On the 14th day of my art quest, I took one of @maiemorrae's characters and drew her because I thought she looked neat. If you want to know more about the character, go follow her.

Build YOUR Yssaia OC TODAY! #YssaiaWeek
Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! Tomorrow marks the start of Yssaia Week -- my yearly celebration of Godsweek in my world! (The origins of Yssaia, the birthday of the Gods, and also, the week Arlasaire got adopted 🥺) On YouTube, I'll be posting new videos every single day, culminating in my Punk Conlang Opera!
So I thought it'd be cool to celebrate over here on Writeblr by creating Writing Prompts for every day of the Week -- inspired largely by @maiemorrae's Luctine writing prompts!
Prepare by building an Yssaia OC or two and then, throughout the week, I'll drop story prompts for them to navigate 🤗
The following slides are intended to be prompts to inspire your character. Circle your choices as you go! But don't feel limited to the "real lore" or something silly like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sidebar: I do know some of these slides could be cleaner and easier to read. Literally no one realizes what the gender slider is the first time 🤣 I'm sorry in advance! I'm open to Asks and Comments, of course!

my cursed st5 predictions:
the season starts with max's funeral
there's a single throwaway line about her dying some time during the theorised time skip, but no real information
b*lly comes back in some form for absolutely no reason
steve makes at least one self-deprecating comment about being an idiot per episode
will and mike don't speak unless its completely necessary
dustin comforts lucas after max dies and they end up getting together <3 luctin truthers for the win
nancy breaks up with jonathon in front of everybody like ten minutes before they have some sort of big showdown
eddie comes back in the final episode as vecna's servant, he's there for a minute max and is immediately killed again
erica kills someone, its never made clear whether or not its an accident
karen divorces ted which kickstarts the reveal of ted being an undercover sleeper agent storyline for the spin-off
hopper dies for real this time in a spiderman infinity war like scene
robin and vickie get together AND breakup within the hiatus but vickie comes to win robin back and dies
steve does a 360 and changes his mind about nancy to tell robin he still loves her and then is almost fatally wounded
holly has powers but she doesn't contribute anything to the plot she just starts messing with her parents and nobody finds out about the powers until its too late
there's some kind of cheap unexplained hawkins-wide mind wipe at the end of the finale

Character Voice #2
Had a lot of fun with the first and saw a friend put out another sentence to try. This time the prompt comes from @dragonprincedawn
"You don't look good, are you ok?"
Ellis: "Hey… are you alright? It just seems you have a lot on your mind."
Aleksandr: "Is something the matter? You seem unwell."
Amelia: "Hmmm… you have that look about you, is everything alright?"
Lucas: "Maybe you should slow down? Ah… well it just seems you might be unwell."
Diana: "Pain, annoyance, or concern? Perhaps I can help."
Illiya: "Are you in pain or have some other ailment? If it's treatable I can help."
Spectre: "Go on now, you've got something on your mind. You can tell me, or maybe let me figure it out."
The Archivist: "A moment please, you seem to be troubled by something, is there anything I can do to aid you?"
These were very fun to do. To add another sentence to the pool, and open to anyone.
"Please don't leave me alone right now."

Luctine Writing Prompt #11
Running a bakery in Sapphire Row leads you to meet a surprising variety of people. Noble couples come in for a sweet treat, their eyes only on each other and buying more than they would eat but hardly giving it care. A young lordling excitedly asks their parents for one of the more colorful treats. A quiet servant coming to pick up an order for their employer’s party that evening.
One patron usually catches your eye though.
A quiet nobleman who comes in on the first day of each week and orders two simple pastries. He’ll then sit at the window and will only ever eat one, leaving the other to be taken by whoever seems to notice it long after he’s left.

Before Page 1 Tag Game
Wanted to try out starting one of these. It might also just be an excuse for me to talk about an event in my world.
