Akuma!Adrien
Anddd day 11 is done!! I hope I did this some justice even though I’m awful at writing akuma attacks haha. Lemme know what you think :)
AO3
“No,” Marinette spoke breathily, a shaky hand coming up to cover her mouth as she stared down at the akuma alert on her phone. She knew  exactly who it was from just one glance. It was Adrien. She would need to fight the love of her life.
Sucking in a deep breath, she shot a quick glance over at Tikki who was hovering over her shoulder nervously. Her kwami nibbled on her lip, looking anxious as she spoke up, “Are you going to be alright, Marinette?”
“I have to be,” she mumbled, steeling herself even more as she buried away any lingering feelings. “I need to save Adrien... even if I have to fight him to do it.”
Tikki nodded her head solemnly before Marinette called on her transformation, sucking the kwami into her earrings as she became Ladybug. She had hoped that this day would never come and she was still unsure about just how she was going to fight the boy who meant everything to her. Jumping up onto her balcony, she decided that she was going to need to lean on Chat for moral support during a lot of this fight. With a twirl of her yo-yo, Ladybug was off, heading to the spot Adrien had last been seen. She prayed that Chat Noir had arrived before her, not ready to fight him alone yet.
When she found him, however, her partner was nowhere in sight. Hoping that he would show up later, Ladybug immediately rushed into battle, already knowing that Adrien had the power to lock people up in cages from the akuma alert on her phone. She quickly blocked his attack from hitting an unassuming civilian, giving the young girl enough time to bolt away. Ladybug then looked at Adrien softly even as his emerald green eyes glared back at her with so much hatred.
“Nice to see you could join the party, little bug,” he spat out. “Now, where’s your partner-in-crime? Is the kitty in the kennel already?”
“Adrien,” she started out cautiously, taking a step closer to him. “You don’t want to do this. Hawkmoth is controlling you. This isn’t you.”
If anything, Adrien’s gaze got even more fierce and fiery with her words. His fists tightened and Ladybug got a glimpse of red string poking out from his grasp. That must be where the akuma is hiding, she realized quickly before snapping her eyes back up to his as he started speaking.
“And how would you know anything about that, little bug?” Adrien stalked closer to her, causing her to take a few steps back. “Hawkmoth has been controlling me his whole life. So how would you know if this is or isn’t me? Oh, and it’s not Adrien... not anymore... it’s Isolation!”
With a flick of his hand, he shot a wave of green beams towards her. Ladybug quickly dodged out of the way, missing the magic by an inch as she was still focusing on his words. Hawkmoth had been controlling him his whole life? What could that mean?! Scanning the skies hoping for a sign of Chat Noir, she sighed when there wasn’t one. Where was her partner? Could he have been put into a cage already?
Holding her hands up, Ladybug pleaded with him. “Adrien... please, you can fight this. You’re better than this. You’re one of the sweetest, kindest people I know.”
Adrien seemed to pause for a second, his gaze clearing up as he blinked at her. For a brief moment, she thought that it had worked. However, in the next second her hopes came crashing down as a purple mask appeared over his eyes. He shook his head and his hateful gaze came back. “No, you have no idea what I’m like! You don’t know me at all!”
“But I do,” Ladybug spoke softly. “Adrien, I know you better than anyone. And I know you wouldn’t do this unless something really bad happened. But it’s okay. You can trust me. Whatever it is, we can fix this together.”
“No you can’t!” he shouted, flinging another burst of magic at her that she avoided with a flick of her yo-yo. “It’s over, Ladybug! It’s all over, why can’t you understand that? So just give me your miraculous!”
She stumbled back as Adrien released a fresh onslaught of attacks on her. He sent wave after wave of the green beams of light that she was only barely managing to deflect. Ladybug wished that Chat Noir would show up for the millionth time that day, as she didn't have enough time to call on her Lucky Charm. Her partner never arrived and her hopes turned futile.
Adrien crept closer and closer to her and she knew that soon he would completely overpower her. Slipping, Ladybug crashed down onto the cold cement below, wincing as her breath got knocked out of her. Staring up at Adrien desperately, she watched as he leaned over her, forming another beam of power as he smiled down at her. “Any last words, little bug?”
It was now or never, she thought, gulping with fear as he loomed ever closer. Shutting her eyes tightly, she rushed out, “You can’t do this, Adrien. B-because... because I love you!”
