Hua Cheng’s Design

Hua Cheng’s character design. As we all know, the image of Hua Cheng was established based on the Miao ethnic group, so let's see the specific origin of things on Hua Cheng’s person.

1. Red umbrella:

The red umbrella in Miao culture is one of the indispensable props at marriage and celebrations. The red umbrella symbolizes great auspiciousness as one’s desires, numerous children and grandchildren, sheltering from the wind and rain, exorcising evil spirits, and shielding people from disasters. All of these together are a perfect fit to represent the blessings of the heavens (Tian Guan Ci Fu, the name of the novel) with no taboos or misfortunes.

At the same time, in the opening episode of Tian Guan Ci Fu, Xie Lian mistook Hua Cheng for a bridegroom ghost. The situation fits perfectly like a miracle as a red umbrella is required for a wedding. 

2. Silver butterfly, maple leaves.

The Miao people have long had an ancient song, "Feng Mu Ge" (Song of the Maple Tree), to praise the beauty of life. The Miao people also consider butterflies as the ancestral mother, who can bless the village to be peaceful, the children to thrive, and the nation to flourish.

Maple leaves and butterflies represent rebirth, and reincarnation. These motifs can be seen in the culture of the Miao people everywhere, from clothes to jewelry to household decorations. The most famous is the Hong He area, located in an autonomous district of the Miao ethnic group in Yunnan. Whether it is nature or people, maple leaves and butterflies are popular, cherished symbols.

ps. The butterfly decoration that the author saw while traveling in Yunnan is also an inspiration.

"When I was traveling in Yunnan, there was a butterfly decoration in front of the hotel elevator,” Mo Xiang looked at it and thought. After a while, she said proudly, "He will raise a kaleidoscope of butterflies." (From MXTX Author’s Notes and Interview) 

3. Silver Jewelry

This goes without saying much, silverware is an important component of Miao culture, "the more beautiful, the better;” "Miao people’s iconic silver jewelry is used to pray for peace and as a token of love or a proposal of marriage.” Speaking of which, Hua Cheng’s character design is based on ethnic Miao people. Of course, the same jewelry is used. The inheritor of the art of Miao silversmithing, Shi sifu, also said, Hua Cheng is steeped in Miao Guang symbolism and aesthetics.

4. Other

If you read the novel, it’s not difficult to figure out:

Huacheng used a red umbrella because when he was young and weak and had nothing. Xie Lian gave him a red umbrella to shield him from the wind and rain.

Hua Cheng uses corral beads because this is one of Xie Lien's lost earrings. In Taoism, coral represents the heart. Taking this into account, Xie Lian in the book had two corral earrings. The implication of this symbolism then becomes quite enticing. 

Hua Cheng strung the red string of fated love because, during the Gentle Fragrance part of the book, Xie Lian gently cut a hair strand and gifted it to him. In our country's traditional culture, tying your hair together represents binding marriage. The red line represents your destined intertwined path.

From the beginning to the end, the author demonstrated the changes in Hua Cheng. "Become a better, stronger person because of him, for him". All of Hua Cheng’s character progressions developed according to the plot, gradually revealing layers of meaning, and not built by forced intention. Therefore, in successfully portraying such a character, the author moved the reader’s heart and created a miracle. 

A Love that is unchanged even in the face of death.

Désolé du message un peu agacé/triste du soir : s’il vous plait, mes avatars ne sont pas des images qu’on reprend pour superposer une photo dessus et zou, se l’approprier et le créditer à son nom. Voir le proposer en réponse à une commande ensuite (et n’importe quels avatars/icons/headers de tout createurice enfait aha)

J'ai partagé beaucoup de ressources sur mon ancien compte et j’ai aucun soucis à laisser mes psds, textures et autres à disposition de celleux qui ont encore les liens, sans demande d’aucun crédit ni mention mais... Vraiment, je passe du temps sur mes créations et tomber sur des forums où je retrouve un de mes avatars où quelqu’un a juste changer la photo dans un hexagone et après le créditer à son pseudo, ça me... blesse beaucoup à vrai dire :/ Je comprends qu’on veuille apprendre et essayer en copiant ce qu’on voit mais... de-là à prendre l’avatar, coller une nouvelle photo et après le dire sien, c’est un peu too much à mes yeux 😭

Si ce message est lu par la personne qui a fait ça (car la personne a bien du trouver mon avatar quelque part et vu que je ne poste que là, cqfd), merci de ne plus le faire. Par simple respect pour ce que je fais et plus globalement, par respect pour les créateurices qui passent du temps à créer de multiples ressources pour habiller les forums et tous nos personnages rpgiques.