Basically, the idea is to give some information about an event or character interaction that is relevant to your WIP but occurs before the events of the story. Ideally, something that wouldn't really be covered in detail in the main story but would be brought up by the characters or has a noticeable impact on the narrative.
Gonna soft poke @amaiguri and @moonfeatherblue if you guys want to try this or pass it on.
The event I have to talk about takes place about 7 years before the start of Lost Recollections.
The Soul-Link Incident, 935 AE
The Soul-Link Incident refers to the successful and attempted assassination attempts on the Commanding Seekers of each city in the Imperium. The attacks were done by a network of arcanists whose main goal was the disruption and overthrowing of the Bureau, Arcanis Volatris. In the end, 3 out of the attempted 12 assassinations were successful.
One of the branches to lose their Commanding Seeker was the seekers of Turis Folis in Noxton. The Volatris' plan in Noxton was carried out by a lone member of the group, a ritualist known as Ryelle. Following weeks of preparation, Ryelle was able to learn about the true identity of the commander and used that knowledge to lead him into a trap. While with him she was able to perform the ritual that had been created and perfected by the Volatris. The ability to link the life force of one person to another.
Shortly after the ritual was complete the then Commander Arcalos was returned to the seekers. He was sparse with the details as to what happened to him, blaming it on one of the rituals done by Ryelle. Some time later Ryelle was captured by the seekers and swiftly sentenced to execution for her attack on the commander and her involvement with Arcanis Volatris.
At the time of her death, she put up no fight and died with a smile on her face. This unsettled the seekers who carried out the act, led by Seeker Robin. Within the hour of Ryelle's death, Commander Arcalos fell deathly ill and it appeared as if his life force was quickly draining. It was then that the commander revealed the truth of Ryelle's plan.
The ritual she performed linked their life forces through the spectral plane. If one of them were to die and their essence destroyed as is normal protocol when someone dies, the other would soon suffer a relatively quick death as their own life force suffers the same fate as the force it's tethered to. The plan relied on the fact that if captured, the Volatris agent would be killed, either just based on their allegiance or failing that, causing enough damage and destruction that the seekers would be left with no choice.
Just before his death, the commander named Seeker Hawk as his successor who reluctantly took on the role passed on by his mentor. It did not take long for news of what happened to spread throughout the other branches of the order but by them, it was too late for some of them which suffered a similar fate to Noxton's. The event now known as the Soul-Link Incident has further increased tensions between the seekers across the nations. The relations between Silver Seekers and their fellows are tense across many branches to this day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Was this just an excuse to talk about an event in my world? I'll never tell. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have some establishing stuff that isn't really needed to know for the story but can add a little bit if you know about it.
Luctine Writing Prompts #12
Within the last month of the year, the people of Azarren celebrate the demons that saved them on that fateful day nearly 1000 years ago. Each city of Azarren has 12 demons to attribute their survival to. This is called The Festival of Honors, a two-week festival with each day dedicated to one of the demons.
In the capital city of Morraen though, the festival is paused on its seventh day. While many of the elite wish the seventh to be forgotten, her name is still said in thanks by many of the common folk.
That name is Naham, the demon of curiosity who traded her power and status in pursuit of that curiosity.
Luctine Writing Prompt #9
The Night of Mist, it's not exactly a holiday but more of a supernatural occurrence that happens once a year in Alemere. On this night it's as if the lightning barriers have failed as a fog as thick as the miasma floods the caldera that the city resides in. The citizens are encouraged to remain at home as the lowered visibility makes it almost impossible to navigate.
On this night the aurora above the city seems to glow more brilliantly, its lights bathing the city in hues of blue and green. The lake in the center of the caldera stands unnaturally still, reflecting the sky and shrouded city in a perfect mirror.
On this night you decided to sneak out and watch the lights after a careful climb down towards the lake.
It's on this night you see a woman in white and blue who walks across the lake as if she were the only human in the world.
Dead Darlings Tag Game
Saw this from @sunset-a-story and thought it would be fun to do since I've been looking at older work lately.