Waiting for the last blow to come, Ladybug clenched her eyes closed even more, bracing herself. It never came, though. After a little while, she slowly peeked one eye open, peering up at him. Adrien had frozen in shock and even the purple mask over his eyes wasn’t enough to snap him back into his trance. The energy forming in his hand slowly disappeared as his fist loosened.
“What?” he whispered above her, searching her eyes for something.
Instead of answering his question, Ladybug struck quick as a flash. She yanked his hand open, grabbing the object he was holding and snapping it in two. Sighing in relief as the purple butterfly flew out of the lucky charm, she watched as Adrien became himself once again. She stood up, capturing the akuma before calling on a Lucky Charm and instantly sending it up into the sky, repairing any damages Adrien might have caused. She then quickly rushed over to the boy after he had collapsed on the road.
Ladybug patted his cheek lightly, worrying her lower lip as she shook him. “Adrien! Are you alright?”
“Mmm,” he groaned, his eyes peering open as he looked up at her in confusion. “Ladybug? What happened?”
“You got akumatized.” She gave him a small smile.
After she said that, Adrien sat bolt upright as his mouth fell open in shock. “I-I did?! Are you okay?! What did I do?!”
“I’m fine, Adrien. Don’t worry,” Ladybug reached down, squeezing his hand. Thankfully, he didn’t remember her confession. Taking a deep breath, she then proceeded with her question, “But... I need to ask, is everything alright?”
His gaze became depressingly sad as he slowly shook his head at her. Quietly, he whispered, “No. L-Ladybug... I-I know who Hawkmoth is.”
She froze, feeling her entire body tense up as she gazed down at him. That wasn’t supposed to happen to him. Not to Adrien. She was supposed to have figured that out with Chat or Alya after hours of research. Plus, thanks to his words from earlier she had a sneaking suspicion she knew who it was.
Hesitantly, Ladybug murmured, “W-who?”
“It’s my father,” Adrien responded, his gaze resolutely fixed on the road as he twirled the ring on his hand. “Hawkmoth is my father.”
She sucked in a breath through gritted teeth as she realized her suspicions were correct. He brought his head back up, meeting her gaze with his as he looked at her so sadly. Quickly, she crouched down beside him, holding Adrien in her arms as he buried his face in her arms. Ladybug ran her fingers through his hair as she wished that she could fix everything. Holding him to her desperately, she thought about how she could fix anything. “It’ll be alright, Adrien... I-I promise. Chat and I... we’ll fix this.”
He tightened his grip on her arm at those words, burying himself even deeper into her embrace. Sniffling quietly, she already decided that she and Chat would need to patrol later this evening. They had to fix this as soon as possible... or at least try. She couldn’t stand to see Adrien hurt like this. Whatever she could do... she would do. No matter what.

Ladrien June Day 30 - Squall: Speechless
This story is a sequel to my Marinette March, Adrinette April, and Marichat May stories; I highly recommend reading those first.
You can also read this story on AO3: Squall
---
Renard didn’t know what to say. For the first time since he’d arrived in this universe, he was speechless. Though this was what he had been working towards during the past fifteen or so hours, part of him had started to wonder whether it was actually going to happen – and now that it was, he wasn’t sure how to react. So he just stood there, staring at Coccinelle in dumbfounded silence.
“Well?” she prompted after several seconds. “Aren’t you going to take it?”
“I – yes,” Renard said, jolted into movement by her prodding. He slowly reached out and took the box from her, then opened it up.
The Black Cat miraculous stared up at him.
His heart twisted painfully.
It was a Black Cat miraculous, but not his Black Cat miraculous.
He hadn’t thought it would hurt this much.
“We’re holding you to your word,” Coccinelle said, and Renard looked back up at her. “I’m trusting you with this. We need you to bring it back as soon as you can.”
It didn’t escape Renard’s notice that she didn’t say ‘we’. He glanced over at Tortue, who didn’t look overly pleased with Coccinelle’s decision. He supposed he couldn’t blame Tortue for that; had their situations been reserved, Renard didn’t know that he would’ve been very happy about it either. But as it stood, he was just so grateful that Coccinelle was willing to trust him.
“Thank you. I swear to you that I will return it as soon as possible,” Renard said, closing the box. Looking at the miraculous right now was just too painful. He slipped it into his pocket instead.
