Dear My Brain, I do NOT need to do another massive Trigun AU right now. However, just to make you happy, I'll toss out my ideas here for "maybe someday." Okay, I'm on a Fallout-kick lately. Good show for my games, yes? A rare pretty decent live action adaptation of a set of video games. Definitely nods to fans / players there. Also been doing a little playing of Fallout 4. (Fallout 3 is the only game of the series I've played all the way through main quest sadly (maybe I'll download the classics from Steam...) Anyway, I've played with this notion for Trigun before - but only in the "if they were players." I made perks / gameplay styles for the main characters. So, what are you doing, brain? Why are you starting to come up with ideas for an actual story for me to write as a crossover?!!! Especially when I do not know if there are enough people who like both properties AND read fanfiction to be interested in a crossover AU / fusion fic - then again, I tend to write things primarily for my own delight, anyway. I was telling myself "no, these two things are already too similar, there's really no need," but then came the idea that "no, there are some things unique enough to the Fallout setting that you could really have fun with the Trigun characters wandering a post nuclear North America rather than Planet Gunsmoke / No Man's Land." I could even interchangeably refer to the Wasteland as No Man's Land... Okay, Brain, so you're telling me that in this fusion universe, Vault-Tec had a subsidiary that worked closely with the budding U.S. space program, which if I am not mistaken, is canon (that satellite-dish quest in Fallout 3 and that experimental for space-colonisation front Vault concealing the real experiment in the Nuka-World expansion for 4). SEEDS was sort of its own separate thing, more benevolent than the Vaults and free from their wild secret experiments. Their mission was open: Developing a new, yet profitable, source of power for the cooperate overlords to profit from, being a failsafe for re-terraforming the Earth in the event of a nuclear war, and being a study for close-quarter scientist-living for potential space colonies. SEEDS Vault 05 (as distinct from Vault 5, SEEDS gets a different class) saw the successful bioengineering of life forms they called Plants. They were actually developed shortly before the war of 2077, but were not considered perfected. After the bombs dropped and the doors sealed, further study showed the Plants' potential as essentially living G.E.C.Ks (Garden of Eden Creation Kits). A living answer to the G.E.C.K, water-chips, cold-fusion... Even a potential way to divest from the atomic energy that America had been depending on since the end of WWII. (Fallout, for non-players, is an AU of reality diverging at WWII's end). And then Independents are born. Rem Saverem, a rogue scientist who rebels against Vault-Tec's lack of ethics managed to smuggle out the first Independent. Poor Tesla, being a little girl she had to send out, but the Hell of the Wastes were literally a better shot for her survival than for her to stay in the SEEDS-Vault. Sometime later, a pair of twin boys are born and Rem manages to convince the crew not to make them into test subjects. Until she can't. Cue big escape scene where she gets Vash and Nai out of the vault and dies in a hail of bullets right before them as guards cut her down and come after them... And so starts the journey of pair of living McGuffins who can either save the world or destroy it in search of their lost sister. Nai eventually becomes Millions Knives, a brutal Wasteland warlord bent on the destruction of humankind. Vash is on the run with bounties upon bounties upon him. He meets a ghoul named Wolfwood, dependant upon a certain kind of Chem to heal his wounds and to keep him from going feral and a couple of reporter-ladies from one of the larger settlement-cities intent upon uncovering Wasteland mysteries.

