Knuckles Show Thoughts

This is just an overview but here we go. Spoilers ahead.

Parts were a fun experience. I cringed so much during this show though

Really liked all the ex-GUN bad guys 😈

Genuinely enjoyed the first two episodes for the most part—particularly the evil humans trying to get Knuckles, and Knuckles' interactions with the other Wachowskis.

We didn't get enough of the Wachowskis 🥲🥲🥲

Pachacamac—WHAT THE HECK. I mean it was funny in principle, but also so weird??? I didn't know how to feel about that. I'm just gonna say that Knuckles was meditating and that's what he experienced, and Wade's vision was a fever dream. Wades bowling alley vision was so cringe.

I loved Wade's mission-impossible vision of himself that was hilarious and awesome 😂 Honestly that whole episode was just fun and cool.

KNUCKLES GLIDING WAS COOL

The writing quality REALLY dropped in the third and fourth episodes. They felt like filler and much more amateur in terms of acting direction and pacing. It felt like the human actors were asked to improv, but they were given way too little direction within which to improv, and then their stuff wasn't cut or edited through enough afterwards. The pacing was very off as a result, especially in the third one.

Genuinely hated Wade's sister for the entirety of the 3rd episode. However, I think a lot of her character's despicableness was again a symptom of too much improv and not enough thinking through her character's behavior in advance by the writers.

I totally thought Wade's sister was gonna end up having lied about her position in the FBI, or was gonna end up being a janitor there or something, because she wanted to impress her family and suffers from the same self-doubt Wade does. I think that actually would have been way cooler for her character growth.

The one part I truly loved in the 3rd episode was the Jewish folk music during the epic fight around the candles! :D That was by far the best part of the episode.

Wade's mom really grew on me by the end. I like her a lot.

Overall I enjoyed the last two episodes. THE BAD GUY LORE WAS SO INTERESTING. It was really cool worldbuilding! I wish we could have gotten more of that. The bad guys talking to each other about their motivations relating to GUN was one of the neatest parts of the series and it lasted for about 5 minutes.

I really liked hating Wade's dad (as I was supposed to). I was very suspicious of him from the beginning and honestly did not want him to have a redemption arc, and I was not disappointed. Westley my beloved he was fantastic.

LOVED how Knuckles secretly knew about the bad guys' plan to have Wade betray him through using Wade having him use his earpods that was so genius and made me happy

The rings becoming an endless loop void thing was cool.

Knuckles' fire abilities were not nearly as cool to me as they probably were supposed to be. I get they were a reference, but it changes things a lot in this universe lore-wise and I'm not sure I like that.

The ending was kinda cool, but it felt very rushed. Wish we could have seen that cool battle mec for longer, and that guy could have been a direct opponent for longer. And Knuckles passing out was angsty and dramatic! But it felt like that moment deserved a lot more time.

KNUCKLES' ARC WAS NOT FINISHED. Whyyyyyy did we not get a scene at the end where Maddie, Sonic, and Tails are frantically looking for Knuckles and they're super worried about him?? Knuckles should have come back to them all freaking out that they can't find him anywhere and it's been like THREE DAYS, and he goes up to Maddie and humbly explains to her where he's been (helping Wade) and that he's sorry he's left, but that he realized that he had somewhere to return to. That he has a home. That the Wachowskis are his new home. And he is sorry; he will go back to being grounded. And there should have been a sweet sibling moment and momma moment between them all where they hug or something ahhhh. Again, WHY did we not get this??? I must write a scene to fix it.

More about the previous point because I'm not done. In the first Sonic film, the climax of Sonic's arc was when Tom said "he was my friend", but the actual completion of that arc was when Tom and Maddie invited him to live with them and be their kid. With Knuckles, we only got the climax of his arc (Wade saying he had a home) and not the conclusion (returning to his family and home). We were cheated!

Knuckle series is out!! Any thoughts? Does it affect your Jojo and Gang au?

