Nomination Review: Klaus from Spy Classroom

Confirmed in episode 11 as aromantic. He states that he's never felt romantic attraction towards anyone, but still feels familial love. Klaus also doesn't think of sex much and attempts to flirt with him are often missed/ignored.

Verdict: Denied/Pending further evidence

I looked up the character and on the character wiki it specified that there are attempts to "seduce" him sexually that he ignores & that other characters are shown experiencing sexual attraction frequently whereas he is not. That said, in this screenshot it's only specifically aromantic here so I’m reviewing it further.

Edit: Upon further review all wording used in the light novels and anime I could find references romantic attraction specifically. In this case I would have to say he is only canonically aromantic. If there is further evidence inside the show/light novels or said by a creator showing he is aroace I will update the nominations accordingly but otherwise I am not including him as the wording is specific in this manner.

Who’s Barth?

  Captain Welter Barth is the Captain of the Military Intelligence Department. With origin and citizenship of Din he is a man loyal to his nation.He’s 24 years old, and with a body rigorously trained reaching strength,he takes his job as a captain seriously and scoffs directly anyone who disregards the power level of Din’s military.

In fact he senses that any spy team,with Lamplight particularly,gets to much praise for their work -while the soldiers and military officers risk their lifes on the war front.He’s a man of action,also an understanding* one who uses his rhetoric skills to boost the spirits of fellow soldiers.

He and Klaus have known each other a long ago,they don’t get along!

*He has a sixth sense on sensing the troubles up ahead,thus he read the malice coming from while Annette: "There is a great evil at work here, Bonfire--someone so wicked their soul is twisted to its core."

This weekend I was watching oshi no ko with my sister, and after that we didn’t feel like watching anything else so we let the channel keep going while it kept going in the bg while we did whatever.

Next up was some episode of a spy anime I never heard of, with like 8 teen girls and one older guy. Naturally, our expectations weren’t high given the state of anime. We started playfully roasting the opening and consequently episode’s plot, which was one of the girls going on a joint outing with the guy (obviously not a good sign). I turned to my sister and went “I don’t know what this anime is about, but for my own sake I’m going to pretend it’s about a spy dad adopting some spy daughters and is training them to kill him, like in assassination classroom”. We laughed, and decided to go with that premise in mind.

To our surprise, my guess was not that off — the girls referred to the guy as sensei, and they all seemed to live with him in some big mansion. Intrigued, we looked up the series and found out that the series was about a guy raising some spy-school dropouts to be top-class spies.

Also, as if to exceed our expectations entirely, the lead guy is a near-canon aroace lead, with it being stated that he doesn’t experience romantic or sexual attraction.

Watched ep 7 to 11 of Spy Classroom and I forgot how good this anime was, definitely another underrated gem of an anime. I want to give Grete a hug too, she's so precious and I really love all the Lamplight members and Klaus.