“See that you do,” Tortue said. There was a silent warning in his eyes when he looked at Renard, which Renard didn’t take personally. He just nodded.
“Are you leaving now?” Coccinelle asked him. She seemed to expect Renard to leave right that moment. And while Renard very much wanted to, he was at the mercy of Ladybug’s return.
“My partner will be coming to get me,” Renard explained. “She should be here shortly. In fact, I should go wait for her.”
“Where will you go?” Coccinelle asked.
Renard opened his mouth to respond and then paused, suddenly realizing that he probably needed to go back to where he had first appeared. It seemed logical to assume that whatever portal that Ladybug opened this time would open up in the same place as the portal had the first time. And if that was the case, then Ladybug might already be there right now waiting for him!
“I can’t tell you but thank you so much for your help.” Renard bowed to her before he turned on his heel and jumped off the roof.
Theoretically Ladybug could just use the Horse miraculous to open up to a portal to him if she was here, but Renard could understand how she might be reluctant to do that when she didn’t know anything about this universe. For all she knew, Adrien was right smack in the middle of a bunch of regular people. No, it made much more sense that she would wait for him.
Much as he wanted to rush right back to the botanical garden, Renard was conscious of the fact that Coccinelle or, more likely, Tortue might be following him. So he made sure to take a circuitous route that led him through several darkened allies and around several sudden corners. It was a good twenty or so minutes before he actually stopped to scan the area around him.
He didn’t see either of them.
It was time to take the chance.
Renard set off for the botanical garden. It took about another twenty minutes to get there. Because it was so late, the building was close for the night. Not wanting to break a lock to get in, he ended up de-transforming.
“Can you unlock that for me?” Adrien said, pointing to the door.
“You couldn’t just break it?” said Trixx.
Adrien gave the kwami a look. “Stealing a phone for a few minutes is one thing, Trixx. Vandalism is something different entirely.”
“Fine, fine.” Trixx flew to the door and then through the door. The lock unclicked a few seconds later. Adrien grabbed the handle and opened it, relieved when no alarm sounded.
But that didn’t mean there wasn’t an alarm. It could just be a silent one. They needed to be fast.
Beckoning to Trixx, Adrien ran into the garden. The trees and bushes in the room were overwhelming, making it so that he couldn’t see anything. With Trixx hovering so closely, at least he knew that there couldn’t be anything dangerous in the room – but not being able to see anything was frustrating.
So he stopped to listen.
Nothing but the rustle of leaves and the faint sound of what might have been the heat pump.
“Ladybug?” Adrien called out, conscious of the fact that they were probably on camera. Marinette didn’t exist in this universe – yet – but it still seemed better not to use their real names.
For a long moment, there was nothing.
Adrien sighed, realizing that he had come too quickly. He was trying to figure out whether it was better to hope that no one had seen him and stick around for a while, or to err on the side of caution and monitor the building from a distance, when he heard footsteps. His head snapped up.
A security guard?
But no.
There she was.
His lady.

For @ladrienjune 2021 day 1 : Private Island
--
No beta, no grammar check. I'll come back to it later.
An AU where Adrien is never come to the public school and therefore never meet the guardian and Marinette become the guardian not long after she become a Ladybug because Master Fu passed away without giving her much clue about the Miracle Box because the grimoire is never found.
This is basically a sidekick!Adrien AU that I recently found and want to try to write it for once. 😭
--
The first time she met him was at one of Chloe party that she held on her family's private island. She was skeptical about this party. Chloe don't just invite people, not unless they're famous or rich, she would never. But upon knowing that she held this party for Ms Bustier's birthday make her lower her guard. After all, nothing could go wrong with that, right?
"Of course something must go wrong whenever Chloe is involved!" She rant, her yo-yo spinning in her hand in defence mode as she run to find somewhere safe so she could summon her Lucky Charm.
His soft-awkward laugh could be heard from the earpiece and she almost smacked her hand to her face. "No offence to your friends but she's does has terrible attitude." She muttered.
"None taken. There's a refreshing table not far from your right, you can throw it to the akuma to create an opening so you can go out from the akuma's view then turned left toward the corridor it should be give you enough space for you to summon your charm."
She glanced to her right and quickly found the table that he mentioned. "Got it." Just like he instructed, she quickly run toward the table and use her yo-yo string to throw it toward the akuma before she turned toward the corridor and summoned her Lucky Charm.
