Johnny Akana is an iconic actor and a member of the incredibly famous ‘brat pack’. Johnny, Diana, Rebecca and Jamie were the up-and-coming stars of their time. They all had their biggest break on a soapy teen drama that had more twists and turns than you could keep up with. At the time, Johnny wasn’t the kindest about the show, smearing it in the press. Looking back now though, it was some of the best fun he ever had and part of the reason he agreed to the new role in ‘Friday Night Bites’.

The other part of the reason he decided to return to acting after roughly a decade off, are his friends. His found family, his greatest loves. When he found out Jamie, Di and even Becca had agreed... it was a no-brainer. Johnny doesn’t know how their on-screen reunion will go but secretly hopes it’ll be like nothing has changed.

When it comes to getting in his own way, Johnny is a pro. He never learns, he always self-sabotages. Johnny’s made a million mistakes, played into being ‘just a dirtbag’ a million times but he wants to be better. He wants to not ruin everything he touches, everything he loves. It’s been a lifetime of learning for him and it’s still going.

Has a reputation for being a bit wild, you know? Scandal followed Johnny around but he wasn’t afraid to swing at the paparazzi when needed. There are several hotels he’s still banned from and about a million hearts left broken in his wake.

While on hiatus from acting, Johnny became a bit of recluse. He stayed in touch with Jamie the most, then Di but hasn’t heard from Becca in a long time. He tried to slow things down, take time for himself. Write, play guitar. Hell, he’s even been making his own sangria. Returning to public scrutiny won’t be easy but here he is.

Jamie Park - ‘brat pack’ member and a hot mess. Johnny and Jamie were famously married for exactly 16 days before calling it quits (just long enough to have the wildest honeymoon ever!). They’re both screw ups and soulmates, y’know?

Rebecca Ravenwood - ‘brat pack’ member, Johnny and Becca were always at each other’s throats when they were young. They were either arguing or laughing, screaming or dancing together. Johnny hasn’t spoken to her since her daughter was little.

Diana Watts - ‘brat pack member’. Johnny and Di were actually married (really married, not like with Jamie). She was everything good in this world and Johnny screwed it up. Some people just can’t be saved, right? Misses her like hell.

Ava St James hasn’t always been a good person. At least, not in their opinion. Much like their circle of friends and so-called friends, Ava never really cared about anyone who wasn’t someone. What Ava did care about was money, status, ‘could kill a man’ designer stilettos and people not getting their ludicrous coffee order wrong.

Things changed in their last year of high school. Sure, in the back of Ava’s head, they’d been feeling a little disillusioned with it all. The money, the drugs, the privilege. The shallow conversations, the destructive tendencies. Ava just wanted to see how anyone else lived outside of their inner circle which is how they ended up in some diner in Brooklyn.

It happened accidentally. Someone had mistook Ava for the new waiter and before they knew it, they were picking up plates and taking orders. No one treated Ava like they were anything special. No one knew them at all. It was... It was refreshing. So, Ava kept coming back. Having the secret job, making friends and telling them big, totally harmless, lies about who they were and what their life was like.

Keeping up a double life was hard work but Ava did it. There were several close calls and it was messy but Ava couldn’t stop. They didn’t want to disappoint their friends on the Upper East Side by bailing on plans but, y’know. A real job doesn’t really care about a mid-week ‘can’t miss’ party. Ava was frazzled trying to keep up with both social circles and lifestyles. Plus there was college to think about. And most of all, trying not to slip up or hurt the feelings of Ava’s person, Meredith Park.

So, here’s the thing. All of these feelings were building up and the lies were getting more and more. Ava and Meredith had pinky promised they’d take an extended gap year partying around the globe together, just the two of them. It was the plan. But then an opportunity came up for Ava to volunteer to help build houses instead. Ava knows Meredith better than anyone and it would have been a betrayal to say ‘yes’. They’d pinky promised that years ago. It just happened... Ava said yes, cancelled on Meredith and things haven’t been quite right ever since.

Meredith Park - listen! Meredith is Ava’s best friend in the whole damn world. Ride or die. Ava loves and cares about Meredith more than anyone and always will. That’s their person, their #1. But Ava can’t help wanting to do something else, something that makes them feel good even if Mer doesn’t understand. Is trying their best to smooth things over but it seems like all Ava’s ‘double life’ lies are catching up. 

Vanessa Abrams - co-worker from that diner in Brooklyn Ava started working in senior year of high school. Vanessa was really cool and Ava liked them so much. Of course, Ava also lied about almost everything about their life to Vanessa. It became even harder to sneak around when Vanessa got closer and closer to the Upper East Side.

Latife Levent - oh boy. Latife and Ava were a disastrous duo at any party together. The property damage alone... They might have also had a little thing. Latife probably thinks Ava is boring now since they stopped going out so much.

Sapphire Vandervort - another person Ava used to have messy fun with on the Upper East Side. Ava thinks about Sapphire still and hopes she’s okay.

Lili Mahdavi - Lili is basically a babysitter to Upper East Side brats and well, Ava did fit into the category. Lili actually helped a lot with keeping Ava’s double life a secret which seemed like the most important thing ever at the time. Ava’s grateful to have Lili around.
