The English term creole comes from French créole, which is cognate with the Spanish term criollo and Portuguese crioulo, all descending from the verb criar ('to breed' or 'to raise'), all coming from Latin creare ('to produce, create'). The specific sense of the term was coined in the 16th and 17th century, during the great expansion in European maritime power and trade that led to the establishment of European colonies in other continents.
The terms criollo and crioulo were originally qualifiers used throughout the Spanish and Portuguese colonies to distinguish the members of an ethnic group who were born and raised locally from those who immigrated as adults.
They were most commonly applied to nationals of the colonial power, e.g. to distinguish españoles criollos (people born in the colonies from Spanish ancestors) from españoles peninsulares (those born in the Iberian Peninsula, i.e. Spain).
However, in Brazil the term was also used to distinguish between negros crioulos (Africans born in Brazil from African slave ancestors) and negros africanos (born in Africa). Over time, the term and its derivatives (Creole, Kréol, Kreyol, Kreyòl, Kriol, Krio, etc.) lost the generic meaning and became the proper name of many distinct ethnic groups that developed locally from immigrant communities.
Originally, therefore, the term "creole language" meant the speech of any of those creole peoples.

Enough is Enough
Pairings: Roman Reigns/Wheeler Yuta, Roman Reigns/Bryan Danielson, implied Shield/BCC/Renee
Summary: Roman sees the interview, he decides it's time for a visit
Disclaimer: I don't claim anything but the idea; characters (unfortunately) and gifs aren't mine.

Yuta is distracted as he walks into the house, Claudio and Mox have given up trying to talk to him or talk him out of his mindset since they left the building. It had been a few hours, but he just can't move past that interview with Bryan. He knows he should be a better boyfriend and check in with Mox after that ending to his match with Hangman, but he's stuck too far in his head.
He kept hoping that maybe Bryan would come after him after he left the interview, but he hadn't seen him even when they were getting ready to leave. Yuta suspects that he's already here at the house, or he had gotten a hotel room, he really didn't know which was worse at this point and that scares him.
With his head down and checking Twitter (again) to see what people were saying about the show, Yuta didn't see the figure waiting on the couch, but the three men behind him did and they decided to make himself scarce for now.
Tumblr media
Roman waits on the couch for the arrival of the rest of his lovers, having already been welcomed by Renee and Bryan when he got here. He is lost in his thoughts, thinking back to the conversation he had had with Bryan after Renee left them alone with each other.
With a soft kiss to Renee, he had whispered to her that would like a moment alone with Bryan. She gave him a long look, communicating her plea to him not to do anything rash with that look. He nodded and gently nudged her toward the stairs, then turned to walk toward the couch.
"Roman I can't believe you're here. Are you okay?" Roman puts his bag beside the couch, deciding to move it to a room later when he decides if he's sleeping in his room or one of his lovers'.
"I saw the interview," Bryan's face falls and Roman can't help but feel a small shiver of glee. "and considering I already did my tapings for Smackdown, and I was close by, I decided I should come visit."
"Roman-". Roman's face hardens, and Bryan stops the excuse coming out of his mouth.
"Don't Roman me, Bryan. I was going to come earlier, at the beginning of all of this bullshit, but Seth and Mox convinced me to give you some time. We all know how you get when you're determined, you become single-minded, and we've always been fine with it, but I've decided that someone has to pull your head out of your ass." Roman glares at Bryan as he opens his mouth to interrupt.
"I would shut your mouth if I were you, I'm really not in the mood. I have watched Yuta wilt for weeks, every time we're on video chat or phone call I can see and hear how tired he is. Of course, any time I ask him about it he comes up with another reason, but it all circles back to you and your precious Daniel Garcia." Roman spits the name out like it was poison. He pulls out his phone and opens Twitter. "Let's see, what was it you said about Garcia in front of your boyfriend and student? Oh yeah, here we are."
Roman plays the interview back for Bryan again, rolling his shoulders as he hears Bryan praising Daniel Garcia and the future he sees for him, calling him the best, and Roman tries to hold back his Tribal Chief anger. All he can picture as the video plays is his baby's face. The heartbreak and sadness that people mistook for a mentee's sadness or the loss of a hero, Roman knew was Yuta's heart literally breaking at the thought that his boyfriend no longer cared for or loved him.
"I want you to see his face Bryan, actually look at him. How can you act like you have no idea what could possibly be wrong with him? You're not just his mentor and hero in this situation, at least that would be easier to swallow and get over."
Roman steps closer to Bryan, grabbing him by his face and making him look up into Roman's eyes. Bryan struggles for only a second before he lets Roman take control, putting his hands on Roman's hips. Roman can see tears willing in Bryan's eyes, but he can't focus on those right now, he has to make sure Bryan understands.
