"Hold ya tongue!" #ladytremaine . . @blackbirdpirate has done it again. It's very VERY rare that I read a book to completion as soon as it's in my possession. I purchased the book on 7/10 around 7:45-8:00 pm. I didn't start reading until about 9:45-10:00 pm. I finished the book, with intermittent breaks, at 3:25 am. This, however, isn't about how fast/slow I read. This is about how invested I was in this story. Serena has been weaving melancholy tales about Disney's baddies since 2009 and has given @disneyvillains a new kind of life. I am always for seeing all sides of a story and that's just what Serena does. She gives the villains pathos and a rich history. Her incorporating of her #OddSisters into the mix, gives Disney's most sinister...their own conflict producing villains. #ColdHearted follows the story of #Cinderella wicked stepmother and her stepsisters. It's fantastical and whimsical and has the ability to be a #standalone book. I will say, however, that reading the whole villains series will put a few things into perspective and give the reader a deeper understanding of the relationships mentioned between the fairies at the fairy council. What I love most about Serena's stories is that the "movie" is injected toward the end of the book (naturally as most of the movies tend to tie everything up) which gives her so much to play with in terms of creating a full and flourishing backstory for not only the famous princesses and princes, but the infamous characters who made them. In terms of Cold Hearted we are given a deeper appreciation and understanding of why Lady Tremaine was so hard and chiseled. I won't reveal any spoilers, but I will say I truly couldn't put the book down. I am always tickled and enchanted by Serena's villains series and I can't recommend them enough.