After that everything is going smoothly. She finally purify the akuma and reverse all the damage.
"Next time Chloe throw a party, remind me to not coming no matter what." She grumbled after she make sure the victim was okay and going to the room that he pointed out to detransform.
"You regrets coming tonight?"
"Ye-" she paused and contemplated her words. True that coming to this party had make her identity got revealed to him, (accidentally!!) which is a disaster. But at the same time, him knowing her identity also what make the fight tonight become smooth and faster, since he could guide her and pointed out something that she missed. "Okay, I'll give that half and half then." She said as she get into the room, lock the door behind her and let the magic of Miraculous washed away from her. "Which is, by the way, still dangerous for you." She added, blue eyes looks pointedly at the other occupant in the room.
"Tell you what, M'Lady? Dangerous is my middle name." He said after he raised from the chair and approached her with his outstretched hand and smile on his face. "Adrien Agreste."
She looked at his hands for a moment before she accept it. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Although I'm sure you know that."
"Considering how much time Chloe yelled your name tonight? Yes. But we never properly introduce each other so..." he shrugged.
She sighed. "Look, I'm grateful for your help tonight Adrien but..."
"It's dangerous, if somehow Hawkmoth know I know your identity then he could use that to his advantage, right?"
"Yeah..."
"But that is only a scenario /if/ he knows, what he doesn't know won't hurt you. Look," he said before she could reply. "Fighting alone is already dangerous, don't tell me you're never feel stressed all these months."
And he was right. She almost give up if she didn't remember that she's currently the Guardian because the old man has passed away, leaving her with a duty that shouldn't be her and a responsibility that no sixteen years old should have. Just how many lies she has told her family and friends in the past few months? Marinette was glad Alya is still her friends despite her keeping her at arm length now that she was busy with her duty. But then again, just how many close call she must endure before Alya renounce her friendship? After all, those lies and unexplainable disappearances was what make her break up with Luka. What stop Alya to do the same? The imagination of Alya leaving her make her clench her fist and it was only Adrien's soft touch on her shoulders that stop her from hurt herself.
"What I want to say is that, there's nothing wrong with telling people about it. No one should do it alone, not even you. I'm not saying you're not capable, it's the opposite, but there's only so much burden one can hold before they explode and trust me Marinette, I know."
She looked up at him, looking at his green eyes, understanding was in there, along with some emotion that she doesn't know.
"I know we just meet and you don't know me well but I do want to help you. Or maybe you can tell your secret with Alya-"
"No, you knowing is dangerous enough. I couldn't drag her too." She said, voice cracking. "And I shouldn't drag you too."
"You didn't though, this is something that I decided."
"It's dangerous."
"I know."
"You could be hurt."
"We don't know that."
"You don't have a miraculous."
"One does not need a miraculous to help. I can be your confidant and like tonight I can help you give another perspective and I don't need to be in the battlefield to help."
A confidant, a friends that she could share her burden, a friend she could tell about her secret. It does... Sounds appealing and as she feel the nudge from her purse, she glanced down to see Tikki's smile of approval.
"Okay." She finally said. "Just promise me you will be out from the battlefield, let me do the hard work."
"And I can help you from the shadow with my superpower!"
"She raised a brow. "A superpower? I thought you don't have a miraculous."
"No, I don't."
"Then what is this the superpower you mentioned?"
"I'm rich." He said with the stupidest grin she ever saw, one that make her laugh erupted.
Maybe tonight isn't as disaster as he thought it be.

Ladrien June Day 20 - Squall: Escape
This story is a sequel to my Marinette March, Adrinette April, and Marichat May stories; I highly recommend reading those first.
You can also read this story on AO3: Squall
---
Renard made his way back towards the Dupain Bakery, this time taking the more direct approach across the rooftops. Just as it had been this morning, the bakery was absolutely bustling with customers – the line literally stretched out the door. He crouched down on a rooftop opposite and stared down for a moment, contemplating the best way to handle this.
Part of him wanted to return the phone and apologize in person, but he was worried about getting in trouble.
The other part of him wanted to be a coward and send Trixx in instead.
Perhaps the best thing to do, he reflected, was check to see if Bridgette or Alice were working out front. If they weren’t, he could go in and leave Bridgette’s phone on the counter. He wouldn’t be able to apologize, but he also wouldn’t be leaving Trixx to make up for something that he had done.