Rules: Share a part of your writing you love that got cut for the greater good. It doesn't matter if it's a line or a paragraph. It doesn't matter if you might work it back in. If it's not currently in a WIP and you want to share, please do.
For this, I pulled a section from what I'd consider to be the very first draft/version of What Makes a Seeker. At the time I was writing this, it was going to be a story that followed Ellis, at the time using the name Eriana, as she grew up and how she came to be a seeker. Eventually, I had instead decided to start the story with her joining the seekers, that would have been version 2 of the story. Then it changed again into the story I'm currently writing and have up on my website.
While some of this is still relevant and the flavor of it still matches Ellis' story, I've shifted and adjusted her backstory a good bit by now. One of the major differences between this version and the current version of her backstory is that in this, Ellis is around 5 years old whereas in the current version, this event wouldn't have happened until she was around 8 or so.
I did a bit of patching up on this but still kept her name as it was in this version, just know that Eriana is Ellis, I simply shifted the name between versions 2 and 3 of the story.
Soft tagging @amaiguri and @moonfeatherblue for this if interested.
The quiet of the night was interrupted by the loud sound of a low dolorous bell. Mathias quickly sat up, having been startled awake by the loud sound. He looked over at Cadia as panic quickly set in. Eriana slowly woke up from the sound of the bell and her father’s frantic movements.
“No, no, no, Cadia please, no…” He reached around Eriana and gently moved her aside to check on Cadia. “Please be someone else…”
“Papa, what was that?” Eriana sleepily asked, her question ignored as Mathias’ actions grew frantic.
“No, no, this… this can’t happen. Not you.” There was no breath or other signs of life from Cadia. There was no denying the source of the bell, Cadia was dead.
Mathias sat back, almost in a daze and not wanting to believe what had happened. Meanwhile, Eriana crawled over to her mother and gave her a gentle shake. “Mama, what was that noise? You’re a heavy sleeper if it didn’t wake you up.” She continued to poke, waiting for a response. “Mama…? Why aren’t you waking up? Papa, why is Mama so still?”
Silence greeted her questions on both sides. Mathias sat in silence just trying to process what was about to happen. Soon tears begin to spring from his eyes and his shoulders slump. “Eri… mama… mama is…” He choked on his words, not able to get them out. He was about to try again when there was a stern knock on the door. He looked up, knowing already who was on the other side and knowing that nothing could change what has and is about to happen. He almost seemed to harden as he stood up from the bed, giving a heartbroken expression towards Cadia. “Eriana… go, go and sit at the table.”
Another sharp knock was heard at the door as Mathias went towards it. Eriana looked confused, not moving from her spot next to her mother. “Why, who's at the door? Papa, why won’t Mama wake up?” Before a response was given Mathias opened the door to those waiting outside.
Standing outside the door were three figures. Each of them wore an ornate mask with copper detailing covering the lower part of their faces. One of them wore a well-kept uniform consisting of a black coat with gold trimming. Running down the front and back of the uniform is a fine red cloth with the same gold trim. The other two were in plain clothes though they were fancier than anyone from here would wear. The expression in their eyes was hard, here for a purpose, and were determined to do that job. The one in the uniform spoke up.
“Sir, we are here to collect the dead.” His voice was firm, sounding as though he’d said this a thousand times.
Mathias, at this point, was nearly numb and merely stood aside to let the men into the small room. The two in plain clothes began to walk to the back of the room where Cadia lay and Eriana sat still on the bed, giving a nervous look to the strangers who’d come into her home. “Dead… wha, what do you mean?” The strangers paused, one of their expressions softened at the small girl. He stepped forward and kneeled to be at eye level with the girl. He looked back at Mathias, who'd grown still and purposefully was not looking at that side of the room, he let out a small sigh before speaking to the girl.
“I’m sorry child, but your mother is dead. That's… that’s why she’s not waking up.” He paused for a second and watched the girl's face. “And why we are here.”