L'imagination ( Syràn )

(cf l'imagination chez Bottero) Cette magie particulière permet aux utilisateur.rices (que l'on appelle les Dessinateur.rices) de rendre réelles les choses imaginées. C'est comme si l'on dessinait dans notre esprit nos pensées, et que celles-ci se matérialisaient dans le vrai monde de façon temporaire.

Cette magie est assez rare au sein de la race, nombre de Syràn en sont totalement dépourvu.es. Néanmoins, iels compensent sans difficulté par leurs capacités physiques au combat au corps à corps assez exceptionnelles.

La magie est contrôlée par un groupe de personnages aux grands pouvoirs que l'on nomme les Sentinelles. L'imagination est donc réglementée : il est par exemple formellement interdit de faire revivre les morts, ou bien d'utiliser ses pouvoirs à des fins meurtrières (ce qui n'empêche pas certain.es de contrevenir à ces règles).

le Vif ( Laëris )

(cf Le Vif chez Robin Hobb)  Le Vif est une magie intimement liée à l'environnement de son utilisateur.rice (que l'on appelle les Ligné.es), et notamment au monde animal. Il permet les dons de liens aux autres, que ce soit par la télépathie ou par la communication animale.

Cette magie est extrêmement courante chez les Laëris, toustes en sont doté.es, mais à des échelles extrêmement différentes. A l'âge de 12 ans, un test est effectué sur chacun.e pour déterminer le niveau de Vif.

Il existe un pouvoir particulier au Vif : certain.es de ses Ligné.es parviennent à tisser un lien si fort avec un animal qu'iels se retrouvent lié.es à lui, pour toujours. Ce lien leur permet de communiquer plus facilement, parfois même d'utiliser les sens de l'autre lorsque c'est nécessaire. Cette faculté est si mal vue par toutes les races et dans tous les coins du globe qu'elle peut mener à un procès mortel si découvert.

La magie du Feu   ( Fiel )

(cf sorcellerie) Cette magie occulte tire son pouvoir du feu et de l'Enfer. Elle peut être utilisée par les sorcier.es à des fins bénéfiques, mais comme en alchimie, son pouvoir nécessite des sacrifices et un principe d'équivalence. Il en va de même pour les sortilèges ou les formules.

Magie occulte ou divine, elle peut sembler effrayante bien que son utilisation dépende exclusivement de ce que qu'en font les sorcier.es (nom donné aux utilisateur.rices de la magie du Feu).  L'apprentissage de ce pouvoir (qui n'est que très partiellement inné) demande des années de sacrifices et de douleurs, et d'innombrables erreurs qui peuvent coûter extrêmement cher. Nombreux.ses sont les Fiel à n'avoir jamais su utiliser leur pouvoir correctement, et à avoir abandonné toute forme de magie dans leur vie.

L'elfique   ( Magriel )

(cf les elfes fantasy)  La magie elfique est utilisée et possédée par tous les elfes, quelque soit leur classification. Celle-ci est différente des autres car, si toute aussi puissante, elle nécessite l'utilisation de mots, d'herbes ou d'objets. Elle est innée, mais a besoin d'un support.

Elle repose sur la soif de connaissance, et est surtout tournée autour de la communication et de la guérison. L'immortalité elfique telle que connue dans les livres fait office de mythe, car elle a été perdue il y a fort longtemps, faute de dilution génétique.

Toustes ont la capacité et le savoir des plantes médicinales, qu'iels apprennent depuis tou.tes petit.es. Pas besoin donc de les acheter dans la boutique d'Atalan.

i have. some thoughts i wanna dump out about aini actually and if i do it on twitter my friend WHO STILL HASN'T STARTED THE GAME will see it and then i'll scream because i've done a fantastic job of not spoiling anything for her SO ANYWAY ANI THOUGHTS TIME. ALSO this isn't everything i just wanna get the loudest thoughts out

i'll be honest i wasn't expecting to like tama much but she ended up being one of my favorites actually. funny little ai-ball so silly and actually such a sweetheart. and she supports the lgbtq. icon

RYUKI i am sooooooooo normal about him. sosososososo SO normal. i started playing and when it got to his pov i really was like the "oh he's just a little guy! oh he's a bit fucked up actually" meme and just. gently holding him. uchikoshi dumped all the trauma he could on this man just to see how much it would take to completely break him i swear. also i kept making fun of him and his so obvious crush on date but also i completely understood because i too love pathetic men. which i'll be honest i was not expecting him to. actually have a thing for date. gay rights!

speaking of date, all i am saying is: i understand where ryuki is coming from. i want to kiss him actually. pathetic man. why are you so hot with an eyepatch.

mizuki all grown up! i loved her interactions with aiba and boss, they are just so good hsjejf.

