Like Aran is the casual affection, arm slung round your shoulders in front of everyone just to keep you close to him and grounded, and he smells so clean with an undertone of spice (one of my guy friends recently started wearing the leather and cookie’s lynx deodorant and hear me out, it’s actually really good and exactly what i would expect Aran to smell like). The type of hug that you can’t help but bury your face in his shoulder alksfjks he’s literally laughing with his friends but still squeezing your shoulder at the same time to check that you’re okay PLS

Bokuto? So excited to see you literally all of the time, does that kind of ‘hugs you and then rocks you back and forth’ kind of hugs yk. Just a literal beacon of joy, especially after he has a match - practice or not- he loves scooping you into his arms afterwards and talking about the match. Even when he’s tired, it’s the same thing but 10x softer, a cute little grin and then engulfing you with literally his entire body.

Asahi my love, my life. He’s so hesitant to initiate affection when you first get to know each other and then he just becomes so in tune with your emotions that he knows exactly what hug you need and when you need them. Definitely more of a cuddle person than a hug person because he just doesn’t want to let you go. Always rests his head on your shoulder or the top of your head and wraps his arms around your shoulders and pls he probably smells like so soft and comforting like walking into a bakery or something I’m literally in love.

Love cafe by @chocosvt this jeonghan piece!!!!! AHHHHHHHH! the whole piece is amazing, but there were some scenes that were especially sweet and endearing. i remember sending a friend screenshots of dialogue freaking out.

i was so excited to share @by-moonflower-deactivated202401 bc their writing is incredible, piercing, and feels so nostalgic, but oh shit 😭😭 just learned they deactivated ☹️

book recs:

i’ve read almost everything by taylor jenkins reid, and i’ll recommend her books forever.

last year i read the book of azrael by amber v nicole and loved it. it’s a dark fantasy romance. i haven’t read the sequel yet.

this year, so far, i’ve read days at the morisaki bookshop. it’s a quick read but very sweet and comforting, with life lessons just beneath the surface. i’ve also read heavenly bodies by imani erriu. it had me screaming and kicking my feet. i posted about it here a few days ago. i’m reading the sequel right now.

dub finding ceremony by alexis pauline gumbs is a book i read my senior year of college, and it inspired a lot of writing for my independent studies prose class. braiding sweetgrass by robin wall kimmerer is another beautiful read.

I can say that this chapter doesn’t take place in Colombia but in DC and Laredo and that it starts the second arc of Secret Smile which is after the main canon plot and was the original starting point for the fic when I came up with the idea.

hi 🥺 firstly, i’m so sorry you’re experiencing this/feeling this way 🫂 i hate that this is something so many of us have gone though

even though it can be hard, i think communication is so important in a friendship. historically, i’ve been someone who speaks up, and i’ve also been someone who never says anything and tries to work through it on my own. the latter feels way too heavy, and i’m trying not to keep it all in anymore. i think the way the conversation goes can actually be such a good thing to find out. a friend who’s receptive and makes space for your feelings is obviously someone you want to keep around if it’s all worked though. it’s like a little reboot happens. someone who gets defensive and mean may not be a person you want to continue having a friendship with.

this is a conversation i always approach with as much kindness as possible. i make it known that i love the person so much and then focus on using “i” statements. i don’t want to fill in the blanks for them.

“you mean so much to me, but i’ve been feeling ___ because ____.” ask questions too. if it’s a good, loving conversation then both people should be comfortable to share how they’re feeling and what’s been going on. and it’s ok if your words aren’t perfect.

i hope this was at least a little bit helpful 😭 i’m sending you love, and i hope it all goes well. i don’t want you to keep feeling sad 🥺
