It really depends what I'm writing about. For the first royal pains piece, I had to look up like 3 things, which really isn't a lot.

Perhaps I should put in more research for general america things otherwise I'll be saying the characters are going on a maccas run or they're going to shout someone a drink which are things I have said/written that have confused people outside of New Zealand and Australia.

But for fanfiction, really not a lot of research goes into it. Deities au has me referring to my museum studies notes, or flower meanings for the hanahaki fics I've written.

For my graphic novel series, a decent amount of research has gone into it on my part. Sometimes it's the practical of planning a story, worldbuilding tips, map drawing, and all that. But since a large part of many character's power comes from deities, there has been research on the deities themselves, mythical weapons, religions surrounding those deities such as King Arthur, ancient Greek religion, cursed blades in Norse or Celtic mythology

Absolutely devoured The Locked Tomb series in 4 days. One of the most bizarre things I've read, I love it. Lesbian space necromancer and her himbo swordswoman for the win. Fantastic world/universe-building. Plays with gender in interesting but understated ways. Cleverly constructed, it honestly makes me want to go back and read it all again straight away knowing what I know now. Would recommend.

I hate that everyone is saying ‘usamerican’ now! Did calling people from the United States of America ‘American’ really cause that much confusion? I know North and South America are sometimes referred to but I’ve literally never seen anyone from like Brazil or Canada called American.
