You know what? I'm torn.

See, I don't mind Edgeworth being there for Case 5-5 due to the parallels he has with Athena. If they bothered to explore them. You have two characters who once thought they murdered their parental figures and have been haunted by that guilt for years. It makes enough sense for him to be emotionally invested in what is essentially DL-6 but bloodier.

I also would also have liked to see Klavier there though, on what is essentially the last trial in the Dark Age of the Law. He is the one who (unknowingly) kickstarted it with Phoenix's last trial after all. Plus it would be neat to see him react to Apollo's emo arc and copying his shithead brother.

Hell, might've been a nice payoff for having him make the cameo in Turnabout Academy. The dude is bigger than Edgeworth and FULBRIGHT on the poster, for Pete's sake! Why is he not there?

Dual destinies is incredible bc it's so full but so empty. It has four main characters who all go through some sort of character arc but none of those arcs feel impactful or important. It has six cases but one is dlc and two of them are actually the same case. Two of the ostensibly most important relationships in the game are between Athena and Blackquill/Juniper but Blackquill doesn't get to have his big moment with Athena bc Apollo needs to have his big moment, and much more focus is put on junipers relationship with her other friends than with Athena. Another one of the most important relationships is between Apollo and Clay but we only get one flashback of them meeting and Apollo standing around... sadly. The core tension of the game is about "the dark age of the law" but it's represented mostly by characters talking about how bad it is and one cartoonishly evil teacher who's very easy to defeat. There's plenty of appearances by fan favorite characters-Pearls, Edgeworth, Klavier, Trucy-but none of them are actually important to the story except Edgeworth and really their cameos were more frustrating than anything. There's a lot going on in the game but very little of it is memorable or impactful in any way and it's been left up to the fans to find meaning and excitement in it themselves

LOS ANGELES -- July 26, 2029 by Reese Porter

As Klavier Gavin entered the courtroom as defendant in this week's talk-of-the-town trial, the question on everybody's minds was: who will be defending him? Potential names floated around in the past day included that of famed attorney Phoenix Wright, whose disbarrment after facing Gavin in 2024 is the stuff of legend; newbie lawyer Athena Cykes, or the somewhat elusive Raymond Shields. But standing at the defense bench this morning was none other than Apollo Justice, Gavin's longtime courtroom opponent and former member of the victim Kristoph Gavin's law office.

Justice's last known whereabouts were in a small country known as Khura'in, where he is said to have set up his own law firm in order to aid with the restructuring of the country's legal system. It seems unlikely that he would have been able to travel all the way across the globe in time to defend Gavin, but stranger things have happened in the name of the law. (Anyone remember Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth's cameo as a defense attorney? Just me?) Either way, Gavin and Justice have likely had little to no contact before their appearance together in court today.

The trial of Klavier Gavin, who is accused of the murder of Kristoph Gavin, is ongoing. Scooperstars Daily will provide updates with new information as they happen.

21. Did you ever read fanfictions? Which one is your personal recommendation?

Sorry it took so long! It took me a while to get everything in order, but here it is.

So fun fact: Whenever I read a fic I love I book mark it with the note j'adore so I can read it again later. Some of them get this note preemptively. I also tend to go through a tag on ao3 in date posted ascending order so I start with the oldest and work my way forward so I don't potentially miss anything, but I haven't made it all the way through some tags that I would like to. If there's a fic you think I would like that's not on here, I probably just haven't gotten to it yet! (Most of the newer ones on here I found through Tumblr.)

Also! I'm pretty sure any of the ones that involve smut I have marked as such, but please check the tags on the actual fic before reading! I am not responsible for what content you choose to consume!

That being said, here is Ace's All Time Best Fic Rec List (AATBFRL for short):

Nobody Can Just Say What They Mean (Series)- The first fic is Narumitsu and the second is Klapollo and I think about them allllll the time, especially Things Are As They Are altered me on a microscopic level. Rocks are just rocks, you know? (Narumitsu, Klapollo)

undeniable you (the currents pulling me onward)- Idk what to say. Kristoph Gavin dies in prison and Klavier is suspect #1. Apollo flies back to defend him and yaoi happens. I'm a sucker for Klav getting all scrungled up.

fame vs infamy (the price of writing fanfic out of spite)- It's a crack fic. It's funny. 10/10 would recommend. (Klapollo)

The Definition Of Home- And there was only one bed?!?!?!?!?! What?!?!?!?! And there was a little angst in the bed?!?!?!?!?! Unbelievable. Actually the angst was on the couch, the bed made it better. (Klapollo)

13 Hours- This fic keeps popping up in my fever dreams. I'm not even kidding. I didn't have it bookmarked the first time around but when I found it again, I was like 'oh, I know this one! It haunts my dreams!' and immediately slapped a j'adore on it. Airport Klapollo getting together.