“No… you, you’re lying.” She stood on her knees on the bed, between the strangers and her mother. “Mama can’t be dead, she… she’s just sleeping!” Eriana gave a fierce look at the stranger, but tears began to form as doubt began to creep in. “She’s… just sl-sleeping right?”
“Rook, Moss.” The sharp voice of the uniformed stranger came from the doorway. The two shared a look before the one kneeling stood back up. His eyes showed genuine sympathy as he followed his orders.
“I’m truly sorry, but you need to move child.” He put a hand on her shoulder and tried to gently guide her off the bed. “We’re here to take care of your mother so that she can rest easy.”
“No! You can’t, mama is resting here! We can take care of her!” She yelled at the two men, pushing back against the one trying to move her as tears ran down her face. After a few moments of struggle with the hysterical child the one who had been speaking to her lifted her off the bed, keeping a hold despite her kicking and weakly hitting him.
“Rook, get a move on.” The one who held Eriana, Moss says to his partner. Rook gave a solemn nod and laid out a large white cloth on the floor. Rook then carefully moved Cadia off the bed into the center of the cloth and wrapped the woman up, carefully tying the cloth closed once he was done. The full process took a few minutes and by then Eriana was no longer lashing out, instead merely shaking with tears running down her face in a near-endless stream. Moss had set her down but kept a firm grip on her shoulders.
Rook gave a final look to the child, his expression unreadable before he bent down and lifted Cadia’s form, and began making his way out the door, past the uniformed stranger. Moss looked down at the child turning her around and kneeled once again. “I promise child, she will rest easy now. We make sure of that.”
Archival Art #1: Silver Initiate Nightshade
I was going through some old artwork and came across this one. It's decently simple but I still like it a lot. The outfit is my old design for the initiate uniforms.
Tumblr media
I have other old artwork I could share, some stuff won't be accurate to the current designs but I'd still love to show if there is interest in seeing them?
CalmWriMo Wrap-up
Final Word Count: 27,543
I'm very happy with what I got done this month. While I didn't announce it here I did have an internal goal of 25k words and as you can see I indeed hit that goal. This month of more focused writing has been great. It got me back into the headspace of writing more often as I was getting into a slump with it.
I find that I like to flit about from project to project and sometimes I would feel a bit bad about that. However, writing every day made it so that I could be more spontaneous as to what I work on while still making progress with everything. I plan to keep up the daily writing moving forward, though I don't think I'll be doing the daily updates. I think moving forward I'd like to do more of a weekly writing roundup.
It's also been very cool to see all the progress everyone else has been making this month too. At first, I was a little unmotivated to do this but as I saw other people's posts it just felt a lot nicer. I've also picked a lot more steam coming towards the end as my love for one of my stories has been super renewed.
I hope everyone else had a good month of writing and I can't wait to see what everyone makes moving forward! Of course, though I will leave a song once more, another song for Ellis.
Tomorrow I've got something fun to share :)
CalmWriMo Day 30
Word Count: 1432
And with that, we've reached the end.
I'll have a reflection-type post tomorrow but for tonight I've just got some music to share.
I worked a lot on Ellis' past today and this just felt fitting as her parents.
A short update today but I'll have a good deal more to show tomorrow.
CalmWriMo Day 24
Word Count: 1800
Typing this up as I wait in the airport terminal to fly home. Visiting with family was nice but I am very tired, thank you insomnia for no sleep last night.
Anyways...
Made more progress on the planning sheets for Ellis and Luctine for class. Working on these is very fun. The character sheet especially is a great character builder as I'm filling out somethings I hadn't completely thought of yet. That or actually getting down things I've only had in my head but not written down anywhere. I also think at some point I'll fill out this sheet for Amelia as well.
I also did more work on the script for another project of mine. I'll give another little teaser for it in that it will be heavily centered on LENS. I've got the entire first section of it outlined out, just now working on fleshing out the script for it. Maybe my finale for the month will be fully showing off some stuff from this project.
Music for today will be the theme I use for another of the characters featured in this project.
