Leo: WHEN DID HE MAKE A CHILD
Donnie: HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW
Leo: AA

Donnie: [replying to a photo of Asuto] this guy's mom is dead

Leo: a
Leo: mom
Leo: his mom
Leo: is so
Leo: so prettu
Leo: y*
Donnie: ikr
Leo: im losing my mind
--------------------------------------------------
Donnie: [the clip of Zeus vs Ogre in the movie where the whole Zeus team is absolutely demolished and is on the ground while Aphrodi is the only one standing]
Leo: the fuck
Donnie: These guys aren't dead but they look like dead what the hell
Leo: soccer
Leo: how is this soccer what
Donnie: Ngl I'm questioning that too

Donnie: There's this one Hissatsu Technique
Donnie: where a guy summons penguins straight up from the ground
Leo: oenguin
Donnie: fr penguin
Leo: i love penguin
--------------------------------------------------
at some point we talked about the Ogre movie so 🧍🟧/ 🟧 = Mamoru, 🧍🟥/🟥 = Kanon, 🧘‍♀️ = Leo
...
Donnie: Then just as Ogre's captain (Baddap) is going to finish off the orange headband boy (Endou), the man's (Killard) job is finally done
Donnie: So the red headband boy (Kanon) is finally able to intervene
Donnie: I'll find the clip hold on
Leo: 🧍🟧 🤛🧍
Leo: 🧍🟧 🧍🟥 ❌ 🤛🧍
Donnie: found it
Donnie: [the clip of Kanon stopping Dead Spear]
Leo: WHAT THE FUCK
Leo: EHAT IS THIS
Leo: WHAT IS THIS
Leo: [replying to Leo: "🧍🟧 🧍🟥 ❌ 🤛🧍"] LITERALLY THIS
Donnie: [replying to Leo: "EHAT IS THIS"] me when I first watched Inazuma Eleven
Donnie: [replying to Leo: "LITERALLY THIS"] real
--------------------------------------------------
*a little bit of Leo having a crisis here*
...
Donnie: Okay so the red headband boy had intervened right
Donnie: The momentary dialog is this
Donnie: 🟥: hi
🟧: ...
🟥: say hello
Leo: 🟧💭: what in the fuck what is going on why are we here the fuck are you huh
Donnie: 🟥💭: why did they make me go 80 years in the past
Leo: 🧘‍♀️💭: wdym 80 years
--------------------------------------------------

One of the things I've been always the most weirded out by Big Waves is the fact that despite their australian nationality, both main and reserve keeper have both motifs in either title or name about greek mythology. Summarizing, Jean's called the 'true Poseidon' in most of his profiles, and Quincy while referencing real-life seahorses could also refer to the mythical creature Hippocampus that pulls off the chariot of the sea god. (This could be a coincidence, BUT COME ON, it all gets into place way too well).
But now the question comes into place, why greek mythology?
In my personal opinion, I think Level 5 just wanted to reference a sea god; so they went with the most known Poseidon. Sure, he might be greek, but after him there aren't many other water gods or deities known to the japanese public, and specially when it comes to actual australian (First Nation) mythos (Which are all obscure unfortunately). I guess that with that set they quickly realized about the seahorse/hippocampus (And the irl animal's relation to coral reefs) and BAM. Perfect reserve keeper motif. Let's all ignore the fact that there's already both a character and a Keshin named after the sea god, because that's another whole topic for later.
And here's on the superficial level of why; but now I'd like to add here a little headcanon that I got from this idea. First off, curiosity time: Greek people are one of Australia's biggest migratory groups, having come to the country since the 1800s and still having a strong community/culture to this day.
So, here's my proposal: Jean and Quincy's references to greek mythology might be just thematic choices, but I really like the idea in-universe of both either being or descending from Greek Australians.
Now in more detail:
Quincy's mother (Demi, original surname being Samaras) descends from greek people that had been living on WA for a long time already. Their story wasn't perfect at all, and in some cases they had to go through difficult situations due to discrimination and prior violent riots, but their resilience made them be able to persist until this day. Though while they were a bit more lax on passing down their culture unlike other GA communities, she and her parents still like to honour their traditions, blending within the already vibrant celebrations of the german Horst. In fact, whenever they get to visit Grandma Samaras in Kalgoorlie, they always take a stop in a nearby greek cafe installed a long time ago. Said place also sells homemade greek yoghurt, a specialty recipe passed down generations. And one of Quincy's favorite foods!
Now as for Jean, I tend to see his father to be part greek, though more disconnected with the culture due to few factors. Add ALSO his absence from his son's life since he was young, and... :( Unlike Quincy, Jean barely cared about the mediterranean country at all; only knowing few things thanks to his caretaker Jonah and his favorite "japanese cartoon" ever: The Great Tales of Greece. But after that, Jean just couldn't care less about what or where he comes from.
But I honestly like this idea as a way to make both keepers bond with each other. Jean shows a surprisingly big knowledge about greek mythology (Blame the anime mentioned earlier), which makes Quincy curious and a chance for him to share his interests. And maybe later on as adults they'll find out Jean's greek side, making Quincy want to help him "reconnect" with it in a way or another...