"You are supposed to be his lover, one of his confidants, and you are especially supposed to be his safe space." Roman squeezes Bryan's face gently for emphasis. "He is breaking apart inside and you don't see it, or you're choosing not to, I don't know which is worse really. Are you really so determined to have this student at your side that you are blinded to the one that has been there since the beginning?"
Roman can feel the tears that are filling up and going over his hands, dripping onto Bryan's white shirt and down Roman's arms. He can't stand it anymore and pulls Bryan into his chest, holding him tight. Bryan, who rarely cries, freely does so now into Roman's chest. They don't know how long they stand there like that, Roman petting down Bryan's back and whispering into his ear. As the tears slow, Roman makes Bryan look up and focus on him again.
"Bryan listen to me carefully, you need to make this right. I don't care how you do it, but it needs to be done. Please don't take this as a threat, but don't make me choose between you and Yuta, Bryan, I love you both and it would break my heart." He leans down to place a soft kiss on Bryan's lips, holding him gently and stroking his cheek, breaking away after a few seconds. "Do you understand, my Dragon?" Roman lowly growls out.
"I understand Big Dog, I'll make sure to fix this, I don't know how yet but I will." Bryan sighs and steps back away from Roman. "They should be back soon, I'll let you have time with Yoots for the rest of the night and I'll speak to him tomorrow. Maybe Renee can help me with some ideas." Bryan starts to walk away but turns back to Roman. "I love you too, Ro, I'm glad you're here."
Roman's eyes follow him up the stairs until he can no longer see him and sits down heavily on the couch. He scrubs his hands over his face, trying to figure out how he can help ease this process between Bryan and Yuta along.
"Roman?"
Roman snaps out of his thoughts and turns to see Yuta looking at him concerned. Roman smiles and places his hand on Yuta's face, almost purring when his baby leans into it. He can see traces of sadness and exhaustion on the young man's face and hopes his presence can help get rid of some of the negative thoughts.
"Hey baby, hope you don't mind some company." He looks around to see that he and Yuta were alone. "Where did everyone go?" Yuta looks confused and turns to look for the others, seeing that they were gone.
"Oh, I guess they decided we needed some alone time."
Yuta throws himself into Roman, pushing the bigger man further into the couch. Roman situates himself and Yuta so that he's reclining back with the smaller man almost on top of him. Yuta sighs happily as his head is pillowed against Roman's chest and he almost moans at the feeling of his lover petting through his hair. His other hand rests on his lower back and Yuta can feel the heat radiating through his shirt.
"You comfortable baby?" Yuta can feel his boyfriend's chest rumble from laughter and situates his head so he can lay it directly over Roman's heart.
"Yeah alofa (love), I'm good." Roman can hear the slight slurring of Yuta's words. "I'm so glad you're here, I've missed you and Seth so much. I love you, Roman. Thank you for coming.
Roman runs his fingers through Yuta's hair until he feels him fall asleep. He looks down as best as he can without disturbing his sleeping lover and kisses the top of Yuta's head, then gets closer to his ear.
"I love you so much, o lo'u alofa (my love), hopefully, it'll all be better tomorrow." He whispers. Roman slowly pulls his phone out and sends a quick message to Seth, then lays his head back and drifts off to sleep.
A huge thank you to @sinderellanightwolf and IperOuranos for all the help with this drabble and the others to come! I wouldn't have started writing them without y'all! I hope you all enjoy these and be on the lookout for the others to come! Much love ❤️
Also @sarahcakes613 this is your Comfort!Yuta story that I promised you ☺️ And I 100% think that Yuta would want to learn Samoan after hearing Roman and his family speak it, so of course, Roman taught him the most important word 😍

Sometimes I mess around with the idea of switching some of my OCs looks (my ocean exploring story charas in this case). I don’t think gender-bending is the correct term because some of them are nb to begin with; but idk what term to use??? I guess I just switched some physical traits? Xarient looks exactly the same for example and Tycho doesn’t change a whole lot. Charlie changes their look depending on how they’re feeling that day and they’re pretty androgynous half the time so???? Presentation play might be a term I’ve seen before. I was just curious. Original designs are the small versions, grouped together in the secondary photos.
(This is original stuff so I doubt people will see and read this, but if anyone has a better term please let me know!)

