Getting another batch of the rainbow fabric worked on as of 1/5/24, going to use this batch to make a bunch more of the little zipper bags and some new *experiments* I'm hoping turn out cool!
Have some loom ASMR!
If you have weaving questions, leave them on this post and I'll do a video at the loom answering the best I can!
can we talk about this man who held onto his dream of creating an amusement park throughout his childhood? who studied the intricacies of it all so he could one day build one?
okay, now let's talk about the attention to detail. the shops filled with merchandise. the turnstiles hooked up to a little jingle. the placement of color and, subsequently, the awareness of where to leave it out. the backdrop of the castle.
but most importantly, let's talk about the gift that minecraft is to passionate creators. could Scar have created something in Scarland's likeness using another game or website? possibly. but would he have found as much joy in it all? would he have had that same enthusiasm throughout the project? would we have found him walking through the road he built rambling about how much he loves the build?
i'm in love with the connection between minecraft and its players. it's a game that lets dreams come to fruition, that welcomes creativity and rewards the children in us that wanted to just see what we could create.
or maybe it's not that deep. but can we talk about Scarland?
interesting lore moment with the francophone yesterday (as in, it personally gave me brainworms) ft. qétoiles’ horrible, no good, stupid (lack of) self-preservation . subs in English, transcript below the cut
All spoken in French — translated into English subtitles
[Video transcript:
Etoiles: And, actually, I have a theory. Basically what happened is that I’ve just returned from a mission from Cucurucho.
Antoine: And what was the mission?
Etoiles: To do a dungeon, and to recover something from the dungeon.
Antoine: And what was this “something”?
Etoiles: And the “something” was a book that sorta says that I’m a test subject.
Antoine: A test subject?!
Baghera: What’s up with your arm? You’ve got a coded arm.
Etoiles: Uh, it’s from holding the shield, basically.
Baghera: Ahhh
(Pause)
Antoine: Watch out that it doesn’t contaminate you, or else you’ll turn into a code, man.
Etoiles: That’s impossible, man, I can’t be a code.
Antoine: That’s what the old codes said before becoming codes, you know.
Etoiles: No— well, we’ve never spoken.
Baghera: Maybe you shouldn’t be using the shield as much then, no?
Etoiles: Well, as it stands, I’ve been using it for a really long time, and my mind is still healthy, honestly. And the proof is—
Baghera: Well, half of his face took the brunt of it instead.
Etoiles: Yeah, but it’s not all there is, you know.
(Pause)
Baghera: Let me worry, Etoiles, right now.
Etoiles: You’re right. You’re right! But everything’s going well, I’m doing very, very well—
Antoine: It’s true that you look a bit sick.
Etoiles: Uh, yeah, for the past seven years, it’s a chronic illness, it happened—
Antoine: No, but not this one, the other— you seem even sicker, still.
Etoiles: Yeah, okay. Yeah but no, I’m fine. No, no, it’s fine, honestly.
I’ve had this Imodna piece half done since the last episode and I’ve been meaning to finish it but my arm has been killing me for the past month and I wasn’t feeling it so idk if I’ll bother. I liked the sketch though so I wanna share it at least :)
shin godzilla and minus one are rlly interesting comparisons bc one is harkoning to back to the original in the sense that its reacting to a recent tragedy and how it affected it people, vs minus one which is a retrospective look on the horrific event that inspired the first one instead. yet both at their heart criticize the government that wont help its people after the fact, and remind us that is up to Us to help each other
Remember, in the JJK anime, Satoru has a plan called Formation B whenever Megumi is getting hit on by a random girl. So, does he have the same plan in Zos in case if Shiki is getting hit on by a random guy?
Rewatching the earlier, and even pilots episodes, of Ninjago are so WILD man. First of all, you notice all the things that are just plain forgotten about or pushed aside in later seasons. Kai originally being the main character, sure, we all know that one, but Cole was heavily implied to be, or become, the leader of the Ninja, that was Cole’s thing. Zane was automatically described with having a sixth seer sense, when nowadays it shows up very, very infrequently. Lloyd used to basically be the Avatar, does anyone remember that? This kid was just the Avatar.
And then you remember the silly things. Like how the skeleton army was once a threat. Like...the skeletons. We battled a giant snake, smaller snakes, robot armies, sentient video games, Garmadon a billion different times, the Overlord, Oni...and the skeletons used to be a worthy adversary. The skeletons.
Did you all remember that Cole’s earth dragon used to...breathe earth? I’ve been forced to remember. Rocky used to breathe earth as a form of attack. It was shown through brown swirly wisps in that beautiful, incredibly shitty 2011 effect. The Underworld used to be implied to be the place where all dead people went, or at least the bad ones. We never heard of a Departed Realm. Do we remember the time Cole had a scene that was a direct parody of Michael Jackson? I sure do. Genuinely the highlight simply because I don’t know how to describe the emotion I felt upon seeing it.
I love this so much. It's the best PV they've produced so far and I'm so happy to see them pour this much dedication into the Culling Game. They captured the barriers looming over the horizon perfectly. It reminds me of the movie Arrival or the Angels (particularly Ramiel) in Evangelion. The music is also so beautiful, but also foreboding. I'm gonna watch this a million times and burn it into my brain until the Culling Game gets animated. In general, the music in the PVs for the manga volumes is amazing and I always hoped the anime would take some inspiration from them (season 2 sounds promising so far). The effects for the different fights and techniques also looked really nice, especially Takako's distortion and Piercing Blood.
Can't wait to see what else they have in store for the following volumes. It would look so cool, if they did something similar for the merger curse or Tengen's sunyata barrier, the Tomb of the Stars or Kenjaku's domain.
Vol 23 is really doing everything to cement itself as my favourite jjk volume
I read this scene and immediately started drawing, I haven't even finished the chapter yet.
This is a bit more detailed than I can usually get out because my afternoon plans were cancelled, but still not my best. I'll get you something really detailed one of these days