does anybody have any worldbuilding tips. bc like. ugh lemme explain my predicament
so i wanna work on one way dream right. im very eager to get into the meat of the story and make it A Thing. i want it to be A Thing so so bad, like mirrors is a thing. but to make it a thing, i have to have characters, because the way i make stories is to make characters and then build the plot around those characters--its just easier for me that way. BUT, to have CHARACTERS, i have to have a world to put them into. mirrors already had a pre-established world--the dragon ball world. all the systems were there already, as well as races, lore, deities, power structures, etc. but with one way dream i gotta do all that shit from scratch and i have honestly no idea where i want to go with it yet..
originally i had gone into owd thinking that it was going to be my Big Universe that had all the things i wanted to have in it. angels/demons/deities, aliens, fighting, friendship, transformations, powers, multiple universes...lots of stuff that mirrors already has. but now that im actually working on owd, im starting to feel like maybe i dont Need all that stuff in the world?? b/c its NOT mirrors. its its own thing apart from mirrors, its different. honestly at this point its more like sonic but im trying to make it different from sonic too. there are elements from lots of stuff i want to use but i dont want it to be too much like any of them, i want it to be a nice mix.
i dont know what i want to use and carry over from mirrors and other pieces of media i enjoy like dragon ball and ina11 and sonic and so on. i feel like maybe also me feeling like it doesnt need all that stuff is bc its Starting to feel like sonic world which is fine on its own but its not necessarily what i want owd to be. i really have to figure out what i want <:( its so hard..
anyway erm. tl;dr i dont know what i want the world structure/lore to be b/c i want it to be so many different things and i dont know how to make it all work in a way that i like but isnt too much like other individual medias i guess

I really feel the need to scream into the void about the suffering my cowriter is subjecting me to with their "first draft" of the Ina11 Twitter AU.
Like who else am I supposed to vent to about the pain I am experiencing, besides my cowriter, who is the one holding the knife. The AU isn't anywhere near presentation because we skipped right past the beginning and right to the middle where between 2 practice matches, the lore has been updated so avatars can now go berserk, we ruined GO Teikoku even more than I thought was possible, and my faves are going INSANE and SO AM I!
I need to make more like out of context tweets and dms to share here. I will not elaborate on any of them. Y'all just have to wait until I start posting the fic.
This was meant to be a "crack treated seriously", just for fun sorta thing, with the chapters being posted out of order.
Blame my cowriter, they decided to create plot and torture me and all the characters. T-T