Top 10 Misconceptions About Africa !! "-Africa is a Country Africa is not a country, but a continent. In fact it is the second largest, and second most populated, continent besides Asia. Africa has about 1 billion people and 61 different countries within it. So to end this misconception& Africa is definitely not a country! -Africa is a Desert While there are a few deserts in Africa (like the Sahara Desert in the North and the Namib Desert in the Southwest of Africa), large parts of Africa, especially central Africa, are tropical rainforests. On high mountains, like Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, are subarctic conditions. Furthermore, large areas in Africa have savannah plains, which are similar to prairies. So Africa is definitely not just a desert. -Africans Live in huts Many people believe that all African people live in mud and dung huts. This is complete nonsense. There are buildings and towns and cities in every country in Africa. If you were to google the capital of any country you would be surprised by what you see. That is also not to say that no people in Africa live in huts, as there are a lot of tribes that still choose to live in their traditional villages in huts, but the bulk of each country have become westernized and civilized. Even in Africa you find those landscape spoiling skyscrapers and concrete covered metropolises -Weird Food This misconception does hold a small amount of truth to it, but nothing like what most people think. First of all, not all food in Africa is strange. It is not difficult to find a KFC or McDonald’s in many countries in Africa. There are restaurants where you can order a nice and juicy filet steak, seafood, pizza, pasta, burgers and basically whatever else you can think of. One of the most popular family meals in southern Africa is a “braai,” which is just an ordinary classic barbecue. In the more rural villages and tribes the people hunt for their food and so eat mostly game meat and, on occasion, they will eat certain types of worms, like the Mopani worm. It is impossible to find these foods in the towns and cities, so if you were ever to come and visit Africa, I doubt that you would even come across any of these. -Animals Galore I have been asked on so many occasions if I have a pet lion, or if there are antelope outside my house. Well let me ask you – do you have a pet bear??? Of course not, there are just as many wild animals walking through my city at the moment as there are in New York. Wild animals are kept out of towns and cities by the lack of food, habitat and fences. The animals outside the cities and towns are completely wild and even the select few people that have hand-reared a lion will tell you that a wild animal will always be wild. So no, there are no wild animals walking down the street… The only wild animals that are everywhere in my town are the meerkats. -Technological Void This one I always find very funny. People that I have conversations with online are often shocked that I come from Africa and that I have a computer. In one hilarious exchange I had a guy believe that I was using a steam powered computer! Let me just put it like this: Africa has almost everything the rest of the world has, we just get it a couple of months later than everyone else. And no, we aren’t still stuck on dial-up! -African Language This is one of the most ridiculous ones I have ever heard. I think Africa is the most diverse continent in the world as there are hundreds of different languages spoken across it. Even just in my country, Namibia, there are 20 national languages including German, Afrikaans, English, Oshiwambo, Otjiherero, Portuguese, as well as the languages of the Himba, Nama, San, Kavango and Damara. Every country in Africa has at least five lesser languages as well as the common language, and it is true that many of these languages have clicks in them, but they are definitely not all the same language. -Few Hotels Let me just clear this bit of confusion immediately by saying there are plenty. To prove my point I have chosen to use agoda.com to pull the number of hotels they have from all the listed cities in South Africa. The results were as follows : Johannesberg – 62, Cape Town – 84, Durban – 52, Knysna – 56, Port Elizabeth – 39, Umshlanga – 31, Nelspruit – 17 and Hermanus – 31.That is a total of 372 hotels in South Africa, and considering those were just the ones listed on the one website I think it is safe to say that there are plenty of hotels in Africa. And it is very easy to land yourself in the lap of luxury in a Hilton hotel. -No Toilets On this one I would like to admit that every country has its own taste in toilets. I have traveled to a few countries and a toilet is a thing that is as different as the culture. American toilets have a tendency to be full of water, almost to the top. Italian toilets have a platform at the front of their toilets with a small hole with water at the back. The Thai toilets, in the more rural areas, are just like squatting platforms with no bowl or seat. With that said, I would say that southern Africa’s toilets are reasonably normal. They have a bowl, a seat, and water, a little less water than the American and a little more water than the Italians. There Are some pit latrines and long drops in the desert, but those are mainly just for people that feel the need to camp out in the middle of nowhere, but still don’t just want to squat behind a bush. -Black Africans For all those who believe that all African people are black, are all American people Native Americans? Hundreds of years ago, European explorers, conquerors and settlers traveled around the globe and developed the land they settled on. This happened all over the world including in North America, South America, Asia and Africa. The first white people that settled in Namibia for example, were Portuguese and did so over 400 years ago. Dutch settlers went to South Africa, French settlers went to Angola, and so the white people in Africa grew in numbers over the last 500 years. There are many white people in many countries in Africa, but that’s not all, there are also a lot of Indian, Chinese and Malaysians in South Africa. South Africa is known as the rainbow nation, and rightly so. African is not a race!I have, on several occasions, heard people say, when describing their ethnicity, that they are (for example) 1/4 Spanish, 1/4 British, 1/4 Russian, 1/4 Black. That is incorrect as the first three races that they mentioned are all white, so why generalize about your black genetics? The Ovihimba people are as different as night from day compared to the Herero people, and they are all black. In Africa you also have different colors of black for the different tribes and different areas in Africa. As an example, the Angolan people tend to be almost blue black in color, whereas the San people are much lighter in complexion, more of a dark tan color, and the Ovahimba people (above) pride themselves in a reddish undertone. If you are black, or have some black genes in you, I would advise you to find out more about your family history and where your ancestors came from, than to generalize and say that you are just black."
