Ive been thinking about a retcon-esque thing that I havent seen a lot of people talk about, and its that in ACOTAR rhysand talks to Feyre about how hes doing all this stuff for his court and to me it seemed like he actually cared for yknow, his whole court and not just one city. And it drives me insane because I would actually be so much more willing to see Rhys as a pragmatist and morally gray as opposed to stupid and evil if that was the case. Like, imagine instead of the canon bullshit with the court of nightmares and velaris, its basically just a normal court that treats all its citizens equally well but they enforce their borders really strongly so no one can get in without permission, and when someone does come over for political reasons or something they get a couple of people to do the whole CoN stick, or maybe its literally just the representatives of the NC (Rhysand, Kier, Mor, whoever is in charge of the illyrians) acting cruel and then letting the rumor mill run wild. That obviously still has its own ethical issues when you consider the fact that the night court is part of a larger country and theyre effectively cutting themselves and their own citizens off from it, but they are the kind of ethical issues I would accept from a character thats supposed to be morally gray

If Lime is on more equal terms with Mochi being in the m34th what would a battle between the two of them be like? Or would they have like a “battle” cause one of Lime’s missions was to get a read on the cat witch or something of the sort. Or angst battle that’s always steamy👀

I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS THE OTHER DAY!!!!!!!!! a fight between them would just be itching with banter and sexual tension so ofc i would love to see it heheheeh

many things to consider though on that fight.. aside from the fact that theyre in love and could never seriously hurt each other, in an actual serious fight assuming that wasnt an issue, im gonna use this as an excuse to ramble about general strengths and weaknesses (can also be applied to most witches and members of the m34th):

mochi is obviously the cat witch, extremely powerful magic. GREAT magic attacks and environmental control (ie using magic as the means but the end attack isnt actual "magic", like using magic to grab a tree and smashing them with it). she also has essentially unlimited resources in the idea that magic can do or summon anything she needs.

magic attacks alone unfortunately dont mean much against a black canvas. environmental control is still a plus (high res doesnt mean you can survive a boulder to the face), but another thing to consider is that as a witch, she cant kill anyone, and so cant fight with lethal force & has to hold back on all her attacks. another thing to consider is that the magic is limited, so she can always be worn down to exhaustion.

magic is okay (at best) for deflecting/shielding against the m34ths technology weapons (the idea is that the tech is advanced enough to be on par with magic weapons), and shes also okay (at best) at any hand-to-hand fighting (shes not amazing at it since most of her stock goes into magic, and lime is also taller/stronger so she would lose that fight). also dont forget shes very weak to water so if lime could factor that in, thats also something to consider

NOW FOR LIME, the obvious strength is the magic res. magic attacks like mochis magic swords/weapons/blasts dont do much to him. he has the tech weapons to break any magic shields she can use. as already mentioned hes taller (longer reach) and stronger so hand-to-hand is a no brainer, and more importantly hes not a witch so he can fight with the intent to kill (doesnt necessarily apply to them since theyre not trying to kill each other, but applies for a general fight between a witch and an m34th member). another thing to consider is limes running theme of being amazing at everything he does, so hes no run of the mill m34th guy, hes a cut above in terms of strength/strategy/smarts/skill

lime in particular though is cocky by nature, and a bit impatient. hes FAR more likely to do risky attacks and take chances if it MIGHT end the fight quicker, rather than taking a bit more time for a guaranteed success (kinda like in a pokemon battle when you know one more hit from the enemy will down your buddy, but you choose to attack anyway on the off-chance you land a crit and end the fight rather than using the turn to heal). also as mentioned earlier, high res doesnt mean high def so if the witch is smart enough she can still beat you by things like summoning a boat and smashing you with it. the m34th spends so much time fighting magic that they forget they can still be killed by normal things which is hilarious to me

ALL IN ALL THOUGH in a fight between mochi and lime i think lime would win. just from the fact that neither of them would be fighting full strength/trying to kill each other, and it would most likely come down to hand-to-hand since mochi wouldnt drop a building on him, lime would win.