mar... can u catch me up on inazuma lore because i dont know very much about endou *smiling brightly*
hi lab yes of course im no expert on endou tbh but i will try my best!!
as far as inazuma characters go endou doesnt have too much going on but i think its a good thing for him. hes THE protagonist, raimons captain who sets the whole thing into motion. hes also the grandson of a very famous, legendary soccer player and coach who was the goalkeeper for the national team at some point and after retiring coached another legendary-to-be team which the series is named after (though these guys were middle schoolers)(and also never won any competitions... it was kageyamas fault he made them have a bus accident and stuff (he was also a middle schooler)). but his grandpa passed away before he was born (kageyama again, around ambiguously the same age..."ambiguously" because i can never tell if it was from the bus accident or some other incident. but shits crazy) so he never really knew him, and thats kind of why he picks up soccer: its the one connection he has to his dead grandpa. (though his mom is really against it at first because she thinks its what killed her dad)
now of course he doesnt play only to feel close to him he genuinely develops an intense passion &love for the game (while staying hilariously oblivious about everything going on in the soccer world. he doesnt know any famous players or anything). the first part of ina11 is about how he wants to bring his ragtag soccer team to the top by winning this one famous middle school soccer competition its pretty simple. i feel like its kind of refreshing in a way that his motivations are fully about his passion of the game despite the crazy plot with kageyama, while still feeling like a part of the whole thing since kageyama "murdered" his grandpa (hes not actually dead but we dont know this until much later) and bc of his intense grudge against him he wants to crush endou and raimon specifically so fucking bad. but it never really becomes about stopping kageyama for endou which is nice to me. he just really loves ball
endous not the brightest guy around, but his pure, free love of the game and very genuine & trusting disposition inspire everyone to rally behind him and root for him. i think the way he trusts and believes in people is definitely one of his strong points and being given that sort of support or a second chance like this really helped/saved a handful of characters in the series. hes just a guy you can help but yearn to be friends with or play ball genuinely with :) (but while his tendency to give people a second chance or trust suspicious people as long as they love soccer might make him look like an airhead its important to note that he still has limits and there are still things he considers unforgivable. i think that makes him feel more real and also seeing him get angry about certain things makes his trust in and ability to forgive other characters hit that much harder instead of being mere words)
now coming back to his grandpa. a huge part of his character imo is following in his grandpas footsteps, kind of inheriting his legacy by learning all the moves his grandpa came up with, training the way he did, etc... and quickly after the first game/season were asked the question of whether its good for him to continue just imitating his grandpa. what is..........interesting though, is that the 2nd and 3rd game kind of both deal with it... but in completely different ways?
ie2 proposes pretty early on that being a goalie isnt the only path open to endou. that just because his grandfather was a goalkeeper doesnt mean that endou has to be as well. and then later we meet tachimukai, a cute little first year whos a big fan of endou and even switched from midfielder to goalkeeper to imitate him. the thing is, as we are soon explicitly told, tachimukai has a LOT more natural talent as a goalkeeper than endou does, and he masters his grandpas ultimate move like its nothing. he was born to play this position basically, which eventually leads to tachimukai being asked to play gk for raimon instead of endou. and endou has very mixed feelings about this, because while hes genuinely happy for tachimukai, he cant say that hes delighted about leaving the position that connected him to his grandpa (and he also practiced that ultimate move on his own in secret at night, even though tachimukai already had it so the team had no use for a second player to master it). but at the same time, hes grown close enough to his team and as a player that he doesnt need to play the same position as his grandpa to feel connected to him like hes still got their shared love of soccer. ok this is getting long but basically i love this because endou ends up growing a lot and setting off on his own unique path and it also leaves a significant role for tachimukai to play (who otherwise never gets to do anything since there cant be two goalies in one match, and endou is the protag).
and it couldve continued to be explored in the next game since instead of going back to a school vs school type thing, where endou and tachimukai wouldve faced each other as goalkeepers on opposite sides, its a world tournament so just like ie2, players from all over japan coming together as one team representing the country. but.... ie3 completely abandons that idea and instead benches tachimukai forever, because endou is back as a goalie and the way to deal with that issue of only following in his grandpas footsteps instead gets turned into a "endou needs to come up with his own special move" thing. and i mean the way its written isnt bad or anything but i certainly like it a lot less than what ie2 had going on that involved tachimukai!!!!
errmm i might have gone a little off topic there and also its getting really long and i dont really have much more to say. my memory of s3/ie3 is pretty fuzzy atp cuz its been a while so i cant say much about what kind of character development he gets cuz i didnt really pay attention (its the kidou disease). but he does meet his grandpa again. erm ok thats enough i hope this was informative enough !!! hes a sweet lad

ugh don’t you hate it when you try/tried on MULTIPLE occasions to get into something because it looked cool and/or you had friends who really liked it, but. it just didn’t happen for you
and then you’re stuck with a bunch of extremely vague knowledge of it because you were like knee deep into it before you decided to give up