Entry 3 from the Diary of Holly Joestar

Mama and Papa went away today. They left before the sun came up so I was still asleep, but they told me goodbye last night. Mama said they are gonna go to Meksico to look for really old stuff cuz that’s thier job, and she said she was gonna bring back a present for me but I was still sad last night. Papa’s still home, and I love Papa, but I think he misses them too. Before I went to sleep, Papa told me a story about when he was little, so I wanna write down his story. A long time ago Papa liveded in Meksico with Nonno and Grampa and Uncle Sanna, and they lived in a cave in the jungle. Uncle Sanna was a little baby so Nonno told Papa to watch him while he and Grampa were gone. Papa said he would and he tried to, but when he turnd around Uncle Sanna was gone! Papa ran into the jungle looking for him. He searched everywhere! But Uncle Sanna was so smalll and really sneeky too, so he coudn’t find him. Then Papa heard a bird yell super loud and crash krsshh flew away through the trees. He looked up and he saw Uncle Sanna up in the tree! He tried to climb up but Uncle Sanna didn’t wanna move and dug his rib bones into the tree. (Papa said Uncle Sanna was stubburn, wich means he said NO a lot). Papa got so mad he wanned to leave him there, but he knew Grampa would be mad at him for not waching his baby brother so he could not leave. He pulled and pulled and pulled until he pulled Uncle Sanna off the tree, but he pulled so hard they fell! Thank good ness, Nonno was standing right under the tree and caugt them both. He said that he and Grampa had come home and saw both of them were missing, so they got scared and went looking for them. Papa was embarased and asked if Nonno and Grampa was mad at him, but Nonno just laughed and said he was more worried, and Grampa was worried too so they had to go home. I dunno how the story ended becuase I think I fell asleep before Papa finished it. I don’t remember if Grampa was worried about Papa and Uncle Sanna or if he was mad. I know what Grampa looks like when he’s mad. I dunno what he looks like when he’s worried.

Fearne’s growth is so fascinating to me
“I missed you for that period of time.” She says. Both pointing towards her Fey long-livedness and how time is funky. A weird soup. But also how she’s becoming something..more.. something vulnerable, something more human (mortal).
AND she’s saying this to Laudna. One of the only ones there who KNOWS how funky time is. And knows death. And what it’s like to outlive people. Who knows what it’s like to be Not Quite Human. Not Quite Mortal.
And yet here they both are. Letting themselves be vulnerable with each other. Even if it’s dangerous. Even if it hurts.

Honestly I think all the cottagecore hate was kind of funny because the concept genuinely reads like one of my shitposts.
cotraegcore is bad harfmul becuase, an old cottage looks like COLONIALISM houses that they used in COLONALISM. if you want to liveding in a old house WATCH OUT: its colonism looks so much like colonism i would say

Y'know, Yaoshi makes me think about something.
More precisely, how in at least two of Hoyo's games, there's some sort of downside to immortality or long-livedness in general.
When it comes to those of Teyvat, we've got erosion. Which, even if they specifics of how it exactly works (no thanks to Genshin's somewhat clunky worldbuilding...) we do something of an idea of the effects it has on the afflicted. Anywhere from spontaneously forgetting the name and/or face of a close friend or loved one, to just straight up madness.
Then in Star Rail, we have the Mara, which we have a bit better of an understanding of. Where it can start out as going a bit nutty, to slowly mutating into a half-tree person (say what you will about the Abundance, but you cannot deny that the Mara-struck's drip is immaculate 😩). Tbh I really look forwards to when we start encountering the races that are apart of the Denizens of Abundance, since some of the ones that we have data entries on so far sound very interesting.
you expected ME to deny that the mara-struck have drip? silly wrym i would never deny that 🙏🙏🙏 /lh
NO BUT FR I NEED THE ASTRAL EXPRESS TO START ENCOUNTERING YAOSHI'S FOLLOWERS OUTSIDE OF THE DISCIPLES OF SANCTUS MEDICUS. IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE. I AM BEGGING ON MY KNEES FOR YAOSHI LORE ATP
i think about this all the time:
"Rumors started to spread that certain hunters who roam between worlds regard Yaoshi as evil and their creations as abominations. The loyal Denizens of Abundance will not tolerate such blatant blasphemy. The accusers who slander god will pay."
that last line FUCKS. the accusers who slander GOD (not a god, but just GOD dude) will pay?????? DUDE. YAOSHI'S FOLLOWERS DON'T EVEN GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE OTHER AEONS THOSE MFS ARE SO INSANE YAOSHI IS THE GOD TO THEM yaoshi's followers are so abnormal about them....... me too though fr /HJ /LH
i am STARVING for yaoshi lore. how do their followers tell the story about what happened with the alliance? with biases, obviously, but that's just like how the xianzhou alliance tells the story. so... what do the abominations of abundance have to say about it? kind of want to hear it from an objective 3rd party too. where did yaoshi come from? what were they before they were an aeon? that last question goes for all the aeons tbh do they just.... spawn. Or. is it more complicated than that..... PLEASE I AM STARVINGGGGGGGG