Spoilers for the Knuckles series people! Avert your eyes children!

First, let's talk about the things I liked:

- Sonic and Tails were great for as little screen time as they had. And Maddie trying to be patient with Knuckles while also not strangling him was great, haha. As someone who worked at a Daycare, I related to her dealing with kids like Knuckles and Maddie's facial expressions when she was grounding Knuckles were on point. Also THEY HAVE A PLAIN BED FOR TAILS AND A TRUCK BED FOR KNUCKLES AHHHHH!!!!!

-Pachacamac is a Jedi Force ghost? Alright then. I don't know much about this character outside of Sonic X but I thought that he was fine. And Christopher Lloyd does a great job as usual.

-Wade was not terrible. I like how he has some character growth through the series and at the end he isn't a master warrior/fighter. He's still a goofball but now he's thinking things through and using what he has and his current surroundings to his advantage in a fight, and isn't just hiding and waiting for Knuckles to save him. But him breaking out of the cage in episode 4 was a bit ridiculous. What was that cage made of, cardboard? He really should have broken his hand or something.

-I liked the villains but I wish that we got to see them more involved in the story, especially the buyer. Who was menacing for about five minutes and then was crushed to death like, dang 0-0

-NANA WHIPPLE AND KNUCKLES SPINOFF SHOW PLEASE!!

-Knuckles was the best part of the show. He's the strong tough warrior but with a big heart and good intentions, though a bit misguided at times. Idris did a great job, nothing new there.

And now let's get into the things I didn't like:

-The show is %70 Wade bowling story and %30 Knuckles adjusting to earth and his backstory with Pachacamac and his tribe and his connection to the master emerald and everything else that the show should have been about. The Wade sub plot takes up so much time that we don't get to explore Knuckles. I wished that we had gotten to see him learn to appreciate and call Earth his new home instead of him just accepting it at the end. It just felt so rushed.

-Episode four wasn't awful but I didn't care for it. Also you can NOT show us the Flames of Disaster from '06 and not have Silver or Blaze show up. You can't do that >:(

-Knuckles and Maddie didn't get to have a heart to heart conversation which is what I and many others thought that was what the show was building up to. Also he never gets in trouble for running way and we never cut back to seeing Maddie or Sonic and Tails realizing Knuckles is gone, or even Sonic and Tails trying to cover for Knuckles. I get that the CGI was expensive and voice actor and actor schedules might not have worked out for it to happen, but my point still stands.

-Wanda was useless and you could have cut her out and lost nothing. Don't get me wrong, the actress is good but she feels wasted here. Her character is so annoying and serves no purpose other than to be mean to Wade. And why do we have to have the "siblings who hate each other but make up at the end" cliche? I would have liked Wanda more if she was nicer to Wade from the start and if they had a fun sibling bond with each other. Also if she was able to actually use her skills as an FBI agent to at least hold her own against the gang when they attack Nanna Whipple's house. Also the dad needed to be more comedically villainous, he was too generic.

-Like I said the villains here are fine but the Buyer's whole character is to just show up, have a cool robot fight, and die. We don't get to see him be a threat to Knuckles at all, he just appears for the climax and then is offed in a snap. And the two agents were fun but a lot of their dialogue was graining.

-And that leads me to the main problem with the series. The writing. I'm aware that the writers for the main movies didn't work much on this series, except Jeff did do the first episode. Which is why it's the best one. There is no balance between the jokes and the emotional moments. The show is so focused on trying to make you laugh every five minutes that it sacrifices genuine emotional growth for the characters especially for Knuckles. You know, the whole reason for the show existing in the first place. It suffers the same problems that the live action Ton and Jerry movie had, where the main stars weren't allowed to be the main stars of their film. All of the screen time there went to the human characters who weren't interesting or just plain annoying and mean.