Dig Enough Graves- This one is still being put out, it's a Klapollo roleswap and I love it. I get so excited when I see it's updated. So many things are happening and we have clues and I'm gonna figure it out, ok? *boston accent* I'm sleuthin 'ere! (rated M for violence and sex reasons)

stop the presses (series)- V funny. Apollo works as a columnist and writes thirst essays about KlavGav and gets a date out of it. I am very impressed with the coding used to make this look the way it does.

And if my wishes could all come true- I have reread this one a couple times. I think about it a lot. It is genuinely so funny and makes me feel all sorts of things. I love pre-relationship klapollo divorce complete with alimony while they were not not dating but actually not dating, Apollo you can't just assume that.

Nothing Like This Feeling- Apollo top suregery fic with a dash of Klapollo!

Turnabout Dishwasher- For when you get the hankering for a 422.6k work of art. It's like three fics in one that happen concurrently, which doesn't sound like a description that makes sense unless you read it. There are so many characters here, and shipping is part of it but it's also a whole lot of everything else. These characters are actually living and you get to take a look see. (klapollo, blackmadhi, wrightworth, look just read the tags on the fic there's so much going on)

Such Terrible Tales- A gorgeous magic filled AU with a focus on the casts of aa5 and aa6 and fun cameos from Investigations (so far). This fic is still on going and I would def recommend reading it as it comes out! I love trying to figure out the lore and what will happen next! This fic kind of pulls me off my hinges lol. You Wear Stripes, Too?- Apollo and Klav come out to each other as trans and nb respectively.

Things Best Shared- Klav teaches Apollo guitar.

For A Bad Time Call Simon Blackquill- Iconic blackmadhi fic. I think about it all the time. V funny fake dating au with bits of angst.

Last Resort- And they were roommates! Blackmadhi roommates with lots of healing and shenanigans.

Dating for a Turnabout- Narumitsu fake dating for a case. Larry is there doing Larry things. Franziska did it to them bc she is very smart and cool.

Vacation All I Ever Wanted- I think about this sooooooo much. Tagline: One condo. Six lawyers. Seven secret plans. What could possibly go wrong? (klapollo, narumitsu, athena blackquill and trucy are there)

Alternative Dispute Resolution- Apollo makes Klavier talk to Mr. Wright before they can start dating. It's awkward (and funny) and Trucy is a delight.

Turn(about) my words- The fic where I realized I instinctively start laughing when someone gets shot. He's fine. uhhh narumitsu, phoenix got shot of course bc why wouldn't he and found family stuff.

You're Alive (And that's the only thing that truly matters.)- Klavier gets poisoned and Edgeworth tells the nurses Apollo is his partner so he can get in to see him. Turns out I don't laugh at poisonings, only shootings.

Dog Days- Apollo and Trucy go to another Gavinners concert and Polly misinterprets everything all the time.

Reckless Endangerment- One of the funniest klapollo get togethers. Pollo insults him real good while he's standing behind him, klav thinks about going abroad to study, phoenix has prosecutor going abroad ptsd, apollo might actually be into the gavinners, or at least the titular member.

Good Advice- Klavier Gavin makes categorically bad decisions in the face of love. (klapollo)

Hot For Justice- klavgav gets a muse, guess who?

Rules for Dating a Rockstar Prosecutor- klapollo first date that literally everyone is more invested in than Apollo (until he actually goes).

The Things We Do For Gym Access- Fake dating so Apollo can use the gym at Klav's place until the one he normally goes to gets fixed. Except they're actually really into each other and it's killing me everyday it's killing me I'm dead I'm dying they're so dense and in love and can't figure out why they haven't been caught and it's bc they actually feel like that and on top of pretend dating are pretending to date each other to themselves just kiss istg. Rated Explicit for sexual reasons.

The Walk to Tomorrow- Narumitsu doing Narumitsu things.

Legal Partners- Oooooooo this one! I also think about this one a lot. Narumitsu and klapollo and everyone is idiots they're all idiots. Klav and Edgeworth make a stupid, stupid bet about who has the more meaningful connection with their preferred defense attorney. I love this type of fic.

