Raziel

-Constant fashion and makeup advice. He will do your hair, makeup, everything, if you're comfortable with it.

-Gossiping! Raziel has the tea on everything going on in the citadel and would love to hear what you have.

-Poetry sessions. Raziel loves both reading and writing poetry. He likes to perform his writings and would enjoy listening to any poetry you recite.

-Going to the theatre. Raziel also loves plays, musicals, the works. Once he gets back in the swing of things, he performs as well. If you perform with him, it would be amazing! He would go to any production you are apart of.

-You are one of the few people allowed to touch his wings. You have to ask beforehand, but he mostly says yes (unless he's having a bad day/night). He's glad he can trust you.

Turel

-You are one of the few people he can stand to be around. Turel is a severe introvert and is easily exhausted when it comes to people. He's just fine sitting in silence with you.

-He'll sing to you if you ask. You two have to be alone, though! His voice is very nice to listen to. He could easily sing you to sleep.

-Cuddling with him. He likes to make pillow forts and sit in the darkness. It reminds him of the comfort of his caves. It's even better when you're there.

-Telling his plans to you. He has a lot of responsibilities to his clan and it's nice to have someone to help edit speeches, go over battle plans, and brainstorm with.

-He leaves notes for you. Advice, encouragement, even just little platonic hearts to help make your day brighter.

Dumah

-Play fighting, all the time! Arm wrestling, playful punches, thumb wars, all of it. Sometimes he lets you win because he wants you to feel good about yourself (and let's face it, nobody can beat Dumah at arm wrestling naturally... maybe except Kain).

-He will randomly scoop you into his arms and carry you places. The only other person subjected to this many yoink-ings is Raziel.

-If you can't tell, his love languages are very touchy. He loves bear hugs, cuddling, holding hands, linking arms, and anything else you're comfortable with. You're one of his favorite people and he wants to make sure that you feel how much he (platonically) loves you.

-Playing games together. He has a love for board games. His favorite? Monopoly. (The others hate this fact.)

-Dumah loves animals, especially dogs. A lot of time spent with Dumah is also time spent with his dogs. They all adore you, of course! Cuddling sessions are always supervised by at least one dog also in the cuddling area.

Rahab

-If you can do it, he will take you swimming. All the time.

-Common knowledge aside, he loves having mini-book clubs with you. Talking about whatever you two are reading at the time, and recommending books to each other.

-He randomly shares fun facts if there's an awkward silence at any point. Did you know that many species of fish will change their biological sex if the situation calls for it?

-Info-dumping! Rahab's special interest is marine biology in all its forms and will happily ramble about it. He will also happily listen to you info-dump if you're also neurodivergent.

-He loves blowing bubbles, either underwater or with a bubble wand. He'll blow them at you all the time but will light-heartedly complain when you blow them back.

Zephon

-Zephon is always planning for some sort of mischief and you are his helper. His sidekick, as he puts it.

-Zephon loves musicals and will sing Phantom of the Opera at you while swinging from the rafters. He *always* plays the Phantom.

-Sometimes he'll just look at you steadily for a while and then burst into little giggles. His laughs are always full of mischief. Zephon laughs in little heeheehee's. It can be very worrisome.

-He likes to pet you, if you let him. It's always nice to have that physical contact from him, it shows how much he cares about you.

-You have to at least be able to be neutral around insects and arachnids, as is a given. Zephon's favorite pets are his spiders. They're very docile and would never bite anyone, even his more venomous specimens.

Melchiah

-He uses his sewing abilities to make you whatever you'd like. Stuffed animals, new clothes, all of it. Thankfully now that the corruption is over, he doesn't have to sew on any skin, but he keeps his skills sharp.

-Arts and crafts! Melchiah is very skillful in many artistic endeavors. He loves scrapbooking and painting, specifically. But he'd love to try anything you have in mind.

-Pillow forts with Melchiah are the best. He always has the softest materials to construct with, and an incredible amount of stuffies.