And the dialogue for the show teeters back and forth between actually funny/well written and being dangerously close to obnoxious. And kids shows having jokes all the time isn't a problem. Rottmnt and the Lego Movies are both kid properties that fire off a joke every minute but they knew when to cut back and let the emotional moments shine. The jokes in the Knuckles show felt more like they were pandering to four year old's then actually trying to be funny and the emotional moments felt kind of forced.

I don't want to give any of the writers or anyone who worked on this show a hard time. I can see that everyone worked hard and had fun with this. And I had fun too. There were some good moments between Knuckles and Wade and even a few jokes that got me. But the problems I listed above are just to hard for me to ignore. If you liked the Knuckles series then great for you! I'm happy you were able to have a great time! But for me it was just ok.

Not great. But not bad either. 5/10.

Now, about this affecting Jojo and Gang. I think what I'll do is have comic take place a month after the Knuckles series. And use my AU to focus on Knuckles getting accustomed to Earth and learning to call it home. Basically my AU will do what the Knuckles series didn't.

at this point my interest in the knuckles series has dropped a lot and im more nervous than excited but yes ive seen the list of episode titles thats going around and yes i did shit myself when i noticed the sonic 06 reference

#i doubt it really means anything thouhg its probably just a fun little easter egg for game fans #because . yeah knuckles is in sonic 06 but knuckles isnt really a character you think of when you think of stuff from sonic 06 is he #so i cant really see them doing 06 stuff with him #plus with tv shows there are often cases of episode titles making it seem like theyre gonna be about one thing #but its actually about something else #but its still like. the phrase ''flames of disaster'' has CONNOTATIONS man you cant just SAY that #knuckles series spoilers #???

he came in late to your apartment, half expecting you to be asleep when he pushes open the bedroom door.

you aren’t, instead watching tv and practically jump out of your skin at the sudden intrusion.

“hey, i was waiting for you to come in.” you hum out, pausing your show in favor of greeting him.

mikey says nothing, eyes unfocused as he stands in the doorway. the hallway light behind him leaves him basked in a halo, and has you squinting to focus on him.

“you okay?” you find yourself asking, pushing back the covers to meet him at the door.

he still doesn’t answer, dark hair casting shadows over his face. mikey doesn’t move to acknowledge your presence in front of him, doesn’t even flinch when you cup his face gently to try and get him to actually look at you.

“mikey.” you whisper, hoping to get an answer.

your touch is soft, well practiced as you ease him over to the bed and gently push him to sit by his shoulders. still, the vacant look remains in his eyes, but you don’t let it stop you from coddling him.

“you can talk to me about anything,” you say softly, as if speaking any other way could break him. he lets you peel his shirt off, soiled with dirt and what you can only hope isn’t his blood. his busted knuckles make it hard to say.

“‘m fucked up.” he manages out, fingers twitching when you run a hand through his hair.

“it’s okay,” you offer, pulling him so his head rests against your chest. his eyes flutter closed, almost relaxing in the touch when you begin to rub circles into his shoulder, “we don’t have to talk about it. just wanna make sure you’re okay.”

“i didn’t . . . i don’t . . . “ he exhales sharply, squeezing his eyes shut and forcing himself to suck in a breath. “‘m sorry.”

you press a kiss to the top of his head, inhaling softly and humming.

“should go shower, yeah? smell like smoke.”

another kiss to his forehead has him forcing a nod, standing stiffly and letting you guide him to the bathroom.

and he falls asleep shortly after you’ve pulled him from the bath, after you’ve scrubbed his skin clean of soot and dirt and blood and whatever other grime stained him. with you holding him close, pressing kiss after kiss to his hair while whispering how it’s going to be okay.

he tries his best to believe you.

a few days pass before he returns in the same state, the same level of disarray.

with blood staining his hands, his clothes, his face.

you’re worried for him, really, stumbling up from the couch to pull him inside quicker than he’s already walking. he lets you poke and prod at him to examine him for any wounds, and doesn’t once voice the fact that any he could have aren’t fatal.

draken could never get a hit on him, anyways.