He jumped down into an alley and de-transformed. With Trixx safely in his pocket, Adrien stepped out and made his way towards the bakery. This time, he was much more cautious about peeking inside the bakery window – he wouldn’t be able to avoid Bridgette or Alice if they saw him first again! But the only workers he saw was an older woman working the cash and a younger boy filling customer orders.
Okay. No sign of either of them. The coast was clear.
Trying his hardest to act casual, Adrien walked over to the door and entered behind an older woman. The same sweetly delicious smell from earlier surrounded him in an instant, and he couldn’t help inhaling deeply. There was just something wonderful about a bakery, and he couldn’t image how awesome it would be to grow up living above one. Marinette seemed to be pretty used to it, but Adrien envied her.
Well, he envied Marinette for lots of things. Not just because she lived above a bakery. The fact that she also had parents who actually loved her and who weren’t like, crazed super villains was also something to be jealous of as far as he was concerned.
“Come on, get out of the way!” a customer said behind him, and he realized he was blocking the entryway.
He obediently moved, which put him closer to a display of pre-packaged goods. Adrien surveyed them for a moment and suddenly wondered if he should bring Marinette a sweet. Would she like to try something from an alternate universe bakery? He thought that she probably would.
Tikki might too, once they got her back…
Actually Plagg would too, but it was going to be a little harder bringing cheese back then cookies.
Still, Adrien selected a little package of sugar cookies. He didn’t know what kind Tikki liked, but if she was anything like Plagg then she wouldn’t be too picky. He kept the package in the palm of his hand as he joined the line to the cash. There were about a dozen people in front of him, which gave him time to figure out what to do with the phone.
There was another little display of sweets just to the right of the counter. Adrien’s palms started to sweat as he got closer, and he thought longingly of escape. It wouldn’t be hard; the amount of customers had thinned out a bit, so he could just walk out right now and let Trixx return the phone…
No. No. Get it together, Agreste, he scolded himself.
He stepped closer, putting him on par with the display table. Adrien shuffled a couple of steps closer, then bent a bit like he was interested in looking at what was available. He took a quick glance around to make sure that no one was paying attention.
Then he quickly slipped Bridgette’s phone out of his pocket and set it down on the display table. At the same time, heart hammering, he pushed a package of cupcakes a little closer so that the phone was mostly hidden.
“Is that all, Dear?”
Adrien tensed and straightened, realizing that the older woman who was manning the register was looking at him expectantly. It wasn’t Sabine, but she looked a lot like an older version of Bridgette and Alice.
“Uh,” Adrien said blankly.
“If you want something from the counter, my son can get it for you,” she said. “Tom! Come here.”
And as the boy – young, probably Adrien’s age or maybe a year or two older at the most – made his way over, Adrien’s brain froze up.
Wait.
Tom.
Tom Dupain?!

Ladrien June Day 28 - Squall: Hobbies
This story is a sequel to my Marinette March, Adrinette April, and Marichat May stories; I highly recommend reading those first.
You can also read this story on AO3: Squall
---
Renard was sitting patiently atop the roof of the Dupain-Cheng when, shortly after midnight, he spotted a couple of dark shadows making their way towards. His heart immediately started to race, but he tried to maintain a calm façade as he stood up to greet them. Everything rested on this, but he didn’t necessarily want to make that evident to Coccinelle or Tortue.
“Hello Renard,” Coccinelle greeted as she landed nimbly on the roof. Tortue touched down beside her a few seconds later and straightened up to look at Renard.
“Hi,” Renard said, looking at Tortue curiously. Tortue was taller than he had expected, with a broad build across the shoulders. He looked intimidating, not that Renard was going to back down anytime soon.
“Beautiful night, huh?” Coccinelle said, gesturing around them.
“It is,” Renard agreed, glancing around. The skies were largely clear and the temperature was moderate for summer in Paris. It was warm, but there was just enough of a breeze to keep things comfortable. Were he back in his own universe, and things normal, this was a night where Chat Noir and Ladybug would’ve happily patrolled the hours away.
But of course, Coccinelle and Tortue didn’t need to worry about things like that. Patrol wasn’t a necessity for them because they didn’t have Hawkmoth or anything else to worry about. They were able to use the miraculous just for fun. Renard had to squash a flare of jealousy that popped up at that knowledge.
