Richie x Santanico feat. Seth

“Don’t be a stranger...”

Richard never stops dreaming of her, its why he chooses to throw himself into work, into staying up as long as he can doing god knows what. He needs an escape because even if he won’t admit it he misses her, he longs for her. She left and it fucking sucks. He can see the side-glances Seth throws his way but he ignores him. He ignores him when Seth tries to bring her up, talks about the necklace or the clothes she left behind. “Should we just throw them out? Ship them to her?” Because he knows Richie has been keeping tabs on her. Richie clicks his tongue and tosses them in the trash, out of Seth’s hands and walks past his brother annoyed. He later comes back for them. Folds them neatly and keeps them in his drawer, just incase she does come back. Her clothes smell like her, sometimes it’s a comfort, and sometimes it’s like a stake to the fucking heart. He hates her and yet he doesn’t hate her at all. He fucked up and he knows it but doesn’t she know about second chances? Didn’t they have it good? Fucking and fighting their way through Texas, watching movies on the couch and just being a part of a thing. It was the first time he felt at home, felt like he had a purpose, the first time he loved something more than anything else. But it just ended the same way - even his dog Peaches ran away from him. 

Seth catches him at the garage with the garage door open like he’s waiting. The sound of a motorcycle always make him restless and always leaves him disappointed. He knows where she is but in the back of his mind, the part that makes him believe in ridiculous things hopes that one day she’ll be back, for him. Did she think he sold him out like Seth thought? Did she think he didn’t love her? Because he did. Richie could count the things he loved on one hand and she made the cut. Sometimes he wishes she didn’t, he wishes she didn’t mean anything to him and that those feelings would just go away. He followed in his brother’s footsteps after all. Would Santanico become his Vanessa? Would they meet up here and there just to yell at each other, fuck and go their separate ways? When the sun would be too much for him Richie would shut the garage door and toss the remote. 

When it’s time to track her down (He already knows where she is) Richie is more anxious and fidgety than he’s ever been. He paces in his room, opens the drawer that he keeps her things in and then shuts it. He wants to get it all out of his system so that he can be stone. She isn’t bothered so why should he be? His heart is broken and it feels like it won’t ever get put back together. She stole a piece of it and lost it somewhere. Carless. When Seth knocks on his door and asks if he’s done primping and powdering his nose Richie scoffs and cracks his knuckles, flexes his fingers and sets his arms at his sides. He looks unbothered to everyone but Seth - but Richie is ignorant to it all, he’s got bigger things on his mind, he has a dark haired girl with blood red lips and mesmerizing eyes filling all the available space in his brain.

It’s really sad that Santanico was Richies first real “girlfriend” That relationship was so emotionally manipulative. She’s so toxic and abusive to him. And that was his first love? Poor Richie. Just wanted a connection and he got her.

I think we’re going to have to agree to disagree on part of that. :)

Kisa was very goal driven in the first two seasons, with little to no care on who she manipulated or hurt to reach said goal. Many of her actions deserve criticism and I don’t blame anyone for not forgiving her for them. I also don’t believe she had malicious intentions for anyone but her abuser, which for me makes a difference. (It doesn’t for everyone and I totally get that.)

Kisa is unable to be in any kind of stable relationship during those first two seasons, although she tries with Richie. I think she cared about him as much as she was able to with where she was at at the time, but was too angry and focused on revenge to be able to be what someone else needed. And Richie was good for her. Up until then her only really “relationships” were Malvado and Carlos, both of who used and abused her. Due to her history, its completely understandable that Kisa would go into her relationship with Richie manipulating him from the start, because that’s the only way she knows to protect herself. That doesn’t make it right, I don’t want to excuse her manipulation of him, but I do understand why she did it.

I don’t think Richie regrets his relationship with her though. He loved her and helped her and let her go when she needed to find herself again. The parts that were good between them were sweet and soft in a way they both seemed to need on some level, but those parts weren’t enough to keep them going. And Richie wasn’t entirely in a good place for a relationship either. He let his ambition rule him, to the point where he seriously thought about giving a human trafficking survivor who just got out back to her rapist. (The part of me that loves Richie wants to think he was just being greedy and had convinced himself they’d all be OK without him there to pull off his part of the plan, but another parts points out that even if that was the case, he risked everyone he cared about just for a chance at getting to be the boss.)

As much as I love them together, I don’t think it was the right time for them. Maybe later, when they’ve both got their heads out of their asses they can give it another go.

(All opinions are welcome of course. If you don’t like Kisa or find her actions unforgivable, that’s totally fine. These are just my opinions. Not everyone’s going to feel the same way about a character. :) )

Also Spike/Drusilla or Kisa/Richie?

At this point they're pretty much on the same level, but that might change when I eventually rewatch FDTD. I've said it before, but Kisa/Richie is a ship I didn't appreciate as much as I should've, and I will remedy that xD. And although I didn't find FDTD's ending satisfactory, it's easily amended to go my way if I want to, so no skin of my back there.