-Melchiah can very much be the 'mom friend', so to speak. He's always carrying supplies. Need a snack? He has vials of blood and some sort of human treat. Bandage? He's got you covered, he has adhesive bandages and gauze wraps. Lotion? Pick a scent! Lip balm? Pick a flavor!

-Melchiah has a love for all scented things. Candles, incense, perfumes, and much more. He'd be delighted to take you shopping to help pick out scents. He has a fondness for fruity scents, like strawberry.

Defense.

Warnings: Graphic violence, Kain's usual difficulties.

Written about my LoK self-insert, Shadow, and examining the dynamics between him and the newly forming clan with Kain. Shadow is protective over these fledglings.

The vast differences between the eight vampires created many difficulties.

Shadow, the oldest by technicality alone, was quiet and soft. He spent his time following Kain and aiding him in most tasks, most often helping soothe Kain's corruption by mysterious means, even to him.

Kain was anger-prone but wise. He had seen much and was determined to shape Nosgoth to his will.

As for the six fledglings, things got a bit more complicated.

Raziel was open and curious. He was easily entertained by books of all sorts, and when he got older, playing chess against himself. But his vanity created plenty of distractions as well.

Turel was cold and anger-prone, just like his sire. But he was dedicated to all his endeavors, almost to a fault.

Dumah was courageous and warm, but his aloofness often created situations that could easily be avoided.

Rahab was observant, and daring, to the point of self-sabotage.

Zephon was intelligent- too much so. His plotting and scheming made way for anxiety among the other five, not to mention his impulsiveness.

Melchiah was strong-willed and determined... but his refusal to give up on certain aspects made more harm than good.

Even as fledglings, the personality differences between the six soon-to-be lieutenants were clear. How they managed to work together as humans was an enigma to many. Their strengths and their flaws were a perfect, harmonious mess... and that made Kain all the more irritated, and Shadow all the more worried.

"Leave him," Kain said with a growl, "if he wants to put himself in danger, let him. He'll learn the hard way."

"Oh, Zephon-" Melchiah attempted to move after Zephon but Kain yanked him back, causing a stitch to tear, and Melchiah to hiss in pain.

"Kain!" Shadow scolded, letting Rahab advance to look at Melchiah's arm.

"I said to leave him! He'll learn not to disobey when he comes back bloody." Kain dismissed the conversation by turning his heel and beginning to retreat into the darkness. "If he comes back."

Shadow stared after his husband with a horrified expression. The others moved off after Kain, fearing their sire's infamous wrath. But Shadow stayed rooted to his spot on the grassy hill overlooking the developing human city.

"Kain! Get back here!" Shadow looked back and forth between Kain's retreating form and where Zephon had disappeared into the settlement.

"Shadow, come along." Kain turned to face Shadow. Usually Kain would be much more lenient to listen to his husband's protests, but his anger was clear. Zephon had already been on Kain's nerves all night, so the master vampire was content for Zephon to learn from his mistakes, however harsh the consequences may be.

Shadow turned to look down into the settlement, his deep red eyes scanning the area to see any sign Zephon.

"He'll be fine. Come on." Kain said. He was trying his best to be patient- his husband was far more sensitive than the others to anger.

Shadow stood for a few moments longer before turning and beginning to trudge up the hill to join Kain. Kain's face relaxed slightly. He began to lead the way again, but all vampires paused as shouts were heard from below. Before Kain could react, Shadow had darted down the hill towards the noise, ignoring Kain's shouted orders to come back.

He leapt over a fallen crate, dodged through alleyways, and jumped fences until he was present to the mob of hunters that was forming. He looked around, beginning to panic- the humans had discovered Zephon and were quick to form their mob.

Shadow skirted around the crowd until he saw where Zephon was cornered. Zephon was hissing like a cat as he clutched some sort of gem to his chest- he must have saw something shiny to steal and got caught in the process.

