I loved the scene between Magnum, TC and Rick mostly because it was just such a reaffirming moment for their friendship and journey. Not to mention the parallel of Magnum having that conversation with dream Nuzzo, looking back at Juliet and now being with TC and Rick and looking back at her and it's all for real.

They've been through the worst together and now getting to see Magnum so happy (because it's too important he said!!), it's such a full circle moment for these friends. They came to the island with hope for a future and that's what they've all found now.

Plus Higgins just knowing he needed to share it and not caring in the least because she knows it's working. And the soft little arm around her shoulder while she leans into his chest. They're so gone for each other!

For shits and giggles, and because I caught an interview with Jay Hernandez and the cast giving info on the upcoming season, I actually started watching Magnum again, now that it’s moved to NBC.

And goddammit, I am now fully back in a fandom that I thought I HAD WASHED MY HANDS OF - but I think Jay Hernandez is suddenly pulling a lot more strings on the writing, because it feels like a different show. And a couple things mirror real life - like Rick and Thomas sharing the guest house because Zack and Jay roomed together for the first year of filming, writing into the storyline (pretty sure it was an episode rather than an interview) that it was Rick that teaches Magnum to surf because Zack teaches Jay how to surf and now they have to pry them both out of the water to film scenes. Even though Higgins and Magnum are now dating, they actually spend less time together. The story lines are divided amongst the characters evenly. They split them up differently every episode - sometimes Higgins and Thomas are off investigating, sometimes it’s Rick and Higgins, and Thomas and TC (and Thomas and TC are just like...my favorite dynamic duo) and you know what? Higgins is actually pretty funny this go around. Her jokes are more good natured than actual jabbing, Thomas and the guys have (admittedly throwaway) lines that prove that yes, they are besties and would do anything for one another, rather than “we’re only sharing a scene because it’s written that way”. AND MOTO HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR AND I LOVE IT.

So far the highlights:

They're trying to get back stolen goods to get back Higgins and Rick from the bad guys, and they track down the guy who has them, and their first pitch is basically "we just want to borrow it, bring it back in a couple of hours, and we won't tell the cops" and the guy counters with only if they leave the Ferrari as collateral, because he "has all the leverage" and Magnum smirks that smirk of his, leans forward, and says "Counter offer" and it skips to the next scene where they're duct taping the guy to a chair, stealing his phone and his stolen goods, and TC is just like "should've taken the first offer" while Thomas is just like...the happiest burglar alive as he breaks into the guy’s phone.

Higgins: you've found something Magnum: how do you know? Higgins: you have a "I'm up to no good" smirk Magnum: I...could have resting "I'm up to something " face Higgins: You DEFINITELY have resting "I'm up to something" face, but you also found something

I like this show again.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh deeeeeeeeear.

Magnum P.I. 2018 Season 5 Expectation | TV SHOW

After the threat of cancelation Magnum P.I. was thankfully greenlighted for another season. One more season of Magnum, Juliet, and the gang enjoying Hawaii and solving cases. NBC picking it up from CBS is the right choice with the show still having plenty of potential. It just needs a bit of a rejuvenation in it’s plot.
