I mentioned in a reblog thing that I'd wanted to make a Rise comic series called "ROTTMNT: UNPAUSED" and I hinted to one of the finale episodes being called "Mikey's Birthday Bash"

Well I'm gonna infodump about that now...

So basically the episode started off with Mikey waking everyone up for a special breakfast to celebrate his bday, only to discover that not only did his brothers forget his bday, they all made plans of their own. To quickly make up for it, the guys take him into the Hidden City for a quick shopping spree before they all have to leave for their engagements. While Mikey is looking for something to buy, he overhears his brothers conversing about how in the next year, Raph won't be a TEENAGE mutant ninja turtle anymore (he is 17 currently). Donnie adds that he is already looking for colleges to join and hopes for an early admission. Leo also admits he has been planning for the future. Mikey realizes that his brothers are all planning to leave and grow up, which he is not ready for. He runs away crying, and meets a strange old hag who sells him a "special" birthday candle, which she promises will grant his biggest birthday wish.

Mikey finds his bros again and uses the candle on a meager cupcake they got for him. As soon as he blows the candle out, the four are transported into a version of the Battle Nexus, trapped there along with every other character from the show (and my comics) by the hag who sold Mikey the candle. She reveals that Mikey's wish was for "everyone to spend my birthday together", and the only way for them to escape is for the turtles to win the tournament! The bros are furious at Mikey for making the wish, and Mikey promises to get through the games as quickly as possible so they can get back to their plans and leave.

The hag states that the turtles will be pitted against their previous enemies, and with each round they win they'll will receive more allies. Anyone KO’d will be eliminated from the round and sent to watch in the audience, and upon the ending of the game all contestants will be returned to their last location. The enemies will get progressively more challenging until they defeat all of their opponents.

Round 1, April is with the guys, and they are up against Baxter Stockboy, Albearto, and the Purple Dragons.

Round 2, the Casey Joneses join the fight against the Foot Clan.

Round 3, Draxum, Splinter, Big Mama, and the two missing siblings hinted at by the writers join against the evil league of mutants and the Mud Dogs. April is KO’d after getting slammed into a wall and knocked unconscious by Heinous Green. Cass is KO’d by Hypno after he hypnotizes her to knock herself unconscious as well. Draxum is KO’d by Meat Sweats after he steals his power.

Round 4, Several characters (such as Agent Bishop and Mona Lisa) join to fight against the Triceratons (which were introduced in my series). During this round, everyone is K.O.'d except the turtles. However, Mikey sees that he didn’t finish the battles in time and his brothers have missed their appointments. He feels guilty, and his brothers are admittedly irritated.

Round 5, the final boss battle. They are pitted against the Shredder and the Kraang. Before the fight begins, Mikey has a blowout with his brothers and finally admits that he was angry they were gonna leave because he was scared of growing up, as he is not ready to be an adult yet and he doesn’t want to be alone. The Kraang interrupts stating “I can help you with that” and captures Mikey. However, the Turtles get one last team member… Karai. The Shredder -- having been defeated and Oroku Saki redeemed -- turns against the Kraang and sides with the Turtles and his daughter. The boys defeat the Kraang using the special formula from the movie, but not before the Shredder and Karai are K.O.'D by the Kraang. The Kraang are defeated with the last of the mixture, but to the boys' horror they see that Mikey was kraangified, and now have to fight against him as their last opponent. They try, but are unable to defeat him due to his increased strength AND his ninpo. Leo refuses to admit defeat, saying “Mikey never gave up on me… I can’t give up on him.” He tries one last attack, grappling with Mikey and holding him down...

I happened to make sketches of what came next...

The game finished, everyone is returned home. Mikey apologizes for everything, but Raph admits that he isn’t ready to grow up yet either, and he never wants to leave Mikey alone. He found out the hard way what that felt like, and the brothers agree to wait a little longer to grow up and enjoy being the teenage mutant ninja turtles while they can. Back at the lair, everyone bursts in to make sure Mikey is okay. They spend the rest of the day with him, enjoying his birthday...

(Pronounced ah-shee)

"Show me hell? I've already been there, how bout I show you instead?"

