I love this gifset so much. Ever since I saw this prompt I knew what I was gonna do for it. The trick was to remember this scene, and where I had seen it. Both me and @thethistlegirl were seeing the same thing in our heads when we read the prompt and through a process of elimination of possible shows and episodes, we found it was the Magnum reboot pilot episode. It was too vivid for us to have made it up, and we were right, we did it see it somehere. This scene somehow got seared in our brains, and I am glad for that. This moment is going to haunt me for a long, long time. The trust, the support, the love and care between these two, mwah, chef's kiss.
@jay_hernandez via twitter: Sooooo, guys. It's Friday and this is me & my best bud @Tim__Kang on the set of Magnum PI shooting season 5 thanks to YOU. Weeeeee're baaaaaaaack.
Seriously, I am considering to never make gifs ever again. Not when I spend HOURS editing, just for people to repost it on Twitter. While I get a few notes here, it blows up on Twitter without no proper credits. 😒
You know that feeling when you find a gif you made back in January from one tv show (how it's December now boggles my mind) and then you take a notice of a scene in another tv show and you are like, hmm, can I put these two in a post together? Yes, I absolutely can and I will.
I'm not staring. Nope.
I'm just gonna leave this post here and go drink a glass of water to cool down 🥵
some of you may know that it takes me ages to sit down and make edits for a show. a few come and co - like tyler from wednesday, and some stay forever - magnum pi is a good example for that. now, with lockwood & co. it is different.
usually, i watch a show, make about 1-2 video edits of it and then get bored. but for some reason my lockwood & co. folder has more than 50 videos already. in the time span of about 100 days. so, this cancelation weighs a lot heavier on me than the usual. locknation is my found family, my happy place. and i will not let family down like that. i’ll get my rapier ready and fight. i hope you’ll help me with this?
now, my main inspiration for all of this is cameron chapman - for those who don’t know: the one who plays anthony lockwood, 1/3 of the leading iron trio. he has a charm and a way to portray and feel his role like no one i’ve ever seen before. he is anthony lockwood. he makes you believe that. and given that this is his first show is absolutely mindblowing to me. he’s the inspiration, the main ’source’ (👻) behind my extreme joy and happiness lately. and the reason for my countless ideas of video edits.
to know that such an incredible show with even more incredible books got canceled out of the blue is absolutely not understandable for me. it was top show in various countries for longer than most of these ‘popular shows‘. the crew and cast (and fans!) poured their souls into it. and we will get it back. i wish i could promise you that. i cant, but i 100% believe we will. we will get it back for them.
i’m literally heartbroken right now, i’ve cried for the past two hours. i refuse to let my happy place go like that. my comfort show. we will have a second season. i believe in us.
Do you think people gave up too quickly on trying to being heard about Jesse leaving and the writers taking a sledgehammer to Jay/Upstead? I always thought there is way more to that story than simply Jesse wanting to leave and a big part of that was he saw and liked a lot of rant tweets about him leaving. Angry rant tweets not sweet goodbye thank you tweets. He strikes me as someone who if it was completely his decision he would have tweeted out to the fans and been like guys I appreciate it but this was my decision in the first few weeks or even days afterward. And then in terms of the horrible writing, couldn’t we have gotten an upstead forever billboard and put it right in front of a bigwigs/NBC office or “Jay Halstead would never ghost his wife,” weren’t there big gestures we could have tried? Even if it didn’t work at least it was a big swing. I think a billboard is how fans got magnum PI resurrected for another season.
I'm sorry, I'm slightly entertained by the worry that people weren't loud or that it wasn't known that viewers were upset with the writing when Jesse left. Wolf Ent, NBCOC, and NBC couldn't post a thing without being whacked 😂. It was known.
The hard truth for fan campaigns to learn is that they rarely work, and they are rarely the reason for change. The decision is always going to be made in the interest of business. When a show is canceled and brought back by another network or an actor is invited back, they may say it's because of fan outcry, but that's almost never the whole story. It may help, but the reality is something happened or changed on the business side of things to make that adjustment worth it. If things aren't lining up in terms of money or negotiations, a billboard won't fix that.
Now, the situation with Jay feels a bit different because it would just be about getting him back for one episode rather than full time. It's something they've done numerous times with other actors under Wolf Ent, so it feels like the reluctance is coming more from a writing standpoint than a business one. I'm not sure why they've dug their heels in the sand so hard about leaving him out of the story. I have my guesses, but I don't know. But it's still known that lots of viewers want Jesse to come back. The cast knows, crew knows, and I would bet money that the execs know too. I always say social media is the best avenue if you really want to say something more. If they haven't been swayed yet, a billboard would not do it. Save that money!
Edit: just a logistical note. The writers rooms and production offices are not in a location that you could even place a billboard by. Unless you're breaking some laws. Don't do that either.