(but in the scenario i was thinking, it was mochis grandma having them spar so she can evaluate mochis skill against an m34th member. mochis grandma is known to be hard on her, so lime held back a little more and let her win so she wouldnt have her family being like "shame...what kinda cat witch loses...."

she realizes this after the fact and when she asks him about it, he tells her something like "I know you were holding back a lot cuz you didn't want to hurt me, and I'm a lot better than a lot of people in the m34th. I'm telling you this right now: you would win against them in an actual fight. You don't need your grandma breathing down your neck for the next 4 months trying to drill more training into you." and thats why she loves him)

Huai dao: 1 i hope Sheng Yao dates KING OF ACTING SHU JIU (who is secretly Hei Xiazi from dmbj i am standing by that)

2 i do think sheng yao and su junzi (and the conflict of su junzi being married) situation aspects was somewhat worked into the 3 persom situation of fei du/luo wenzhou/tao ran in modu. The characters are different, and modu is way more intense about it (all 3 of the modu people have way more trauma and unhealthy coping mechanisms and Intensities to them than sheng yao or su junzi so far). But the fun ideas played with are definitely sparks of excitement during Huai Dao, and i can see why they were worked in modu.

3 i want more jiang hu backstory! Idk about shen yexi having ptsd, as he (as far as i know) had a support network of friend coworkers and has been using fairly normal coping mechanisms for stress that arent like causing any major issues for him. But i do think jiang hu (based on hints so far) has either some childhood trauma or actual past-work trauma. The childhood trauma theory: if this is like modu, then the cases may parallel one or both leads mental states. In that case: jiang hu had a childhood where he was expected to be perfect and fell short/felt guilty, or perhaps he was a victim to something and seeked to appease them to feel in control (like 2nd huai dao case). Which could be adult work trauma and could be very broad frankly: it could instead be that he had an old workplace where his mistakes led to something bad for someone (maybe patients or coworkers) so he took on an unfair amount of guilt he put on himself (or someone im authority blamed him and he believed them in that it was his fault), or he felt so out of control (in any kind of abusive workplace tbh) that he ended up guilty abd scared of Following Orders or Protocol or Superiors and failing to help who he intended (both a corrupt workplace or even just a run of the mill police one/societally normalized stressful workplace) couldve caused it.

I tried to word it before and went on a tangent so im going to try and just quick state what i hope comes across clearly. So i think priest doesnt use mental health terms particularly well in Huai Dao. It gets better in later novels of priests novels (modu handles terms better - including parts where things arent named, which is sometimes more realistic of trauma and levels of it and depression and anxiety and just how like the range of how we cope and what messes us up is vastly different and results in different ways for people, and what deeply affects one person may make no result in another). But in Huai Dao because of specific term labelling, and it being on perpetrators of harm, it can fall into a kind of reinforcing certain ideas - which is my biggest warning if you read. The actual portrayal of characters feels realistic TO each individual characters cirmstances and feels reasonably realistic. So i think priesr doesnt let it affect actual portrayals. But atuff like say a criminal having ocd but no one on the investigation team having ocd... you know. Its like if you have 1 gay character in a story and theyre a villai. Its fine to do a gay villain, but if its ur only gay character then readers as a whole may just reinforce their belief 'gay people are bad' unless you have some other neutrally or well treated gay character to reinforce that your story is not intending to say all X are bad. Idk if that makes sense? (Like... again modu compares childhood abuse cases, in fact a variety from Fei Du and the Su girl forced to harm otjers as children and what theyre like older, to zhang donglai with an absent dad and his own fucked family issues, to various side characters... and because theres people who turn out all kinds of ways, and fei du is a lead wr root for, theres never the feeling of the story seeming to indicare people abused as children are 'bad.' Instead the story just more broadly is showing how things could turn out varyingly, and how a wide spectrum of ppl have lived through that kind of trauma). I think huai dao if it leaned less on labelling terms might have worked better, or some side or main chqracters having similar mental health issues that the writing paints as people we root for or feel sympathy toward like victims. So like. Mm a weak spot for sure. Expected to run into it in tjis genre, its not an uncommon flaw in many a crime novel or show. But it is something to be aware of. while i think if a main cjaracter eventually does reveal they have mental health issues is may help lessen the kind of abrasiveness currently. But qho knows. This is a problem widespread in stories.

