll leave. just say the words.❞