ALSO i honestly? really liked just boss's casual mention that she has a daughter (bibi) in throwaway lines and just! i didn't think anything of it at the time but god damn uchikoshi you mastermind

mmmmmmmmm one thing i'm really Not Fond Of is kizuna and lien's relationship like. i think if lien didn't literally hit on her the moment he saw her and LITERALLY FOLLOWED HER to pressure her into a relationship, and if kizuna was not 18 AT THE TIME, i'd be at least a little okay with it? individually i think they're pretty good characters and i really do like their arcs but their relationship just ruins it for me. i was REALLY hoping they wouldn't go that way, ESPECIALLY with kizuna shooting down his advances initially but i'm clearly asking for too much from a spike chunsoft game. same goes for gen and amame but to a lesser extent because 1 that remains unrequited (or at least i think it does. i think amame just sees gen as a father figure of sorts) and 2 the two don't eat up screenstime for a focus on a romantic relationship and therefore i can simply Look Away. I Do Not See. also mizuki wouldn't encourage that who brainwashed her into thinking it's okay

SPEAKING OF, i actually did not expect amame to be a major character in the game (if that was shown in a trailer then i am a clown bc i watched like. the initial teaser and the reveal trailer and that's it) and i especially didn't expect to like her as much as i did. i loved how creepy her somniums were AND how the answers to the questions in second one as mizuki were the same as the ones in the first as ryuki like. sorta foreshadowing her whole story? ALSO SHE STRAIGHT UP MURDERED URU I HONESTLY DIDN'T EXPECT THAT. all i have left to say is god damn faye mata is a good va. also the gen and amame route nearly made me cry. i did in fact have tears welling up.

i want to punt chikara into the ocean. that's all

OH ALSO the masked woman/bibi's somnium was obnoxious tbh. i got so fuckin frustrated with it. tho idk if i just got lucky or what but somehow not looking at chikara made him? not notice me as much? i have no fuckin clue. anyway

speaking of somniums, tokiko's was super creepy but like. in a different way than amame's. you know what i mean. the only thing i didn't like about it was the ringing sound in the soundtrack. and how slowly you move, especially when you're swimming to the nirvana initiative for the last mental lock. agony.

the explosion route hurt me in ways i cannot describe. i was semi-livemessaging my friend bits and pieces of my playthrough in the most spoiler free way i could and. i'm just putting these here and letting them speak for me

ALSO I WANNA SHARE ryuki taking a bullet for date and seemingly dying IN HIS ARMS NO LESS made me almost cry AGAIN. THIS GAME BROKE ME EMOTIONALLY THREE TIMES. i genuinely thought he was dead too and i did not know how to feel. and as funny as date straight up acting like a cat with his head on hitomi's lap was, the way he reacts when mizuki asks him about ryuki just. ow?

i'm not saying i lowkey ship date and ryuki but i lowkey ship date and ryuki

on a lighter note, kizuna breaking out a gatling gun and screaming "come get some, motherfuckers" made me laugh like. way harder than it probably should've. i saved it on my switch because it was too funny not to.

ALSO the whole thing with the true flowchart confused me at first but after thinking it over and getting it explained a bit, it makes a lot more sense. especially since there are two mizukis and the whole thing with aiba being on a secret mission, and also the fact mizuki didn't question date being alive when he saved her from tearer in the abandoned warehouse.

tearer's somnium was literally just a walking zero escape reference and i was living. i didn't properly finish all the puzzles in one room because the first two digits for the password were 9 and i went "999 moment" and got it right. and laughed hysterically. i think the music for those rooms was taken straight from ZE too but idk for sure. i wouldn't be surprised tho

as much as i Don't Like moma being a massive creep in this game, the bits with the vochaloco were pretty funny to me. i hope iris's va had fun recording those lines because hearing iris say fuck is great.

i think we deserved to see/hear marco personally. there are concepts of a like. genderbent aiba in the dream album (i don't remember which somnium) and i know it sounds basic and lazy of me but i'm pretending that's what he looks like.

i've been typing for like two hours lmao but anyway my conclusion in short is the game has a few problems but overall i had a great time with it. also ryuki is a fruit. that's all