Ashi's alarm went off. Blaringly loud. 'Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to set my alarm so freaking early?' He groaned, rolled out of bed, and slapped the dismiss button. Grumbling and shuffling over to the bathroom. He splashed water on his face to further wake himself up. Looking up in the mirror he froze, gripping the sides of the sink. 'That, is not my normal eye color' The eyes reflected in the mirror were not his normal pale aqua green, instead they were completely pink with slit pupils. 'Infact they look like....no. no. No. No. No. No. It's been months!' 'Why hello, I see you've finally noticed, too bad it's too late..for you.' He hissed into the mirror at the voice in his head. He hated it, it was slithery and felt wrong, so very very wrong. He gripped the sink harder cracking the porcelain. He forced the voice back and with it the signs of infection. "It is NOT too late." Ashi whispered forcefully. Not on his watch.

Returning to his room, posthaste, he grabbed his only remaining hoodie that had survived the invasion. Pulling it over his head and flipping the hood up, he grabbed his phone. 'There's one place that might have what I need, and that's the mystic library.' He grinned wryly to himself. 'Time to visit the Hidden City.'

Surprisely the Mystic library was very much still intact. Which was good, it would have been a pain to dig through rubble. After procuring the section location he needed from the librarian and arriving there, he proceeded to speed read any volume that pertained to what he needed. He obtained a half success. He found the spells, incantations, and runes he needed, but they all required things he did not have. 'Guess I'm doing a little ninja 'training' today.'

And by training Ashi meant stealing. From the yokai living in the hidden city.

It went quite well. He had always been more stealthy and better at slight of hand than any of his brothers (maybe even Pops) After successfully nabbing the things he needed, and a few he didn't, he did a quick Google and hack to find a suitable location. When he found one, he immediately headed there 'No way was he wasting time, with that thing in his head. The faster I do this the safer my brother's will be'

(He just forgot that one of them had a tendency to plant trackers on his siblings, all of which were freaking out. He also kinda forgot to tell them he was going out.)

"Why in the world would he be here?! It's practically a nuclear bunker?!" Raph waved his hands in exclamation at the 'bunker'. "Maybe he wanted some extra privacy. Why would I know?!" Mikey pushed between his brothers. "Calm down, let's just ask him. Tracker says he's inside, right Dee?" "Yes" Donnie huffed. 'Typical of his brother to run off without saying anything. Which didn't really worry him, what worried him was that he wasn't answering his phone, he wasn't even reading their texts. Which meant something was wrong' Raph reached for the door handle and was pushed back by a pulsating rune that lit up upon contact then faded away. "What?" Shock was written across all four of their faces. "Why is there mystic runes here? How'd Ashi get in then?" Dread settled in Mikey's stomach at Leo's question, with a sinking feeling he spoke quietly, afraid he was right. "I think...he wrote them." "Why?!" "I didn't know he knew such complex spells" Donnie mentioned after getting the rune to appear again. Flipping his goggles down and activating the mystic sensors in them, he looked at the bunker and froze. "Guys." His brothers continued bickering. "GUYS." They stopped, looking at Donnie in surprise. "I don't think we're getting in, the bunker is coated in layers of spells. And no, there are anti portal spells you can't portal in Leo." He added as his twin opened his mouth. Mikey yanked out his phone. "I'm trying again." "Mikey he probably wo-" "I know! But something is wrong, and I have to try" After three rings Ashi finally answered his phone. "Ashi what's going on!?" "Are you okay?!" "Why haven't you been answering?!"

A beat then "Ah, I'm just fine, chillax and go home." His voice was tired and a little scratchy. "Ashi." Raph's voice was dangerously low and stern. A defeated sigh came through. "The runes will disappear after the infection is gone....or when I die. I rigged 'em up for that." "....What do you mean die? What 'infection'?" Silence. Then a hiss of discomfort. Except the hiss didn't sound like their brother it sounded like...the Krang. "No, Ashi please it-it can't be...it's been months. There's no way it could've-" "Sorry I gotta go evict 'Mr I make blobfish look good'. I love you guys."

-Click.

Two glowing red fist smashed into the runes over and over and over, to no avail. "Ashi, brother please don't do this."

Tears streamed down Mikey's face as he clutched his phone hands trembling. 'This was like when Leo was trapped in the prison dimension, but worse. His brother was here, right in front of him and he couldn't do anything.'

Ashi hung up the phone. He smiled at his wallpaper, it was a photo he had secretly taken of his brothers in a turtle pile a few years back. Setting it down, he breathed in and slipped into his conscious 'Time to go fight an infection.'

His body dropped like it had been held up by a string and someone had cut it. Mystic bindings sprouted from the floor holding his body down.

