it is so irritating to me that how these stupid dance shows do not have any respect for the classical dances like ?!?!? i bet u my whole fucking life that these stupid dance show's so called "judges" can't do any type of classical dance and yet they go on shitting stuff like "ur dance was nice but a fusion or a different form would be even better" from they mouth like yk what else would be better? u stop breathing. yeah.
like the amount of disrespect they show to these superior dance forms like Bharatnatyam and kathak and all by fusioning them with these so called international dances like no disrespect to international dance forms but they are in no way superior to our own classical dance forms. a classical dancer goes through so much during their dance trainings. a ballerina is respected because her foot suffers so much in her dance trainings learning ballet so why are these classical dancers not getting THEIR respect that they DESERVE. look at a classical dancer's feet. it would not be soft cute uwu rather it would be hardened and will have calluses that shows the years wirth of trainings and pains they suffered yet u want to mix that dance form with other dance forms? just bc u think that the classical dance form alone is 'boring'?
Art is something that is beyond culture and traditions, i agree but that does not mean one has to lose their originality, their identity to cater to someone else's standards. if a classical dancer only performs classical dance it is NOT 'boring', it is NOT 'less talented' than others. please stop. stop making it seem like a classical dancer needs to have some international dance forms mixed/fusioned with their original dance forms to looks more 'interesting'.

The Most Heartening Friends' Meet-up Ever
Kuchela alsoknown as Sudama is a childhood friend of Krishna. They were classmates at Sandipani Maharshi's ashramam. But upon reaching adulthood, Krishna became the ruler of Dvaraka, and Sudama remained an impoverished villager. His wife implored him to meet his old friend and request for some financial assistance.
He sets out to Dwaraka with a bundle of rice flakes. Krishna and Rukmini welcome him with so much love and treat him royally, which embarassed him. He doesn't mention anything about his situation or the gift of rice flakes. The poem mentioned in the post deals with their casual conversation.
But all knowing Krishna asks for rice flakes and Rukmini stops him from eating too much. Kuchelan returns to his home after some time, without asking for anything. But he is amazed when he reaches his village for his home have been conveyed to a palace with a lot of riches. He and his wife enjoy their newly found wealth and status with humility.
This Kathakali performance based on the story of Krishna and Kuchela is called "Kuchelavritham"

Today I got the chance to see irl kathakali and odissi performances and I'm still in awe. I also watched a small section narrating the birth of Parvati but I can't remember the name of the theatre, sadly.
It was simply amazing, I still can't believe I got to see those performances!

Glasgow Mela Festival June 2022
Today I visited the Glasgow Mela Festival for a few hours and learned about an Indian dance form known as Kathakali.
‘Kathakali’, an Indian classical dance form, is associated with storytelling. It is a dance drama from the south Indian state of Kerala. Similar to other Indian classical dance arts, the story in ‘Kathakali’ is also communicated to audiences through footwork and impressive gestures of face and hands complimented with music and vocal performance. However it can be distinguished from the others through the intricate and vivid make-up, unique face masks and costumes worn by dancers, also from their style and movements that reflect the age-old martial arts and athletic conventions prevalent in Kerala and surrounding regions. Traditionally performed by male dancers, it developed in courts and theatres of Hindu regions contrary to other Indian classical dances which predominantly developed in Hindu temples and monastic schools. Although not clearly traceable, this classical dance form is considered to have originated from temple and folk arts that trace back to 1st millennium CE or before.
Here are a couple of images from today, to show your the costume and facial expression

The technique of Indian Classical dance as mentioned in numerous treatises begins with Natyashastra and progress through the medieval works of 16th and 17th Centuries. Indian dance synthesizes the techniques of other arts to evolve an art which was considered the most significant of all.