What would be like to just be with Ladybug and not have to worry about protecting Paris?
“I understand that you want the Black Cat miraculous,” Tortue said. His voice had no discernable accent, Renard deduced quickly, and he spoke French flawlessly, so he was probably native to Paris. Unless the miraculous magic was capable of concealing that too…
“That’s right,” Renard said with a nod. “But only to borrow, and only for a short period of time. I have plans to bring it back as soon as we’re finished with it.”
“We?” Tortue repeated.
“My partner and me. Her name is Ladybug,” Renard said.
Coccinelle smiled. “I almost used that name too. I probably would have, but Coccinelle caught on so quickly and then after that there didn’t seem to be much point in trying to change it.”
“If your Black Cat miraculous got damaged, how do we know that the same thing won’t happen to ours?” Tortue wanted to know.
And honestly that was a fair question, even if Renard didn’t particularly like the challenging tone that it was uttered in.
“We weren’t ready for what happened in the last fight. We didn’t know who Hawkmoth was,” Renard explained. “But now that we know, we’re more prepared. We’ll have the rest of our team with us, too.”
That might be a lie. Alya would be able to help if they decided they wanted her there, because they still had the Fox miraculous, and they might be able to give the Horse miraculous to someone like Nino since Max had only used it once. But Renard wasn’t sure how Ladybug would feel about giving the Rabbit miraculous out. It wasn’t really a miraculous that was helpful in the heat of a battle.
But Coccinelle and Tortue didn’t need to know that.
“We have a good plan in place,” Renard continued, now straight-out lying through his teeth.
He hoped Ladybug had a plan, but he didn’t know that for sure.
“I know that we’ll be able to handle things no problem. It’s just that our plans hinges on being able to make use of Cataclysm.”
“Why can’t you fix your miraculous?” Tortue said, folding his arms over his chest.
Renard met his gaze calmly. “We can, but it takes time. There is a special process that has to happen. We don’t have the luxury of waiting that long. I’m afraid of what Hawkmoth might do in the meantime.”
“But Tikki told me that the power of the Miraculous Ladybug can fix damage,” said Coccinelle, and Renard had to assume that she’d misunderstood what Tikki had said. Ladybug couldn’t just snap her fingers and fix, for example, a car accident. Still, he didn’t want to go too far into that with Coccinelle.
So he just said, “Just because we can fix the damage doesn’t mean we want the damage to happen in the first place. Destroying Paris is one of Hawkmoth’s favorite hobbies, and a lot of people are getting hurt in the process. It’s our job to protect them.”

Blue-bell eyes
Day 8 is doneee!! And it’s my first reveal for Ladrien yayaya!! I hope you guys enjoy ittt!! There’s also a tinnyyyy bit of Adrienette so I also hope you don’t mind haha. Lemme know what you think <3
AO3
Adrien was currently facing a dilemma. One that centered around a pair of bright, blue-bell eyes. Well, more like two pairs of blue-bell eyes. That was the issue that he was currently facing. He had always assumed that it was only his lady that held those particularly beautiful, shining blue eyes. Now, though, he couldn’t keep his mind off of another pair of eyes whenever he looked at her.
For some odd reason, he kept seeing Marinette’s eyes in Ladybug’s. Adrien felt like he was going crazy. There was no reason for him to see one of his best friend’s eyes when he was staring at his lady. Even worse, he was currently sitting right next to her as they watched a show together. Adrien shot another glance at her out of the corner of his eyes, sneaking a peek at her eyes. Yep, he was still going crazy. Unable to stop himself, he heaved out another loud sigh, drumming his fingers on his lap.
Ladybug must have heard him, though, because a frown creased her brow. Quickly, she pulled the remote over to her, pausing the show as she glared over at him. He widened his eyes in shock, making a noise of confusion as he turned to meet her angry gaze.
“Why did you do that?” Adrien asked, gesturing at the television.
“Because that’s the fifth sigh you’ve had in the past two minutes,” she threw her arms up in exasperation. “Is something wrong Adrien? Are you alright?”
Ladybug’s blue eyes peered at him with such concern and worry that was just so familiar. He flinched back, pinching himself as he tried to stop the feeling that that was Marinette looking back at him.
She also leaned back in horror, her eyes widening as she placed a hand on her chest. “Oh my god, is it me?! Am I what’s bothering you?! Do you want me to go?”
