Knowing me I’m gonna absolutely make this into a longer post but like. Isn’t it just SOOOOOOOO SILLY AND SO GOOFY that Luis bestowed the role of Sancho Panza onto Leon even though they’d only JUST met

Like,,,, Don Quixote isn’t just a book Luis loves a lot- he bases his ENTIRE MORALITY on his own ideas of what Don Quixote means and what the messages behind it are. He SURROUNDS himself with chivalric ideals and so, obviously, he holds that book and it’s characters VERY near and dear to him- hell, he doesn’t even let Ada or Ashley in on just how much this damn book means to him!!!!!!! The other scientists who he worked with during his time with Los Illuminados also called him Don Quixote, but realistically, how much would they have known of Luis’ deep-seeded love for that novel??????

So like. Clearly. There is NO WAY IN HELL Luis doesn’t understand the impact of Alonso (Don Quixote himself) and Sancho’s relationship. He ABSOLUTELY understands the importance of it and how vital to the tale each other are and how intrinsically intertwined they are in each others lives and how one would quite literally have not survived without the other and how they’ve gone through hell and back for each other (in Alonso’s eyes LITERALLY) and how Sancho was there for him when his illusions of fantasy finally faded away

So. Like. Luis picking Leon to call his Sancho HAD to be purposeful right????????

He HAD to have understood the weight of his words and the weight of his decision. Maybe Leon didn’t quite understand at first but Luis????? Luis knew DAMN WELL that Don Quixote and Sancho Panza’s relationship went further than two people who just happen to be on the same adventure. Luis picking LEON to be his Sancho was PURPOSEFUL.

He’s not just any old chum he happens to he stuck with; Leon is a man who fully encompasses EVERYTHING GOOD Luis believes in in the world. Leon is EVERYTHING his chivalric ideals want him to be. He’s an inherently kind and caring and selfless human being and he’s everything Luis wants to see in himself. He saved him from certain death and now they’re connected more by just the circumstances of their situation- they’d go through hell and back for each other and they HAVE. He wants Leon not just to like him but to LOVE him. Because Leon sees past his actions; he sees past his mistakes and up until now, nobody has ever given him that privilege. Just like how Sancho still believed in Alonso and still believed that there was worth in his fantastical delusions.

So how does Luis express this gratitude without just straight up saying ‘I love you’????

By using language he understands and is comfortable using, of course.

By projecting a story that has meant SO MUCH to him onto the both of them.

And GOD. THATS SO POIGNANT TO ME. HES TELLING LEON HE LOVES HIM IN A WAY HES BEST AT AND MOST COMFORTABLE DOING. HES SAYING ‘I LOVE YOU’ IN ALL OF HIS ACTIONS AND PROJECTIONS. WHICH MEANS MORE THAN THOSE THREE WORDS EVER COULD. HES USING HIS OWN LOVE FOR THAT BOOK TO PROJECT HIS LOVE ONTO THE PEOPLE HE CARES ABT GODDAMNIT‼️‼️‼️

(ALSO SIDENOTE THIS DOESNT JUST APPLY TO LEON!!!!! THIS APPLIES TO ASHLEY AND ADA TOO!!!!!!!!!!! HE PROJECTS THIS SAME LAMGUAGE ONTO THEM AS WELL, JUST NOT TO THEIR FACES!!!!!!!!!! HE SHOWS THEM KINDNESS AND LOVE IN HIS ACTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!)

And I think on some level Leon knows this too. He probably hasn’t analysed Don Quixote from every angle possible like Luis has, but he knows- in those final actions, when he takes up the mantle of his Sancho and confirms to Luis that, yes, he WAS a fine knight, he WAS his Don Quixote- I think he knew exactly what Luis had been trying to say to him this whole time. Just…. Using words that best describes it in his own way.

this week, in the spanish singing program operación triunfo, they sung escriurem, a song by catalan singer miki núñez - more specifically, they sung the version of the song he did with basque singer izaro, in catalan and euskera.

in operación triunfo it was sung by chiara, who is from menorca and thus speaks the menorquín dialect, very different from miki's barcelonese one (i don't speak catalan and still noticed the changes from the original to chiara's one); and martin, from the metropolitan area of bilbo (specifically getxo). for what i've seen people comment, his town doesn't really have many basque speakers, and his dialect is the one they learn at school, the most neutral one. izaro is from gipuzkoa (more specifically from mallabia) so i imagine they have different dialects as well, i haven't listened enough to the bilingual version to really get the differences but i'm sure a more trained ear will be able to do so!

To elaborate more on the “waiting for others even when you’ve gotten your food” thing - it’s considered rude to eat in front of company when their food hasn’t arrived yet afaik because it’s rude to eat in front of someone who’s hungry but has no food. It’s sorta in the same vein as how it’s rude to host guests and eat, without offering them something to eat as well.

Personally I think it’s silly and I usually forget that’s even a social rule that exists, but some people get real uppity about it

An extremely neat little worldbuilding detail I see in fics occasionally is that when humans would look up for divine inspiration, transformers look down. Because Primus is Cybertron, so down is good and up is bad because Unicron.

Just like how you'll see a lot of stained glass windows in various churches i feel like this would lead to a lot of engraved paths/floorings with cybertronian religious iconography. Because that would be so, so beautiful and an interesting difference.

Another cool thing i saw in "Nor His He Early" was the concept of 13 being an auspicious number but custom to have one of said thirteen [whatevers] unusable to represent the Fallen.

Also bringing up "Nor Is He Early" again because i know they did it thete but subglyphs or modifiers added to an initial glyph. I love it. Like, energon(ore) vs energon(fuel) vs energon(blood). Honestly, mentioning the Cybertronian languages and Binary in fics is amazing. Also the EM field stuff

Anna in Latin means year, ala annual. Therefore, one could bullshit for Palavani that Solana means "sun year" or more poetically "the light that gets us through the year" which is a nice name to give your daughter

I was trying to find something similar for Garrus. The obvious is garir, to defend or protect and therefore Garrus meaning something like warrior which would be fitting for turians. Except garir is old Germanic, not Latin.

So I went looking for Latin translations that could fit.

Now I'm imagining Mr and Mrs Vakarian looking down at their little bundle of joy who will not shut up and being like "Garrus. He's a Garrus".

Alternatively, he was named after their favourite kind of fish.

My love languages are strange my main one is is gift giving... not receiving them, but like giving a gift and seeing that person smile and get so happy. And knowing I am the reason for that smile.

Then I have words of affirmation, I love knowing I am doing a good job, either being said or in a note I love finding notes that are about me especially if they are good things. Or getting a kiss on the forehead gets me cheesing.

Lastly acts of service... like I love when someone does something so tiny and it seems insignificant but it means the world to me, like making me a playlist?!?!! Asking me if I eaten, am I hungry, can I bring you food? Lemme cook for you. Oh I am that persons forever... but I also love doing things for others to make their lives easier. It just feels good