you’re whispering to yourself, and he wonders if you know it. if you know your fretting pains him in a way he can’t explain because he doesn’t deserve it.

but still, he lets you bring him to the tub, lets you shed him of his clothes, lets you ease him into the shower and lets you push back his hair to gently clean his face with a rag. you scrub and you scrub and you scrub, until his skin is almost raw from how thorough you’re being. not once does he mention how it hurts, how you’re going over one place too many times and it stings so fucking bad, because he knows he deserves the pain.

he grits his teeth and takes everything you offer, until he’s what you deem clean enough. you pull him from the tub and towel him dry, too, and mikey knows he doesn’t deserve the way you’re gently holding on to him, the way you double check you’ve gotten everything, the way you cup his face and softly ask him if he’s okay, if there’s anything you can do to help.

he can only shake his head, pull on a pair of boxers, and let you drag him to bed where you hold him so sweetly, pressing your lips to cheeks and his nose and his forehead.

“we don’t have to talk about it,” you assure him, and he closes his eyes when your breath brushes against the shell of his ear, “just want you to be okay. it’ll be okay.”

he really wants to believe you.

chifuyu was somehow harder than draken to talk to.

no, not somehow. he knows how. knows it’s the mention of takemitchy that really gets him. knows it fights its way under his skin and burrows deep under his bones, into his veins, until the first shot is ringing out loud in his ears. then the second. then the third. maybe a fourth. he doesn’t remember.

and knows he is going to be dragged to hell without a fight because of what he’s doing.

he doesn’t come to your door for weeks after that.

and it isn’t fair to you, you decide, when he ghosts you for so long, but any anger dissipates the second he’s walking into your apartment. like a kicked puppy, not looking at you as he slowly makes his way towards you. he eases his way down onto the couch, sitting on the opposite side to you with his head in his hands, and even in the dark you can make out the deep scratches marring the back of his hand, trailing up his arms.

“mikey . . .” you start, hesitant and soft as you reach out for him. he jerks away before you can touch him, and it pulls a small gasp from your lips, an even smaller frown forming, “manjiro.” you say again, turning your body to fully face him, “you have to talk to me. you can’t keep doing this, going on like this.”

again, you reach for him, and he grabs your wrist before you can touch him.

“. . .”

he says nothing, tightening his grip when you try to pull yourself from his grasp.

“mikey, you’re hurting me.”

he finally looks at you at that, at the way tears well in your eyes, stares at you in a way that has you swallowing hard and continue trying to tug your wrist from his hand and despite being one of the most feared men in tokyo, manjiro sano has never once scared you until now.

mikey lets go and you yank your hand to yourself, cradling your arm as if preparing for him to make another grab, but he never does. the two of you stare at each other, neither daring to break the tension that hangs in the air.

and then he stands, looks at his hands, balls them into fists, digs his nails into his palm and closes his eyes while inhaling, as if he’s trying to ground himself.

“‘m sorry.” he says finally, opening his eyes to look at you.

“what’s been up with you?” you frown, and he mimics it from the way your voice shakes.

“just got some stuff on my mind. you coming to bed?”

he doesn’t wait for you to answer, leaving you on the couch as he sheds himself of his shirt and tosses it somewhere in your room, starting the shower himself, scrubbing his skin raw on his own.

you’re waiting for him on the bed when he comes out, a first-aid kit at your side with your knees pulled to your chest. he sits beside you unprompted, offering his hands as you open the kit.

and you treat the wounds as if nothing happened twenty minutes prior, nimble fingers trembling slightly as they gently dry and disinfect and wrap his own, all the way down into his elbow.

he cups your face when you’re finished, frowning at the way you almost flinch back, at the way your jaw clenches under his fingertips.

“it’ll be okay.” he whispers, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your forehead, and despite the initial hesitation you held seconds before, you lean into his touch and let your eyes flutter closed, “it’ll all be ok.”

he doesn’t believe it himself, the words sour as they leave his tongue, but you nod in his grasp, and it’s all he can do to hope it’s enough.