Adrien winced as Ladybug scrambled up, banging her leg against his small table. She then began to stammer out apologies, “I’m so, so forry! I-I mean sorry! I-I know didn’t! I mean I didn’t know!”
He choked on air as he watched her stammer and stutter on her words. Once again, that brush of familiarity struck him. It was almost impossible for him to not see Marinette peering back at him in Ladybug’s mask. Shaking his head, Adrien stood up as well. There was no time to focus on that because Ladybug had gotten the worst idea stuck in her head. Quickly, he reached out, grasping her hand in his tightly. He gave it a soft squeeze before staring at her imploringly. “That’s not it at all, Ladybug. This isn’t your fault. If anything... it’s mine.”
Her brow creased with another frown but her other hand slowly dropped her yo-yo back to her hip. “What do you mean... your fault?”
A pink blush lit up his cheeks and Adrien sank down onto the couch with a groan, covering his face with his hands. He heard Ladybug sit down next to him and then felt her hand rub against his back gently. Slowly, he removed his hands and met her gaze once again. Quietly, he mumbled, “I keep seeing my best friend whenever I look at you.”
Her mouth fell open adorably before she gave him a small, shy smile. “Is that really so bad?”
“You don’t understand,” Adrien said sadly, shaking his head. “I’m seeing my best friend when I look at you.”
Ladybug blinked in confusion before her tinkling laugh filled the room. She raised an eyebrow at him before asking with amusement clear in her voice, “You think I look like Nino?”
“What? No!” he stared at her in shock before chuckling himself. “No, I don’t think you look like Nino. I think you look like my other best friend.”
She tilted her head at him curiously. “Who’s that?”
“Well, it’s your eyes,” Adrien started, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “They just really remind me of my classmate’s. T-they look a lot like, um, Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s...”
“What?!” Ladybug screeched, jumping to her feet as she banged her leg against his table once again. She winced, rubbing the tender spot before chuckling nervously. “I-I mean, uh... who?”
He slowly raised an eyebrow at her curiously. Crossing his arms across his chest, he asked skeptically, “You know Nino but you don’t know Marinette?”
“U-uh, Marinette, no. I-I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting her.” Her eyes darted from side to side as she shifted uncomfortably.
Well, now that was a blatant lie. He knew for certain that Ladybug and Marinette knew each other. Quite well, in fact, because she had given the girl a miraculous. And there was that time she assigned Chat Noir to watch over her. So... why would she lie? It made no sense. Unless...
No, Adrien thought, shoving aside the idea as quickly as it had come. He would never be that lucky. And, besides, he had already seen the two of them together when Marinette had been Multimouse. He still couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling, though. Slowly, he stood up, watching as Ladybug’s eyes followed his movements anxiously.
“Really? You know Nino but not Marinette?”
Once again, her eyes skittered away from him. “Yep!” Ladybug said with fake cheer. “S-she, um, sounds like a lovely lady, though. F-from the way that you talk about her I mean.”
Adrien sucked in a deep breath, wondering if this was going to be either the stupidest thing he had ever done... or the smartest. Clearing his throat, he asked, “So, Marinette isn’t Multimouse, then?”
Her head whipped back around to face him. Her eyes narrowed as she scanned him up and down. “How did you...?”
Ladybug’s words trailed off before she gasped, slapping a palm to her mouth as she stared at him in horror. Slowly, she removed her hand to murmur one, quiet, little word, “Kitty?”
“Hello, m’lady,” Adrien bowed with a bright grin on his face. When he leaned back up, he spoke with a smirk, “Or should I say Marinette?”
She choked on air lightly, her blue-bell eyes getting even larger as she gazed at him. Eventually, she muttered, “B-but... how did you know?”
“Just like I said,” Adrien chuckled, gesturing to her face as he gave her a mischievous look. “Your eyes gave you away.”
Ladybug squeaked and the next thing he knew, her lips were on his. His eyes widened in shock before they fluttered closed, holding her tightly to him as fought to keep this kiss in his memory. He was not about to forget this. It was too important.
After a few moments, she pulled away, murmuring with a pair of swollen lips, “Was that okay?”
“That was just perfect, m’lady.” Adrien beamed down at her before cupping her cheek, connecting their lips together once again. He had definitely been right before. That was the smartest thing he had ever done.
