SABBC is back, after what has been the longest two months of almost silence, but this silence hasn't come easily. Every now and then life kicks you in the teeth, it takes your nearest loved ones around you to convince you that you've actually been kicked, that its going to hurt and you need to slow down. I've ran SABBC for 6 years. I've physically worked myself into the ground on several occasions, a lot of it was my own doing; touring and living in a way that didn't promote a healthy lifestyle for a designer and screen printer, especially not a business owner. I've always been able to pick myself up off the ground after being to the hospital or doctors and carry on, as it's mostly been physical. When all you concentrate on is work, working 7am until the early hours, designing, printing, researching, dealing with accounts etc, etc..you forget to realise that in the six years, especially in a creative trade, you've survived some dark times. Friends have come and gone, a lot of friends have lived and died, and at times you need to stop and reflect on not only the positives, but also how to accept and deal with the negatives. Throughout the years the one thing I haven't looked after is my mental health. Around two months ago I hit that wall, admittedly I crumbled. My closest friends will find this a shock to read as I've hidden it from them. The hardest thing was admitting that I needed help, even harder was accepting the help offered. But I have and for others out there, help is always available. Check in on your friends. Don't bury your head in the sand. Talk to each other. Most importantly speak openly and freely about how you are feeling. All orders are dispatched, check you mailboxes, junk folders etc. If they aren't with you now, they will be with you in the next few days. SABBC IS FUCKING BACK.