A human at the forefront of the crowd was raising their sword to strike. Zephon was too defensive of his prize to react properly. Shadow reacted on instinct alone and lunged forward.

His claws sliced through the human's neck with ease. The sword dropped, and Shadow used a blast of telekinesis to impale another hunter with the blade. Some humans scattered, but the other vampire hunters remained. One lunged, a stake in hand, but Shadow was faster, kicking the human in the chest and grabbing the stake from them as they fell. He pierced the skull of another with the stake. Screams rang out, both of shock and pain from the humans as Shadow sliced his way through the mob. Finally, only one hunter remained, and Shadow stood above them, his chest heaving with adrenaline and anger.

"This is my fledgling." Shadow snarled, his voice a feral growl, a stark contrast to his usual soft and gentle tone. "You touch my fledglings, you die."

With a sickening and wet crunch, the final human's head was destroyed from the pure force Shadow exerted to stomp on their skull.

Shadow stayed there a few more moments, his eyes wild and his breath quickened. Finally, he turned and addressed Zephon. "That rock better be worth it."

"What happened?" Kain asked when the pair joined them on the hill.

"Zephon learned a lesson." Shadow said plainly as he wiped the blood off his face.

Indeed, Zephon's face showed many emotions. Most of all, fear from seeing the pure brutality of Shadow's kills. He silently followed the others, his eyes wide.

Shadow silently handed Kain the chunk of diamond that Zephon had stolen. Kain silently took it and halfway managed a smile- more like a smug smirk.

The eight vampires were messy and bickered most times. But the loyalty and the dedication they had to each other was beginning to be clear. It may be Kain's clan by name, but Shadow was just as responsible for looking out for them as Kain was.

Taking a crack at a younger Kain! Post-BO2 era. Kain's relationship alphabet! SFW, cut for space.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Good luck getting affection from him at first. His biggest affection will be not scolding you for making a mistake- unless it's a pretty big mistake, of course. Once he warms up and feels more in control of things, he will be better about showing affection- usually gentle touches and forehead kisses when no one is looking.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Instigator! Bad influence! Gives horrible advice on purpose! He's fun but infuriating. Have lots of patience if you want this bastard (affectionate) as your best friend.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Oh, yes. After everything he's been through? He needs to hold onto you or have you hold onto him. Do not say anything about it- he is sensitive when it comes to this and will gladly kick you off the bed.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

HA! He has servants for that! (More specifically, Vorador has servants for that.)

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Either he leaves or you come back to find your stuff packed neatly. He never says a word to you again unless it is required.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

It will take quite a long time for you to get close enough to him for him to even consider the idea. He has to reestablish his (attempted) empire and get things settled down first, then he will entertain the idea.

Once he's ready for it, though... he is committed. You've gotten this far and he's not letting anyone or anything take you away from him.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Emotionally, no dice. He's harsh because the world is harsh and he has no time to spare for idiocy... but if you are more faint-hearted, he will try to be gentle. He will speak to you softly and maybe show more affection if you're lucky.

Physically, he won't hurt you on purpose. Sometimes he forgets his own strength and might leave a bruise if he yanks you towards him for unwarranted cuddles.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Kain is like a cat- touch is on his terms alone. If he's comfortable (usually when alone with you), he will usually be glad to give any hugs you desire. But, once in a while, he needs to not be touched at all. It's best for everyone if you respect his space, this is a dealbreaker for him.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Not quickly. You'll probably say it first and after a moment of thinking, he will say it back. If he does say it first, like @necromancer-4-hire said, it's after a life-or-death situation or something akin to that.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Oh, easily jealous. Someone gives you a look he doesn't like and he's tugging you closer, glaring at the offender with the heat of a thousand suns. He has trust issues as well, so you can help him by sitting him down and telling him that you are not going to leave, and you are not going to cheat. He will feel better after that. But he will still snarl at anyone he deems a threat to your relationship.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Kain's lips are cool and soft. He's very gentle in his kisses, tilting your face to his and giving a sweet smooch. He likes to pepper your face, neck, and shoulders with kisses to show his appreciation for your loyalty and dedication to him.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

No. No. Absolutely not. We saw what he did to the lieutenants, do you really think it's a good idea for him to have ACTUAL children?!