I think the characters tjemselves function as you expect ppl to in their situation. So as realistic characters things feel not illogical or so unrealistic it drives me up a wall. But yeah the terms and a bit of the selection of who has what background has some not ideal choices.

favorite and least favorite touhou games and why (cast? gameplay? story? tell me.)

fave games are shinreibyou (13) and danmaku amanojaku (14.3) for different reasons

13 has the largest amount of cast members im very attached to on average in a single game, its visual aesthetic and its ost's soundfont are huge favourites of mine, its introduction of taoism as a major player in the religion war arc is interesting, and it completes the plot setup for the events of touhou gumonkuju ~ symposium of post-mysticism. which is my favourite written work in the franchise if you dont count the concept records. plus it reintroduces spell practice for the first time since 8 which is a godsend. i dont really love the divine spirit/trance mode gimmick and i think its pretty half-baked in execution but everything else about the game besides the gameplay makes up for that. and also it created my fave ship hehehe.

14.3 however is my fave in terms of gameplay, its concept is so fun and executed perfectly and i had a blast with it. its a spinoff where the idea is you are up against danmaku patterns that are impossible to dodge normally, but you are still able to "cheat" by using items that let you delete patches of bullets, wrap around to the opposite side of the screen, turn invincible for a split second, etc. HOWEVER none of the bullet patterns are ever actually impossible, theyre just extremely challenging with a super low margin for error, so trying to see if you can solve the danmaku patterns without using your "cheats" adds an extra risk reward factor and turns the experience into a bit of a puzzle game. its sick as hell. a no-items run is planned for this years gdq if that sounds interesting

LEAST fave games are probably koumakyou (6) and kikeijuu (17)

6 because its just. not very good despite the hype for it. its clunky and unpolished but not in a way thats charming to me like the pc98 games are, and its plot feels extremely out of place with the tone of the windows era. theres no political satire or subtext its just a cheesy run of the mill shmup. if i want what 6 offers ill play a cave game or something instead

17 because as much as i adore that titles story and subtext and worldbuilding and all the things it plays around with conceptually from the bottom of my heart, jesus CHRIST that is a visual overload nightmare of a game. i dont have photosensitivity issues and it still made me sick. there is no justifying such bright flashing backgrounds like 17s that late into zuns career its worse than some of the stuff in 5s backgrounds (sorry 5 ily despite this). that coupled with the fact that you have 3 separate coloured giant flashing power ups on the screen all the time with the wolf/eagle/otter spirits makes it hell on the eyes. its so weird how this is the only windows era game that has these eyestrain problems but they made me have to give up trying to finish it, let alone do a 1cc run. please zun never do something like that again

i think in a run-of-the mill case of DID, having a 'dominant alter' is generally called having a host.

like yeah, that's a completely normal thing for many cases of DID; having a host, or a 'dominant alter' who is best equipped to handle daily life, while other parts don't front as often, but still switch sometimes.

it's also important to note that, if i remember correctly, in partial DID, one doesn't generally switch unless under stress.

in DID, it's common to switch, or switch more, when under stress, but you can and do still switch outside of it for completely normal and non-stress related reasons, like another ANP experiencing a positive trigger for example.

to me, your experiences just sound like DID.

june on the other hand is Extremely driven by wanting to do the right thing, whatever that means to him. he is also kind of impulsive though, and i think if it was like a trolley problem situation where he had to think fast, he could end up doing something that he would later really regret. generally tho he does his best to be a good person and is pretty uncompromising on what he views as right and wrong.

