You have 90 minutes to complete. (original poem: r.a.)
In participation of the MCYT Recursive Exchange 2024 hosted by @mcytrecursive!
Inspired by know that all my love will be your breath (i will save you when your lights go out)
[text under cut]
1. Have you ever been in love? (Please circle your answer.) a. It's me and him b. Our hearts beat in sync c. Our lives intertwined
2. Do you understand what you’ve done? (Please circle your answer.) a. I couldn't do anything b. I lost my balance c. I doomed us both
3. It's been god knows how long since you felt phantom hands on your neck and there is no one in sight. If you were soul-bound to him and both of you died at the same time then why are you still waiting in the void? Please answer clearly, in full sentences. (Not a correct answer:I just wanted to see him one more time).
4. Define two (2): Fate | The feeling of his forehead against yours Curse | The moment you realise he isn't linked to you anymore
5. True or False: i. It was your fault. ii. You wish you had met him under different circumstances. iii. You can’t regret a single moment that you had him. iv. You would do it all over again if you could. v. It ended long before either of you said anything.

Hit with a bit of inspiration after this sessions of limited life, how we feeling? :)
( text reads: We’re told that lightning can’t strike the same place twice. And of course, it’s a lie. But sometimes I wonder… How many people climb hills in search of safety. Only to look to the sky.)

2. Do I End?
Do you really know what you're getting into?
If so, I'll tell you a secret:
Everyone's watching you.

Canary's Call
As my life cuts short and curtains fall
The heralding of your death be the canary’s call
for the birds last breath mean death to all
may only the best live on in the victor’s hall
finally posted it, this poem has been sitting in my note book for like 6 months and it is finally seeing the light of day. It is about Jimmy die-ing first in the life series / traffic life games and how ppl dubbed it the canary curse.

In honor of this week’s Secret Life’s most likely finale, let me share with you guys a poem I made after I finished Limited Life!
One for the Sun
Two for the Stars
Three for the Moon
And four for Mars
Bloodlust curses the land
From deepest waters to blazing sand
The canary sits in it’s cage
As war continues to rage
The cycle repeats without stop
Until one finally comes out on top
They all watch, as if each life were a show
They’re counting down, their rhyme goes:
One for the Sun
Two for the Stars
Three for the Moon
And four for Mars

Joel succumbs to madness.
What is madness?
It is a world that looks at your world and tells you you are wrong.
What do you mean, you don’t see the canary perched on your shoulder?
Its blood on your hands?
You’re wrong.
You’re wrong.
I’ll take my axe and carve this world into something that sees the wound it’s carved into me.
I’m not crazy, for hearing the siren song of that fragile animal as I plummet into the night.
What do you mean you didn’t hear the silence ringing in his wake?
What do you mean your heart did not break when his did?
I could not save him.
There is a leash around my throat with no hand to hold it.
There is a coldness against my coat with no body to warm it.
I am an animal that has lost its reason.
Of course he does not resent the hunter that follows, or the watcher that feels relief at his finally being put down.
Why would you save me?
I am a dog that only knows how to bite.

Not an artpost but..
I made a poem :D
Emerald, gold, and ruby red
Hearts of fire and of steel
Granted three and then you’re dead
Hostile or not, will you reveal
Last things last, the first things first
Will you gather friends or enemies
And when things ‘ventually come to worst
Will you be safe or on your knees
First the fourteen start their game
With naive minds and unknowing grins
Until someone ‘comes not so tame
And death reckons the final wins
Second the hearts are random picked
And gifts of life and death are won
Failing, falling, feeling sick
But e’en then, the last one’s gone
Third their hearts do connect wi’ string
And hurts are shared between a two
But still wi’ first last the canary sings
And last of all the two were blew
Fourth a timer set there was
And deathly gifts were given again
Time to fall again because
The last to die betrayed his friend
Fifth the secrets grew too large
But current times prevent the fi’ish
So remember this an be encouraged
This secret is my final wish
So watch you onward, valiant souls
Keep your guard and do not fail
For secrets from you your heart holds
And thus this ends my poetic tale
But watch careful and do not wait
Unless you dread to end your fate

heyyy so uh i wrote a short poem about the victors of the life series
(It was like 2 or 3 in the morning when i wrote this so it sucksss but im posting it anways)
The sun, the stars,
the moon, and Mars
malicious intent clouds the skies
The earth surrounded
By memories and lies
Who was once the victim,
Now can see
The victor isn’t the the one who is friendly
No,
The victor is the villain
He who leads a life full of betrayals,
Enemies,
And envy,
Shall win the game.
The sun.
Three lives, two taken, one survived
Only to be given to another
A shared victory, officially stolen.
The stars.
The failed test,
Almost laid to rest,
He fought and he rose,
Winning the war.
The moon.
Isolated, alone
A sacrifice from another soul
Saving her instead
Mars.
Betrayal, selfishness,
Backstabbing
Three, two, one.
The Earth
Redemption.
What you give comes back to you
A sacrifice given from the Earth to the Sun,
From the stars to the moon,
From the moon to the Earth.
He who has no friends shall rise
The villain has won.
The sun, the stars, the moon, and Mars,
Make room for another.
The earth.
Grian, Scott, Pearl, Martyn
and Scar.

The Curse of the Canary - a poem for life series!Jimmy
The curse of the canary The weight of these yellow wings
Could I ask you a question? When you look at me, do you see my face? Or is it just golden feathers, Amber flames, brazen embers The auburn colour of wilting roses Dying on the disturbed dirt of a freshly dug grave
I've known you to love me 'till the summer Forsake me for a flower Hold me like a lover While you sacrifice me at the altar So now you extend the hand of friendship And I don't know where we stand
Once I lived with you like family After you sent me to my death silently You laughed in my wake, you made a bet You like me to be your canary This time, you promise, you'll back me But I've never outlived you yet
You and I were like strangers Linked by only death and dangers I just wished we'd had longer But now we've found stronger people And I'm trying to leave the coal mine
Can I trust you, past lovers? Old brother? You, you, especially you Wager my life for a feather Games creator and first winner, do as you do Matching plumage, angel and canary Truth is, neither of us can fly
The curse of the canary is to always die first A warning to all those who follow: the end cometh quick In their bloodthirst they misunderstand
I am not an omen I am not here to sing 'till the lights go out I am just another bird with useless wings Just another bird that can't fly Trying not to die first
Trying not to die

I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen
of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see.
For still there are so many things that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago
and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

Oh dear canary
You shoud be dead, but a lover give you life
You should be dead, but your family begged you to kill them
You should be dead, but the word saved you
You should be dead, but you just run out of time
The word love you
But even then
We can't stop you from falling
Dear canary,
Our sweet songbird
We're so sorry

The Fall
Jimmy's foot slipped
Just a toe beyond the edge
And it was over
The Sacrifice
A life for a life
Minutes make a difference
For his friends, for TIES
The Desperate Grab
Searching for something
Desperation sets in deep
An arrow flies true
The Fall
Pain spreads from Joel's chest
The hole where Jimmy had been
The arrow now fills
The Sacrifice
Some time from a friend
A lover or enemy?
Does it matter now?
The Desperate Grab
A chance at the end
A chance for the men he lead
To win in his stead
The Fall
The axe swings down low
Singing of kings before him
Who fell to the blade
The Sacrifice
A bargain not made
As Joel's life leaves him again
He remembers Tim
The Desperate Grab
A hand reaches down
Too late to change the course now
The canary flies
The Fall, The Sacrifice, The Desperate Grab
YOU HAVE RUN OUT OF TIME
(inspired by @roenais artwork here)