Has Dabi ever killed a woman or child? In his broadcast he says he's killed over 30 innocent "people" but doesn't clarify any further. If he wanted more shock value he could have said something like "I've killed over 30 innocent people including a mother and her 3 children." Also in the alleyway scene where we see him burn 4 people alive they were all men. In the forest raid arc he goes after Aizawa and purposely avoids killing Aoyama who he knew was hiding. The hero Snatch he kills was also a man. He attempts to kill Hawks who is a man, but doesn't immediately try to kill Tokoyami when he intervenes. And yes, I know he's tried to kill Todoroki, but thats because of a personal reason. I feel like this speaks volumes to the type of person Dabi is. He doesn't kill indiscriminately or for the pure joy of it. He isn't like Shigaraki who will and has killed hoards of people regardless of age or gender.

It’s time for some Dabi analysis~

Firstly, we’ve only seen Dabi killing people when he was looking for new members, he’s killed thugs who he didn’t see fit for the LOV or fit for the society in general, lowlife villains who didn’t have a purpose and were overall just trash.

When Dabi came back to the hideout we see him saying “Am I the only one who’s looking to get us new members?”

And Twice says “You’re going around burning people to death!”

And Dabi replies “Not my fault nobody’s worthy”

Which results into me thinking that Dabi has actually killed plenty of thugs/ lowlife villains that he didn’t see fit for the gang, that’s all. I can see Dabi coming up to them, they either shoo him away and start acting tough, or after some talk Dabi sees that these people are not worthy, so he incinerates them all.

And also let’s not forget Dabi has burned plenty of people when they we’re fighting against the Liberation army in Deika city, after all they were attacking the LOV so Dabi had to fight too. I’m sure that’s where the body count reached higher.

We know Dabi participated in the summer camp attack against the students who were in fact still minors, but yet again, it’s clear that Dabi wants to kill all heroes out there, to him the society is full of fake heroes. After all the UA students aren’t little children anymore, they’re one step closer to becoming real heroes. I don’t see them being an exception to Dabi, he will still kill them if they get on his way.

Aoyama’s case was a bit different because SPOILERS: Aoyama was a traitor, a spy for AFO , and he told the LOV where the summer camp is, and Dabi knew that.

Also in Tokoyami’s case we don’t see Dabi instantly attacking him when he comes to save Hawks. We see Dabi in fact lecturing Tokoyami, trying to open his eyes about heroes, Dabi also says “they even got UA kids involved?” or something like that. He is kinda stunned that pro heroes had to involve students in a real war, meaning Dabi has to fight against them as well now. Because I don’t actually see Dabi priding himself at killing students.. he wants to go for the real deal, pro heroes.

I think at some point Dabi knows all UA students and many kids out there are some naive brats who blindly believe in heroes, because thats the society they grew up with. Dabi doesn’t hesitate to show them the truth, tell them how things really are.

But when Tokoyami still refused, Dabi then decided to finally attack, having no other choice.

So yeah from all of this I agree, Dabi doesn’t just kill people for the joy of it, I’m sure as hell Dabi has never killed small children or women, or a mother with her children, families etc. His killings have been focused on heroes, lowlife villains or random thugs in shady alleyways.

And even then, we see Dabi overthinking, the death of these people still haunting his mind and driving him insane…

Ordinary citizens haven’t been Dabi’s focus to actually kill. He didn’t do the TV Broadcast for no reason, because he could easily kill all of them. But no, he wants to use other ways, to convince them instead, open their eyes and show them how hero society really is.

You know what the knuckles show SHOULD have been??

A slice of life series that took place entirely in Greenhills that focused on Knuckles, Sonic, Tails, and Maddie and their growing family relationship as they try to understand one another and love one another. Wade maybe could have been there, but only because he’s training with Knuckles to be a better deputy and nothing else. He’s not the star, the WACHOWSKIS are the star. As they always should be.