well i think autonomy often gets (or at least what she interprets as) visons from her god/of the future while she sleeps, as vague as they might be. i think she also has little flashes of memory and deja vu that she cant quite place but knows are familiar. very floaty and greenish gold dreams...nightmares of drowning

i think early-game june has Benny-related nightmares pretty frequently. getting shot in the head will do that to u. otherwise i dont think he dreams very often, and when he does theyre pretty run of the mill.

i think that you would think im pretty and would like my poetry and i want to share it with you. im shy.

to be honest, im very apathetic these days. im not the nice “cutesy baby flower petal boy” i used to be. a lot has happened & im bitter & sullen & all in all, a pretty shitty friend/person to know. i used to possess some redeeming qualities, believe it or not, even if they were construed by the subconscious in an attempt to be likeable - a facade, even tho its only a facade, is still tangible, still there, is still something, even if not authentic. is poorer character forgivable in the name of presenting more authentically? but nah. that makes it sound like im putting effort into being a better person, which im not. im just sort of fried & done. its been a very long time since i played the role i built for myself on here of the “small fawn boy who wants to help girls” lmaooo. how embarrassing. altho, i was just a kid, & i guess, if you had a tumblr as a teenager, you went thru some cringe (i know the use of that word has fallen in on itself & adopted its own definition but for lack of a better one) ass phases, whether it was kinning or malingering mental illness or oh fucking christ, all that gender bullshit, etc etc. from what ive observed, tho, loosely following kids im still casually friends with that i met on here, i think we’ve all managed to Grow The Fuck Up, at least a little. most of us have jobs or r in school or have partners - growing up & moving on is a very surreal experience to watch/go thru. im moving at my own pace & ive accepted that - im still currently using & starving myself & concocting a suicide plan every day but at least i use clean needles as much as possible, i actively & honestly do strive for the bare minimum calorically, & um able to work with the mentality of “well ill have this when i need it but todays not that day” a lot more readily, in relation to suicide shit. ive finally found a therapist who Really Gets It, is a frontrunner internationally on ritual & extreme abuse & mind control. its pretty incredible what a few years with a good therapist can do. anyways. im sorry, i know you didnt ask for all this & im not even sure why i divulged. i guess, what tipped me off, was your attempt at sounsing “cute” - dude, cut that shit out, i promise youll be a lot better off. & i know everyone interchanges aspects of their personality based on who theyre talking to/who they percieve themselves to be talking to, but i feel like not a lot of people give enough credence to the internet & its hand in shaping/molding young people, kids, vulnerable dumbasses, especially tumblr (tho, i get that its a relatively new phenomenon) - u get a bunch of the “weird”, “alternative”, ““ostracized” kids together on a website, of course its gonna nurture a culture of hypervalidatoon & pretending to be sick in order to fit in to the point that its not an act anymore & exacerbation of symptoms & basically, just sucking each others dicks, sitting in ur own shit, & never ending coddling. & then, you have the older group of kids, who have played this game before but instead of helping or ignoring the Dumbshit kids, they indulge their own normally-buried-but-unleashed-by-internet-anonymity sadism/human instinct to just be fucking dicks & so now you have this vicious cycle of anger & hatred & fucking melodrama up the urethra. im sorry, i know im comig off as/am being harsh but god fuckin dammit yknow? also, this isnt directed at you, specifically, more of a generalized thing, @ myself included. so uh. i mean, if u still wanna share it with me after reading all this, id be happy to read ur poetry. i used to be over the top nice & then reverted to Major Asshole & am now trying to find that sweet middle spot - honoring & allowing myself to share my pain without putting it on others. which is really hard!! cuz becoming a Dick was difficult in that it forced me to be more honest with my true self & as such, more vulnerable - now in trying to become Kinda Nice again because despite being a pulsating scrotom, ive had the intense desire for friendship & human interaction, while simultaneously doing things that i was consciously aware was pushing others away - but then, if i pretend to be nice, where does that authenticity i worked for & was so scared of go? & i dont mean telling someone their new haircut looks nice even when it doesnt - thats just not being a dick. but i guess, those r the normal trials & tribulations of any relationship & adolescent developing identity. which is weird too - dealing with “normal” issues, i mean. whats the point if your life/limbs/breaking point arent at risk? whats the point when your best friends already dead. im sick of people calling "survivors” (despise that word, so fucking female-originated & overdramatic) “brave” & “strong” - surviving is not brave or strong. its just survival. you wouldnt call an animal brave for running for its life from a predator but you would call a dog courageous for going into a burning building to save its owner. premeditated action on the notion that you are probably going to be hurt is brave. being subjected to pain with no choice is not. theres no “silver lining” or anything “good” to be drawn from it either - sure it may have made x a more compassionate person or made y more introspective & gentle but you know what would have been even fucking better??? if the shit hadnt happened in the first place! let x be an asshole & y be self absorbed - the “benefits”, so to speak, do not outweigh the cost, not by a long fucking shot. its not only patronizing to hear garbage like that, but a slap in the face to know that anyone could possibly see anything good coming from that nightmare & that the characteristics, good or bad, you developed either in response to or as a result of, are worth praise. dont tell me im strong for doing what i had to to escape a torture chamber - tell me im perseverant for studying my ass off & passing that test last week. in the words of one of my dearest & most fucking brilliant friends, “pain doesnt owe me/you purpose - the need to intellectualize & assign meaning to pain & death is not only futile, but harmful.” & honestly, i think that it stems from weakness (in most cases - i realize theres a plethora of other reasons such as those who r just desperate for something to hold on to or r hyperintellectual & analytical or who have been pressured by external “support” systems to find the “good” etc etc) - while the majority of people view the person who “can find the good in everything” (strictly speaking only in relation to trauma/tragedy here & more in denunciation of those that celebrate this trait as opposed to vilifying “survivors” who respond this way, though in my experience, its very very very rarely the “survivor” that perpetrates this ideology ) as strong, i sort of see it as a weakness - their inability to sit with & absorb their own pain or that of others is so strong that not only do they have to frantically pull rainbows out of the teeth of a meat cleaver, they also have to exist within this strange (tho, not malicious - more subconscious) superiority complex. like, nah, dude, some times shit is just awful. you cant tell me anything fucking good came out of a four year old girl being kidnapped, gangraped, & tortured for two years, before being impaled & left to die on a stake. her mom opened a non profit organization? She doubts it’s quite long enough, in any case), he will be respectful of her weariness – after all, it’s incredibly difficult work doing so little, and there’s a reason why she so kindly tolerates him.