He blinked open his eyes, Krang had been waiting for him. Raising a brow Ashi glanced around the very much krangey space "Redecorating I see, shame it's a waste. I'm kicking you out for overdue rent, and your atrocious tastes in interior design."

Krang smirked "oh no, but you couldn't possibly do so, after all, You'll be too busy writhing in the hell you'll be going through."

Scenes starting appearing around them, things Ashi had nightmares about( and sometimes daymares) Krang had a smug look on his face thinking he had won.

Ashi's whole mood had switched when Krang spoke. Something dangerous and not quite sane could be seen in his eyes. His hand covered his face as he shook.

"HA, you turtles fall so ea-" "HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HEH EHEH HAHAHA."

The laugh of a madman cut him off. Ashi was doubled over shaking from laughter. He looked up "Show me Hell? I've already been there. How bout I show you instead."

Then he was on top of the parasite, claws that had appeared on his hands dug into krang's flesh as he leaned closer grinning maniacally "You chose the wrong host." His ninpo filled the space, flooding it.

Ashi's ninpo had always felt...off. Wrong somehow, glitchy but not a fun glitch more of the glitch that corrupted the game and made it unfixable. Black and smokey it could and had hurt him, not that his brothers knew. He wasn't going to let them find out.

He ripped into pink flesh, splattering blood across his face. "Here's some advice, don't try to break what was never whole, it don't work."

Krang screamed as Ashi's ninpo purged him out of his being, destroying every foreign cell, disintegrating the parasite entirely. He stood slightly hunched, arms swaying "Huh, easier than I thought it would be, izzat bad? Or good?"

Then darkness claimed him.

The runes on the bunker flickered and faded away. Raph body slammed the door open, his brothers rushing in after him. The scene that greeted them was not pleasant as was the black energy that filled the room, dispersing as light flooded in. Ashi was laying on the floor, blood pooling from gashes in his shell and plastron, black marks they could only describe as odd burns wrapped around his arms and legs. Leo was next to his fallen brother in a flash, calling up all his medical knowledge. "Hoo-Okay, We need to stabilize his shell and plastron and stop the bleeding, I dunno what to do about those...burns. Raph you're the biggest, Imma need you to carry him. Don, the runes are gone so I should be able to portal now right?" Don nodded, his expression had retreated to nuetral. Using his and Raph's wraps, Leo started binding the shell as best he could. "Mikey. Call Pops...please" "Got it."

After Ashi was declared stable and patched up as best Leo could. The tension keeping everyone 'calm' disintegrated. The stressed out and worn family turtle piled in the medbay as close to Ashi as they could get. No one got very restful sleep. Morning brought about more worries over the black marks and how he had gotten a krang infection in the first place.

"Draxum might know what's going on...I could call him." Mikey offered tentatively. Ashi had disliked the yokai far more than the rest of them, including Leo.

This idea was met with no resistance.

"That would seem appropriate, orange." Splinter finally gave Mikey the go-ahead.

Draxum arrived a few hours after Mikey's call. Evidently four turtles and a rat hovering over his shoulder ruined any chance at properly concentrating on the form in front of him, because he promptly shooed them out of the medbay before he had even started examining.

A short tense time later, Draxum exited the room a tense look on his face. "I may not know the most about ninpo, but something is very wrong with his. All his injuries are caused by it."

"Not...the krang infection? That doesn't make sense..."

"He avoids using his ninpo, but I thought it was cause he said he didn't need it to be awesome..."

"You're telling us that's why? And he never told us?"

"I do not know about that, but luckily the damage is not permanent from what I can tell. He should recover in a few days. Call me if anything is wrong when he wakes."

They nodded and bid Draxum farewell.

Approximately a week passed. Donnie was in the medbay, meticulously checking over his brother's mostly healed injuries; when he noticed his eyes flicker open. Donnie perked up "Ashi! Oh good, how do you feel?"

His brother didn't respond instead staring blankly at the ceiling. "Ashi?" His eyes were dull, lifeless lacking of all his usual mischievous twinkle. Donnie gently tapped his brother's shoulder. No response. None at all. His chest was rising and falling evenly, no problem there. 'So what was wrong?' Nervously fidgeting he pulled out his phone and texted Draxum.

"Something wrong"

"It's his spirit. I believe it has retreated deep inside, fortunately I know a way to retrieve it. Which one of you does he trust the most?"

A moment's thought then everyone pointed at Mikey. The latter looking surprised at this. "Very well, come. I can guide you through but he will not trust me so you must do it."

