today I learned that the Sunday before Shrove Tuesday used to be called köttsöndag (lit. meat Sunday but imo it sounds so much more grotesque in Swedish), and that the traditional activities were eating meat and driving around on kicksleds

#and while writing this i discovered that there's the equivalent English name pork Sunday which makes sense #but you can't beat köttsöndag #i wanna eat meat and drive a kicksled #preferably at the same time #posting a lot tonight i guess. hello. it's bedtime soon. #i think the grotesque feeling might be because kött in my mind is somewhere between meat and flesh #and flesh is inherently more grotesque than meat

This one is so sad to me. Harry very obviously loves his mom, and she loved him (still does? We don't know if his parents are alive).

He was safe and loved as a kid, and we get to see him at his lowest - dying and broken - and it's utterly heartbreaking.

Mushing should be banned. I am fed up with GSP owners using our pedestrian paths with their stupid kicksleds. One almost ran over my child the other week. They should go to the county roads, not the city footpaths.

You’re coming into the ask box of a mushing dog blog and claiming mushing should be banned because you ran into a few rude people in your general area? Seems a bit like you’re overly sensitive.

Sometimes I think about drawing characters doing stuff that's norwegian ig (aka just stuff I've done at some point in my life).

Like hiking up a mountain in fleece or wool clothing, wearing a marius sweater, going out recycling empty bottles, wearing bunad, watching the northern lights, dog sledding, regular sledding, skiing, snowboarding, using a kicksled or walking with spikes on your shoes to avoid sliding around on the ice, doing any of those winter activities in either coveralls or in a winter jacket + winter pants, going on a midnight stroll while the midnight sun is out, going on an afternoon stroll while the moon keeps occupying the sky, etc.

Maybe I'll do it at some point. Maybe maybe.

Ever since dog sled guy asked me if I wanted to run dogs again this winter I cannot stop thinking about it and I can't WAIT to get out there with the dogs. I miss them so much!! Which is partly why I've been looking at sleds for sale online lmao not that I have enough of my own dogs to run a proper sled. And I can't have any more dogs until we move into a bigger house anyway. As tempting as it is to take the two dog sled guy offered me last year lol. They would have to be outside and I would be SO SAD not getting to have them in the house. I also don't know if they would be suited to being indoor dogs at this point. But yeah it would be cool to get a kicksled and just take Sprocket. I think she would love it, she loves to pull as it is. And dog sled guy has a lab mix that he calls one of his all-stars! Which is sweet, I love her. She's so cute and little. God I miss them 😭

I picked up a kicksled for Bashō! We didn’t really get to use it - the trails are near bare and ungroomed. I’m just excited we get to run this year.

For Sidzla?

Sidzla's family consists of Mikitta&Mayhem, Ultron, the family dog Toarie, and Mikitta's extended family. You could maybe consider the Avengers part of Sidzla's family, at least some of them, but that's kind of stretching it. So let's stick to a more contained definition.

Sidzla is on good terms with all members of her family, including the dog and the grandparents on Mikitta's side. Her relationship with her grampa is a bit strained, however, in part because he has difficulty reconciling with how comparatively unusual Sidzla and her family are. Her mummo (=grandma) adores her. They often cook or bake together, and Sidzla will get to ride a pony on the farm and help around at the stable. (Since she's never lived on the farm and had to help, she views it more as "getting" than "having to".)

Mayhem is kind of Sidzla's "fun parent", while Mikitta and Ultron have to try to be the responsible ones. Besides, Mayhem is absolutely the best at playing and goofing off.

Sidzla is close with Toarie. When Sidzla was smaller, they'd race around in the winter with Toarie pulling her on a pulk, kicksled or mini skis, but Sidzla is getting a bit too big for Toarie to play sled dog for her anymore.

⚾

Sidzla's main sport hobby is sports shooting. Apparently, she's very good at focusing on the shooting, I wonder why 😂 (hyperfocus). She also likes cross-country and Alpine skiing. It's a bummer that Alpine skiing is so inaccessible here. (Costly, specialized.) At least cross-country skiing is accessible, just slap on ski boots and get on the trail.

(Random fact, the Finnish word for a ski boot is "mono" 😂)