Turnabout Rubesville- Edgeworth gets accused of murder in a small town bc he's a grump. Phoenix sorts it out.

You Ever Been In Love?- Everyone gets way too involved in making Wrightworth happen, and it goes horribly until it goes right.

Gravity- Rated Explicit for sex reasons. Tbh I really like the oc. She's real cool. def read the tags for trigger warnings. (klapollo)

The soul truth (and nothing but the truth)- Franmaya! There's some spirit medium shenanigans and Lang is a bro.

satisfaction brought him back- Justquill Simon gets turned into a cat. I love fics where someone gets turned into a cat. There aren't a lot but it is a trope I enjoy. I've def read this one a couple times.

Stripped- Klapollo impending. Apollo is also secretly a stripper. Idk if this fic will ever get finished but I liked everything in it.

Curiosity Created the Cat- Klapollo impending. Also not finished and maybe never will be and only 3 chapters but in this one Klav gets turned into a cat. I'm sorry.

if it's really me you seek- Klapollo. I'm just going to post the official summary bc I j'ador'ed it but I don't remember exactly which one this is: Or, when Apollo comes home from Khura'in only to learn that Prosecutor Gavin is avoiding him, the last thing he expected was for Gavin to offer to let Apollo stay at his house while he looks for a new apartment.

I enjoy thinking about the fact there is an official recording of Klavier Gavin telling the world “If you wish to ask where my love is going? Just ask the wind, or Herr Forehead, of course!”

In the lyric recording of Guilty Love, by the Gavinners, that is RELEASED AS A SINGLE, there is a line sung that directly mentions Apollo.

Apollo even cameos.

The internet must have combusted, I mean, this is just such material for a fandom. “WHO IS THIS HERR FOREHEAD?! OH MY GOD A ROMANCE?!” and the ENTIRE time Apollo is sitting there, looking at Klavier, who looks SO smug.

I see the memes about the AJ trilogy port not being a real trilogy can you explain? Are the three games not related to each other at all?

I mean if you've played the games you can clearly see that they werent meant to be perceved as a trilogy, but rather as standalone stories (or else they would have been advertised like that from the beginning just like the og trilogy)

Instead of giving Apollo random ass backstories and traumas every other game, they would actually try to dig deeper to characters like, lets say ..THE GAVIN BROTHERS?? They didnt tie them into the next game whatsoever, instead of like Klavier's cameo who was more soulless than a cardboard cutout.

and also the Mason System was never mentioned again, which one would think that it would be a very nice solution to this Dark Age of the Law thing.

Sebastian is the same age as Kay

Kay is like two years younger than Maya, who is the same age as Franziska

Apollo is 24 in SOJ, and Maya is 28

Klavier is 2 years older than Apollo, meaning he's two years younger than Maya too

But both became prosecutors at 17, and not too far apart if we follow the timeline, Phoenix's cameos and The gavinners cameo in AAI1

like apollo, you are bound to be given a nickname klavier has made up for you, he'll mostly use it during trials, but that's not to say he won't use it outside of trials.

definitely calls you a "silly boy" when you make a blunder in court. he will not let it die down even after the trial, he is a certified teaser.

your visits in his office always turn to asking him for information regarding the case you're both working on, to bonding with each other because you don't spend time with each other a lot because of the nature of you're jobs.

polly & trucy occasionally visits his office too, just to see how he's doing and all. the very first thing they see when they open the door is klavier, he's leaning against the door frame as if he knew he'd be having visitors, how is that?

klavier's happily having a conversation with apollo, mentioning his forehead without fail. as for trucy... the girl cannot stand still even if her life is in the line, she's eagerly listening to their conversation, but she is itching to take a look at klavier's beautiful set up of an office, his multiple tv's mostly piquing her interest.

when she successfully sneak out of the men's conversation and their peripheral vision just behind them, trucy is greeted with the sight of a slumped man napping in a table.

trucy audibly gasps, gaining the attention of the men right behind her. klavier expresses a shocked look in his eyes, but swiftly displays his signature smile.