No, this is a rare experience indeed, and one she fully intends to appreciate. She stretches, lithe form extending itself completely for a moment, before she circles and settles, quite contentedly, atop the fleecy blanket of the bed. Its scent is mildly synthetic, accompanied by the faintest whiff of whatever was on that garish portrait across the bedroom. She closes her eyes rather deliberately against its offensiveness – honestly, all that effort for something so meaningless. Did it offer food? Entertainment? Strokes? Even the one depicted in it had seemed reluctant to praise its virtues.

She tucks into herself, drifting steadily off, the absolute tranquillity and joyful warmth permeating her completely. Perhaps she’ll dream of forests, or of crawling through Jeffries tubes, an exploratory mission of epic proportions; there’ll be mice in there somewhere, she just knows it –

She’s almost retroactively aware that she’s no longer cocooned by cosiness, and she levels her most malevolent glare and harshest snarl at the intruders as she recovers from being shoved so callously aside – how dare they, the human scum –

They’re desperately attached, mostly without clothing, scents permeating the perfectly pleasant air with biological pollution – supplement forty-six, how she hates them both! One of them wrenches back from the other, and she blinks curiously through a burning abhorrence – she knows that one. Her favourite respects him greatly – he’s important, somehow, though perfectly ordinary in appearance and aroma.

She’ll be damned to a hell of boisterous Dalmatians before she’ll defer to him, the utter bastard.

“Q!” He demands hotly. “Where the hell are we?!”