Happy Blorbo Blursday!! ❤️❤️
I’ll restrain myself from asking you to talk about every single character in HOM because I love them that much and go with one I don’t know a lot about yet. (leaving the ones about Krieve’s courting later hehe)
What is up with this immortal Queen? What kind of personality she is, what kind of relationship she has with the others? What the other characters think about her and what she thinks about Jaisse? Also, if it’s not too spoilery, what was her motivation to make herself immortal through the Hour?
Please gush as much as you want!! ❤️
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Timiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Blorbo Blursday!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for the ask!!! I always get so giddy about your excitement!!!! I'm touched!!!!! 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️The queen is definitely a fascinating character to talk about!!! Not all good, not bad, just very complicated!
Okay, so the queen!!!! Before the Hour, 100 years ago, Camile (name still pending, not sure if it totally fits the character even if I like the name itself) was a solider in the Correlaine army (back when they had a tranditional army before they had to put all their marital prowess into...you know...fighting monsters once the Hour happened). She was very dutiful, very caring, and lived to protect the ones she loved.
Then the Hour happened, in all its abruptness. Amid the chaos, when she was able to quickly piece together that OH! MAGIC?? REAL MAGIC??? IS A THING NOW???? She realized that the number one way she would want to suddenly use these divine(????) powers is to make it so that she could be strong enough to protect others, to be able to not fear putting her life on the line in defense of the weak! Most people who were able to grasp magic during the Hour weren't able to use it in the exact, specific way to make yourself permanently immortal, so that drive to protect others indefinitely is what really made it "work". (The magic during the Hour was more or less limitless, but very finicky in how it manifested if you tried to will into reality something especially big or powerful!)
During the events of the novel, 100 years later, she's been elected queen for about uhhhhh 50 years now? She's incredibly popular with her people (hence why she keeps getting elected), and still cares very much for her land. She has the commitment, care, and experience to be a great leader, supported of course by her elected advisors.
Because of her long-livedness, however, she is beginning to somewhat lose touch with individuals, looking mostly towards the long term rather than the short term (and for her, the "short term" could count for like....an entire normal lifetime). She's definitely not dismissive nor does she deliberately dehumanize others; it's simply a side effect of one being alive for that long and seeing time stretched out before you. She's met (and lost) so many people. After the Hour and with advances in magic every day, she's seen civilization change (and continue to change) at a rapid pace, so it's hard for her to stay "in the moment" at all times. Her family certainly loves her, and she loves them and does her best to keep track of them as individuals, but there is always that weird tension as she's been, and will be, around for her children's entire life, but they are only in a fraction of her own.

[ CROWN ]
"I'm afraid this type of accessory won't last, so you won't be able to wear it long..." Tiki says as she places it atop Sophia's hair. The older manakete adjusts it with a few gentle strokes of her hand, careful not to startle her, "...but that only means that we ought to cherish it while we still have it."
Tiki takes a step back, admiring her handiwork, gives her a smile. "It looks wonderful on you."
midsommar 2022 prompts
A flower begins to wilt as soon as its stem is cut. Life begins its march towards death as soon as it begins. When Tiki tells Sophia that the flowers won’t last, it’s more than just a commentary on the short-livedness of flowers. It’s a gentle reminder between the two of them, who both understand just how fleeting life is. Just like the petals of these flowers will eventually fall off and wither away, one day, this night will only exist in their memories. Far after everyone else enjoying tonight’s festivities has become old and gray, the two of them will be unchanged; two preserved flowers.
“Yes...you’re right,” she says, closing her eyes at the sensation of the other manakete’s hands brushing past her hair. “I will...take good care of it...so, that I can treasure it as long as I can. Thank you... Oh!” Sophia’s eyes snap open. “Um, please... wait here...”
The dark mage slips into the crowd and returns shortly, carrying another flower crown, which she presents to Tiki. “...Here...you should also have one. Because...it represents everyone’s joy...participating in this festival.”