After drawing complicated runes around Mikey and Ashi, Draxum was explaining what the youngest must do. "You must enter, find his true core self, and bring it back. Only then will he return to normal."

"Gotcha, time to razzmatazz." Mikey quipped attempting to ease his nerves.

Draxum activated the spell and Mikey dived into his bro's conscious.

Mikey blinked and gasped in awe, he was standing on water that stretched on endlessly. Perfectly crystal clear with small sections of mossy rocks poking through the surface. The gentle sound of waves lapping echoed throughout the space. "Ashi. Where are you?" Mikey called out. "Come on bro!"

"Why? You don't need me. I'm better off here."

A voice laced with so much anger and grief came from behind him, he turned to see his brother. "Ashi! What are you talking about? Come home."

Tail lashing, Ashi became darker, eyes flashing. "No."

"Ashi stop joking arou-"

"YOU DON'T NEED ME, NONE OF YOU EVER HAVE. ALL I EVER DO IS WORRY YOU. I'M TO FAR BROKEN TO BE SAVED. STOP TRYING LITTLE BROTHER. JUST LET ME GO. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME. I WAS NEVER WHOLE AND IT'S NOT FIXABLE. GO HOME.....be happy." The water thrashed and black smoke started surrounding them as Ashi screamed out at Mikey; his voiced cracked at the end, raw and full of negative emotions. Mikey stepped forward and pulled his brother into a hug, squeezing him tight. "None of that is true, and you know it. I'm sorry but I need my brother, my real brother. Please."

Leaning into Mikey's hug, the figure sighed all aggression gone. "Very well, just promise to remember that those are real worries and doubts, don't ignore them" at these words the apparition faded away, the water stilled, and light returned.

A quite sniffling could be heard behind a few of the rocks. Mikey rounded them. A smaller and younger version of his brother was crouched there, tears streaming down his face. Mikey crouched down "Hey bro, ready to go home?" "...I'm sorry, I freaked everyone out again didn't I? It's just...so much easier here, I don't have to face.... I just want my family safe."

Mikey pulled him into a hug, marveling at being larger than him. "Ashi. We need you. I need you, I need my brother. I'm not ready to let go. The best way to keep us safe is to tell us things. You are not broken." He squeezed him tighter. "I love you." Ashi hugged him back. "Love you too little bro." He whispered.

Mikey jolted back with a snap. Mildy disoriented he blinked, already missing the beauty he had seen. "Please tell me it worked"

"Ugh, I hate mornings." Ashi muttered sitting up.

He spotted his orange clad brother, seconds before he flung himself into his older brother's arms. Mikey hugged him tight. Ashi let go of his hesitation and gathered his baby brother into his arms, hugging as tight as he could. Sobbing into each other, he looked up to see the rest of his family; he reached out making grabby hands. They rushed in, collapsing to the ground surrounding him, hugging as if they'd never let go. "Never ever ever ever do anything like that again."

"Don't plan on it. Raph I really need you to hug tighter, please."

"I don't wanna hurt you..."

"Please, nothing you do could hurt me, least of all your hugs."

After everyone had calmed down, Ashi got the biggest lecture in his life, from each of his family in turn.

Ashi glared at Draxum, discomfort written all over his face as he forced out "Thank. You."

Draxum nodded knowing that was the best he was going to get from the young turtle. "I'm glad you have recovered. But I do suggest figuring out what is going on with your ninpo, it should not hurt you like that."

He hurrumphed waving his hand in dismissal, "Yeah yeah, is fine. Good bye." He pushed the yokai out the entrance, glad to be rid of him.

"ASHI! GET BACK IN THAT BED. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RESTING YOUNG MAN!"

"Abso-flipping-bally-lutely not! You're gonna have to put me back in a coma! I refuse!"

Oh boy, I finished this in two days. Context? Essentially none. Makes Sense? Nada. Tons of artistic liberty and up to interpretation? Oh yes. Will I elaborate and give more context? Only if you ask.(probs not otherwise)

What I do want you to know is solid info

-Ashi is a fifth brother in the rise vers

-He would do anything to protect his family

-his favorite flower is a red spider lily

I had a little thought and this formed from it, I'm pretty sure the thought was 'instead of the krang giving you trauma let's give them it instead, cause you've got plenty' and here we are. If it seems choppy, it is. I did quite a bit of skipping around. I don't expect this to get noticed or even read, but I wrote it and want to share it.