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Mornings are spent hiding behind the impenetrable curtained windows, perhaps canoodling or preparing for sleep. He's not fitted for the sun at all- poor guy would probably burst into flames.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

You often wake up alone as he's already out and about. He has a lot on his plate so don't expect any sleeping in, even if you whine when you manage to wake up when he does. He does feel bad about it, though.

When he's done with his duties, he does eventually find his way back to you. 'Parallel play' is a reoccurring theme- he's doing his thing while you do your thing. After a while he'll be ready for one-on-one time with you, talking about your nights will sipping on goblets of blood.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

It takes a while for Kain to trust you enough. He'll start slow, tidbits of information that is harmless until he feels ready enough to get into the deeper stuff. Prepare for traumatic stories of events that Kain doesn't realize have traumatized him!

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Very easily, though he will have more leniency with you because he loves you. Do not poke at him, he can be scary when angry.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He remembers everything. He's recovered from his head injury at this point so his memory is much better. He is silent about his collection of facts about you, as to not appear vulnerable. But he does remember any trinkets or gifts you enjoy, and you will find them randomly.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Not quite a part of your relationship, but he always takes note of the first time he meets someone important. With you it was no different. The way you walked, stood, sat. Your clothing, how your hair was worn. How you spoke in the voice he has come to adore.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Kain is incredibly protective. Once he gets his empire back in shape, he keeps tabs on you at all times, for safety. He doesn't interfere or snoop in your business but he wants to know in an instant if you're being threatened or outright attacked. He cannot lose anyone else.

For him, Kain wants you to let him do the work. Let him set guards, add any protection magic, and the likes. Let him take the lead, let him feel in control.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

You might not think this arrogant and angry bastard (affectionate) would put any stock into relationships, but he tries to remember any last detail about you. If he can, he'll know the very minute you were born to make your birthday more special. He'll pull the stops for anniversaries related to you. He'd gladly throw a lavish party if you like (if you've made Vorador's acquaintance, he be glad to provide anything to help- you keep Kain out of trouble and he is grateful for that).

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Kain isn't very open. He's not outwardly affectionate. He can get caught up in his work and set you aside. Your best bet is to communicate with him- tell him what you want and why (the why isn't required but he is more likely to take it seriously if he understands). He might bitch and moan for a little bit (as is his nature) but he will do anything for you. Just be firm and maybe set little notes as reminders.

"Kain- be nice to me. Love, Y/N"

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He's far more handsome than he was as a human and takes pride in that fact. Kain loves his long hair and his talons, his dark eyes and his cadaverous white skin. He's a predator in almost every sense and you will be reminded of that with his ego.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

After a while in your relationship... yes. He feels like he's missing something but he can't put his finger on it until he has you back from whatever endeavor. He gets quite emotional when he realizes that you're so important to him, and he'll smother you with love for a few nights before he recovers from that realization.

Whatever you do, don't think about Kain losing you, whether to a human hunter or another vampire. Don't think about that piece of his soul that will be lost forever. Don't think about how he refuses to let himself mourn, forcing himself to work harder. Just don't think about it!

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Kain may be an asshole in every sense of the word, but he cares. He does. He might not show it the best but he adores you.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Be polite. Don't be a mess in a literal sense, he values cleanliness (don't look at his office). And for the love of the Pillars, do not snore- he will smother you with a pillow. (I'm certain that someone out there has a cure that doesn't involve death!)

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

He starts off on his back, resting like the corpse he is. Then after he falls asleep he'll sleep like a normal person, on his sides. Sleep cuddles are the best from Kain, he's finally quiet!