The other is significantly less tolerant of the distraction, apparently; she empathises entirely, although… she’s never seen him, but his scent – he’s not of this ship. She isn’t sure he’s of this galaxy; he smells not of confined conduits, or stress, or anything that she’s ever smelled upon another living soul. She understands these things, far better than the limited humanoids she occupies a space with, and it leads her to only one conclusion.

This is his fault. She fixes into a battle stance, glad of an official focus for her towering rage – she’s one against two, but one with one hell of a set of claws.

“Does it damned well matter, Jean-Luc? I’m slightly preoccupied – I’m sure you can empathise!” Her offender replies urgently, attempting to re-engage his companion – by the kingdom of rodents, this is more intolerable than her favourite and that other one! At least they feed her!

She flatly refuses to be ignored – grace befitting her position of superiority, she jumps back upon her rightful throne, claws itching to be extended into the neck of her usurper, glare toxic. The respected one turns to glance at her, and she releases a warning hiss for his troubles.

“Dear god,” he murmurs, eyes wide with horror. “We’re in Data and Geordi’s – what are we doing here, dammit?! Q!”

The evil one raises a brow, expression sheepish as he meets the venom of his newfound enemy; he’ll be fortunate if he has an expression left when she’s through with him.

“Ah,” he notes wryly, “I… may have been looking for a source of apathy, subconsciously. You’re rather overwhelming, mon capitan, and I imagine you’re quite partial to your galactic locality remaining intact.”

The important one’s eyes soften, much to her disgust.

“And there can be no greater apathy than a cat,” he finishes, amused. “A universal constant, apparently.”

“Oh, you’re about to discover exactly how apathetic I can be, humanoid wretch!”

She launches with planned spontaneity, at the most calculated moment, when the atrocity of a man will least expect it – he will pay, dearly, for his disturbance of her precious rest. She’s inches from his chest, claws extended fully, her very blood singing with the need for vengeance –

“Yes, no.”

The dismissive snap of his tone is followed swiftly by one from his fingers, and she never reaches her target. She’s left in situ, dangling precariously, the hateful gaze she’s directing at him returned almost as fiercely.

“I know you think you’re one, dear feline,” he spits, “but I actually am a god.”

“Q, let her go,” the other bites out coolly. He goes to protest, but thinks better of it; she’s released from the mystical prison of stillness, and she hisses bitterly for good measure.

“I will have my vengeance.” Her meow is pure rage as she realises she’s once again off the damned bed.

“Of course you will,” he drawls at her, unconcerned. “I trust you’ll keep your own counsel, furbag.”

Furbag?! The utter nerve! Her favourite had told her only earlier how pretty she was! Her grooming routine put felines the quadrant over to shame, the despicable –

“She’s hardly going to plough us through the ship’s gossip mill, Q,” the important one comments dryly, facing his companion with softness. “I assume you’ll be more cautious where you direct your apathy in future, however?”

She takes a moment from her current schedule of comprehensive incandescence to marvel at how the face of evil can look so warm.

“I shall endeavour to be a paragon of subtlety, my dear.”

They’re there one second, and she’s almost wrapped up her plan of sweet, sweet revenge; she’s sneaking cautiously, the very image of stealth, around the smooth fabric of the bedding, her movements gloriously quiet – he’ll rue every damned word –

She arrives back on the duvet just as they vanish with that same stupid noise and blinding flash, and she shrieks a hiss of pure fury.

“I’m telling everyone, you wait!” She screams. “Your empires shall crumble beneath my wrath!”

She flops, outraged, to the covering, starting at the sudden weight to her left; she flips up instantly, high on alert, and sniffs curiously.

… Oh. That’s supplement seventy-three, the one her favourite’s never quite managed to synthesise properly since that first wondrous occasion. Its aroma is divine, though the most intriguing snatch of eternity glimmers around it. Deciding to obey the will of her stomach rather than her natural caution, she tucks in with gusto, devouring it as though the soul of the victim that’s maddeningly disappeared.

She’ll get the bastard, one day – however delicious his pitiful offering was.