do you know any lesser known medias (such as ina11, transformers, what u usually like) as u have lots of great interests when it comes to shows, etc and im interested in hearing more? im trying to get into more things and its kind of hard finding more media.
oh i’m flattered to hear that! hmm i don’t consume very much media and tend to just get into one thing and hyperfixate on that for months at a time but let’s see...
kaitou joker - a really fun manga turned anime (i haven’t read the manga but i’ve heard people say the anime is better) about flashy bright-colored phantom thieves. wacky, super entertaining concepts, coupled with a surprising amount of depth and emotion. it’s zany and childlike and EVERYONE has a tragic backstory. in any case it’s really fun and engaging, i don’t post about it much here bc it’s not super on my radar but it’s an absolutely underrated gem of a show (and probably less popular than other stuff i’m going to post about)
elsword - i’m only into this one secondhand and mostly just piggyback off my friends’ posts but this one is a korean mmo, i don’t know much about how the actual game goes but the characters are all super compelling from what i hear about them from my friends. the character designs are all really good as well
lobotomy corporation - again, only into this one secondhand. it’s a game inspired by scp stuff where you work for a corporation in a post-apocalyptic world that extracts energy from monsters, and you have to allocate resources, appease the monsters, contain them when they rampage, choose how many of your employees to sacrifice, etc. it sounds really good and fun and i love the characters. i really wanna play it but i don’t have the time ;_;
megaman x - okay so this isn’t exactly unknown but like transformers it’s not, like, in the mainstream fandom spotlight so i guess it counts. really good video game series about robots at war that you can analyze for all sorts of deep themes about morality, pacifism, etc, etc. also x and zero are gay. stan axl
gundam build fighters - the gundam franchise is really famous but this installment less so, it takes place in a world where the rest of the gundam franchise is fictional and people do battles with their little gundam plastic model merch. obviously it’s very, exists to sell toys, but like yugioh it has a really fun uplifting vibe of people just being passionate about their hobbies and having fun with that, it’s really sweet
kamen rider - again mostly secondhand hbfdgj can you tell i’m reeeeally bad at getting around to watching/playing things but i like this one. japanese live-action superhero show that’s been ongoing since like the 60s, every year there’s a new series with a new plot and main character. it seems really fun a lot of people are into it. i like ooo and w because i love ankh and philip. insanely popular in japan so idk if it counts as lesser known but yknow
danball senki - by the same company and director as inazuma eleven and it’s a lot like inazuma eleven except with tiny remote-controlled fighting robots instead of soccer. i’m not very far in but already they’ve used these tiny remote-controlled robots to stop an assassination attempt on the prime minister sfhgldg akihiro hino at it again. i only know like three people who have seen it but everyone says it’s super good so i’d check it out
yugioh spinoffs - idk what you followed me for so maybe you know these already but while the original yugioh is super popular the spinoffs are less known, there’s still a huge fanbase but they aren’t really in the collective nerd consciousness as much, anyway they’re all really good. i recommend gx, 5ds and zexal (OH GOD ZEXAL) the most, arc v is universally panned as a disappointment, have heard mixed reviews on vrains but i’m not very big on it. but gx 5ds and ZEXAL!!! are really really good (gx has a loooot of filler in the first half though and zexal also kind of does)
princess tutu - I KEEP FORGETTING PRINCESS TUTU because it’s not really an Interest in that i get the urge to create fanworks for it but it is one of my favorite shows of all time, it’s about fairytale characters who are trapped in a story made by an author who loves tragic endings, and need to escape the tragic ending and forge a new one. it’s also about ballet, and ducks. i admit a lot of me liking it is because it hits on a whole bunch of my personal favorite tropes/aesthetics but it’s also really good in general
animorphs - OH MY GOD I FORGOT ANIMORPHS. please read animorphs. i know it’s a meme to make fun of the covers but it’s genuinely one of the best ya series of all time it gets soooo deep into exploring and deconstructing all the realistic implications of the whole “plucky teens fight an alien invasion” setup, fair warning it gets BRUTAL and there is an entire genre of tumblr posts that are just people who only know the covers discovering how brutal it is but it’s sooo good. you can read it legally for free online
vsinger - i guess this counts? a line of vocaloids made by shanghai henian that have more lore and background to them than the other vocaloids who are kind of just a design, a name and an age. like for instance tianyi is an alien who can detect peoples emotions using music and can only communicate in song. so you have a bit more character stuff to play around with. i’m mostly just there for longya he’s sexy. gatling is a good song
also i’m really interested in this webtoon called ga dam hang seol it looks so good and interesting but the translation team consists entirely of one friend of mine who is always really busy and so the translation is only 5 chapters and updates very sporadically cries but just in case you’re interested you can read the comic here and the translation is here
well i think that’s about it that’s the accumulation of the past few years’ interests! also in a few years be on the lookout for a very cool and interesting novel whose title i haven’t decided on yet appearing on tapas (poses)

after a few hours? of having plenty on my plate, i finally got to finish this! everyone, please welcome izuhara nanane (泉原 凪々音) !! (she/he)
“a brave defending midfielder for outei tsukinomiya. she's gained quite the fanbase for her beauty and her iconic, ever-unchanging stoic expression.”
“he grew up having to abide by his parents' strict conditions to meet their expectations, which eventually led to him developing a habit of burying his feelings away. ever since meeting ▇▇▇ , however, things began to change…?” (ps. name's censored because that's another oc... hehe)
her design's based off of a picrew i made of her as well! go check it out, it's pretty cool :] (i did have to alter a lot of the colors from the references i used, though..)