"klavier! who's this?", trucy whisper shouted.

klavier approached the young magician, kneeling to reach her height, "that is my liebling, a beaut, isn't he?"

trucy is quick to clap her hands and aggressively nod "mhm!"

with the prosecutor being glad with her answer, he flashes her a smile with his eyes tightly closed.

apollo on the other hand is mimicking your slouched figure, adding an agape mouth to his facial features.

it is a fact that klavier is a star, the screams of fans whenever he is in their line of sight, the eyes of attendants always in his glamorous form, he has it all.

klavier presents himself a man who is constantly getting the attention of fawning women, but... for him to be a man was a surprise for apollo. i guess it just goes to show that klavier can get anyone he wants.

100% gives you ticket discounts. tell you what? he gives you tickets for free. and to top it off, he always makes sure you're in the vip seat, the closest to where the stage is so he can easily see you from up there.

has at least made a song (or even an album) about you, stonks might i say.

ok last post for now. IN LIGHT OF CAPCOM SAYING A FEW NEW GAMES WOULD BE OUT BY MARCH 2023. these are my top 10 IDEAL ace attorney games ranked in no particular order by how bad i want them to be real. this will be a long post so it's under the cut. spoiler for basically every ace attorney game

Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney (Investigations). Simon gets to be her weird little girl and they make funny banter about random people in that way you can only have with a bruncle/neister bff relationship. This game is ideal because it's like a kind cat owner who has a very mean cat that they keep promising won't bite you but the cat has not only already bitten you but also summoned a fully grown hawk to attack you. Simply fantastic game material. This is also ideal because Athena would get to be the head of her own game for once.

Ema Skye: Ace Detective (Investigations). In addition to the last post, I am so incredibly fond of the original idea for the investigations series to be about Ema. Let Ema have Kay as an assistant, or maybe Klavier. Lana gets to cameo and take on the Beanix in AA4 role where she shows up to give some cryptic advice and then disappears.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 2. I cannot get enough of this game. Please give me more. I love it so uncontrollably much. 10/10 best game of the century. Please give Apollo an actually coherent arc involving what happened with Kristoph and the setup involving the black psyche locks instead of a game that was Still Just About Phoenix All Along, Actually. Apollo Justice is such an incredible setup for a second trilogy that just... fails to deliver. Please follow through with these ideas. The no-spoiler rule has been the WORST thing to happen to the Ace Attorney franchise. Phoenix is an afterthought in this game.

Sholmes and Mikotoba: Reminiscence. I really want a game just about their escapades. I have not even played DGS yet I am so fascinated with these two and their history. It doesn't even have to be a full game, just like a DLC case or two. If this already exists please let me know but don't spoil me as I'll be liveblogging my playthrough of DGS and DGS2 I believe.

Sebastian Gets His Own Thing Because I Like Him: The Game. Speaks for itself. I really really like Sebastian.

The Prosecutors Office: The Game. I am desperate to see everybody interacting in one confined space while the Paynes stand there silently, unnoticed. Ideally, this will be in the art style of Investigations with overworld pixel sprites. It will be fully comedic. I can only survive off of fanfiction for so long.

Mia Fey: Ace Attorney. Here's the unsurprising entry. I would like to see more of Mia and Diego's relationship and would really like to see Feenie co-counsel. I think Lana should be the prosecutor because Mia has two hands and she is a bisexual girlboss. Lanamiego trueness. Lana and Diego do not get along but in the funny way.

Jailbreak. I really want a small story (fits better as dlc, probably) about the main villains in prison. I do understand that this is unrealistic and entirely inspired by fanart I've seen, but look me in the eyes and tell me it has absolutely no comedic potential. Exactly. It'd be hilarious. Kristoph and Matt Engarde would NOT get along and I live to see the day they inevitably strangle each other while Dahlia laughs from the corner, timeline be damned. Ft. Simon cameo where he looks wildly unimpressed by everything happening around him.

Trucy Wright: Magician for Hire. I love the idea of Phoenix being wildly supportive of his daughter's dreams, and I also really want Trucy to be able to express how she actually feels about the Gramaryes. She deserves better than the treatment the games give her. I think that she, Kay, and Ema should get to be the second-coming of the Yatagarasu.

Franziska von Karma: INTERPOL. I really want a game about Franziska, Lang, Interpol, and most importantly, please give us a Colias cameo. You don't understand. Colias Palaeno showed up for one case in one game and I somehow found him the funniest little man ever. I want a Colias cameo. Franziska also deserves to be able to lead her own game, as she has been trapped in Capcom's basement for too long. Lang is her weird little girl. Third DeLites cameo! I love the DeLites.
